Took my wife to get a jersey peach milkshake. Which I said let's go to chick filet. But we ended up at Stewards. The service and staff are absolutely the best. But the peach milkshake. I knew we were in trouble when I saw the girl wiping some orange stuff on the inside of the cup. Long story short I spent $20.40 on two vanilla plain milkshakes plus a $4.60 tip. I've been patronizing this place for over 40 years and have had many lunches and dinners bought and served! The last few years I've noticed many changes to the food. It's not the same and the portions are horrible! Bought 2 Cheesesteaks and 2 fries with cheese. Not only did they give me half the fries I have received in the past. They barely put any cheese on them. So you can basically say that is the last time you will ever get my $50 Not worth the money to eat anywhere in Vineland anymore! No idea why this place is marked as permanently closed. It hasn't been nor is it. It's obviously seasonal though. I haven't been to a Stewart's since I was a kid. We went about two weeks ago and it was great. Service was super friendly and the place is clearly maintained well. They have an outdoor area in the back that appears upgraded. It looks like a nice spot to stop with kids. Food was good. The root beer was a nostalgic slap. I was pleased to see they have plant based options. We pulled up right before closing within the last week just to get two iced teas to go. They clearly had cleaned everything and were minutes from shuttering. We asked if it was too late to order some drinks and the answer was a sincere "Of course not!" from the same server. Good customer service is so refreshing. Well, for one thing, I ordered 3 double cheeseburgers and an order of onion rings. Simple. Nothing complicated. The price for this was $39.00 plus they always expect a great tip. The server comes to the car with a stapled brown paper bag and waits for the money. I paid the money and tipped her but she acted like the tip wasn't enough. Now here's the kicker. I drive about 40 minutes to get home and put the bag of food on the bookshelf to eat for dinner. I then decided to take a nap as I worked all day and was tired. When I woke up, I was hungry and ready to eat my double. The other 2 doubles that I ordered were for someone else. So I open the stapled bag and guess what? Only 2 doubles and no onion rings!!! Would you be upset?? I was livid. How hard is it to take an order and CHECK the order before you hand it over to the customer?!? So naturally I called Stewart's and the same girl that took the order answered the phone. I asked to speak to the manager and she said that she was the "acting manager" whatever that means. Basically, she didn't give a flip about the problem and had a bit of attitude. Her defense about the screw up on the order was that the order was given to the kitchen and once the food is prepared it goes in a bag and gets stapled shut. I then said to her, "Well shouldn't YOU make sure the order is correct before you give it to the customer??" I mean they expect great tips and the price of the food there is not cheap either. What a treat! We were on our way home from the shore and wanted to stop for lunch some place different. Stewart's is so cute! It's an old-fashioned drive-in where you literally pull up and a car hop comes out and takes your order. We ended up ordering a pulled pork sandwich with a small side of slaw and a double Taylor pork roll sandwich. We also ordered a Black Cow float and a black and white milkshake which both arrived in frosted glass mugs. The food is placed on your open window so you can enjoy it in your car, or you can eat at one of their tables in a cute back lot. My wife and I passed this place for years on our way to Atlantic City. On our way back home we decided to make a stop for the first time as I wanted to finally try their blueberry shake. An old time style Drive In Diner that's stood the test of time, since 1974. You can drive up and park at the front and a waiter will walk up to your car to take your order, and bring you a window clip tray with your food, so that you can eat in the comfort of your own car. There's also a small parking lot with a few benches in the back where you can park and eat and enjoy the fresh air. Since most of the staff is only able to be outdoors, they operate between March and October (they usually close Nov 1). Their Cheesesteaks are really tender and juicy and the bread is soft and has the chewy texture you'd expect from a quality fresh baked roll. I suggest the Cali style to add some veggies to your roll, but definitely try the cheesesteaks they have on the menu. Another must have is the Root Beer float, since Stewart's originally started as a Root Beer company before opening a Drive In. The ice cream they use lends a smooth and creamy texture to the root beer and definitely helps cool you down during the hot summer heat. The Jersey Fresh Strawberry shake is another sweet and refreshing shake that I recommend (when it's in season), the fresh strawberries taste way better than the original strawberry shake that's available throughout open season. Definitely worth a stop if you're around the area for a great drive in experience and some great drinks. read more

The service is always good, everyone is nice and they don't forget you even if you sit at one of the tables in the back! Somehow they always see you! We came before a truck pulled up and were served before the truck, even though we sat in the back! I was a big fan of this place, especially since this came in clutch during quarantine! We stopped by and it was super busy, but service did not slack! We ordered quickly and got our food within 15 minutes. The burger was a classic and delicious. I inhaled it for sure. The cheese fries were perfect, my favorite style of cheese for cheese fries. And my husband's hot dog disappeared in a minute... so I think it's safe to say he liked it. He also got a root beer, and ya can't go wrong with that here! When paying, we got to pick out a pen and keep it (for quarantine cleanliness). I thought that was thoughtful and interesting. My only wish is that it had a better location with a view! This is a place my Dad took me to as a kid. I now take my kids there. The food was always pretty good but we went for the Rootbeer. I recently went back and honestly it had been a couple of years. I always get the same thing a burger and cheese fries. Well when I got my buyer this time I was floored. The flavor in this burger was amazing and I knew it had to be homemade. The kids had cheeseburgers, fries and a kids milkshake and dad had a chicken cheesesteak, tater tots, and a strawberry and banana milkshake. Everything's was really good! The family has to go at least once each summer. Stewart's is a 50's styled eatery where you drive up and the hottie waitresses (called carhops) take your order in your car, then hang the little trays on food on your window. You sit in your car and eat. It's kinda fun to do if it's not too hot out. They make an outstanding rootbeer floats called a "Black Cow." They do burgers, fries, cheesesteaks, pork roll sandwiches and stuff like that. I LOVE their cheese fries. I've been coming here since I was a kid (31 now) and the food and service has always been nothing but awesome. I have no idea what happened, but they have fallen. Firstly, the giant menu signs were missing from the walls of the building. Apparently they got new ones that wouldn't be ready until a couple weeks into the season. Fine, easily overlooked. But then... Hey, new menus! Clearly advertising cold brew coffee drinks such as coffee cows and iced drinks. I am given a tiny cup of hot coffee full of melted ice cream and told "we don't do cold brew coffee." Really? Cause I read differently. My partners cherry float was less than half full of soda, the rest soft serve that didn't quite reach the top of the cup. It was a cup of depression we asked to be remade. All of the old favorites you've ordered for years have been reinvented. Some for better, some not so much. The cheese fries of old are gone. Replaced by cheese fries with just enough cheese to say it's on there. They are sadness fries. read more

Stewart's is what Sonic aspires to become. But Stewart's is the real deal. A relic from the past: The old-fashioned drive-in with car hop window service. You almost expect to see Ralph and Potsie slamming back black cows in a Studebaker in the next stall. You don't necessarily go to Stewart's for the food, although it is very good--especially the fries. You go for the atmosphere and the great old-fashioned root beer served in a frosted glass mug. The stuff in the bottles at the grocery store pales in comparison to the icy, foamy ambrosia they serve here. There's just something about food and drink eaten from a plastic orange tray precariously hanging from your car window. If you car happens to be a '57 Chevy Bel Air or a '66 Mustang convertible, so much the better. But you won't feel out of place if you drive up in your '09 Prius or Dodge Minivan. The food is of high quality and the fried stuff always tastes clean and flavorful (instead of like 10w30 Castrol, which happens at some places where they don't change the oil often enough). It's a bit on the pricey side compared to fast food chains. It's kid-friendly, but because you're eating in your car and the food isn't cheap, you might want to save Stewart's for a nostalgic date night with your sweetie. An obvious addition to that night would be a trip to the nearby Delsea Drive-In to complete the retro experience. Open daily from April through October, depending on how the seasons behave. It's always fun to come here, but boy is it expensive for the novelty of sitting in one's car. The french fries do not impress me. Ok..... first let me say, I wait for every spring to come to Stewart's Drive-In....... its like coming out of hibernation from winter. I've never had a problem with any of the girl who "car-hop" to take the order. In fact, I think they do a good job of being responsive. I've been coming here for years prior to joining Yelp. This year was no different..... as soon as they opened up, I paid a trip. Well, "paid a trip" is the theme in this review. Now I know, its a burger joint, greasy spoon, etc.... "healthy choices" are not what a drive-in is about in the first place. And i know food prices are going up and up. I place an order for a chicken cheese steak, fries, and large root-beer. Damage came out to $11.60'ish.... the chicken cheese steak alone was $6.50 Now normally I wouldn't mind, since its suppose to be "comfort food", but even though the chicken cheese steak wasn't bad, it was just ok. The size of the chicken cheese steak, was either a 6 or 8 inch roll cut in half. The chicken wasn't "chipped", it was a chunky version, which is not bad in itself. It wasn't bad, but I'd like to consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to chicken/beef cheese steaks. To sum up it was "meh". So Ok, I figured the fries would bail out the trip.... nope! The fries were a little bit overdone (some browning).... I've been there before when the fries would be just perfect. A little salt, and some ketchup, and your good to go. I don't know.... maybe just a "bad experience" , but I'll have to be really "want it" before I go again. Sorry, just being honest.... next time I go, I'll get a burger. BTW, a cheeseburger is $4.50.... so it will come out to 9.60....
