What a hidden gem. We stopped here on our way to Columbus. Wanted something other than your typical fast food joints. And we found a gem. It is def a blast from the past atmosphere. Pull-up, read the menu, press the button and order. Give it about 10-15 minutes and served to your vehicle. Staff was friendly and helpful. But the food! Oh the food! You couldn't beat the price, freshness and the taste. Other people traveling with me ordered the quarter pound and double quarter pound, they both could stop talking about how good it tasted down to the freshness of the burger patty itself. Me, I got the foot long hot dog. Couldn't beat the freshness. We also enjoyed the root beer, cause of course you cannot miss that at all root beer stand. I stumbled upon this 101 year-old local legend, all American carhop when driving through town so I had to stop. From what I saw, they already had good reviews and my visit here did not fail. I got the super burger, which was perfect with their homemade super sauce, curly fries with a side of cheese sauce, and Stewart's own root beer. Rundown and in need of an update or remodeling it's appearance tskes you back in time, from a distance. Upon closer inspection, It needs repairs, cleaning and several massive potholes filled and properly paved over. The business open days/hours change almost weekly so it's best to check before making a special trip to the remote north end of town. Aside from their shakes, floats and burgers nearly everything else i have tried has been inconsistent or very sub-par. The most delicious frosty mug of root beer I've had since I was a child. A drive-in like I remember. Car service from a friendly car hop. A full menu to choose from. So hard to make a decision. Their signature rootbeer and orange cream sodas are excellent and nothing can compare! But, when it comes to food, there is definitely room for improvement. I ordered several items to try, since their prices are soooo reasonable. My peanut butter milkshake was the perfect thickness and very tasty. Their fried pickles come as 3 spears, rather than the typical bunch of breaded slices. I was very surprised at how the flavor of the pickle really stands out better with the spears compared to typical slices. Their batter on the pickles was thin and flavorful, looks like it may even contain dill seasoning. I also ordered a cheeseburger. The attendant who took my order over the speaker did not ask me how I would like it dressed; so, I was expecting it fully dressed, which was my mistake. I received a plain hamburger; no cheese, no lettuce-tomato-onion, no mayo or mustard. Just a thin dry patty on a bun. I also ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich. The beef was flavorful but dry, and the cheese was almost nonexistent. I ordered a footlong coney with sauce, cheese and onions. I guess they didn't have any chopped onions and they must've put the last of their cheese that they scraped out of the jar on my philly cheesesteak. The sauce tasted okay, but not good enough to do somersaults over and it was not very plentiful. Their onion rings. Oh, their onion rings..... Let me just say that I am a lover of all things onion. There was a thin onion hidden away inside of all of that breading. If you closed your eyes and envisioned biting into a perfect onion ring, this would not be it! I would give it a 2 out of 10; a 2 because the flavor of the breading was decent. If you can find a Frisch's Big Boy (their getting scarce); try their onion rings, they never disappoint! Lastly, I ordered their deep fried veggies. Well, their menu states "broccoli,cauliflower". So, I was expecting both broccoli and cauliflower, since I ordered the deep fried veggies and the attendant on the speaker did not ask me if I wanted one or the other. Well, I got only the cauliflower. It was good and the breading a good ratio to the vegetables, although the breading was somewhat soggy and not crispy. If your looking for a place with good drinks and good ice cream, this is the place. But, if your looking for a good meal at a burger joint, this is not the place to go. I would like to add that the person who took my order and delivered my food were both very friendly. I enjoyed the nostalgia of being able to order food from my car and have it delivered. Stewart's is more low-key than Sonic, and had extremely retro prices and a great step back in time ambiance, which really helped with the feeling of nostalgia. read more

The food is good. It's the same as it has always been. The prices have gone up just a little bit but it's so cheap you can't even tell. The vibe is great. It's a small town little in drive-in service is amazing. I pulled in 10 minutes till close and they didn't complain and had to order done and ready in a timely fashion! An old fashioned drive in eatery with great menu options like shredded chicken, cheese ham, fried mushrooms, classic Stewart's root beer and more! Food prices are reasonable and priced per item. Car hops bring your food to the car and place your tray on the window. They also have an indoor diner bar, or a few picnic tables you can eat at. Bring the family for a throwback lunch or dinner. Stewarts opened in the 1920's and it's a blast from the past. Drive-In's are pretty much a thing of the past-- Sure, Sonic took a crack at modernizing fast food drive-in, but most of those have fizzled out, and lets be honest, the food left much to be desired. Stewart's is one of those places where you can envision occupants of the past, chilling in their massive cars of yesteryear and enjoying some greasy diner eats in the comfort of their own car. I didn't do much research on Stewarts to know what to order, so I went pretty basic-- a Cheeseburger, fries and rootbeer. They were... fine! Nothing mindblowing, but I think you're going more for nostalgia here, and that's ok! Oh yeah, just to mention -- Unless you order your drinks 'To-go' you'll be served in a frosted mug. Food comes out on a metal tray which can fit on your car window, or door. When you're done-- just hit the switch/indicator on the order board, and someone will scoot out and allow you to be on your way. A real old-school drive-in. Tucked away on the north side of Marion, it looks like it hasn't changed in 50 years, and probably hasn't. Pull in, order from the board, and get the tray hanging on your window. We had just eaten, but had to get some root beer. It's the same stuff as in the bottles; unlike A&W, it doesn't taste different on draft. Good root beer all around: sweet but not overly so, good sassafras flavor, a bit of bite. I had a glass and a float. Tip: if you get a float, get some plain on the side so you can refill to your preferences. I got a small float and a quart of root beer; that was too much for the refilling, but hey, I drank the rest! Sweetie got a small root beer, plus some strawberry pie. In-season only, made with fresh berries; she said it was good, not great. There are a few picnic tables in back, and plenty of drive-in spots. Service was great. Prices are very good. My husband grew up in the town of Marion. He couldn't wait to introduce me to the best root beer stand around. Wasn't too impressed when we pulled up. My goodness! Comfort food and burgers and coney dogs are the best ever! The coney sauce is homemade and very tasty! My favorite dish is the loaded tater tots!! This is one of our very favorite places to eat. We are so happy when they re-open every spring. My favorite is their philly cheesesteak sandwich. The steak is nice and tender. Tasty! I also enjoy their footlong coneys and burgers. The curly fries and cheese is a must every visit. The loaded potato skins are also excellent. The chicken tenders are very good. My wife likes the burgers and the sloppy joes. She also loves the corn nuggets. And, of course, they serve great tasting root beer and Pepsi in frosted mugs. Foot long coneys were good. If you want more than just sauce make sure to let them know though. The potato skins were a little salty but they were still good. The other good we got was good as well. What a fun stop on our trip to Cedar Point! The teenagers loved it, too, and had never seen a real root beer stand with car-side service! Note the best part: the staff is amazing and helped us with an awful situation - we had just hit a large bird that we didn't know was stuck in our car's front grill. This took me back to high school! This is a TRUE drive in--you can keep it, Sonic! I asked the voice on the order board if I should have the Garbage Burger or Sloppy Joe--she said Garbage Burger and she was right. Now, I don't eat like this a lot but if you're going to have drive in food, you can't go wrong here!
