We took a beautiful scenic and educational 3mi walk. The Girl Scouts troop 241 were handing out seed balls for flowers to bring monarch butterflies to the area. The weather was so amazing and a great time with my family.

It was a quick little hike, definitely a little sketchy at some points, and lots of trash everywhere along the shore, but my dogs enjoyed it and enjoyed having access to get in the lake. We went super early and there was no else on the trail, so we definitely liked that.

I didn't see any other reviews for the Shoreline Trail so I'm going to go into detail. I'm on it at least 3 times a week and I've been from one end to the next so I'll do my best to include everything. For the record, I love this trail and I've been on it with people ages 5-65 by foot and on a bike. It's great for walking, running, biking, dogs, all ages and all skill levels. The trail is 3.5 miles long, approximately 10 feet wide, made of crushed granite, wooden bridges and the occasion cement overpass. Mile markers and directional markers are visible every .25 mile. Seating, informational signage, trash and recycle receptacles and dog waste stations are located throughout. Emergency access trails and shortcuts are marked as well as access to nearby restaurants. Free parking is available at two separate trailheads (right outside the entrance to Stewart Creek Park (3700 Sparks Rd. and at Ridgepoint Park 4401 Standridge Dr.). The trail features views of Lewisville Lake and surrounding landscape. In certain areas the trail runs behind neighborhoods/homes and in other areas seems more rural. There are plenty of opportunities to see wildlife (from a safe distance) and native plants. I've personally seen deer, coyote, various birds and more bunnies than I can count. The majority of the trail is wide open but some areas are tree lined and shaded (wear a hat). About a 1.5 miles from the Stewart Creek Park entrance the trail runs past Scout Park where you'll find a pond and fountain. It's usually loaded with turtles and ducks and the occasional young fisherman. The trail is used for various organized runs throughout the year, otherwise it's not at all crowded. There is also a Trail Ranger volunteer program where I believe you can join or have a TR take you on a guided walk. This site is a good resource for the various trails located in The Colony and provides maps http://visitthecolonytx.com/nature-trails. If you like the Shoreline Trail you should also check out the Tribute Shoreline Trail. Personal note: I LOVE THIS TRAIL! It's a fantastic place to soak up some nature, burn calories, bond with two and four-legged family and get away without going too far. I encourage anyone looking for a trail or new run/walk site to check it out. I do ask that you pick up after yourself or your animal - Don't mess with Texas or its' trails.

Real nice trail. very long so great for bikes!! saw lots of joggers and some walkers out while my son and i enjoyed the Autumn air by the lake. really cute playground that is shaped like a giant pirate ship!! cute since its next to the marina and boat dock!! great lake views! sunrise & sunset!!! lots of picnic tables with shelter. and near playground is a bathroom. male/female separated. :) good for dogs! lots of poop bags and trash cans with mowed grass! can get right on shore line and see wildlife. at one spot near free parking at entrance is a giant stone sandal on the ground. YOU get to stand in the middle and tell time! my son even made friends with a little girl whos family was having a bbq nearby at a table!! not bad for a thursday!

What an absolute gem in the concrete dfw metro. So nice to find a unique running trail and not just a wider concrete neighborhood sidewalk. Wide dirt trail well maintained great views. Thank you to the city of the colony

This is a cool area park with a hiking trail attached. Came…read morehere on a damp Saturday morning for quick hike. The park itself is in a residential area, across from a large apartment complex and has a playground and plenty of open field to run around. The trail head starts a few hundred feet from the parking lot, at the end of short loop there's a sign for Dorba trail. I didn't see as much signage when I first started so I wasn't sure where I was going. A few minutes in I ran into blue trail signage and things improved. I ended up transferring to red trail and finished on the black trail. I saw an area of the black trail marked "challenge" but I think that was just due to the tree roots above the ground surface. There are separate paths for bikers versus hikers which was nice, and I think this a great trail for beginners (little to no elevation or areas requiring scrambling) who want flat terrain that isn't too challenging. Also, nice for someone looking for something less populated. I only saw one other person while hiking for an hour. A-ok experience, and I'd visit again if in the area.

As far as hiking goes, it's "OK" and I would rate it as easy. There are a couple of *small*…read moreinclines along the trails, but like most of north Texas, 99% of the trails are flat and not rocky at all, so I would recommend this for all skill levels. There are a handful of loops you can try (all with exciting names such as Blue Trail, Red Trail, Yellow Trail). Depending on how creative you get, you can probably stretch the distance out to four miles. Some of the trails meander alongside a serene creek. It's maintained by DORBA, so it's obviously going to be biker friendly. However, these trails weren't overwhelmed with off-road Lance Armstrong wannabes the couple of times I have been out there. Although there isn't a lot of elevation change, there are plenty of twists and turns along the trails for the bikers. Speaking of which, there is a decent looking section that is just for bikers and it has some pretty sick looking dirt hills/ramps, etc. It really did look cool. Hikers should stay OUT of this area! The rest of the park: Limited parking lot, but you can park on the street if necessary (it's usually not crowded here). There's a covered pavilion near the parking lot with a handful of picnic tables, a playground and there are a few benches in the main park area. Enjoy getting outdoors folks!
