The site I was moved to had not been prepped and there is moss on the pad. I called and spoke with 4 different people and no one showed. The landscaping/maintenance people drive by several times each day. I finally decided to 'live' with it but it wasn't right. I haven't seen another site in this condition in the entire park. Overall, it was an amazing and relaxing weekend, but I feel like it's a great place for those with families close by to Ottawa, but not sure if it's worth the trek from Toronto. There were a lot of FAMILIES. We didn't see anyone on our hikes, and only a few older couples during our canoeing in the smaller lake, but they were mainly on the beaches and in the camp sites. Our ACTIVITIES included a hike along Sylvan Trail (1.5hr). The park had a guide that you can borrow from the Trailhead. It basically made you aware of the changing terrain (Dense woods, pastures and others) and different types of rock that you may not realized (lots of grade 7 geography here). Also did a mini easy hike along Lally Homestead (about .5 hr) thru pastures, woods and ends up at a old farmhouse and fields. Also a nice marsh/creek area, but lots of animal poop. There's a day use beach that was small and full of families. The main beach, was bigger with nice green grass to lie on rather than the usual sandy parts. There were a lot of people, but it didn't seem to crowded. The swimming areas were small and roped off - as the rest of it was very seaweedy. It would have been nicer if the landing area for the canoes wasn't also in the swimming area. You can also CANOE / KAYAK, which could be rented at the Park Store. The canoe was $24 for 4 hours. You can either depart from the area near the store (but still have to carry the canoe a bit of the way) and go around Loon Lake or rent the canoe at the main beach. It would have been nice to get some help from the store to move it to the shore, but oh well. Loon Lake was nice and quiet with no motor boats and only a few others on the lake. Lots of fish here, sunfish and some bigger ones. They like worms more than bait - you don't even need to fish, just dip the worm in the water and someone will bite! I felt like the fish whisperer or something. Great place to bring the kids for fishing. The CAMPSITE at Fallows was nice, far away from others with lots of trees. Some of the sites, the car is up on a hill, and you need to walk down a bit , but I didn't mind it too much. We were warned that Racoons were frequenting the sites but we had no idea what we were in for. As we were setting up the tent, the worms we bought were just on the ground. We turned around and something bit it and ate all the worms! No kidding - so we were more careful, but every night we had a visitor. They had no fear and even came up to the table as we were eating! I shone the flash light at them and saw 4 beady little eyes staring back at me peeking from behind the tent. The next night, they were up on the tree and ran across the site. The final night, as we were relaxing at the campfire, I saw beady eyes and ears climbing on top of my chips at the table! The FACILITIES were okay, could have been better. Our campsite had a dirty underwear buried in the dirt, wax all around where the tent could have been, and aluminum cans left in the firepit. Would have been nice if they maintained it better. The WASHROOMS were okay, but they need to clean it more than once a day (only in the morning at 9am) and not during peak hours. At night it was filthy. One of the faucets was very powerful (not sure why) and made everything around it wet. I did very much like the $5 pancake breakfast the Friends of the Park offered. Although they had run out and hour into the service, 3 sausages, 3 pancakes, coffee and juice for $5. Sometimes they also do a barbeque. We saw a lot of ANIMALS here including porcupine, caterpillar, frogs, deer, raccoons and snakes. It could be because the the park sits on a border of different climates and terrains (I know this thanks to the trail guide). It was nice, but even the landscape wasn't breathtaking as some other places we've been. Definitely a very good family campground. I also learnt that lots of young teenage girls like to straighten their hair (when it's already super straight) and put make up on when they are camping. Not sure why.

Unfortunately, they still had the picnic tables all in a pile and chained up, so we couldn't use them. The park was covered in goose poop, so we didn't want to eat on the grass and ended up eating in the car, lol. Parking is not free at this park, you have to pay. The parking lot is owned by Indigo Parking and it's $1.25 an hour with a 4 hour maximum. The parking lot is also fairly small, so it fills up quickly. If the parking lot is full, there really isn't anywhere else you can park so you'd be out of luck. The turn to get into the parking lot and thus the park is marked, but the road is small, not even 2 full car widths, so it's easy to miss. I missed it first time around and had to double back. Also since the road in is narrow, if someone is coming in and someone else is coming out, the person coming out has to back up. I don't know who designed this place, but I'm not all that impressed with the entrance/exit layout. So as you can see, this park and I did not start off on the right foot, lol. It is pretty, if you disregard all the goose poop and the loud geese walking around. The rapids are cool and there are sections of the park that are picturesque. I personally would be reluctant to bring small kids here because I feel that it's pretty dangerous there if you are not careful. You can fall in the water. Not all sections are adequately fenced off for my comfort level. However, I am a stickler for safety. But I realize that nature is inherently dangerous, so I guess there is some risk to experience its beauty. Glad I got to see the park and the rapids, but I likely won't be back.

I had no idea this place existed until our photographer, Jamie from Hello Lovely Ottawa, suggested…read moreit for our maternity shoot! We were there last summer in June. We weren't the only ones there for a photoshoot either, as we saw a pregnant woman and her partner with a photographer, as well as another couple who seemed to be taking engagement photos. Great location for them! We met Jamie in the parking lot and had no idea what the park would be like, but when we walked down into the park area, it opened up to this huge green space that we didn't expect. There's lots of open green space and small hills, some picnic tables, a few paths in between the trees, and locks where a few people were fishing. It was so beautiful and peaceful at during the "golden hour" at sunset on a weekday, and no mosquitos or any other bugs really, maybe because it was a little windy. I'm not sure what it would be like on weekends during the day, when I could see a lot of families playing and picnics happening. I completely forgot about this park until now, so I can't wait to go back with our babe when the whether is nice! In the meantime, enjoy a few photos of my husband and I screwing around during our photoshoot lol (Just two weeks before our little guy decided to introduce himself to the world!)

Brewer Park is really popular all year round. It's located right off of Carleton University,…read morebetween Bronson and Sunnyside, on Brewer Way, right next to the Ottawa River. It's used quite a bit for sports, as it has numerous soccer and football playing fields, baseball diamonds, a basketball net, a hockey arena and speed skating oval in the winter, and is close to Brewer Pool for indoor swimming. It also has bike paths, play structures, a pond, and even a mini waterpark, which makes it particularly fun for kids and families. I always see children playing here with their family, friends, and pets, as well as Carleton students that live so close by. The first time I visited Brewer Park was in the fall for House of Paint, an annual graffiti festival, with live art, DJs and MCs, breakdancing, and BBQ. It takes place at the legal wall under Dunbar Bridge, and the festival is eco-friendly, community-supported, and unique.

It might even be my favourite place to bring kids in the city, especially on a hot day. There's an awesome two tiered splash pad here, along with 4 or 5 awesome play structures (which are accessible). There's tons of room for kids to run around, and there's also some other cool features to explore like the community garden, pond, and legal graffiti wall. They have public washrooms and they're fairly clean. This is a fantastic place to bring the little ones, but the House of Paint hiphop festival is also a ton of fun for adults.

Park downtown Kingston, with access to the ferries and marina. Easy to get to from the highway …read more Nice spot to enjoy some ice cream or picnic. They have statues/ art, a fountain, an old time train and tourist office. There is also a walk from Ottawa to Kingston that goes through the park. Came on a cloudy day so wasn't too busy and the ferries were closed. The highlight and main attraction was the Kingston life size letters to take photos with as the "I".

I know probably no one will go to this park, but I had to put a review here…read more On my drive between Montreal and Toronto, we needed to have a pit stop to have a quick bite to eat and to stretch our legs. I planned on only staying for 15 minutes max, so we could get to Toronto sooner. Then, after finally hitting downtown and parking in a garage (it was $1 for 30 min...), I said "We have 30 mins max." We walked to the park, which was amazing. People were outside, the fountain was beautiful, and the weather was absolutely perfect (I know the park didn't make the weather nice, but still). There were hot dog vendors out (there were like 6, and I got the Polish sausage, which was divine). There was a street sidewalk fair of the people in the area selling various goods (I bought some homemade soap and I got some locally grown blueberries to snack on). We eventually stayed for a little over an hour. It was an hour well spent. If you are ever making the drive from Montreal to Toronto (or the other way), and the weather is nice, I highly recommend decompressing at this quaint little town. You will not be disappointed! BTW, the downtown is vibrant, lots of places to eat, hang out.

It's a large park with a splash pad, restrooms, a sidewalk along the waterfront, and a sandy beach with a swimming area. There is good tree cover (at least when I was there in August) so you don't have to roast in the sun. Lots of children and dogs were enjoying the day, and there are benches and picnic tables to enjoy your lunch. It's not far from the departure point for Gananoque bout tours and has a nice view of the St. Lawrence River.
