My tab was ultimately comped because the establishment no longer had my credit card to process the payment after giving it to someone else. I was also given a gift card, but I have no intention of returning after an incident like this, so it has no value to me. While my card was eventually recovered, that doesn't change the fact that it should never have left the building in someone else's possession.
