This business took me at the last the minute on a Saturday. He explained since he was busy he wouldn't have time to look at it right away. He took my boyfriends number (somehow written down the wrong number) and told us he will call us when it's done. I only needed a spare tire put on a rim and put on the car. So my boyfriend and I went for lunch at a local restaurant while we waited and walked home. I called a few hours later (it was nearing closing time and I hadnt heard from the mechanic) and he said, "I've been done, your boyfriend never answered." "But, I have no problem waiting until you arrive to pick your car up." From the moment the car was dropped up, the customer service was on point. Not to mention, I expected to pay double of what I was charged. I've only been to Honda dealers for my car, but, I plan on bringing it here from here on out. read more

Right before closing the deal with a family member for a used vehicle, I wanted to get a thorough inspection. About a year ago I reviewed DCH Montclair Acura, a shady official Acura dealer. After they pinned me for a moron, I was presented with repair estimates of about $5,000. Knowing that dealer's love to rip off customers for repairs, I sought a recommendation from someone I know who drove a used Honda Accord for years. Clearly, the dealer's recommendations were ludicrous, so for the necessary repairs I walked out of Steve's spending about $300. Steve's felt 99 percent of those nonsense dealer's requests were absolutely not needed. Although Steve's is a half an hour away, I have continued to go to them for everything, including simple oil changes. They don't offer loaners (or snacks and complimentary car washes) like the dealer and don't have a place to wait. However, there is a library a few blocks away to hang in, as well as an entire strip of stores to kill time while you wait. In the past year, after driving about 20,000 miles, I have spent significantly less than $1,000 in repairs, perhaps even under $500 for the whole year all from Steve's Foreign Car (not including oil changes). Off the top of my head, I think we've only replaced an air filter and did a brake job. My 2005 MDX with over 125,000 miles still looks and drives brand new!!!! While I wholeheartedly appreciate friendly service, when it comes to my car, that is just an added bonus. Steve's Foreign Car really stands out for their beyond reasonable prices, their quality work, their knowledge of Hondas and Acuras, and their trustworthiness. Just a tip - the shop can be quite busy. They have a drop box for your keys if you wish to drop your vehicle off at night. If it's not an emergency, I strongly suggest calling and getting an appointment, especially if it's a weekend repair. I normally call the day before I drop my car off and am easily accommodated. read more

I don't know about the long-term good and bad for these guys, but I do know that I trust long-term relationships, especially ones that my family develops. My aunt and uncle have come to this shop for years, to service their Hondas. I'm not talking about regularly scheduled service for their cars, or little repairs here and there - but somehow my uncle and aunt have kept their Honda CRV for a good, oh, at least as far back as high school for me (so mathwise, I guess that pegs at least 21 years?). Then again, my uncle kept his Honda Civic prior to the CRV at least about the same number of years. So somehow, either Honda makes really good vehicles, or my uncle and aunt have a knack for picking the good ones, or maybe a little of both - but one way or another, I know that my uncle knows cars. And he knows car repair people. And they've taken their car here for years. So when I came driving up to visit this past weekend - no, correction, LIMPING - with brand new all-season tires on the front rims of my 2007 Audi A3 2.0 (rears were just replaced in July), post-visit to Landmark Sears for purchase and installation (I will always keep going to them if they have the best price for materials I'm looking for, but I will NEVER go to them again for any service - years of my mother going back and again blindly to Sears for them to "fix" her problematic brakes and brake pads should have taught me something) - well, my aunt and uncle told me to go to these guys. First thing Saturday morning, off we went. They had 2 guys in the shop, and 3 cars ahead of me. But - they told me - they'd get to my car that morning. At 12:01, I got a call that the car was ready for pick up. We picked up the car at 12:20, and the guy I talked to (Dave?) told me all 4 tires were out of balance. What really ticked me, was that he showed me that the front tires still had their old weights on them. I was about to have a conniption. Sunday afternoon, $55 later, I drove myself and the kiddies all the way back home, like a hot knive through butter. So moral of the story? I'm not going to let Sears touch my car again. And these guys just won another customer - but I hope I won't have to limp to their shop again in the near future. *This shop, however, transferred ownership in September 2012. So while my aunt and uncle knew the previous owner for years, they don't know the new people - but I'm pretty happy so far with how they did with my cars. read more

I have been using this repair service for the last 5 years. I have the urge to gush praise but it'll just come off like the owner wrote it. Long story short. Twice they've talked me out of more costly repairs I didn't need. The one time they made a mistake they owned up to it right away and fixed it that day with no charge. And they also fixed a long standing issue my old mechanic said wasn't a problem. Needless to say I'll be a loyal customer unless I some day move away. Danny and Danny Jr run a great shop. read more

Brought my car in because the clutch was acting weird. They (claim to have) replaced the master and slave cylinder for the price of $530. Problem still exactly the same. Obviously they weren't able to notice the somewhat subtle problem, but agreed to work on my car anyway. This is ridiculous. Also a couple years ago they charged me $220 troubleshooting to add some fluid when the clutch (on a different car) was giving me major problems. I was so happy to have it fixed, I didn't question it. These guys will do anything to make a buck. read more
