I attended a Gong Immersion event at Avani Studios at Sky Fitness…read more A gong immersion, or gong bath, does not involve water but instead being immersed in the sound vibrations of a gong, believed to be healing to the body by entering a relaxing or meditative state. I knew what to expect because I had attended a gong bath many years ago. That experience had me falling asleep, experiencing synaesthesia, seeing explosions of light, color and sound, as well as feeling very peaceful and relaxed. This immersion was held in the yoga studio and was at capacity. You set down a mat, and other blankets, with feet in the direction of the gong. (This event had five sound healers and gongs). We started with some stretches and yoga. Then you lie down, palms up, legs uncrossed and listen. It's hard to describe the sound. It's deep, almost like a rumble, kinda like the cymbals, but more than just hearing, I also felt it in my pulse. With five gongs it's almost like a symphony with sounds and vibrations building on top of each other but you don't just hear it coming from the direction of your feet, it seems to be coming from every direction, immersing you in vibration. At this point I went in and out of sleep and certain sounds made my limbs twitch. One certain sound seemed to jolt me awake and I saw yellow or green pops of color (my eyes were closed). After that, I started to get restless and could not stay still and needed to stretch. I think at that point I had enough and it was maybe 10 minutes more (the total gong portion was 75 min?). I felt very tired (perhaps extremely relaxed?) and calm, my eyes were tearing (???), and we then had a short deep breathing and meditation. The gong practitioners were lovely, beautiful souls who promoted peace and healing. I felt at peace and in a more refreshed state of mind than when I started. I would attend another of these events but next time I would bring more blankets.

Vanya was my primary therapist, and her care was both thoughtful and consistent. She always explained what she was doing and reassessed my progress along the way, which made me feel confident in my treatment. Emily and Joe were also a big part of my experience. I started seeing him when he wasn't in my insurance network (also not one to like overpaying), because I was in such severe pain from a gym injury, and the endless sessions I have with another chiropractor were not getting me any relief. I'm a strong believer that energy transcends through touch , and he is a natural healer. Yes he is a doctor, he knows the human anatomy , he has the latest techniques , he has a lovely office .... but what's much harder to find in a healthcare provider is a genuine desire to maKe people feel better. He is so attentive. He will try 85 ways to make you feel better , and if it doesn't work he will try the 86th with no loss of enthusiasm. His true greatness is in his humble demeanor. Some chiropractors will act like it's beneath them to massage their patients , but Sunil's ego comes second to doing whatever will help the patient. This is more a review of the billing department than the service provided at the location, but I…read morefeel strongly that the billing department needs to seriously re-evaluate its approach to customer service. After my daughter was treated there, they sent a bill to a wrong address (my ex wife's instead of mine), and then when it wasn't paid immediately contacted a collection agency. I paid the bill in full as soon as the collection showed up on my credit report, and asked them to contact the collection agency to remove the collection from my credit report because they never sent me a bill. The billing department (which I now understand is outsourced) wouldn't return my calls, then told me it "wasn't their problem" and even yelled at me. I explained this situation to the collection agency and they agreed to have it deleted from my credit report. So why IBJI wouldn't do this for me is beyond my comprehension. Once again, there was no dispute over billing, and I paid the bill as soon as I knew it existed, but they refused to help me, were unresponsive and even just plain rude. Hopefully someone at IBJI will read this and make sure that their billing department learns some basic customer service before they lose more clients.
