Atmosphere- Steve's pizza is in an older strip mall on Rosedale Hwy. Looking around the dining area felt abandoned. Nothing has been updated in a long time. All the machines are unplugged and a sign says if you'd like to play you can ask staff to plug it in. The dining area was large but only has 2 tvs. There are missing light bulbs and fan blades on the ceiling fans. There was no music playing and I could hear the staff cussing as they worked in the kitchen. Food- The chicken was really good and enjoyed the crispiness. The wedges are good, but I would probably ask for well done for more crunch. The pizza was good as well. Especially liked the flavor of the pepperonis they use. Overall, not sure if I'll go back. Admittedly, I ended up here on accident , however I was pleasantly surprised. The location is tucked in to a small shopping area . The restaurant is reminiscent of vintage style pizza parlors . The menu is featured as soon as you walk in with seating located in the back. There are many modern and vintage game to pass the time as you wait for your food . The staff are very warm and welcoming. When I came in it appeared that one person was making and taking the orders . It was New Year's Eve and very busy . Nonetheless, she took time to speak with me and answer any questions I had about the menu . I ordered an extra large specialty pizza half cheese and half meat lovers , small potato wedges and the cheese bread . The prices and the amount of food you get are such a good deal . The food was ready in about 20 minutes . Immediately I dug into the cheese-bread, it was warm, cheesy and garlicky. The rest of the food I brought back home with me . First time trying Steve's. They came recommended by my buddy and boy they didn't disappoint. The gal I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and super friendly a long with the other staff who were personable and welcoming. Walking into the business gave me instant 90's vibes and a throw back to my childhood. Smelled like Peter Piper Pizza/King Leo's from back in the day. The pizza was great and right up my alley. Thin, large pepperoni, cooked well done and best of all a spicy/bold sauce. I hate that most pizza places in town use a sweet sauce. Steve's is now my go to pizza in Bakersfield moving forward. I'd say it's an 8.4 if we are comparing the rest of the pizza in Bako. No pics unfortunately since we devoured it pretty quickly. read more

upon entering i felt like i reverted back to my elementary school age coming into a classic pizza diner. Prices were fair and two calzones w/drinks was around $30. I understand why the games were unplugged/not on but it felt kinda run-down without them on. But I also understand that this is a small business and in times like these we gotta make do and move forward. There was no music playing, but there is a billiards place next door, so we heard plenty of country music bumping through the walls if you enjoy that lol. Unfortunately I waited a LONG ass time, my order had been "crossed" (aka lost) as per the cashier so in total, I waited about 40 minutes. Now to the food: Honestly, I really wanted to love this place but for the amount of time I waited, I was pretty disappointed and underwhelmed. And they forgot my ranch. Good pizza and awesome wedges!! They make their own ranch dressing to go with the Wedges. And it's delicious!! They aren't stingy with the wedges either. They give you a big order of them. The restaurant isn't too busy and it's not fancy at all. The building has been there so long. But it doesn't bother me because I usually get mine for pick up or delivery. They deliver quickly too! The price isn't too bad. I can get a X-Large combo pizza with an order of wedges for $34. Compared to other places and that would cost $60. Good pizza, good prices and quick service! read more

The pizza!! Crust was perfectly cooked, with that little bit of crunch to it and the toppings were so fresh and cooked to perfection. We had the combo and requested no olives on one half and no mushrooms on the other half, and they got it. They loaded that sucker up. The meats all had great flavors, but something about those vegetables toppings made it that much better. The atmosphere was a little dense, seeing how it was just myself and my husband and the owners. It's got a good size eating area, but I can only imagine how loud it gets in there when there are more people, especially with kids running around. All the electronic games are right there within proximity. The owners were nice. I would imagine it's a husband/wife team. Small language barrier, but nonetheless, they'll get your order right and they are very friendly. It's hard for us to get back more often because we live on the other side of town, but we definitely talk about it and highly recommend it. read more

The extra large pizzas were ok, both the red and white were dry with no evidence of the tomato sauce or rich white I was hoping for. The sad truth is I bought two store brand $5 frozen pizzas and they were better tasting after using my pizza oven on them. The Mojo potatoes were excellent, I probably won't go back because the pizza is not good enough to overcome the lack of friendliness. I was watching the painful, the forced customer interactions that reminded me of my childhood unfriendly boss. So hilarious because it was like getting a flashback of being a teen. For reasons unbeknownst to me, my husband and I just now discovered Steve's pizza! We have had it a few times since said discovery, and every time it has been consistently good. Not just good actually, great! Delicious! We have picked it up and had it delivered, both took hardy no time at all. They always have great specials too. The crust is a good consistency and is nice and chewy. The pepperonis are no doubt our favorite part, they are huge! The food here is and always has been delicious. I Used to love going as a teen and hanging out, then bringing my kids. Unfortunately though the option of dining is a no go, the seating area is worse for wear, it's carpets need replaced and the whole area a good deep cleaning. It's musty, and hard too breath. The staff is amazing and always so friendly I hope the store gets a good update so we can dine in again. Staff can only do so much, and you can tell they're trying. One of my favorite pizza restaurant here in the NW! I've ordered from here about 5x and never any issues just really good food! The price is right and delivery is under 30 min! The owner takes pride in his business and it's doing very well! I am a firm believer in honesty and the staff is that!
