I have been going to Marisa for cut and highlights for over 11 years, and since I moved a few years ago I continue to see her. YES SHE IS THAT GOOD (and I don't have oodles of $). The salon is sophisticated and welcoming, carries great products and the front desk employees always greet you with genuine smiles. No snootiness here. Gourmet coffee, snacks and a plethora of magazines make me want to stay past my appointment! I have read the negative reviews and do not share the same opinion. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at Stilisti or with anyone who works there. I was a client of Marisa's when she worked at previous salons and she has always been amazing. Her cut and color are consistently incredible, I receive compliments from total strangers and women I know, and don't know, will ask who does my hair. I am not exaggerating when I say this. I used to be one of these people who was so fickle about my hair, I never wanted more than an inch cut off (I have long blonde hair). I have to say that when I sit down in Marisa's chair I trust her completely and take her advice. She always makes my hair look amazing, and I leave feeling amazing! Marisa is truly talented. She can assess what is best for my lifestyle (working mom) and HER CUT LASTS, so 6 weeks later it STILL looks like I just had it done. I do not have enough good things to say about Marisa. Not only does she give the most amazing service, but she is someone with whom you'd instantly want to call a friend. She is beautiful, sweet, thoughtful, smart, funny - I truly enjoy our conversations. In fact, I think her humbleness is what makes you love her even more. I'd like to start with: A-MAZ-ING. I just moved to Boston a few months ago and am missing the comforts of home (i.e. my local knowledge of where to go and who to see for all things hair). Since moving here, I have had a heck of a time trying to find a stylist to get my hair right and who at least makes me feel like I can trust that they know what they're doing. Well, today my luck changed! I found Alexandra who made me feel right at home. I've worked in a salon before and have also seen countless stylists none of whom were as friendly and talented as Alexandra by a long shot. She showed a very genuine interest in helping me feel my best while keeping my hair healthy. She knew what she was talking about making me very excited to see the results and exceeded the expectations she set. The whole atmosphere at Stylisit was amazing, like other yelpers have said its not pretentious at all but definitely upscale. Not to mention everyone (I mean everyone) that worked there had a huge smile on their face and would bend over backwards to make the clients have an enjoyable experience. Their smiles were infectious and I left the salon grinning from ear to ear, like I was Boston royalty. To have such happy employees means Stilisti is doing something right! Oh and and an added bonus - Alexandra should add hair therapist to her resume. When I appeared a bit timid her response: "Its okay, you've been through a lot." This place is the best!! I was in desperate need of a highlight and after trying several places around boston (both on newbury and off) that bordered on dreadful, i was sooo relieved to find Stilisti! This place is a true oasis, and makes me actually wanna go sit in a chair for four hours! The receptionists were fabulous so warm and welcoming! The salon is very chic inside. But even more important to me was how i was treated, i hate being looked down upon because i am a college student and i definitely didnt feel that way here. Hair is such a crucial focal point and i hate hate hate when my precious hair is in the hands of uneducated dopes who act like they know what they are doing and butcher my hair. Sally Howard was wonderful! Shes very well educated, knows what shes doing and can actually do it! I showed her a couple pictures and she got exactly what I wanted. Normally i need to get my roots done every 4 weeks, with Sallys blonde i didnt have to get them redone for 2 months!!! All in all the money is sooo worth it everyone at the salon is wonderful and even better its a pleasant experience! I truly felt relaxed and rejuvenated after my app! Also, on a whim i got my eyebrows done because they were in need and the girl did a surprisingly superb job so shout out to her! unfortunately i cant remember her name, but she was real great i definitely urge everyone to give Stilisti a try, u wont be sorry!! read more

I went to get color a correction. I had some red remaining from a brown dye attempt on my original natural blonde hair. I wanted to just remove the red tinge. I had Kristin as stylist and she did highlights to cover up the red. It took more than 4.5 hours and the bill ended up being around $400. I was not given an estimate like this and for the amount of work done this was frankly not reasonable. This would all have been fine if the work had been completed but it wasn't. When I came back home and looked at my hair I was disappointed as there was still redness. Kristin had told me I had to come in for another session. It was I guess past 5pm and they wanted to close so she didn't want to finish it. I went to Liquid in Boston to get this finished and was charged less than $150. When I told them what had happened the stylist asked why this was not finished originally. In any case my experience was not good due to the fact the stylist worked very slow and ended up not even finishing the job. Then to top it all off the overinflated bill was a tad too much (there was no estimate given so we thought it would be reasonable). Anyway, I am not going back. There are better options like Liquid. read more

I arrived at the salon with a mess, super light ends, highlights on top of highlights, a bad one length heavy haircut. Then I met Kristin! I had read about the salon on Yelp and called the day before to get a highlight and cut treatment. They slotted me in the next morning, and everyone from start to end was really friendly, and despite the location, it had none of the "snotty-ness" I have experienced in so many other salons. Krisitn listened to what I had to say, about retuning closer to my natural color and my concerns with the cut. She jumped into action and performed magic! My old highlights were removed, new wispier ones added, and the color is amazing. I am blown away with how good it looks. I would definitely recommend Krisitn. The cut is great too, she really lightened up my hair with layers and gave my fringe a much softer look. I found Krisitn really nice, she was chatty, but I didn't feel under pressure to talk, neither did she need to hear my whole life story which was refreshing. I have been to my fair share of hair stylists throughout Boston and the surrounding areas (for a cut and highlights/balayage). No one compares to Ali Reynhart at Stilisti Salon (@hair.air on Instagram, check out her amazing work)! She is without a doubt the best!!! Not only is her color amazing, but she goes above and beyond to make you feel beautiful. I love that she loves to learn and is always trying to better herself for her clients (although she already does a fabulous job). I learned of Ali by admiring her work on someone's hair and asking where they got it done. I have been going to her ever since!! She first made my hair super blonde (naturally a light brunette). Most recently, she helped me transform my hair back to a darker blonde / light brown, and I loved the work she has done on my hair with both colors! I love how you can talk through your vision with Ali, and she will help you figure out what will look best on you! Overall, the salon is amazing too. If you're searching for a colorist - look no further - Stilisti is the place for you. When I first entered Stilisti my hair was a dry, uneven, and over processed. I had booked an appointment online to see Ali Reynhart and walked into the salon emotionally prepared to lose most of the length (due to damage) and to have to dye my hair a dark shade of brown to fix the uneven tone. When Ali sat me in her chair for a consult, she assured me that she would keep as much of the length as possible and would use a paneling technique to tone my hair to a more natural/cool shade to even out the brassy tones while keeping some of the highlights. The results I received from this first visit were better than I ever imagined - I left the salon that day with dimensional, cool, healthy, moisturized, LONG hair! Hair that made me feel pretty... hair I loved. Ali Reynhart not only transformed my hair but also gave me back my confidence. I decided to try a new salon b/c the stylist at my usual one left. I clicked around and settled on Stilisti because a friend once mentioned it, location was convenient, I could make an online appointment, and most importantly, there were excellent Covid precautions in place. I felt safe when I walked in--there was only the receptionist (behind plexi), and one other stylist and customer who were at the other end of the long space. I saw stylist Ali Reynhart because she was available early morning the day I needed. She is extremely professional and skilled. She took the time to listen and communicated very clearly what her plan was for my hair. I am not super picky (hair grows back!) but my hair isn't easy -- it's very thick and has a stubborn wave. Ali gave me a superb cut. She used a variety of products from different brands, offered explanations when I asked, and didn't give me a hard sell. I highly recommend both the salon and Ali Reynhart. After losing my stylist/colorist of 15 years (and searching for over 3 years) I found Stilisti--a hidden gem on Newbury Street. I have straight hair and massive amounts of colors from various past salons. The receptionist, Bailey was extremely friendly and helpful pairing me with a senior stylist. At my first appointment, I instantly connected with Jess. She is extremely passionate about her talents, very personable and professional. Jess took the time to have a consultation with me as I was about to embark on a major color and cut transformation. Jess knew my goals were aggressive and I wanted instant results. However, she explained how I would get to my goal without compromising the health of my hair, I just needed to trust and have patience. I went off of Yelp Reviews for a new colorist to help me get back to brunette from blonde....big task. I had a great experience my first visit. Yes I dropped a lot of money my first visit but it was worth it and I am definitely returning. I asked for someone who was good with, thick hair...bobs and color...like dramatic color changes and they booked me with Sally. She was amazing. I paid like 300, but got gloss treatment, deep hair conditioning treatment, low lights, hair cut -- and she was perfectionist...we checked out my color after first round of low lights and she went over it again. Plus the shampoo and condtioner she recommended to me are awesome. I am an avid moroccan oil everything user, but i am changing to her suggestion for the conditioner/shampoo (Colorglow). I love it. Has pigments in it to help ur color stay longer and its sulf. free for those who get Keratin treatments. The conditioner is amazing, keeps my hair so soft. read more

I moved from New York City and had been unhappy with my hair since coming to Boston. I came to Ali in December of 2018 through a recommendation and had the most incredible first experience. She talked me through everything I wanted -- well, I didn't know how to say what I wanted! She asked questions and described different things in incredible detail to make sure she would deliver exactly what I wanted. My hair was was all I wanted and didn't know I wanted! I'm now an Ali Reynhart fan girl. Ali is a perfectionist and attentive to every detail in her work. I come religiously and I trust her to do whatever my hair needs. I've been going to her for my traditional relaxers for over two years now and she is the best stylist I have ever had to do my relaxer. I remember my very first visit with her in which she asked me so many important questions about may hair, how I take care of it and how I like to wear it. She is very knowledgeable and she always provides the best hair care advice and recommends the best quality products for maintaining healthy relaxed hair. She is so thorough and has really nursed my hair so that it is the strongest and healthiest it has ever been! To top it off she is such a sweet lady! I have to say that I hit the jackpot by finding Megan Kelly. I have tried for years to find someone that I truly feel at ease with and trust with my hair. I had a bad experience a few years back that cause my hair to break off and every since then I would get major anxiety everytime I had to get my hair colored. As of my second visit with her last week I can now say I no longer feel uneasy with her! She does everything so natural and I love it. I don't have to feel rushed when I am there because she always books extra time just for that reason. She evefn gave me tips for websites to look up some work outs I wanted to know about and told me about spray tan and gave me the number of a good make-up artist. She is like a one stop shop but I mean that in a good way! New to Boston hair salons and after doing some searching came across Stilisti. Made an appointment for an Ombre' hairstyle and saw Ashley. She was awesome, absolutely no complaints. She listened to everything I wanted and then made some suggestions of her own that I took and I was so happy I listened to her. She does Ombre' perfectly, the best I could have asked for, she is very professional and very talented. The color fade is super natural and very pretty. I have dark blonde hair, medium length, and I love it!! The appointment wasn't rushed at all which I was very happy about (as some salon's I've been to had a short time limit) , Ashley took her time and really put her skills to work. Pam has been cutting my hair for over 20 years. I started going to her because we were friends. I continue going to her because she keeps my hair looking great. I have followed her to three different salons. She is a hairdresser who actually listens to my concerns and ideas. Her hair cuts are amazing and even as my hair grows out, it still looks amazing and freshly cut. I have even gotten compliments about my hair cut and color the day BEFORE my appointment. Pam is talented, fun, and most importantly honest! My color has never looked better. She keeps my blond highlights looking natural (never brassy) even during the long, cold winter months. Pam is the best there is! She has been doing my hair for nearly 10 years. Her coloring is perfect, her cuts are stylish, easy to care for and look great! She listens to what you say, remembers little things about you, is super funny and always honest. Better yet, she's kept my look updated and keeps me from getting into ruts. I highly recommend her to anyone. She colored and styled my neighbor's blonde hair, she said they were the best blonde highlights and cut she has ever had! Today was my forth time at Stilisti and I love it more and more everytime I go there. It has such a nice environment and the stylists are great! I have had my hair done by Brittany and she does such an amazing job! I should say that I have long hair and eveyrwhere else I have gone I have been so disappointed with the style and it take them forever but Brittnay is fast and efficent and she listens to what you want and does exactly what you have in mind! I tool my husband for a haircut there and he loved it too ! You should definately try it out! The best thing is the costumer service...they are super kind and attentive and professional!
