Kazumi has been my favorite manager for years--our encounters are always joyful--and today I also met Tamaki, who had a wonderful, welcoming presence. Normally my visits are a 9-10/10, but this time fell short due to Kaoru's behavior. After I politely declined a tray in the crystal section, she sucked her teeth and muttered something under her breath. Later at checkout, Kaoru -- a woman with a bob haircut) -- ignored my question until I repeated it, tossed my receipt at me, didn't bag my items, and walked away when I asked her name, telling me "it wasn't necessary". I also couldn't help but notice I was the only one who looked like me in the store at the time, which made the interaction feel targeted. This was especially disappointing because every other transaction I've had here has been handled with care. As a loyal, long-time customer, I hope Kaoru's attitude improves, because the warmth and professionalism I've consistently received from Kazumi and Tamaki are what make Toho Shoji such a special place.

The founder and designer, Felix Z himself was here to chat with and he's wonderful, he said we could try on anything we want. All the items in the store are sterling silver, some are gold coated others aren't. Some are semiprecious stones. It's a beautifully set up store with stunningly lovely pieces. Some pieces are classic others are edgy. There was an angular pair of hoop earrings that I liked, but I would have preferred them in silver. There is also an online store that sells these items, with a larger inventory. The most impressive part is the cost. Everything is so appropriately priced. The items with the stones of course cost more. This is a great store if you're looking for a gift for a friend or for yourself. You're supporting a small business and jewelry pieces that are handcrafted and so beautiful! What's better than that?

So as I walked along Third Avenue in Manhattan, I was drawn in to Felix Designs. Irresistible! From tiny tourmaline earrings to a flat-out gorgeous sapphire necklace, each piece is handcrafted. I like knowing that. The odds of my walking out with nothing to show? Zero! Prices are affordable--it's not a Madison Avenue store museum (where bags begin at $5K). Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I am wearing the little Amazonite earrings ((with a tiny diamond to make them sparkle more). So glad I walked in!

I made an appointment and paid the $100 reservation fee online. I was reminded several times of my appointment. There is a website and Ms. Smith has an Instagram account with many photos of her work. There are many 5-star reviews here on Yelp. I live in New Mexico, where piercings are done in tattoo parlors by rough-looking men. That wasn't the experience I wanted. Ms. Smith is thoroughly professional and competent. She spent time with me concerning my previous earlobe piercings, which had closed up over time. She went over the earrings choices with details about stones and white vs. yellow gold. I never felt rushed. I ended up purchasing two sets of lightning bolt earrings with tiny stones, one pair in each gold color. She was meticulous in positioning and marking my lobes. The actual piercing of both ears was quick and almost painless. I was given an instruction card detailing home care of the new piercings. Clinical Ear Piercing by Rachel Smith offers a very professional and comfortable client experience. I highly recommend this business.

She walked out skipping and smiling and so excited to show everyone her pretty new earrings. Highly recommend!

I had to share my experience because I truly wish I had come here from the very beginning…read more Jangmi was actually the first place I went to when I started ring shopping. I wanted to see a variety of designs, shapes, and settings--and they had so many beautiful options to try on. The experience was warm, helpful, and not overwhelming at all. However, I ended up going with another jeweler a few stores down because my boyfriend had a connection there. The moment I received my ring, I immediately regretted not choosing Jangmi. The ring I got was nothing close to what I had asked for. The prongs were bent, and I had specifically requested a higher setting so that a wedding band could sit flush--but none of my bands (even very thin ones) sat properly. I brought it back and asked for multiple fixes. To his credit, he did make adjustments for free, but when I received the ring the second time, it still didn't match my vision at all. What I wanted was simple and classic: a 6-prong setting with tall, straight prongs (similar to the Tiffany style) and small claw tips. Instead, the ring was still not high enough, and the prongs were extremely thick--both from the top and side view--which completely took away from the beauty of the diamond. At that point, I was honestly so frustrated and ready to give up. But I remembered how positive my initial experience at Jangmi was, so I decided to reach out and ask if they could reset my ring. Even though the previous jeweler was willing to keep making changes for free, I didn't feel comfortable going back. I would much rather pay for something done right. And I am SO glad I did. Jangmi had the exact design I had been envisioning all along. Mrs. Kim was incredibly patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. She had a wax model made for me to try on before finalizing the ring, which made such a huge difference. Seeing and wearing the design in person gave me so much confidence--honestly, I preferred this so much more than just looking at CAD images, which can be hard to interpret if you're not in the industry. Within just two weeks, my ring was exactly what I had dreamed of from the start. The craftsmanship, the proportions, the setting--everything was perfect. My biggest regret is not coming to Jangmi Jewelry from the beginning. But one thing I can promise is that I will absolutely be coming back here for my wedding bands. If you're even thinking about going here--just do it. You won't regret it!
