I gather they began in Saratoga Springs, NY, and moved into Vermont, as well. We tried this one across the street from the Saratoga Springs Hilton where we stayed, and it was very clean inside (according to my husband who went inside). I had also read they have terrific ice cream, so guess what, we tried some. I stupidly left it up to my husband to "surprise me," and while they are known for amazing flavor choices, and thinking he KNOWS how I like unusual and interesting flavors, he walks out with a mix of vanilla and chocolate. Are you kidding me? It was especially difficult for me to keep my mouth shut because I was pissed off, but he was kind enough to get it for me and bring it out, so I could just wait in the car. I have to say, though, I quickly went from anger at the boring ice cream flavors to extreme enjoyment because it was some of the BEST vanilla and chocolate ice cream I had ever eaten. Truly delicious. I was definitely thinking we'd get some different flavors at other Stewart's Shops in the ensuing days of our travels, but as many as we ended up seeing along our way, we never did stop at any. Don't know why, but we didn't, and so, this was our only time to enjoy their wonderful ice cream !! Next time we are in the area of a Stewart's Shop, I will make sure we can get more ice cream. There is something very satisfying about a small town convenience store's. Watching men young and old hold open the door for ladies, smelling the coffee and ever cooking hot dogs on the roller grill shows small town life for what it is: families, people living together in harmony. Today's feature was freshly made apple fritters. Coupled with a handmade chocolate milk shake, life is good. The store holds basics for life: bread, eggs, milk, soda, beer, soups and other canned goods as well as all sorts of ice cream and frozen treats. There is little that can be needed, from matches to mustard, that the store doesn't have. Outside the gas pumps are humming while customers in transit replenish treats for their trip. I appreciate the presence of this store and highly recommend stopping in whenever one is in Arlington.

This particular location is a few streets away from Broadway in Saratoga, where you will also find yet another Stewart's. This store was clean and well lit. This is the perfect place to stop in when you forget to buy milk or eggs at the grocery store. Stewart's has their own brand of beer too, it's fairly inexpensive and not too bad. A lot of my friends and acquaintances in the area love the ice cream from here, I would give it about 8 out of 10. There are a TON of flavor options!! This is definitely an inexpensive place to pick up a tasty frozen treat for a price that won't break the bank. Good place to take kids and you can use your debit/credit card, some of the mom and pop ice cream stands require you to have cash. You can buy pre-packaged cartons of ice cream or get a cone/sundae. So if you are wandering Saratoga and looking for ice cream, I recommend giving this a try over Cold Stone. You will probably save a few bucks!

I always am leery of saran wrapped cookies that are out on display because its impossible to know if there are actually fresh. The giant stacks of cookies were too enticing to pass up on. The chocolate cookie we purchased was definitely not fresh at all. $3.29 down the tubes - lesson on saran wrapped cookies learned (again). Carrot cake whoopie pie and original whoopie pie - both tasty, but the cake was too thick for my personal liking. We sat in the small outdoor seating area to eat. So, I can only extrapolate that they do not actually care about the customer's opinions. My specific feedback was just to let them know about a change in quality around the peanut butter and butter hardroll which tastes great with a cup of coffee. However, they started getting cheap and lately (about the last 6 months or so), I've noticed the peanut butter is a meager, partial skim of flavoring that can be so minimal that is seems practically non-existent. In the past, there was plenty of product to satisfy the palette. The store staff is great and I regret having to give one-star for such a small issue, but it is more about the lack of response from corporate when I've logged three different comments on their customer service platform. (Food -3 stars, Cleanliness + 4 stars, In-store staff, +5 stars, Corporate -100 stars).
