Today (04/01/24) was my first time visiting Stevens Ranch Modern Dentistry and their first impression spoke volumes. This office is immaculate and clean with modern equiptment. I had a GREAT experience with all the staff as soon as I walked in, to being seen by Dr. Alston. I digitally completed my paperwork and was taken back to a room within approximately 10-15 minutes. I was greeted with a warm smile by the front office staff as soon as I walked in. EVERYONE in the office was very professional and welcoming; making me feel comfortable and more at ease. Dr. Alston was very thorough, informative and explained everything completely. She did not make me feel rushed and she encouraged me to ask questions. Additionally, she was very pleasant and knowledgable. She was very honest and straight forward; not making me feel pressured into doing frivulous procedures. Dr. Alston DEFINITELY has integrity and genuinely cares for her patients. Thank you so much for providing quality customer service!!! If I could give this place zero stars I would. They have completely ripped me off. For my simple yearly tooth cleaning and X-rays they let me know it would be 35 dollars. THIS COST ME OVER 1000 DOLLARS!!! I got the bill in the mail and was so shocked. I let they know I was on a budget and could only afford the minimum. And then they kept trying to push me to get a laser treatment. I let them know multiple times I couldn't and they kept pushing. I'm never coming back. read more

Office Manager MARIE HOUGHTLING extremely disrespectful and unprofessional: My insurance is United Concordia through Tricare. I was assigned here because they were in network. I called and was able to schedule an appointment quickly. I arrive for my appointment, get the scans/exam done and waiting for "the next steps" and bill breakdown. I wasn't 100% set on this place doing the work but wanted to see their quote and my options since we just moved here. I had Dr. Alston, her exam was quick and she was kind for the most part. The quote comes back and it's $1923 for everything. I was shocked and this other lady who I assumed was their billing said the specific crown I needed wasn't covered by insurance. I asked the quote for the crown my insurance covers and with a smart ass smirk she says "take the total and deduct $887.29". So they were wanting an extra $900 almost for a crown my insurance didn't cover that was essential. I told them I needed a minute to call my husband and insurance. United Concordia told me if it was absolutely necessary (like they claimed) they could make a note and submit to my insurance and they would almost certainly cover, but of course they didn't. They just want the extra money. I asked if they could do it with the crown my insurance covered since it they wouldn't claim it as essential and Dr. Alston said it's possibly but she basically said she personally wouldn't do the crown unless I got the fancy one(but they refused to submit the request to my insurance). My husband says we can get a second opinion if I'd like or otherwise he said to just let them fix it and he would pay the bill. But the situation felt off. Either way, their endo is only in on Tuesday and I told them Tuesday's wouldn't work for me. So I head to the front desk find the "billing lady" and ask her if the endo is at a different location on another day and I can go to that location. And she informs me I can get a referral to any in network endo it didn't have to be theirs. Then she informs me she can give me a referral to base dental. I was surprised, I thought it was only for service members but here they service dependents too. I asked "do you recommend them" to which she replied "I personally wouldn't. My husband got three crowns there and they didn't mold them it's just straight across. But since your husband is okay putting the cheapest material in your mouth it should be perfect for you" I later find out she's not billing she's the OFFICE MANAGER...MARIE HOUGHTLING. All because I didn't immediately give them $2k and wanted a second opinion on MY CARE. and I wanted to double check them with my insurance she proceeds to call my husband cheap. And she made sure to be real confident saying it super loud and condescending with a waiting room full of other patients. I went to the car completely in shock and had my husband go in to which she acted like she didn't say that, he requested she send my referral to base dental...it took her THREE weeks and about 5-6 phone calls from me for her to finally submit the referral. And no shocker she never did, she sent it to me and said she couldn't get ahold of them to submit the referral. After she emailed me my referral I was able to IMMEDIATELY call base dental and submit my referral within 15 minutes. So not only was she absolutely rude, disrespectful, and insulting she failed by refusing to do her job. Such an embarrassment to the brand name to be acting like this as a grown woman and office manager. read more

I love my Dentist Marie Alston. She is honest and has a great rapport. Alex my hygienist is thorough and gentle.

Was here waiting for a family member, and just overheard who I guess was an office manager, "Marie" talking to her staff absolutely horribly, idk how anyone can stand being treated like that... had no problems with the care, we were there for a root canal so I don't think it was the regular doctor, so I can't speak to what they are like. Will absolutely not return to support a business that treats employees like dirt though. read more

We arrived late due to traffic but they were still willing to see my husband and the e checkin was easy. It was our first visit and the front office staff was great! We did have to wait a bit but that is normal for the dentist. The Dentist was honest and informative and gave us multiple options. We selected the best cost effective option for us with no pressure. They took a down payment and set up payment options. We had a chance to eat lunch and nap before we went back same day to see the oral surgeon. The procedure was quick and the post surgery medication was ready for pick up quickly . I would highly recommend this office! I'll start at this was the only place that took my insurance . The dentist dr A is really rude. She can definitely work on her empathy and her people skills. I've never been to a "professional" and being treated that way. First of all she lowered the bed writhing giving me a heads up and I got startled and I was like "oh sorry I didn't know that was going to move" and she just looks at me like if I were stupid. Takes a two second look at my x rays and automatically says it's a tooth removal. I told her I was sad about it and she had no remorse she said "if you want I can get this done for you any other Dentist in this office will only do what say and I'll tell I won't approve anything other than a tooth extraction... if you don't like that you can go somewhere else " I looked obviously sad and she just DID NOT care, some other guy looked at it and said the same thing but loooked at my x rays for literally 2 seconds. I went to 3 other dentists for an extra opinion and all 3 other dentist said that that was dramatic and didn't need a tooth extraction. And helped me with a different procedure. She had a horrible attitude oh and the funny part having someone with that attitude while ONLY playing Christian music.... Seems silly to me. I was at least expecting for all of the workers to be nice and humble. read more

A lesson to providers: your receptionists will cost you patients if you do not choose them wisely. I adore the providers in this office, both the hygienist and doctor provided really great care to me, but I have yet to have a single positive interaction over the phone with reception, so much so that I do not feel like it is even worth coming back to this office. Being hung up on, having my call traded from person to person with no communication, listening to the receptionist rushing to get off the phone with me, are the typical behaviors I've gotten in the 3-4 times I've called the office to settle very simple matters. The team is only as strong as the weakest member and the receptionist part of this offices team is truly the downfall of the experience, very disappointing. read more

Scheduled my dentist appointment 3 months ago and had my day off scheduled but only to be called the day before appointment scheduled to tell me needing to reschedule due to no doctors avail for exam?? Appointment was set 3 or months ago? The person on the phone couldn't understand that it's hard to reschedule such short notice, I know it's. not her fault but have empathy at least. All of these bad reviews are so true. Receptionists are rude and don't want to do their jobs properly. They said I had do to a removal and where trying to get me to remove a wisdom tooth I don't have yea crazy. Went to 2 dentist said I can get the tooth crowned even crazier this place just blows. The day of my surgery I call 15 in advance because they have a policy to do so and be there early by the way so they said to come on in little did I know I was going to be waiting for 4 hours to get called. Ended not doing it for a family emergency had happened and they had no remorse what so ever extremely rude yea crazy no customer service at all. Office seems to lack communication and structure. And after that 1 month later they have the payment plan still active after I said I wasn't coming back and charged me 223 dollars and gave me the run around for a whole day and where extremely rude over the phone as if it was my mistake. And on the refund paper it says I was being loud in the lobby like if I didn't have a family emergency the professionalism is absolutely horrible here and many other reviews back this up.they also have a promotion for when you leave a review they free stuff off their dental talk about bribing for reviews. This place always takes forever. Wait in lobby for 30 min plus for an appt. Then wait in room for another 30 min for a simple in/out appt. Carve out at least 2-4 hours of your day to come here for any reason. Nice staff but they always over book and there is only 1 dentist and everyone is just waiting waiting waiting. read more

They are very unprofessional. They told me my night guard would be ready in two weeks. After a month of not hearing back from them I reach out. They told me they ll find out where it is and call me right back. I don't hear from them. I call the next day they tell me the same thing, but they do call me back later that day, they tell me the got it in and to come in and get it fitted the next day. On my way the next day, I hit a bit of traffic so I call to let them know. They tell me that the only ones left at the office are the hygienist and the front desk person, so they can't help me. They tell me to come Saturday any time between 8am -12pm, I even tell her I didn't know you guys were open on Saturday, she says we ll be open this Saturday. Here I am 8:30am and no one is in. read more

Dr. Alston and her staff were amazing! They took great care of my teeth and explained everything to me so I could understand. Dr. Alston even stayed late to squeeze me in. I highly recommend this office for anyone needing a dentist. read more

Dr. Alston is a wonderful and dedicated provider. I saw her at the De Zavala location when she was there (I do not recommend that location anymore). But this location is very nice. The staff has followed the dr from the previous location which is a testament to how amazing the doctor is. The office is clean and the equipment is modern. You have a plethora of choice in the area for dentists, but in my opinion based on my years of experience with these folks they are the best in the area. I live almost 40 minutes away and I drive to see them. Thank you to Marie, Flor and Dr Alston for all of their amazing care! read more

POORLY RAN OFFICE! I normally don't write reviews unless they are exceptional or horrible. Unfortunately, the later is true for this one. Without getting into too many details. The office is not ready for prime time, they seem well staffed, latest equipment on hand, but they are completely disorganized and its a simply put a hot mess. I arrived at 1038 for a 1100 first time appointment, X-rays where taken in a timely fashion, and check-in was sterile and underwhelming at best, not very welcoming, friendly nor happy to see any of their patients. They took all the X-rays my insurance could handle, and was then taken to the wrong room, (no biggie frankly, it happens) but they parked me and forgot about me, after waiting in my room for 45+ minutes with no one giving me an update, I simply left at 1220 for what was supposed to be a standard cleaning. I walked out to the front desk and said I needed to reschedule my appointment (not because of me but I felt they clearly were not ready for me). But even then, I was told to just leave and they would call me to reschedule, no explanation offered as to why I was kept waiting, why they were running behind, nothing. I can only assume that everyone was out to lunch a the office was pretty empty by then, but who knows. I simply said, don't bother I won't be coming back. I value their time and arrived early, but they didn't value mine, nor did they seem to care enough to even bother to offer an explanation, seemed like it was rather routine there that customers just walk out. They just asked me to leave my little chest napkin right here on the front desk, wow! Unacceptable, inconsiderate and unprofessional, not to mention not hygenic, they made it clear they have a $75.00 fee for no shows, but if they are not ready, and keep you waiting don't expect as much as an explanation or god forbid an apology in return. I will be finding a better fit for my dental needs. I encourage everyone to choose your dentist carefully, this one, IS NOT FOR ME! read more
