I ride my bike and walk around the lake almost everyday. It is a great and nice place. And the two guys that run the park do a great job keeping it a nice and clean park. I highly recommend this park. There are always plenty of tables for picnics and they have 2 beach areas for swimming and plenty of bathrooms.

    Beach area in park.

This is by far my favorite area to enjoy and relax. It has a walking trail, campsite, beach and beautiful scenery. Being a resident I get to enjoy this daily and especially on the weekends. Non resident individuals are able to visit and pay a fee. There are special events throughout the year as well. Great for picnics, romantic couples or just to relax and soothe the mind. The sunset is beautiful here. ENJOY!!!

This really is a hidden little gem of a park. I came here to 'proof' my new tent as it was relatively close to where I live in Frisco - strangely enough I was hoping it would rain overnight which would have suited my purposes- however it didn't but that was ok. The park is very clean and I saw maintenance people several times, cleaning up and making sure that things were ok. The staff were very friendly and I felt sure that if there were any issues that they would have been only too happy to help out. The only two drawbacks that I could see was it is on a flight path to DFW and there was plenty of aircraft coming and going overhead but it didn't bother me overmuch - the only other thing is some really inconsiderate folks with boats on the lake seem to have a pissing contest with how much louder they can play their rap music in competition with other similarly rap playing boats - it was like an Olympic event. Personally, I don't particularly object to the expletive laden lyrics (although some families with kids might) but I did kind of take issue with the volume it was being thrown out at - that put a kind of a kink into what otherwise would have been a really idyllic late spring evening. The sunset over the lake was lovely (see pic) the ants are, I'm guessing kept under control here which, if you've been to the horrendously expensive Hidden Cove Marina, they aren't. To summarize this is a very nice, well maintained park - great for camping or fishing - good park play areas if you have kids - well marked trails - and good value for money. I recommend it.

A view from a bench just off the trail.

Not friendly and very anti dog. Ride around every few hours just looking for anything to complain about.

I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. I can't wait to bring friends and family here!

My husband and I came here for a weekend trek, and it's easily one of the best outdoor spots in North Texas. What I love most is the versatility. Whether you're looking for a smooth, paved stroll or want to get your boots a little dusty on the dirt hiking trails, they've got you covered. It's a great mix of elevation and flat stretches. It's a great spot for everyone. Pets are welcome (on leashes!), and there is a fantastic playground near the parking lot--perfect for kiddos who still have energy to burn after a hike. You'll see a beautiful variety of plants and likely some local wildlife. Just a heads-up: they do have warning signs posted for snakes and poison ivy, so definitely keep an eye on your surroundings while you explore. The parking lot is huge, but this place is popular! We arrived around 1:00 PM and it was nearly at capacity. We were lucky to snag a stall, but I'd definitely recommend arriving earlier in the morning if you want to avoid the parking hunt.

Which was about 30 mins into the trail (I'm a slow walker tho) They do have some areas you can cut through to get to other trails but I don't recommend trying this after it rains because it's very muddy. The scenery from the tower was beautiful. I do wish they had more benches to rest though because there were only two on the trail we took. At the entrances there is a park for kids to play and a barbq area that looks over the trail. There's also plenty of parking! And the restrooms seem decent
