They have everything you could think of, it's super organized & clean, and I love the interactive elements they had every few steps. Upon entering, I was immediately mesmerized by the delicious smell of the freshly made Apple Cider Donut Holes. I've never seen an item at a grocery store and put it in my cart so fast! As a matter of fact, I opened it and had a few just because they were still warm & fresh. They were so good. I mainly came here for the infamoue Cookie Milk! They had a bunch in stock but it was definitely a popular section. Depending on when you read this, it may be gone so act fast! It's a sweet, creamy milk that reminds me of a sugar cookie. It goes well with cookies, of course, and I even had it with my lattes! The glass bottle is reusable which is a plus! STILLLLLLLL my favorite super market chain by far. We're frequenters of the Stew Leonard's in Paramus and have probably been there more times than we can count. We decided to drop by this relatively new location on a random Saturday in Clifton since we were nearby ... and it's safe to say that this one is as good as any. On the day that we went, samples were being given out everywhere we turned. We couldn't avoid a sample station if we tried! There were so many samples that my wife and I wondered why we even had lunch prior as we could have had a WHOLE MEAL there! Anyhow, having been open for about a year (as of May 2025), this Stew Leonard's is as brand spankin' new as it gets. Like the Stew's in Paramus, I love how everything is so neat and organized. In addition, I love that they lead you through their supermarket with a one way pathway instead of it being like the wild west like other supermarkets. If you've been to a Stew's, they have all of your favorites here - including the ever so aromatic bakery section which always smells like deliciously soft and fresh donuts. If you're craving cooked foods on the fly, there is also a buffet, made to order pizza and sushi. The major highlight here for most people, especially kids (and myself), is the ICE CREAM PARLOR near the entrance. There, you will find some of the best soft serve ice cream your tastebuds ever had - in many flavors I might add. I did have a few gripes, but they were mostly minor. First, the dining area for those who want to grab a seat to eat at was a bit on the tiny side with just a few tables. Also, the curb of the supermarket outside was also small. The moment you walk out of the supermarket you're literally on the road, so you've got to hold onto those kids to prevent them from getting run over. If you've never been to a Stew's you're in for a real treat because you'll probably want to buy everything. Came to visit after a recommendation. Never heard about them but was told it's an experience to try. It was a weekend just when they opened. Food was getting prepared. They do have a lot of selection and stuff for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Definitely high quality products. We picked up a few items. Check out wasn't great. The cashier was not friendly, seemed like she didn't want to be there. The manager at the service desk reflected the same attitude. Prices, there is expensive and very expensive. Stew's very expensive. Not a spot for weekly grocery. The animations were nice but kitchy. Trader Joe's and Costco are nearby. Go there for better value and experience. read more

Visited their Clifton location and loved it. IG was well organized and I was super impressed by how unique this place was. Since the opening of Stew Leonard's in Clifton, it's been a great addition to the shopping center. We have been to this location a few times, same friendly service and available products to try or shop for always in an organized way. Use your Stew Leonard's app often to receive points for every shopping trip. Later on when you have enough, swing by the foods area to receive a free icecream ( many flavor varieties ) or coffee. If you have littles ones. Aside from all the stuffed animals puppets singing and dancing - plenty of fun characters around in different aisles. Look for pushing the button, hear their tunes. Big, shared parking lot. All payments accepted. Bring your reusable bags and enjoy a fun grocery trip. read more

The store is clean, large, and does have a variety of baked goods, prepared foods, groceries, and liquor section. They have good weekly specials. Their snowball rolls and baked breads are the best. They have some great wines that are reasonably priced. I love the samples of food and wines. The employees are all very helpful and nice. They are a real pleasure any time I have been there. Glorified liquor store. Don't like that they stick you in a big hamster wheel and if you don't cut through the halfway point you have to walk the entire store. Their organic selection is non existent. The coffee bar is run by people not trained to make coffeee. It's mostly pre made junk food. I'll buy my alcohol and a smaller liquor store and my food at an actual grocery store. We did get our Christmas tree from them this year and it was very nice, a good price, and it lasted a long time. Every time I come to this location, I fall in love all over again. This location has great food not to mention samples that are out of this world paired next to my red wine. Design is like a maze to get you to every section. Hot buffet looked sloppy with that "film" on some that looked like it was there awhile. Prepared foods too salty and expensive. Meat Fish and bakery items are very good but if you're looking for frozen vegetables like Green Giant or the like, they don't carry them only their own brands. read more

I finally got the chance to check out the new Stew's after a month of its opening. It was a Friday night at around 8, so there weren't many people around. It follows the same layout of the one pathway throughout the store, except they put the ice cream and coffee right at the entrance, which is kind of smart on their part. The aisles feel a little wider than the Paramus location (or maybe it just appeared that way since it wasn't crowded). I think I still prefer the Paramus location but that's just probably because I'm used to that set up and I'm a creature of habit. But I am glad to have the option to go to Stew's if I'm in this neck of the woods. read more

Absolutely love this store! I have been shopping there since they opened. I recently ordered three platters for New Year's Eve. I ordered a shrimp platter, which I have ordered so many times, and as usual it was great! I ordered the 64 piece sushi platter, it was so fresh and delicious. The last platter was the wings platter with blue cheese and buffalo and honey bbq sauces. When I picked it up one of the young men at the counter actually went and got me a cart for everything. When I got home I realized that the sauces were missing. My husband and son went back and the same young man helped them and when they asked for the teriyaki sauce he threw it in for free. We were driving to a pool party in Bloomfield and out of the corner of my eye I saw Stew Leonard's and was like, we must go post-party! Turns out, it was just a liquor shop and not the actual market. We went anyways, of course. I loved open and inviting layout of the store. I was able to pick up two bottles of rose and a moscato that we like. They also have an extensive beer selection and of course, I got a six pack of Kona Big Wave. Staff were very nice and there was someone from a local whiskey distillery doing tastings while we were there. Will definitely come back for my alcohol needs. read more

Great addition to the Clifton area. The staff are kind and friendly and the various food options are excellent (esp to those who don't have time to cook and just need a grab and go.) Really want to compliment this store. I was there one morning by myself to grab a few thing and Stew employees were showing around a group of intellectual disability kids and their aids - showing them the lobster tanks, different animatronics in the store, the deli department etc. It was so nice to see that a store really cares and goes above and beyond for EVERY person and child that walks in their store. Their prices may be a little higher than other supermarkets, but I don't mind paying when I see things like that. Bravo. read more

I have been to the Stew Leonard's supermarket in Paramus, so I knew they did sell wine and spirits, but I have never been to one of their standalone wine and spirit shops. While driving through Clifton one day I saw it out of the corner of my eye and decided to pick up a gift there. The store has its own parking lot and there were plenty of spots, some specifically designated for the store (so if you're visiting another store in the area, be careful where you park). The interior is wide and spacious, with wine, liquor and food sprawled out as far as the eye can see. It can actually be quite intimidating to someone who is nowhere near a wine expert (read: me). Fortunately, a super friendly staff member saw the confusion on my face and offered to help. I was there specifically to find gluten-free wine, and he immediately knew one and he plucked it right off the shelf. We looked for others, but very few say specifically "gluten free" (they sometimes say "vegan" instead). It was okay, I had one bottle to add to my Xmas gift pile and I even found one of my favorite wines, Goru Verde! Every staff member I encountered was super friendly and the store shelves and island displays were all immaculate. The prices were also reasonable to boot. I highly recommend coming here if you need to pick up something for a gift or party! read more

Liquor stores and Italian delis... two of my favorite things that are abundant in North Jersey. You pull up a few minutes before they open and their lot already has a few cars parked (which makes you feel good about not being the only lush in town). You walk in and as the automatic doors slide open it feels like you're walking into a library or cathedral. It's large, it's quiet, it's softly lit, and all those various shapes and sizes and colors of what's for sale look just as nice as the stained glass windows at your favorite basilica. Stopped in today to pick up a very nice red wine that I've had in the past. It's a 2014 La Vigne du Roy Cotes du Rhone. It has a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah grapes. One very nice mellow wine. Also, a great buy at $9.99. While looking around, Jason asked me if I needed any assistance. I asked him if any wine sampling was available. Jason led me over to the wine sampling table. No wines were on the table. However, Jason found three very nice Red wines for sampling. One was a Bordeaux, the second was a Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and the last was a Spanish Red blend of Garnacha and Syrah from Penelope. He told me the prices ranged from $9 to $15. Stew Leonard's has some wonderful wines from all over the world within everyone's price range. The Shop does have a separate area for more exclusive wines. Also, I saw a cigar section. Anyway, you're probably wondering which wine I went home with. I stuck with my original one that I came for the 2014 La Vigne du Roy Cotes du Rhone $9.99. I spent about 10 minutes browsing through the wine & beer sections before choosing the wine (medium priced) & beer (higher end priced) I wanted. Then I waited about 3 minutes for anyone to show up at the 4 empty registers. There were 3 SETS of employees chatting in pairs throughout the store but not a single one ever acknowledged me or any of the other customers. Two major pros for wine shopping at Stew Leonards: 1) Abundance- A vast supply of wines from both every wine country and most known wine growing regions in the USA. Not only will you find your French, Italian, your Napas and your Central Coasts, but you'll also find Long Island, New Jersey, and FInger Lakes represented reasonably well. 2) Price- A volume wine store can generally offer a very good price, and they do. Look for consistent fair prices and occasional sale prices that are extra enticing. Other than that, it's a nice place to browse. The cards with wine descriptions are big and easy to read. The store is very organized by varietals and regions. The refrigerator is large as well if you're more in a beer mood. As of September 19, they were well stocked with all the Fall "Oktoberfest" brews. Craft brews are there and the selection is just OK, however it's obvious that wine is king here. As for liquor, it's available but not strongly displayed. Added perks include occasional wine tastings. Stew Leonards is located in that busy, new chain restaurant/retail area just off of Route 3. There is enough parking fortunately. but the parking lot is certainly busy. Too bad there's not a few more BYOB's a stone's throw away. read more

I stop in on a hunch, hoping to find a bottle of Sparkling Riesling. I've heard they have a large variety. However, no luck. A cashier checked in the computer for me and appointed me to a man named Alberto. Alberto knows his stuff! He was attentive and recommended other wines with a similar acquired taste to the Riesling by Fitz. It was my luck that there was a wine tasting event in which Alberto invited me to join to venture out. 4 different wines. White , sweet and a red dry. I tasted a rosé for the first time and I'm actually in love. Who would of thought I'd come in looking for a wine I totally love to finding a new taste for a bottle of rosé. The prices are fair, the selection is pretty spot on, there are only a few times they don't have some crazy thing I want, staff would pat their tummy and rub their heads if you actually asked I think, and there is always some form of free wine or cheese tasting happening. They also don't charge half the deposits that Bottle King does with kegs. There is only a deposit for the tap and you can put it on a credit card, BK makes you pay cash. They also stock the fun creative wines that Zinbar puts on their menu like Educated Guess for 1/2 the price. Lastly, when they do mess up, they make up for it without asking. I ordered something and they messed it up, they gave me a replacement at cost, threw in some goodies and gave me a coupon from the vendor for a rebate. I didn't even ask for a thing. So I left smiling and will certainly return. Now if only cell phone companies could take a similar approach to customer service....but I digress. read more

Definitely the spot for wine - they have a huge wine area organized by country/region. Lots of reasonably priced bottles. Pretty good craft beer selection as well. Last time I went they had a small shelf for make your own six pack (which I'd never noticed before) so you could only select from the beers on that shelf. I wish it extended to the entirety of their stock like some other places allow but it's still cool to be able to create a sampler pack. Prices are fair. Had I gone to Stew Leonard's prior to going to Total Wine [in West Orange] I would have given Stew 4 stars. The Clifton Stew Leonard's is an extensive wine and beer shop. They layout of the store is relaxed. The hardwood floors, oak shelves and soft lighting give the store a mellow vibe. Wine bottles line the walls by region. On top of each wall section there is a quaint decorative barrel with a neat description of the type of wine. The floor displays are scattered throughout the store. The floor bottles are also grouped by region. Unfortunately, I found the floor layout confusing and difficult to navigate. For instance, the floor wines were grouped by country but there was no signage. Yea, I know... Just look at the bottle, but ain't nobody got time for that! The prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of bottles for under $10! There is also a designated section of fine wines (you know the kind that doesn't come from a box). I think Stew Leonard's is a pretty well well rounded store since it has a decent beer selection, as well as small food section. In the end, I would come back and purchase a bottle if I were in the area. However, as of now, Total Wines is the undisputed champ of boozey-marts. read more
