I took my Audi in and they put the wrong type of oil in it. They claimed that their "system" tells them to use this type of oil but when speaking to the Audi dealership to confirm what I already knew, Audi stated that this type of oil should only be used in case of emergency (non 5w40) because Audi engines are sensitive. Ever since getting my oil changed at Stingray Auto with the wrong oil, my car now burns several quarts of oil between changes. There's no leak, no easy fix. This is costing me an extra $50 minimum each oil change now. Stay the hell away if you have an expensive car. They'll pass the Buck as to why they screwed up onto their "system" and have zero accountability! read more

Had a terrible experience. Some things were out of their control but they were also rude and combative with me along the way. And they never call you to tell you anything, you have to pester them to get an update. My work truck ended up in their shop for almost two months, including when they let me drive off with a faulty starter and had to get towed back again. I'd stay as far away as possible. read more

Four months ago back in December 2018, I had submitted a negative review of my experience of being charged $605 ($249 at Toyota) for a wiper motor that ended up totaling $961.63 after labor and tax. Recently, Jason, the owner of Stingray reached out to me after having reviewed my post and looked into why the supplier had marked up the price compared to Toyota. Today, Jason refunded me the difference for the part cost plus tax. Apparently the manager that did not handle my complaint very well at that time is no longer at Stingray. This place is a little bit of a drive to get to, but being greeted with a warm smile by staff who are both friendly and professional makes getting a routine oil change actually kind of enjoyable. I've bought a few groupons for oil changes and air conditioner services now at a very reasonable price and have always been very pleased. I also appreciate the fact that they don't limit the amount of groupons you use, nor try to sell you services or things you don't really need. I've also found them to be very upfront / honest about what needs to be done if something should arise. I've also visited the Seattle location when I used to work out that way and had similar positive experiences with them as well, though that location is a lot harder to get a timely appointment at at times. I am trying to console my lady as I'm typing this. We explained to the owner how we had purchased this BMW through a 3rd party company that brings buyers and sellers together so this doesn't happen (problem vehicle). After laughing and saying "I'm a licensed dealer. You don't have a leg to stand on." We had lost power to the vehicle in front of Stingray and even after the comment, to save a tow charge, we asked for a diagnoses. He said it's the alternator and he would order one. After 2 days we called to get a progress report and he said the first one was faulty and this one will be done end of day. It's been over 3 weeks and it still doing the same thing which he won't honor. After another one of his "well if you had had a heart attack" and then something about my mom with dementia that i take care of... wise comments I had to hang up. I'm truly offended. Stingray has been my go to shop for the past 3 years. I found them through their great Groupon oil change deal and then kept going because of how honest and non-pushy they were. My main experience has been at the Seattle location, but since moving I figured I'd check out their Redmond location. I've seen the owner at both and he remembered me when I called in even though it had been nearly a year. My minivan had had several dash lights on for quite a while, and I basically took it to Stingray and said, "What does it need?" I admit I'm kinda testing mechanics a bit when I do that because I had a sense of what it probably needed, but I wanted to see if they would recommend anything unnecessary on top of that. Truth is I'd already researched two of things needed and realized they were beyond my skill level. Stingray said they would assess the minivan at no charge. Afterward, the recommendation was: replace valve cover gasket and spark plugs, transmission fluid, air filter, and fuel injection service. I immediately mentioned I could change the air filter myself, at which they hastened to assure me they wouldn't charge me labor, only parts. Well cool! When fuel injection service was recommended, they made sure to mention that it was being recommended primarily just due to the age and mileage of the vehicle for maintenance. I understood that as optional, and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that little side note. They weren't trying to sell me on it, just recommending it as part of due diligence. I asked a few questions and decided to go along with all of it. The minivan ran like a dream afterwards, but smelled of gas. I thought it would dissipate, but after a few days it got worse and we had to get it towed back in, as the fire department recommended against driving it for safety reasons. Stingray identified the issue as one of the o-rings on the fuel injectors, and replaced all 6 of them at no cost. Smell is gone now! And while it would be nice to live in a perfect world where that never happened, what matters to me is that Stingray resolved it right away. I really appreciate the fact that Stingray employees do not work on commission, and as such I've never felt pressured into any work done. In fact, I've always received genuinely helpful advice while deliberating on major repairs. It's a major reason why I kept coming back. Finally, I have always been treated with respect at Stingray, despite the painfully obvious fact that I was homeless the first couple years I brought my van in. It's hard to hide a bed and fridge in the back. Sometimes my van was really messy or dirty. Often it had all my possessions in it. Stingray treated me with the same respect they treated their high end customers. And I think that alone tells you everything you need to know about them. read more

I cannot recommend Stingray Auto Repair enough whether you're looking for an oil change or a full engine replacement, the guys know their stuff and will offer you the best deal in town. We started coming here for basic oil changes which were always completed well and in a timely manner and were honestly the cheapest I've ever seen. Recently we saw them for a more serious problem and I appreciated their honest communication about the problem, as well as their well-thought out suggestions and value for the services. We have been taking our vehicles to Stingray for a few years now and I have had nothing except excellent, professional service. We started going there when we purchased a groupon for a set of 3 oil changes. When you redeem the Groupon they give you a punch card with 3 spots for punches and they tell you "if you lose the card, we won't be able to honor any more oil changes." So, the card goes in my glove box and I have never had a problem. I have bought three groupons for Stingray and will continue to do so. Additionally, when my Ford hybrid needed brakes, they were able to perform the service and it cost half of what the dealership quoted me. The dealership even told me that 3rd party repair shops couldn't work on the hybrids because of the special tools required and that turned out to just be a lie. Let's talk about headlights on new cars for a second. They are ridiculous and expensive. Do you think you can just buy new bulbs for your burned out light in your 2015 Fusion? Nope. Whole front end has to come off to change it. Ford says it's a 2 hour job at $150 an hour. Stingray did it for $100 and they fixed a piece of fiberglass molding that had broken slightly and was sticking out without charging me anything. In all honesty, I don't write reviews much. Good or bad. But after my experience today (they checked a diagnostic code for me AND changed my oil because they had an open spot) I decided to come home and write this. I've had a ton of horrible experiences with auto shops. I think it's more the rule than the exception. But these guys have earned my trust, are nice, and reasonably priced and in an internet full of trolls and fake reviews, I felt like I should say something. This is very dissappointing to write. I have been bringing my car to StingRay for over a year and I truely trusted them. My car broke down and needed about $5000 in repairs. The car was old and I had decided to sell it to a junk yard. I let StingRay know I was setting up a pick up with Carport. I told Dawn that I would be going there the next day to give Carport my title and hand over the car. Without contacting me they gave the car to Carport. I had called the next day letting them know I was on my way and they told me the car was already picked up. I was very confused since I was not called or asked if this was OK. I had been in contact with Dawn from StingRay and Carport trying to set up a time for the exchange. The man on the phone who told me Carport picked up my car began yelling at me after I said I didn't allow for the car to be picked up. I was not blaming StingRay in anyway. I understood it was a miscommunication between StingRay and Carport BUT there was no reason for this man to yell at me. Not only did this man yell at me but the day before when I asked Dawn to remove the liscence plates she didn't have that done. They were still on the car when Carport picked them up. The way this situation was handled was extremely inappropriate. I will not be going to StingRay anymore because they yelled at me, they were completely incompetent, and can no longer be trusted. read more

I had the bad luck of breaking down last Friday, so I had my car towed to Stingray as had been recommended to me by family. Once they looked at it, I had the even worse luck of my car being essentially totaled from the inside of the engine (to put it mildly). Stingray was nice enough to not charge me for the diagnostic to find out that the repairs would be more than the current value, and they even let it sit there for a few days until I could figure out what the heck to do with a dead car. They very well could have suggested I try to fix it and taken the thousands of dollars, as I'm sure some other shops might, but I really appreciate their honesty and kindness in what was a total garbage situation for me. I have been taking my car to their Redmond location for more than last two years. They used to be reliable but recently some their service has been sub-par. I got oil change and tire rotation. I doubt if they rotated tires. I know for sure that didn't check the tire pressure. Infact the tire pressure lowered and my TPMS warning came up. Tire pressure is covered under their service. My tires have worn out and I was expecting him to tell me that very little tread is left. Instead he said your car's in excellent condition! Also after leaving when I stopped at a place my car's battery drained and it could not start. This means when they serviced they had lights or something else on. I also noticed that they were servicing the vehicles behind closed shutters. Not going here again. read more

I bought an oil change groupon for the Seattle location over a year ago. When I tried to use it a year ago, they were booked for over a month. I noticed it was expiring within two weeks so called to make an appointment, but they were again booked far out. The guy was super nice and told me there was availability at their Redmond location and that they did take the groupon. Gave them a call, and again, very friendly service. Booked an appointment for the last day of the Groupon. Unfortunately for me, unknown to my knowledge until I got on the road, it was the same day as the Rock n' Roll marathon. I got to Stingray 30 minutes late. Luckily for me, his noon got in early so he gave them my spot. He happily changed my oil. He also let me know of an electrical issue I had but didn't try to get me to spend more money to fix it. I felt that was really nice! If Redmond wasn't so out of my way I would make this my home auto shop. I will defiently make an appointment at the Seattle locaiton for next time, though. read more

I'll make this quick: - Price was amazing. $15 for a quality oil change was a steal. - Speed was excellent. Had an appointment for 2pm, came a bit early and they took it in right away. I was out of there in 20-25 min, they processed the payment while they finished up the car and both the car and I were ready to head out at the same time. - Service was top notch. Can't beat the friendliness, treating me like a long-time friend though I'd never been there before. Cordial and down to earth. These guys are great. - Honesty. They didn't try to up-sell me any other repairs, replacements, etc. They will only tell you there is something that needs fixing if they think that you and/or the car are in danger without fixing it. They aren't salesmen, they won't try to rob you blind. These guys are amazing, their service is excellent, and their prices were very competitive. I'll be making a trip back very soon. read more

I've been taking my truck to the Seattle location for a couple years now. It's kind of a PITB to go to downtown Seattle but it's worth it because of Stingray's fantastic customer service, pricing, and competence. The whole time I've been going to the Seattle location the owner Jason has been talking about opening a new location somewhere on the Eastside, which I eagerly anticipated. Now that it's open I had a chance to check out since I needed an oil change, and I'm happy to say it's exactly like the Seattle location. Except for the location itself of course...talk about polar opposites. This place is way out in the sticks. It's definitely not what you think of when you hear "Redmond". Side note: it's so weird how Redmond goes from the hustle and bustle of all the big box stores, strip malls, traffic, and general suburbia to the toolies in an instant. One moment driving along Redmond Way you're in suburbia the next you are out in the woods. It's actually not THAT far of a drive from Redmond but it seems like it's way the heck out there. Anyway, I was happy to see that the friendly customer service is present at this location too. I was just there for a routine oil change but as soon as I sat down a woman came in with a car that needed an oil change and "is leaking a lot of coolant". I knew that wasn't going to be good news for her. It wasn't, and when they started to explain to her what it was and how much it would cost to fix she asked if they would be willing to talk to her dad about it. They said they would be happy to, and they told him (apparently he's a mechanic too), that he could save a lot of money doing that repair themselves. I've found that Stingray is always very honest like that, and that's just about the most valuable trait a mechanic can have. I was out of there in 15 or 20 minutes for my oil change and it was $18 with tax. That's a great deal, and their other prices are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend them for any TLC your car might need. read more

I made the mistake of showing up an hour late and not only did they get me in within about 15 minutes, it's was done without an argument or lecture. I tried this place because of the Groupon for the oil change and because they handle all sorts of cars and seemed to have great reviews... AND it was all true. Seriously some of the most friendly people I have ever met. I took in my 10+ year old Suzuki and they offered great service. I ended up getting my front brake pads and rotors changes, and not only were they well priced, but they also offer a lifetime warranty on the brake pads so if I ever have an issue with them or need replacements, it will be free. I would highly recommend them to anyone unsure of where to go. read more

Great place to get your car fixed. First of all, my price is exactly as quoted over the phone. I was in and out of there in one hour! No waiting for my car to go in, as soon as I got there, they took it in. They replaced a wheel baring and while the wheel was off they cleaned my brakes for free! I had been quoted $200 more for the same thing where I bought my car and have had all my oil changes done for the past 10 years. This will be my new place of business, for sure! The manager, Mike, was a super friendly man with experience and integrity. This is a very trust worthy group of guys to do the work on your car as needed. I would highly recommend them. It was just an overall wonderful experience. It is well worth the short drive out of Redmond... easy to find and no parking problems to hassle with. read more

Our family has used Stingray for several years to work on multiple vehicles and have had a great experience every time. They've done basic maintenance, replaced brakes, replaced a transmission, and more. Consistently the quality of their work has been excellent, their prices have been the best when compared to other quotes, and most importantly, even when they've had opportunities to take advantage of our ignorance, they didn't. Most recently, my clutch was acting up and I told them I thought I needed to replace it. They checked it out and returned the car without charging a dime as they weren't able to replicate the issue. read more

They are so honest, reasonable, and helpful! My AC needed to be recharged so I bought a Groupon for Stingray. When I showed up for my appointment, the gentleman who checked me in pleasantly asked if I had a Groupon or coupon WITHOUT ANY JUDGMENT. When my AC was done being recharged, he came out and asked "how would you like to save some more money?" Apparently my AC relay had also gone out, so the AC still wasn't blowing cold air. Instead of charging me for the part (they would have had to order it), he told me exactly what to buy from an auto parts store and showed me how to replace it. For another $7 and 2 min of work, my AC was back up and running. I have so much trust in these guys. Don't use any other auto shop. read more

I had bought a Groupon for Stingray that was $33 for Three standard oil changes and one brake and AC evacuation and recharge. I took my car for an oil change and asked to do the AC evacuation and recharge service too, but they said we recommend doing it on the 3rd visit (as it will be closer to spring time too). Ok, I agreed, and after they did the oil change, they gave me a punch card with a hole. I had two more visits left on this Groupon. Well, irresponsible me, when time came for the second oil change, I looked for the card, but couldn't find it. I called Stingray and told them the situation, the date/time I went in for the 1st oil change, and said, whether I could come for the second one. They refused to honor the Groupon because I could supposedly be abusing the system and cheat them out of a free oil change. I said that you should have records of my visits, with my name, phone number, and VIN (they took all this information from me on my first visit), but they still refused. They said that you could have been bringing a different car, and therefore we have no way to track that you're not trying to come in for free oil changes. Even though I felt this was very unfair because if they really wanted to provide good customer service, they would have been able to look me up on the system, but I didn't fight it as I thought OK it's my fault I lost the punch card. I was definitely left with disappointment at how dismissive and unfriendly they were regarding this ordeal. I can only imagine what these guys would do should you bring your car in for service and they screw up something or don't do the service up to the expected standard. Reading some other reviews, I can see how they would just brush you off (even threaten you as one reviewer mentioned). I like to establish good relationships with people I deal with, barbers, oil change places, tire salons etc. These guys were pretty clear they don't value their customers. Let me start with that it was my fault that I took an appointment a week in advance for 8 AM service. The open sign on the door just turned on after I parked my car. I got confused about the time and reached there at 8:25AM and approached the front desk. I was told that I am late to my appointment and it will slip all his customers behind if he takes my car for an oil change today. WTF...I asked him that he has reserved an hour for my oil change and he still has 30 min left...They guys tells me that this is a rule set by his owner and he cannot do anything... I don't think this is a very customer friendly business and looks like their ratings are manufactured...This was a very simple example of customer service and I can imagine what it will be for major repairs... I am giving 2 stars as I believe it was partly my fault for reaching late... read more

The only true statement in that comment was my irritation at the children's show turned up to ear-splitting volume in the waiting room and the "good hands" of Les Schwab. He proves my point.
