I have been coming here for a few months as I live nearby and wanted a shop close to home. The shop is right on Hennepin on the northern edge of Uptown. I get my hair cut by Si, who is one of the shop owners. He does a great job. I am in and out of there in ~25 minutes, but he does a great job and is a good technician with the clippers and does an excellent fade. I do not feel like he is rushing or in a hurry, just a very good barber. My wife is always happy with the results, so what more could I ask for? They do walk-ins, but I recommend reserving an appointment. read more

More often than not, Sunday isn't the best time to "walk in" and get a haircut. As a hairdresser myself, 90% of the time I receive services at my salon. I wish that I knew the name of my Barber, he did not appear to be listed on the website, my apologies. He was the Assistant Manager I believe. I am not a regular at a Barber shop. I took a chance walking into Stilo because a friend of mine frequents this business often. He always looks great. I was greeted casually like I would expect in a neighborhood barber shop. They have helpful technology that allows you to sign in on your own and be notified via text when your service time is ready to begin. There is no offer of beverages or places to hang your coat so for those of you who are looking for the hybrid "Mens salon" experience, look elsewhere. This is truly the place where you walk in and hear someone say " You need a haircut?!" My Barber clearly knew exactly what he was doing. While he was a man of a few words I appreciated his focus and ability to know what I wanted and deliver. When I asked him to take it a bit shorter on the sides it wasn't a problem at all. He did a beautiful job on my beard and the lines around my face and neckline. My tapered neckline is very important to me. There is nothing more unsightly than a squared off blunt neckline if you ask me. While I may not regularly frequent this business as I work as a stylist in a salon, I am thrilled to know there is an option down the road for the last minute Sunday haircut that we all need sometimes. Pros: Walk in ready ( at least for me it was) -Technically well trained staff - Excellent beard trimming and shaping. I'll go back just for that! Was in town for a wedding a few weeks ago and totally spaced on getting a fade before I left. Luckily, Stilo was open and I was able to book a cut online. It's been a while since I've seen a barbershop with ~9 chairs completely full with clients coming in and out like clockwork. I showed up 5min early for my appt and told one of the guys I had an appointment and had selected "No preference" for my barber since I'd never been here before. He had me sit in one of the waiting chairs while they figured out who would give me a cut. My barber walked in and sat me down in his chair. He introduced himself as Georgie (sp?) and was super professional during the whole cut. I told him exactly what I wanted and he listened intently, asked a few clarifying questions, and started cutting. He was quick and efficient and I appreciated that he got my hair fully wet before starting shear-work. My barber at home doesn't even do that...(will have to ask him to start!). I feel like you get a better cut on top that way, in my opinion. I went here because the Dave Ryan in the morning show rated this as the best place in Minnesota. I book an appointment online, get there, just to get told they made a mistake and even though the barbers schedule appeared to go out to when I scheduled, they had to cancel because it was a system error. They couldn't get me in in time for the event I needed to be at. The next day I try again. I show up on time, and instead of getting into my appointment, I ended up having to wait close to 30 minutes in a building that smelled heavy of chemicals as they let walk-ins ahead of me who hadn't scheduled ahead of time. Had I not said anything, they were going to continue to let the walk-ins go ahead of me. They seemed super unorganized and either never check the appointment calendar much or just don't care about who does vs who doesn't have an appointment. The person who finally did my hair took over an hour to get it done and it didn't look great. I asked for an I ch or two off the top, and he didn't even touch it. The sides were ok at best. He offered a shave, and before I was able to see how bad the haircut turned out I agreed. The shave was wildly unsatisfactory. When I looked in the mirror there was very clearly still literal patches of hair on my face of varying lengths that he clearly missed in the shave. I will not be going here again. Not to mention this place is horribly overpriced. Upwards of $50 for a shave alone let alone the near $70 haircut. read more

I've been looking for a barbershop for a while, and I've finally found it. I have had 3 haircuts here, by 3 different barbers, and all 3 cuts have been great. I'm a MasterCuts kinda guy: I've never spent more than $20 on a haircut. But these guys know what they're doing, and I'll be coming back. My only complaint would be scheduling: I have found that even with a reservation I still sometimes have to wait quite a while to get my cut, but it's always been worth it. These guys rock. read more

Went to get my haircut by Dondo and he did a fantastic job! Went for something new including a design which I've never had before. He said he could do it and boy was he amazing! Highly recommend y'all, he knows what he's doing! He's also super friendly, laid back and easy going as well which only adds to the experience! I will definitely be coming back. I can't speak to the quality of the barbers (never made it that far), but what I can say is that if you value your time, go somewhere else. 1st attempt: 9am last Thursday: went there, no one there for 10min, I left; 2nd attempt: called to schedule an appointment and was told to come in the next day at 9am and David would see me. Got there and David was not working. Guy who was there was booked for the first hour and a half...anyway, won't bore you with anymore details, but 2 more attempts without being able to find a time without waiting. I understand there's a community aspect to a barbershop, but I do not have (or want to spend) 30+ min waiting around to maybe get a cut. Looks like a cool place, the barbers might even be good, but the business is not user friendly. read more

My husband and I were passing by and noticed the barbershop and stopped in. The Barbershop is very clean and the barbers are friendly. It was fun to watch the barbers as they are highly skilled and great at their craft. If you like designs and want a unique hair cut this is the place to go. There designs are fun and creative.
