I visited DoDo's Chicken on Wednesday, 6/11 around 4:45 PM, excited to get the chicken and sides…read morethat I usually love. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing for several reasons. First, I noticed that the staff handling food behind the counter were not wearing gloves. Hygiene is important, especially when preparing and serving food, and it was concerning that no one appeared to be following proper food safety practices. At that time, the rotisserie was already being cleaned, which told me they had stopped preparing fresh chicken for the day. Instead, they were serving pre-cooked chicken kept in a warmer. As expected, this made the chicken dry and hard on the outside. I ordered the 1/2 dark meat chicken with yellow rice and Tequeños. However, I was given two small leg quarters and an extra piece of white meat--which I didn't ask for--all of which were extremely dry. The portion size has noticeably decreased as well. I was also very concerned to see them using spray cleaner near the food, which poses a risk of chemical contamination. On top of that, the Tequeños were extremely dark and tasted like they had been refried, nearly burnt. Adding to the poor experience, one of the girls behind the counter was playing around and massaging her coworkers while customers were being served. That level of unprofessional behavior is not something anyone wants to see while waiting for their food. I've always liked this place for its fresh rotisserie chicken, but it feels like DoDo's has started cutting corners on both food quality and cleanliness. Paying $19.52 for this meal just didn't feel worth it.

Terrible service and zero accountability. I placed an online order, but when I arrived, the staff…read morehad decided to close early and refused to fulfill it. Despite having my contact information, they provided no courtesy call or cancellation notice. To make matters worse, the employee was incredibly rude and disrespectful, telling me it "wasn't his problem" and that I had to come back the next day for a refund. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually values its customers.

I love Frenchy's! I used to live in the area but have since moved. When I lived there I didn't know…read moreabout Frenchy's and never realized there was this delicious fried chicken just steps away from my doorstep! I came on a Friday night and there was a long line. When I looked upfront, I realized why. There were only two people working there. But they were holding it down!! They were working hard to get everyone's order. I got the two piece dark. It took a little while, but it was worth it! Even though I ordered two, they gave me three - maybe because they were closing soon. The chicken was so hot and crispy and juicy!! And omg the hot-sauce! It was really good on the chicken. Also it comes with a jalapeño which I drizzled over the chicken. I also had greens and a roll to top it off. Delicious! Can't wait to go back :)

I'm not gonna hold back on this review, this is probably the worst Frenchy's I've ever been to. I…read morebeen inside the restaurant 3-4 times and ordered through DoorDash about 2-3 times. To be honest the service is slow and at times they're rude and don't wanna do their job. One of the only positive things I can say is that even though the service is slow, the food comes out hot & fresh. I would hope so since they're not busy. My to go orders are usually the 3 piece campus with either mash potatoes, red beans and rice, collard greens & dirty rice. Or I'll get their 3 piece catfish. Sometimes I'll get the dessert (peach cobbler & sweet potato pie). While the chicken comes out hot & fresh. There is zero seasoning on the chicken itself. Not even a pinch of salt. They rely on the batter for flavor. Don't get me wrong the batter is salty & delicious for my palate but the chicken is so bland. Collard greens are uninspiring & boring but edible. Mash potatoes taste just fine but their gravy adds a layer of flavor. Red beans and rice once again, flavorless & they always give you one measly piece of sausage. Their dirty rice is a little dry but not bad. Now for the catfish I actually enjoy it. The batter is the same as their chicken & the fish itself is moist and juicy. The desserts feel like it's store bought and not made in house but it's bearable. Overall, this location ain't it. It's located next to a gas station & the area itself isn't safe. The inside of the restaurant isn't clean either. Lazy & rude employees don't make it any better. If you want some good Frenchy's go to the one on 3rd ward. I would frequently go there but that's no where close to my house so I have to settle for this location. I hope they make improvements before they shut down.

I'm gonna agree with the testament that the service here is not that great…read more I had bb.q chicken before ( my friend brought it to a hangout and I LOVED it), however this time eating out at the restaurant might change my mind about coming here. Service was kinda weird, they just kinda sit around until someone walks in and out waters remained empty for a while (even tho they have a sign to not get our own drinks at the drink station). Also, it was so hot in here, even when the places started to fill up, the restaurant was still hot, people were fanning themselves the whole time. Good idea would've been to close the window blinds and probably offer your guest some ICE cold water. Instead, waters had minimal ice and the ice melted within seconds of coming to our table. The food was good, just not amazing for the service to be like that. I would much rather take to go and not deal with servers or the heat. We got the honey garlic and galbi wings. Honey garlic was super good and crunchy, I think I'll pass on the galbi. Something was off about the taste. Calamari and fries were good. Overall, I'll be ordering for take out next time.

I have been to two of these outlets in Northern Virginia and have enjoyed the food and service in…read moreboth. bb.q chicken has been the exception to my extreme dislike of chains. Not so in Houston. First impression: the outside looked very dirty and uninviting. I actually wondered whether it had already gone out of business. One door didn't work but upon opening the other door we were greeted not with a pleasant Korean fried chicken aroma, but with the overwhelming smell of heavy chemical disinfectant. Now everyone likes a clean restaurant but this was like a noxious cloud of chemical gas. (And the worse part is the restaurant wasn't even that clean. The bathroom had paper thrown all around it and the screen on the window obviously hadn't been cleaned in years - I almost accidentally leaned into it before seeing how grease-stained and dirty it was.). The "waiter" was almost a zombie. He had his earbuds in his ears so perhaps he was listening to his music while waiting tables? But he mumbled some kind of greeting that none of us could decipher. Several things we wanted to order were "not available." One had been off the menu for a long time but they just keep it on the menu card, we were informed by mumbling earbuds. Waiter honestly seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else than at work. Maybe this is not the job for you, earbud guy? We pressed on and placed our order. The fourteen dollar (!!!) bulgogi rice plate was a tiny, cheap, thin plastic bowl three-fourths full of rice with a couple of pieces of meat on top. It looked old. Sad. And it came out long before the rest of the plates! People go out to dinner or lunch to eat together. If you give one person in the party his meal long before the others you kill the fun of eating together. Then they came with the "sides." Korean corn, coleslaw, pickled daikon. The Korean corn (four bucks) was awful. Tasted like chemicals and was watery and just gross. Tiny styrofoam cup. The Korean corn at the Falls Church VA outlet was outstanding. This was inedible. Coleslaw (four bucks!!!) was in a tiny styrofoam cup with some cabbage and water and maybe a pinch of mayo. Gross gross. Pickled daikon was also gross. And such small portions... Finally the other three plates came out. After a long wait. I had my favorite, which is the second hottest thing on the menu. Nowhere as spicy as it was in Clarendon, VA (very little sauce on it) and the eight piece wings (FOR SIXTEEN DOLLARS AND NINETY-NINE CENTS!!!!) was five flats and three drums. All of them could literally have come off a pigeon. That's how small they were. They were almost microscopic. Another in our party had galbi style boneless and it honestly was twice the amount of meat that I got. Same price. Downside: she said there was a really weird taste to the food. Kind of tasted and smelled like an old sponge. Kind of moldy or mildew tasting. What's going on in that kitchen?? Where are you storing the sauces? You can see in the photo the comparison in portions for the same price. I would actively attempt to dissuade anyone from eating at this sad, disinfectant-smelling, empty restaurant with nearly no service and even less happiness. Worst part of it all: Lunch for four with an appropriately modest tip was...NINETY DOLLARS! One beer, three waters.

We ordered the Habibi Feast, which is perfect for sharing and gives you a little bit of everything. It came with brisket, turkey, chicken, and sausage--and every protein was cooked to perfection. The brisket was tender with a beautiful smoke ring, the turkey was juicy, and the chicken had a great flavorful crust. For sides, we went with mac and cheese, creamed corn, potato salad, and fried okra. Honestly, all of them hit--especially the creamy mac and cheese and the fried okra, which had a perfect crunch. We also tried the brisket shawarma, and that was a standout. It's a really cool fusion of Texas BBQ and Mediterranean flavors--smoky, saucy, and packed with flavor in every bite. Overall, this spot brings a unique twist to traditional BBQ with its Mediterranean influence. Great food, great service, and a solid atmosphere--definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Highly recommend if you're in Houston and want something different from your usual BBQ spot.
