Chris S.

I recently purchased a used 2008 LX570. It is my first Lexus but not my first Toyota. I brought it to Stevinson's for a list of service items that I wanted completed as we all know Lexus and Toyotas will last a very longtime if you service them properly. So my service request was to change every fluid in the vehicle. Oil, coolant, trans, front & rear diff, transfer case, brake , ACH, lube driveshaft and change all filters. Got the vehicle back a day later. By the way the service writer Patrick was great. I am a pretty good wrench and used to perform most of my own service work, but work and family now dictate that it is best to let someone else take care of these things. I did take the time to crawl under the vehicle to do a quick inspection on the service work. To my shock the transmission fluid, ACH fluid were never completed and I took pictures to show Stevinson's. Also the brake fluid change was done incorrectly and the drive shaft was never lubed. I contacted the Stevinson's and they took the vehicle back and after inspecting the vehicle admitted that the work listed above had not be performed properly. Jeff Diers the service manager said their best tech would go over the vehicle again and perform the service items that were not done originally and double check all the other items. I got the vehicle back from this second service. An apology was given and they washed my car but no other gesture for this mistake was offered. This story gets worse. My wife asked if they did the rest of the service correctly and I said "of course they did, what service minded business would not double check everything after what had happened. ESPECIALLY since this is LEXUS we are talking about." (note always listen to your wife) Well a few weeks later my oil maintenance light goes off. I check with my ODII sensor and the oil maintenance reset was never performed. Also I checked the dip stick and the oil pan was heavily overfilled. I notified Jeff Diers and they took the vehicle back again and changed the oil and reset the computer. I am trying to be reasonable at this point and let Jeff know that a thank you and a car wash is not sufficient for the trouble, possible damage to my vehicle had I not uncovered these issues and serious loss of faith I now have in the service department. I offer what I feel is a reasonable solution of a partial refund for the original work that was not performed. They came back with a 10% coupon for future work or parts. I gracefully declined and decided I will spend the time informing you and anyone who will listen to be very cautious of Stevinson.

Several times he kept it for 2 or 3 weeks with the promise that it would ve done tomorrow. Each time I picked it up he said it was fixed. (It was not) The last time I took it to him 3 weeks ago. He asked me to bring it in the morning, but when I got there he was not there. 3 more times that day he broke appointments with me. I told him I wanted my money back. He swore at me and told me to get out or he would call the police. I went the next day and again he screamed at me to get out of his shop or he would have me arrested. I am a widow and money is not easy to come by. I have since had it fixed and the parts he said he replaced had not been replaced. Super bad business man

There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

Got it back after a few short days and will be getting some further work done as time goes on. This truck had belonged to my former landlord whereupon his daughter sold it to me as the old boy had gone to a retirement facility. In his later years maintenance and repairs had been let go but being sturdy and strong running, I bought it and am slowly bringing it up to snuff and it is good in the event I should need to do any long distance traveling with it. . Attended the new shop opening, located just off I-25 and Colorado route 66, where I met Mr. Maggio's family and some of the other customers who call Hands On Autotech their home for vehicle repair and servicing. I first went there based on the recommendation of the Martino troubleshooter show on 630 KHOW AM radio; 10 AM - 2PM, M-F. My opinion is that Tom's shop takes something of a scientific approach to vehicle repair and will go more in depth with an analyses than another shop I had been to for an issue with my '99 Tahoe. As an EV owner himself I gather that Tom is up on the current tech, perhaps more than some other places who would have men of my age (68) from the "dinosaur era" of automotive tech working at their shops.

Horrible!!! Used…read morethem for possibly 5 yrs servicing 4 different cars. They are good at general mechanics. But complex, No!!! Here are 4 situations that made me see new mechanics: 1.) 8 yrs ago, I overheated the engine and cracked the block on my 1984 Landcruiser. They rebuilt the engine, for about $8,000.00. While in the process, Tim claimed the bottom did not need rebuilding. So they closed up the engine. But I was now burning oil. 2 Qts/ 500 miles. They refused to fix the problem. Tim blamed that I told them to not rebuild the bottom end of the engine. (Ask him about it!) 2.) Just last month, Feb 2026, the catalytic converter on my Landcruiser started to fail. They installed that about 6yrs ago, for about $1,200.00. 3.) 2006 V70,Volvo had a small radiator leak. I brought it in each of the 2 times the Low Level light went on. Each time, they could not find the leak. The 3rd time I brought it in was because the radiator blew and the car overheated. I told them to check that I had not cracked the block before repairing the radiator. They repaired the radiator first., about $1,200.00. Then determined the block was cracked. (Rebuild by Swedish Motors was $6,000.00.) 4.) 2009 S80 Volvo. Had them look at this car to see if it was safe to buy, for my 17yr old daughter. The results of their inspection was "it's in great shape". 1 yr later the transmission went. And I found out that this was the one yr Volvo used a Ford impala transmission. No replacement parts, used or rebuilt transmissions were available, per Swedish Motors. I had to scrap the car. When I confronted Tim and Tyler that they should have known this about this model they said that was something I should have known about the car. NOTE: These guys do not deserve those big stickers on their front window that say Toyota and Volvo. Call me .... Dave Longmont, Co 720-745-9460

For this reason, they will always get my business unless it is absolutely necessary to go to the Ford dealer (in which case I only recommend Sil-Terhar in Broomfield). My F150 recently needed a new battery, and at the time the old one died for the last time, my heater stopped working. They could have told me that I needed a new heater core, new heat/ac blender actuator, or blender door (all ranging from $250-$400 in repairs). Instead, they took the time to troubleshoot, and only needed to reset the HVAC module - less than an hour's worth of labor and no parts. What's more, they contacted me mid-day (same day) to let me know that it was ready to be picked up. Many other garages would have torn my dashboard apart and gone the wrong way with troubleshooting this. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for their professionalism!

After receiving an outrageous $8,500 estimate from a Denver mechanic while stranded on Mother's Day, I had my 2017 VW Tiguan towed to Carbon Valley. Their inspection was detailed, honest, and thorough. They discovered the noise I heard was caused by a rock stuck in the driveshaft -- not a broken turbo as I was told. They removed the debris, topped off fluids, checked all systems, and only found that the brakes needed replacement -- which they completed for $1,270. This shop treated me with respect, transparency, and integrity. I'm a senior woman, and I felt completely at ease with their service. I now know I can trust them with any future repairs. BG Automotive? More like "BS" Automotive. The one star is for an oil change (since 0 stars is not…read morean option). BG Auto IS SHADY, smooth talking for sure, but A RIP OFF. STAY AWAY. This is a lengthy description, but it's not half the story. To all the glowing 5 star reviewers - check your invoices. The problem started with their "courtesy inspection" accompanying the oil change, where half of their recommendations (deemed red flag "Requires Immediate Attention") ultimately turned out to be mostly unnecessary and absurdly expensive. That became apparent only after paying. My bad, of course, I obviously should have asked to see a detailed estimate prior to the work. The initial estimate did not provide parts or labor detail & appeared to indicate the work was part of a "complete tune up." Upon dropping off the truck, "Service Advisor"Jesse stated that Champion copper spark plugs had been factory installed on 2013 RAM 2500s, so that was best & what BG would install. Classic BAIT & SWITCH: BG charged $508.48 for a set of 16 plugs! When I challenged the bill, asking if "kryptonite plugs" were installed instead, Jesse indicated, no, the copper plugs were used... then he checked his computer & stated, actually no, in fact the [far] more expensive NKG iridium plugs were installed. "They're much better because they last up to 100,000 miles," he emphasized. I replied, "Great. BG just changed out NGK iridium plugs that had been in the engine already, with only 60,000 miles on them." The WORK WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. Also on the bill was a "TOTAL FEES" charge of $175.77 (yes, that specific), but with ZERO DETAIL of what those fees were for or how they were calculated. Jesse couldn't provide that detail either, "It could be shop supplies, or hazardous disposal - you know, those state regulations - it could be almost anything." Note there were no hazardous materials involved with this work, such as a tire or battery disposal fee. (Google search indicates: In Colorado, shop fees are usually calculated as a percentage of the labor cost (e.g., 5-10%) and are often capped at a maximum amount (e.g., $25 to $50). Also, Colorado statute requires the repair invoice to have some kind of description of these fees, and further, "a description of each part by name and identifying number." Nowhere on the invoice was the type of plugs installed specified, either. You get NADA DETAIL from BS Automotive. Finally, while repair shops typically mark up parts 70-100% of wholesale price, BG is marking up parts in the ballpark of 100% of retail price. (If you can pry out of them the parts brand they say they'll use, you can easily verify this with a Google search at their counter.) They should be ashamed and embarrassed for what they're charging the hardworking folks of Longmont. When pressed to justify the charges, Jesse insisted they were competitive, "within 5% of other local repair shops." More BS. Comparing apples to apples (parts & labor only), the local dealership quoted over $200 less, the Loveland repair shop I've frequented in the past was over $400 less (obviously, checked after the fact...). If the handful of other shops Jesse quoted are actually within 5%, they are ripping us off too. Jesse would not budge on the final bill, but he did offer to comp me an oil change. As if! I had already told him I would never set foot in BG Automotive again. However, I would take a call from the BG Automotive (Owner) to provide the rest of the story about this pathetic BG encounter.
