Stew Leonard's is great all around. Yummy offerings, many of which are easy to pop in the oven and make for a great quick dinner. It's the absolute best with small children, as there are always really fun "car" carts and the buttons and interactive music throughout is so fun-- it really helps you actually shop while they are distracted by it all. Prices are decent as they usually have sales, especially if you use the app. But mostly, I have never had an unpleasant experience with anyone who works there. It seems like every employee is kind and warm, and very helpful. The last time we went Becca went above and beyond and made our day. My boys left the store with the biggest smiles. Also, every wine we have ever bought from here that has been recommended by the in-house expert has been delicious! Now we only buy wine if it has his stamp on it. Don't sleep on Stew's! I LOVE Stew Leonard's in Clifton. Great selection of food, wine and spirits. Children will be thoroughly entertained by all of the sites and sounds. They constantly have deals and a pretty nice buffet bar too. They have a seafood spot, a butcher and even a sushi area. Whenever there is a prominent Holiday, this Stew Leonard's goes all out with the decorations and even goes as far as making, baking and selling the food with the inspiration of said holiday. I love Stew Leonard's! Some things can be a bit more expensive than other grocery stores, but the quality of everything is a step above the rest. Also... having fun little cow animatronics everywhere and free samples really distracts me from the prices I think. They have a lot of items from their own Stew Leonard's brand, but they have regular brands too! This is a great place to get fresh seafood, meats (steaks, chops, deli meat), cheese, dressings, dips, fresh rolls and bagels. Their spicy guac is out of this world and they have an interesting selection of salads (blt pasta salad, chicken salad, etc). There's even a hot bar with premade food (fried chicken, freshly made pizzas), sushi, and there's a bakery. Not to mention a decently priced alcohol section with a pretty wide selection. Truly it's a one-stop-shop! I agree with someone who said it's built like a maze, but it does become a bit easier to navigate after a few times going - there's a shortcut in the middle with a bathroom! It's also sometimes fun to walk through everything and see what's new. I also love the rewards app, so I get a free iced coffee or ice cream cone every $100 I spend OR I can transfer those points to discounts on other items. It's been years since I visited a Stew Leonard's and this one was in the same complex where I had an appointment so I decided to stop in. The store was bright, well organized, lively and filled with so many great products. Not to also mention that the staff was super friendly and helpful too. I can't believe it took me a year and a half to finally make it to Stew's! What a mistake! I love it there! Lots of great options from the Sourdough to the hot food selections (love the pulled BBQ pork) to the fresh seafood and produce. The aisle snakes through the store, however there are cut-throughs if you need to get to a different section. Everyone has been friendly there. It has animatronic singing animals and avocados for the kids. It's fun for the kids to watch. Lastly is their amazing ice cream bar. For every $100 you spend you earn a free soft serve ice cream (or coffee, I think). I love the soft serve ice cream at the end of a shopping trip. Just make sure you have your rewards on your phone app! What a great touch to the shopping experience. I will need to take pictures the next time! read more

Have never been to a Stew Leonard's before this one opened. It's a cool store with a lot of decent items. Store is built like a snake so you have to pass everything. Clever set up lol. The bagels are excellent, have had a few. I love the bakery section, plenty of good stuff. They have hot food, and a cold cut counter. Meat, seafood, and produce sections have a lot of different items that make them stand out among supermarkets. They have a huge liquor section as well. If you'd like they have fresh coffee and you can get ice cream cones or shakes to go. Not bad. I don't know if I'd do my regular shopping here but it's good to stop for some specialty items or dinners when you don't have time to cook. I'll be here plenty. read more

Stew Leonard's is a family business that has seven locations in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. It is originally noted for it's dairy products. Today it is noted for it's fresh milk (New York State) chickens (Pennsylvania), meats (Midwest) and turkeys (Virginia) which are raised on vegetables and contain no antibiotics. I visited the store after I read Diane's review on YELP. After I perused the store, I found things that I was interested in buying. I bought their apple cider at $6 a gallon, two packages of blackberries at $7 and a 1.75 litter bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream. I couldn't leave the store without purchasing a classic sundae large for $6. Stew also sells products under their own label. Stew has rules and his first rule is "The Customer is Always Right". I tested him on that. At least in my case, Stew was right. A miss marked bottle of "Bailey's Irish Cream only cost me $21. read more

I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. I had a blast. It's like ikea but grocery store. You walk through this maze of groceries and around every corner there's a little nice surprise of animals singing and dancing when you press a button. They have everything you can look for and it's like if Whole Foods and Trader Joe's had a baby. Lol Their chocolate peanut butter bar is so good! Along with fresh orange juice and sugar cane juice. Very expensive at $11.99 for orange and $6.99 for sugar cane but it's freshly squeezed and I don't get it often. They have the soft serve counter which is my fav. Saw every variety of chicken burger up in front of store except.... Faith approached me and asked me if I needed any assistance. Definitely not your regular grocery store. Still not sure how to utilize it correctly. We bought our Christmas tree here this year. It was a good price and lasted longer than most trees we have gotten. We went by the folks for Memorial Day weekend and were told about how grand this place is and the quality products. There were a plethora of items but nothing really stood out to me as a WOW factor. The folks couldn't stop raving about the fried chicken and how delicious it is. Hubby and I decided to grab a few things. We ordered a 15 Piece Chicken Special and I asked if it could be all wings. Two employees went back and forth with me about how I'll be charged by weight and not the price reflected as a special. I didn't understand the logic behind this. The employees at the hot station weren't budging although I stated my parents were here two days ago and weren't told they couldn't substitute the pieces of chicken they wanted. The guy told me that his coworker wasn't supposed to do that. He always does that and he's not suppose to. I said so why is he still employed here? Crickets all around. Go figure. Then he proceeded to tell me the guy never washes his hands when he serves food. At that point I didn't know if I should laugh hysterically or just walk away. I also stated that there were no signs stating I couldn't chose the chicken of my liking. They stared at me blankly. The guy then asked if I still wanted the chicken and it would be $40 because of the weight. I said I have no choice, I'll take it. When I got to the register I expressed my concerns which prompted Frim to ask for a manager. Faith the manager came over and I told her what was going on. She took my concerns seriously and went over to the hot food section to speak to the manager of the department. Plenty thanks to Frim and Faith for helping me get the correct price adjustment for the chicken wings. It went from $40 back down to $19.99. read more

Stew Leonard's is a bit of a cross between a local market and a true grocery store. Prices are higher than a shop rite but quality is definitely better. You can get fresh baked goods usually with seasonal treats as well, fresh meat and seafood, produce, and plenty of prepared food. There's animatronic displays all through out the store which can be loud and overwhelming or entertaining depending on what mood you're in lol. Really love the fresh seafood and good cuts of meat. The banana bread munchkins from the bakery are so good. Nice to be able to grab a dessert and a bottle of wine in one stop when on your way to an event. read more

Meh. I'm not impressed by this Stew Leonard's. I was very excited to hear that Stew's was coming to Clifton, as that is closer to me, and the traffic up to Paramus can be a nightmare. But alas - the Paramus Stew Leonard's is far superior to the Clifton one. The Clifton store is much smaller (at least it feels like it) compared to the Paramus one. Like others have pointed out, Stew's has a maze like feel to it and it feels small in the Clifton store. My kids enjoy the animatronics, and these seem just thrown into the mix and you don't know which buttons to press (or if you can press them because one looked like an emergency button, lol). Some of the products I love at the Paramus store, I couldn't find at the Clifton store. They have the ice cream and coffee counter which I do enjoy. Their ice cream and coffee is just so good. After walking around the Clifton store briefly and quickly, I grabbed a pistachio ice cream to go. All in all, when I want to go to Stew Leonard's I will continue to sit in traffic and go to the one in Paramus. It's worth it. read more

3 1/2 Stars would be a fair assessment for the new Stew Leonard's from my perspective. I don't have a view on the wine store as I'm not really a customer. The food property has most of the supermarket goods that you would need. The store is enhanced with fun features where you can watch guacamole being made fresh, small donuts being cooked in a hot oil machine, popcorn being popped, etc. The store is more designed for customers to follow a path and walk through the whole store rather than a quick visit. There is a butcher department, sushi, bakery, lots of prepared foods; there's plenty to see and purchase. I found the prices average to a little high. Why 3 1/2 stars then? It's all about perspective. I see the location fits someone that wants to pick out some wine and get groceries at the same time. If you have kids with you and want to shop while they get popcorn, see the animatronics, etc, this is a GREAT place. For me, it's a twenty minute drive, a tight parking situation, and I can get most of these foods at my local supermarkets, so I see myself here less frequently. read more

3.5 stars. I always go to Stew Leonard's in Paramus and we were having lunch nearby Clifton and decided to stop by. Firstly I prefer the layout of the Paramus store because you start at the bakery, then produce and end with the food buffet and pizza. Also service at Paramus is much more friendlier and prompt. The Clifton outlet seems to be trying to strike a balance between being more modern but still retaining the classic animatronics and music was a tad too loud for my preference. At the deli, cashier and ice cream sections, we all had to wait even though there wasn't a line. I will still shop at Stew because their product is quality at reasonable prices but will stick to my Paramus location. read more

My husband was a customer about an hour ago. He stopped at the BBQ area . The brisket and pulled pork were not quite ready. The employee Frankie told him they would be ready in 5 minutes. True to his word, they were. Frankie and his partner Jack went out of their way to get my order ready. When he was ready to leave he tried to tip them for exceptional service. Both said they were not allowed to accept tips. He was impressed with their honesty. Both employees provided excellent service and are a credit to your company. We ordered our whole Thanksgiving dinner from here after tasting all the food at their store. Everything was so good and all we had to do was heat it up! When we got the food home, we realized they forgot to pack the ham. Listen, the place was busy and things happen, no big deal. My sister called and told the gentleman in catering that we got an extra sweet potato, but no ham and asked if we can come back to get it. He apologized and said no need to come back, we will deliver it!!! That is the last thing we expected! They also sent an entertainment platter and pie!!! That is real customer service!!! I picked an order for Super Bowl today It was scheduled for a 4:30 pickup. I got my order at 5:30 So much for convenience. Total inept staff. No leadership what so ever. 4 or 5 employees running around the pick up station filling orders that were supposed to ready for pick up Never again!!!!! There were 6 or seven people behind me at 5:30 today still waiting for unfilled orders. And when I got home half the order was wrong. I'll use my local pizza shop from now on. After shopping at Stew Leonard's in Clifton NJ for 13 months here is my review. For starters prices are higher on most items compared to Shop Rite. Food items are Displayed nicely. Plenty of prepared ready to warm items. Bagel dept. I don't purchase from , I don't like the bagels being displayed in open air bins where flies can land on, and right next to where people walk and pass. Tried some bakery items, not bad. Cakes , are very small and over priced. I did not care for the Carrot cake. Fruit tarts, Ive had better. Meat balls tried twice, don't recommend. Hot smoked meats, DELICIOUS. Fried Chicken Very good. Soups $10 per quart pricey. I go to the polish stores in Garfield I get very good soup for, get this, $5.50 per quart.YUM. Hot Buffet. Chicken Parm seems to always is very good. Mac and Cheese always looks bad,always dry. Most items don't look appetizing. Cold prepared foods, pricey, did not try. Sushi dept. Always fresh and good. Cracker dept WAY WAY over priced. Meat dept .Mostly very nice cuts of meat slightly over priced. Cold cut dept Average. Fish dept. Don't buy fish from here anymore had bad items from here. Sea food stuffing (Crab, Lobster ) in my opinion is sub standard. Stuff mushrooms, too pricey and the stuffing also needs lots of improvement. Eggs fair priced. Cut fruit, highly priced. I am a loyal Paramus shopper expecting to have a fantastic Stew Leonard's experience. It usually takes me an hour to get through the store. The Clifton store took me 25 minutes. It is way too small for the influx of people this store will have. It's open 3 months and it's demolished already. Very unappetizing when you have people behind in front on the side of you. You have to keep moving with the cattle. I usually spend $200, I only spent $58 because I couldn't leave fast enough. I can imagine the holidays there being an entire shitshow. Checkout is horrible. I visited Stew Leonards in Clifton today. The place was clean and well air conditioned. However their store is laid out like a rat maze with many twists and turns just to get to any area of the store. If you need two items and if they are on opposite sides of the store, you're going to be awhile. I will pass next time and hit a smaller liquor store for what I need. read more

I rely on Stew Leonard's in Clifton as my go-to for quality holiday entertaining. This morning, I got there right at opening, hoping to find everything I needed. Unfortunately, the shelves were nearly empty, and the staff was still getting things together after opening. It's a basic principle that the store should be stocked prior to opening. When I asked the catering team about a simple spinach dip that was missing from the shelves among pretty much everything else, I was met with attitude and told it wouldn't be available until the next day. Even though I saw a large stock of it in the back, I was told it was reserved for a private order. I was one of about 10 people in the store and it would have been very easy to make me a small container of the dip as a display of good customer service. It felt more like a big chain store than the family-owned experience I expected, and it was disappointing not to get something as simple as a spinach dip during the holidays. I ended up having to go to Whole Foods which was stocked on time and staff operating efficiently. read more

The noise level from animatronic displays drove me crazy and I am sure the employees are already beyond crazy.The avocado display in particular repeated its little 30 second song at least once a minute.The aisles make no sense and are too narrow for two carts.The produce section is very small and inadequate. No kale,swiss chard or greens.The parking lot has no corrals for carts. The customer service counter was unstaffed. The Styertowne center is a s--t show to begin with .Why did they chose such a poor location.The never yet opened Amazon Fresh location five minutes away on Rt 46 in Woodland Park would have been a far better choice.This store,I predict, will close before January 2025. Tried it and will never be back to this or any SL location.I will stick with Shop Rite. read more
