Major props to these ladies working this food truck! I was debating between Stick It and The Rice Box. I'm glad I chose Stick It and I ended up having their food for lunch twice in a row when they were on UH campus. I recommend getting the entrees instead of the a la carte skewers. For around $2 more you can get brown rice and veggies or french fries. Food & Execution (A++): I got the Korean BBQ Pork Belly ($8) the first day and Beef Tenderloins with Chimichurri sauce ($9) the second day, both with brown rice and veggies. The Korean BBQ Pork Belly was just right, fatty, flavorful, juicy, and meaty. Beef Tenderloins was tender, cooked just right, and had that charred flavor. I liked how they served brown rice instead of regular white rice because this amps up quality. Way to make things healthier! The veggies consisted mostly of grilled zucchini. Both entrees had a drizzle of this white creamy sauce over the rice. I forgot what the Korean BBQ Pork Belly's sauce but the Beef Tederloins had Chimichurri sauce, which I LOVED! It was very refreshing. Both entrees were well balanced. Service (A+): I usually hightail it from school to work. From ordering my food to receiving my food was equal to waiting in a Micky D's drive-thru. It was super fast. Price (A-): Price is a little steep for a college student but quality came with the food. The entree portion for me during lunch was just right. It filled me up to the point that I was satisfied. They also did not charge me a fee for using a credit card. Overall I have no complaints. So glad I tried this when they were at The Digital Run! I got the Korean pork belly, and it was pretty damn amazing. The meat was perfectly fatty, tender, and flavorful. The rice and veggies were good (I poked around the zucchini though because I'm not a fan), and that sauce was addictive! Definitely a fan...I would love to try their other sticks of food! Although this was surprisingly my first food truck to try at all in Houston (other than at fairs and the rodeo). Very impressed. And the guy who took my order was super-nice! read more

Exactly what a great food truck should serve: Delicious Portable Food! Haute Wheels food truck event introduced me to a nice sampling of some of the best rolling establishments in Houston. Tragically, many of these trucks serve foods that not only require a fork or spoon, but just about require you to have a table to eat at. Not quite the easy food that you can eat neatly while standing (or walking to the next bar). Thankfully, I was curious about a bright red truck with the name: Stick It. Known for their food on a stick, four words on the menu caught my eye right away: Korean BBQ Pork Belly. The lovely sales personnel sold it. Marinated for hours in Korean seasonings and then grilled. Sweet, savory, fatty and chewy, I was won over. I have also tried the beef stick with chimmichuri and the fried chicken stick. Both well done in their own way, but they sat in the shadow of that tasty pork belly. I must admit that I became the cheerleader for Stick It at Haute Wheels, telling random strangers about the joys of bacon's younger brother. I have since tried to recreate it at home, and I find that I can't pull it off quite as well as they do. So when you find Stick It, take the time to stop and enjoy a delicious snack that doesn't require a fork or a spoon. Tip: Try the fish and don't forget to take your Statins. read more

I'm with Cee B. on this one. Food. On a STICK. What more could you want? Well, I'd like a bit more. Everyone else is showing 3 sticks for the pork belly, I only got 2 sticks! Maybe because I asked for it to go? There was no bed of lettuce. And the rice tasted like plastic. The pork was OK, can't go wrong with grilled thick slab of bacon. But it just didn't wow me. It was just ... a let down. I admittedly had high expectations ordering. Though of haute stick food was just too enticing for me to NOT be excited. Worth trying again, however. I caught up with one of Houston's newest food trucks at Inversion Coffee House. The Stick It Truck specializes in gourmet fare served in the most convenient of modes. The city is notorious for preventing its mobile eateries from setting up shop anywhere close to fixed seating, so just like at the state fair, you're able to walk and eat at the same time with food on a stick. But these aren't just your average corndogs. When I stopped by, the menu was much diminished as the proprietors prepared to revamp their offerings, but they had what I had come for: the beer battered fish. I had seen via Twitter that the Stick It Truck had posted up at the Karbach Brewery for one of their Saturday tours, and had used their Sympathy for the Lager in the batter. That was a one-off deal at the brewery, but the truck always uses Texas beers for their fish, and on this day, they had used Lone Star. The fish was perfectly light and flaky while the fried exterior was airy and crispy from the beer. These fish sticks lay to rest all the Gorton's nightmares from the Lenten Fridays of your youth. The stick was served on a bed of excellent French fries, establishing itself as one of the best examples of fish and chips in town. All it needed was a dash of malt vinegar, which the Stick It Truck has cleverly taken care of in the form of a malt vinegar aioli served on the side. Recent tweets have shown great creativity, and prove the truck isn't limited by their chosen method of cuisine conveyance. How can they serve gumbo on a stick, you may ask. Well, it's a sort of decons-truck-ted gumbo, with stickable items like chicken and sausage served in a bowl of beans and rice. The husband and i came across this truck on a random hunt for food trucks and saw it at Inversion Coffee house. Soooo glad we stopped! We got the Beer battered fish and chips. The fish was so soft and flavorful. and the fries i swear are fried with garlic. I hardly like fries but this is one of the few places i'll continue eating them on purpose :D I'm fairly certain the tartar sauce is homemade because i actually liked it and ate it all :D For dessert we had the funnel cake battered and fried brie with 4 berry compote sauce. *drools thinking about it* I love brie...i love it even more from this place :D and the berry compote was even good dip for the fries! So yea we will be hunting this place down more too! The other stuff I've seen come across their menu looks wonderful. read more

Since the Museum District has food trucks every day of the week now, I decided to visit one during the week while I was working from home. Stick It happened to be parked outside the MFAH. We went there for lunch and were expecting a good meal. After much deliberation, I ordered the fried chicken meal for $8 or so, I believe. My wife went for the Korean pork belly meal. Frankly, I enjoyed my meal, The fried was tasty and the creamed corn was pretty good. It was served on a bed of fries, which I wasn't expecting. It turned out to be OK. The fries weren't crispy by any means, but rather a little greasy. The pork belly was all fat and very little meat. A huge disappointment. Again, the price was $8 for the meal. I forget what side came with her meal (except I know it also had fries). The side was better than the meal. My wife thought the overall meal was too greasy. I think Stick It has some good food, but the price point is too high! $8 for a small meal is too much; had I had a much larger appetite, I would have left hungry. If the price point dropped by $1-$2 or if we were given one more stick (just got two), then I would have been a happier camper. Also, maybe other food trucks do this, but I hate the idea of them using Square and being presented with a tip screen. I feel bad not giving a tip, but come 'on, there's no seating, no service, and barely any shade...so why am I asked to give a tip by the screen? To the credit of the guy in the truck, he didn't say I had to give a tip, but the pressure from the app was still there. All in all, I may consider going back, but I definitely would prefer to try more food trucks first. read more

Meat on a stick, the primal food that came right after man discovered fire. This stuff is breath popping excellent, the pork belly(Bacon) and beef with some weird green oil sauce was amazing as an accomplice to a nice cold brew. So good it looked like shark week with everyone just tearing the plate apart. I pity all you vegans who will never get to know the joys of carnivorous life. This is one of the most unique and delicious food trucks I've ever eaten at. I've had multiple things here but the chicken fried chicken is to die for. But we also had some sort of beef kabob that was tender and delicious. The food here is really gourmet and a must try. read more

food on stick! pretty good concept when it comes to grilled or finger foods if you don't want your fingers to get dirty. their menu is always changing so that's a plus when you want to try something different. i ordered korean pork belly lettuce wraps with basmati and sesame gastrique. pork belly was grilled perfectly! very juicy ahd thick! however, i was not a big of the accompanied gastrique. i guess i was expecting a rice texture, but it was too dry for my liking. overall, i enjoyed my meal. a taste of korean bbq without having to smell like one when you leave. i also had it togo, and they put everything separately which is good so it wont be soggy when i'm ready to eat it. read more

I had a chicken stick, a steak stick, and the gravy fries. The gravy fries are probably the best thing I had - the way they make it so that every fry has gravy on it is awesome. The steak stick was good. It was juicy and flavorful, only downside is portion sizes as I finished the stick no problem. The chicken stick was ok a bit on the crunchy size and a bit dry. Overall good experience, the entrees they were serving look good as my siblings had the bacon fried rice with pork belly. read more

I tried them during one of Houston's food truck festivals. This place is pretty good. Their battered fish stricks are yummy!

Had the poached shrimp and goat cheese grits (excellent) and the beef tenderloin with couscous salad (also excellent).

The concept is brilliant: a food truck that serves cuisine on a stick! Easy, portable, enjoyable food. And who doesn't like food on a stick? Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the reputation of the truck. All but one item on the menu was fried (other than a side of cole slaw or a cookie), which was disappointing because there are so many things that Stick It could offer on a stick that isn't fried. I ordered the fish and chips, with a malt vinegar aioli. The aioli was inventive and tasted like a combo of malt vinegar and tartar sauce. That is the only positive thing I can say about the food. The fish and fries were so greasy I could only eat about three bites, and when I went home shortly after I got sick. I noticed after I took those few bites that the container they were served in was completely translucent where the food touched. I know, I know: fish and chips is fried and is going to be greasy. Keeping that in mind, these fish and chips were the worst I've ever had in terms of grease, to the point that they were almost inedible. Furthermore, the fish was bland and could have used some sort of salt or seasoning. I don't know if it was just an off night, but I am not sure if I will visit the truck again, which is a shame because I enjoy supporting the local vendors and the food truck community. If I do, I will definitely order the one thing that isn't fried. But, after my experience, it will definitely be some time before I even consider a return visit. Stick It is probably my favorite food truck in Houston. I have tried almost all of their menu items, and I pretty much crave them all. Fried chicken with corn/cheddar/gravy fries??!? How can you go wrong. Their fried fish is probably the best friend fish I have had EVER, and that is saying a lot. My current favorite is the grilled beef tenderloin with grilled veggies and chimichurri aioli over brown rice. Meat and veg are cooked perfectly, not too grilled or overcooked, and the aioli adds an amazing depth of flavor and all over awesomeness. Also the funnel cake battered brie is AMAZING. read more

This is one of my faviorte concepts for a food truck. But I was disappointed. The wait was long considering the short line. My chicken was very unevenly spiced. And the person handeling the cash took it upon herself to fondle my cooked food. I know it's a food truck, but a little attention to sanitation would be nice! read more

I recently went to the Haute Food Truck Festival and tried several of the trucks, which by the way was good....we were fixing to leave and way over to the side I spotted the Stick It truck!!!!I was already pretty full,but I was bound & determined to try their pork belly & rice.OMG!!!!!!It was AWESOME!!!The pork belly tasted so good,and my fav was the side of rice.WOW,what flavors.
