My salesperson was professional, customer oriented and the communication was above the board. There was a mismeasure for my project which resulted in shortages for the installation. Contracted installers wittingly had a remedy. This created extra pad and the need to order more lament flooring. The salesperson went to bat for me for a concession for the error. However the owner certainly did not put the customer first. Coming from a family who owned businesses locally, I strive to stay local. However, customer service from our family's perspective always comes first. This is clearly not the goal for Stevenson's. I would not recommend doing business with a business that doesn't stand behind their employees or put customers first. read more

Very disappointed with my local Ace Hardware store.. trying to stay local for my buying needs but unfortunately the customer service there is not too willing to go over and above to remedy a slight problem that I'm sure would be an easy fix with a simple phone call to get this appliance sold to a local customer......this is why we do go to the bigger chains in other towns to get what we need.. and then we hear all the time please shop local.. well it works both ways... the business also needs to take care of the locals that are willing to spend their money in these smaller local businesses... I'll be buying all my future needs elsewhere where they are willing and wanting to get the sale... read more

I am at a total loss for the negative reviews here. Every experience I've ever had has been absolutely incredible. Customer service that you would expect from a small town store. One time I went to pick up something that I needed immediately only to find it being sold there slightly less than Amazon! What wonderful customer service! We purchased a refrigerator off of them. Delivery went well however it had a frozen filter. They replaced the filter however after 2 days it had a faint leak. Stevenson's replaced the refrigerator with a new one to make it right. It's so nice to have a reliable store owned by a fine, established, and community minded family. read more

I decided to buy another Poulan Pro because my other one was really old and need some work. I have to say I'm very pleased in the professional way Stevenson's Ace Hardware went about this. The associates were very friendly and helpful and they never tried to talk me into something I didn't want. So Kudos to the associates that I worked with. The delivering guy was great too. I know I left a bad review (11/12/2017) before because I was brow beaten into something I just didn't want which I still hate that riding mower to this day and refuse to use it. At the time I had my sights set on a smaller mower with a 30" cut and that is when that women took me over to this Craftsman lawn tractor which was too big for my yard and I wouldn't be able to run it long enough to properly charge the battery in it. But last weeks purchase will make me want to come back and do business with you. I really appreciated the great service and the great help. Please keep up the good work everyone. read more

I went to Stevenson's Ace Hardware planning on buying a washer and dryer. I found a set that I liked and the sticker tag said it was $679 and $669 for the washer and dryer. I am like okay cool, and the lady there suggested that I get their most expensive plan because hers broke down 3 times already and she had to call Ace Hardware to come out and fix it. She said after the 4th time they will replace it for free. I'm like that sounds like an awesome plan, how much? It was between $240-$250 per unit. I though that was a little high and that would bring my total up to about $1600. The lady then said oh! If you need to wait for your taxes then we have this awesome deal! I was like, well what is it? She said we have a deal where you can pay $10 down and get the set delivered to you within a week or so and have 100 days to pay it all off. You do not have to pay anything during the 100days but if you fail to pay it off with those 100 days then you have to pay X amount out of every pay check. I was like this is awesome because I need a set and I don't have the money available at this moment. Okay sign me up. Well 3-4 days later I found the same set cheaper at Best Buy and JC Penny (president day sale). Note I already checked out Best Buy and other places to see if I can find it cheaper and they were actually higher until the president day sales. Since the washer and dryer wasn't delivered I asked if cancel it or price match it. At first they said no and then I call West Creek to see if the lease was finalized and it wasn't. So WestCreek helped me out and said I wasn't obligated to any contract yet since it wasn't delivered. After me threatening to cancel the order Ace Hardware Finally agreed to price match. I was like I rather do business with Best Buy. They said then we have to charge you 15% restocking fee which would have made it pointless to go to BestBuy. So I said okay we will go with you. After the paper was done and said and the set was delivered the price was supposed to be with $1400. West Creek charged me $1530 total and said that didn't include the taxes. I was like according to Ace that included the taxes. In the end I got screwed over. Since the set was delivered and installed, I lost all leverage in the situation. I just paid the set off and will never return to Ace Hardware again. read more

We recently purchased new Speed Queen washer & dryer from Stevenson's. The dryer was damaged internally (so the damage was not evident) somewhere between the factory and Stevenson's delivering it to our home. Before we could even use it, they had to send a service person to repair it. We were without a dryer for a week by the time the service was received and the parts had to be ordered. We asked Ace to replace the dryer with a new one and they refused. We have a repaired/used dryer before it could be used, and Stevenson's refuses to do anything about it. They certainly do not care about the customer. We have some friends who was treated badly with poor service also when they purchased a riding lawn mower this past Spring. We certainly would not recommend buying from this store, and will never do business with them again. It's obviously a small town business who cares nothing about their customers. There are certainly other business in Crawfordsville where we can get the same products that Ace carries, so we will give our future business to them. Someone needs to give Stevenson's a lesson in customer service and satisfaction, because they obviously know nothing about it. read more

2 stars. Place is way over priced bought a pair of 440 pliers here and it was $20. They didn't have a folding ruler so I went to walmart and seen the same pliers I just bought from ace for $14.88. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because Sears just moved out of their store and now share space with ace. I like some of Sears tools but just like ace some of their stuff is over priced. read more

Bought a dish washer there on closeout 7 days ago and was told that we would get a call to schedule installation. After 5 days of not hearing from anyone I called to ask about and they said that they would contact the installer again. Got a call that evening and scheduled an installation for today. Got a call today saying that the installer noticed that the dishwasher was broken and needed scrapped, but we could come in to pick out a new one. Went in and found a comparable model with a difference of $63 after taxes. Kaitlyn checked with Jack who had to call Pam over to see what they could do. Pam told me that they couldn't discount it because Sears would just scrap the one that I bought initially. I asked if they could come down at all because if I had gone somewhere else I would have already had it installed and be using it, but she then went on to tell me that they'd still have to pay the installer for showing up at the store as if it wasn't their fault. Only gave a 2 star instead of a 1 because Kaitlyn was helpful and genuinely seemed sorry about the problem, but with owners like that I won't be going back. read more

We purchased a Kenmore refrigerator in December of 2017. Since we have owned it, it's been NON working for approx. 7 months, during the last 13 months. They have sent someone out to service it 8 times!!! We are still without a working refrigerator and Sears/Stevenson's Ace Hardware won't do anything about it. We just want out money back!! Or a new one that works!! If Ace Hardware is backing Sears' product, then you should stand behind your customers when they don't work! Screw you Sears and screw you Ace Hardware. We will never shop in your store again! read more

I purchased 5 gallon water bottles while we were treating our well. When I went to return & get more water bottles the return system which is to give you a ticket is broken. No one ever knew how to charge for the next purchase and to get more water bottles. The cashier was rude each time as if I was ignorant or it was my fault the return system wasn't functioning properly. It typically took 10-20minutes asking several employees and digging though stash of post it notes at the register to get the transaction complete. I decided after several times of this I would just get my water else where. I went to get my deposit back for bottles. The cashier was again rude and had an attitude as the previous 3x I had been there. Then I asked for the manager and he refused to give me my deposit back. I refuse to give them my business because of the way the employees treated me for the stores disorganization. I am all for supporting local, but will not giving give Stevenson's hardware another dime. They need to take the sign they have in the bathroom down about great customer service and belief in God because they are rude. The cashier up front needs to be unloading boxes in the back rather than helping customers with that bad attitude. read more
