Hubby had the wings. Their "Makers" sauce is good. The wings were inconsistently cooked though. He gave me a part of one and it was raw at the bone. I had the redfish entree and asked for the fries to not be seasoned. Unfortunately, they come frozen/seasoned so I had to get a Cesar salad instead but they charge extra for that. Because they have crappy frozen fries? Not sure I agree with that. Anyway, the salad was good and the redfish is decent. A bit fishy but I liked it with the sauce. Not too battered either, which was good. We also tried the cheese curds. Great crispy fried goodness there. Very good with the avacado ranch dip. I had two vodka sodas with lime and the pours were healthy while hubby enjoyed his IPA's. We will be here for the winter and I'm sure we will be back. Went in on 7/17 and were told we had a 60-90 minute wait for a table. Not a big deal we hung out in the bar area and had some liquid libations. Very nice drinks the Bloody Mary is outstanding. After a little over an hour we got our table and ordered apps and entrees. Apps came out fairly quickly and were nice. Then we waited for entrees. We waited some more. Tables that sat 30 mins after us got food, we waited. Then we waited some more. Our server kept coming over apologizing. An hour and ten minutes after our apps our server said they were about to fire our entrees and they'd be about 10 mins. We decided that we didn't want to wait any longer and peace's out. We went here first night of vacation on a Sunday night. The food was mediocre. But the service was horrendous. We waited 45 minutes just for the wrong appetizer, had to flag people down to get refills on our drinks.. And then an hour and a half later, our food came out but at that point we were ready to leave. And then had to pay 17% gratuity. What for? No one was helping. They only had outside seating available and it seems they just forgot about the tables outside. Waste of money and time. Do not go here. We used to visit Stingrays two or three times a week, but they stopped serving our favorite pulled pork BBQ pizza with pickles. For the past two years we didn't go back, but tonight I saw that they had a BBQ pizza and one of the options was pulled pork. We thought we'd give it a shot. After a long wait (25 minutes), the pizza came out with chicken on it. I'm not sure if this was a mistake on the part of our server, but it was pretty bad...the "smokehouse" BBQ chicken was just chunks of chicken, and really didn't go with the pickles. The crust was super dry and hard all the way through...like a cracker. We tried to catch our server's attention, but she never checked back with us. When we finally did mention that the meat was wrong, we asked if she could just bring us a serving of the pulled pork and we could remove the chicken and replace it with the pork. About 15 minutes, we still didn't have the pork, so we asked another server to check. When our server returned, we told her not to worry about it because we were pretty much done, she said they were "preparing it." Pulled pork is usually kept in a warmer and not made from scratch, so we're not sure why it took so long. Thankfully we weren't charged for it. Suggestions for improvement...please check back with customers after you drop off food to see if they need anything else. There was definitely room for recovery here...this could have been dealt with a lot better. read more

Stingrays was your typical tap house. The beer was cold and food was tasty. Our service was very friendly. The wood grilled pizza was very good and recommended. There were plenty of TVs to watch the numerous sporting events. The bar and grill is not a large building but there is adequate seating inside and a few tables outside. The wait time was negligible as we went around 6:30pm. If you're looking for a place to unwind, watch the game and eat some good food then this is your place. read more

Absolutely horrid, me and my friends went to stingrays and sat for about 45 minutes just to get water, the waiter was new and was completely clueless on what was going on around him. We ended up being there for a total of 3 HOURS. Only good part about our experience was the waitress Jayden, wage was attentive and actually was the entire reason we got our food. We visited on a Sunday around 1:30 pm. While waiting to be seated a server fellow approached and without even so much as a hello - asked gruffly how many while looking put out that we were even there. He showed us to a pub table & my dining partner mentioned to me that she did not care to eat at a high table. I walked up to the same fellow & asked if there was another option. He cooly stated we could have a table in another area but it needed to be cleaned. We sat down after he hastily wiped it off. I watched him take menus to other tables and blatantly walk by us many times. Because there were a few tables needing service we waited several minutes still being ignored. I have no problem waiting for service if I am acknowledged, but this guy was being downright rude and never once looked at or spoke to us after the less than friendly beginning. Anywho. We left. And went to Lelo's Island Bar just down the street. Now that place is a business to support. Great food + service. Actually glad it worked out the way it did because I will definitely try to return to Lelo's during my visit and most certainly will never return to Stingrays. Hey Stingrays. I really wanted to love this place bc it has the best TV's on the island to watch sports. The first time I went the place was empty. I got the oysters for a app. They where terrible, dry, overcooked & way too much sauce on them. And even though I was the only person there the kitchen still couldn't make my pizza correct. A couple came in & ordered pizza after me & got theirs b4 I did. The waitress came & told me that they burnt mine & had to remake it, then, the pizza I received was missing a ingredient. The second time I ordered the exact same pizza to go. It was made completely different than the first one. Lots more cheese & thicker crust. Not the super thin pizza I got the first time. The third time hubby & I came in to watch the last quarter of the Cowboys game. We ordered wings & the same pizza again to see if they could make it correct while dining in. The wings tasted freezer burnt & the waitress came & apologized to us for the pizza taking so long. She told us that the kitchen had burnt the first pizza so bad that when they threw it in the trash it set the trash can on fire. The pizza we finally did get was uncooked in the center. This place isn't the same. They took away the ribs, skinny French fries, fish and pizza. It's basically bar food now. They have flat bread in place of pizza. They serve chips and tator tots instead of the fries. They don't have a dinner meal. I had the adult grilled cheese, which was very good, but i can have grilled cheese any day at home. My spouse had the wings and they were very good, but again, not a dinner. They were filling. There's no reason to come here anymore. Our waitress was great, Hailey. We won't be back. We visited late last night due to waiting on half the party to finish golfing. We had a party of 8. I believe we were all seated by 10 pm. The bar is a little hidden but has a small parking lot right in front and a larger one right across the street. They offer indoor and patio seating. On the patio they offer games such as Jenga and corn hole. We were greeted and seated immediately at a high top table that fit our large party perfectly. Our server Patricia was amazing. Even though our party wasn't all seated she got us water immediately and checked on us throughout to make sure we were okay. Then throughout the dinner she was on top of drink and water refills. We got fried pickles and chips&salsa for our appetizers which we loved both! Highly recommend both! Also the chips are house made which were so tasty we got extra refill. We all ordered different things. I really enjoyed my huge wings, my boyfriend like the Cabo tacos but small portion for a hungry man, the shrimp po boy was awesome, the burger was tasty! Self seating. Several TVs inside and kind of loud. Ordered the ribeye medium rare. Quite a wait before meal arrived. My steak was very tender and had an excellent flavor. It was however much more done than the medium rare I ordered. The asparagus had way too much stalk left on them and so about the last 1/4 was too stringy. My salad had far too many croutons, I think they were running low on greens? Several pieces looked bad and I pulled them out. My sons fish was undercooked and they did not remove the red line down the middle so a lot of it was left on the plate. The French fries were absolutely delicious. Waiter was good but service was slow. Over all my steak was excellent as well as my fries. Rest of my sides and my sons redfish were disappointments. read more

During a 2-week vacation I got to know Stingrays Taphouse pretty well. I give it 5 stars for the bar, 3 stars for the food. The bar is awesome - there's a patio seating area, and the exterior walls roll up when the weather is nice. There's actually a four-panel large screen TV at one end of the bar, which is great if your football game happens to be on. There are also TVs above the bar. The open layout makes for great people-watching. Probably two dozen beers on tap - everything from imports like Guinness to local craft brews. The bartender told me that the selections rotate frequently, but try the Kona Pipeline if you're a porter fan. Stingrays also makes a great Moscow Mule, complete with copper cup. Good happy hour drink prices from 3-7. The food was hit or miss. On the plus side, the fried mushrooms and onion rings were crispy and tasty, although at $8.99 I wouldn't call them a great value. The peel-and-eat shrimp were firm and fresh on one visit, but overcooked and disgustingly mushy on another. (To the restaurant's credit, when we brought this to the server's attention, the offensively overcooked shrimp were promptly replaced.) The star of the show was probably the blackened grilled fish sandwich (the server told me it was locally-caught black drum). It came on focaccia bread with tomato and leaf lettuce and was delicious, even though I found the blackened seasoning a bit mild. The biggest disappointment was the pizza - grade-school cafeteria stuff, served on a wimpy and uninspiring crust, despite being cooked in what appeared to be a wood-fired pizza oven. The safe choice is the pulled pork sliders - they didn't blow me away, but were satisfying all the same. read more

The only true sports bar on the island and a great home town neighborhood bar. Make sure to check out the two corvettes above the bar. Definitely one of my favorite places to just hang out and enjoy both the locals and those who are visiting the island. The staff is extremely friendly and the bar tenders are some of the better bar tenders on the island. Plenty of large flat screen TVs to watch your favorite team. Great options for food to go with that cold beer. I highly recommend the peel and eat shrimp. The shrimp is local to the island. If you're not a shrimp fan I highly recommend the all you can eat ribs or the pulled pork sandwich. The bar offers an open air bar and just a couple blocks from the seashore and IB McGee County Park. read more

2 stars for the 2 drinks we ended up having. Cheap and tasted fine. I should start by mentioning I'm not one to leave negative reviews. I totally understand that places are understaffed, and we came during summer when it's most crowded, so we expected to wait literally anywhere. My husband and I tried to visit twice. We expected a wait, no problem. However, both experiences were not good. 1st visit: We had heard the place was dog friendly which was the main reason for checking it out. The first time, my husband waited outside at the covered picnic tables while I went to let the host know we were there. She asked if we needed a waiter, and I told her no, and that we would just be ordering a few drinks. She told me I could go up to the bar to order them. So, I went up and ordered. When asked if we wanted to close our tab, I told her we would leave it open since we are outside with our dog. The bartender told me she "Isn't supposed to wait on me." I told her no problem, I would come back and forth for more. I got my drink and went back outside. My husband was now sitting in another area (high top by the bathrooms, no shade, and sweating due to the heat - Which I understand we were outside anyways, but we originally were in the covered area.) He told me they made him move because the tables were for people who needed a waiter. While I do understand those tables were probably meant for those ordering food, there were literally 3 empty tables and absolutely no wait. We finished our drinks, paid, and left. 2nd visit: We decided to give it another try, and this time when I told the host we would need a waiter and will be ordering food for dinner, she told me how busy it was and that she would let me know what number on the list we would be. I told her no problem (it was slammed,) so she wrote our name down and I went outside to wait. After about 15 minutes of waiting we decided to leave. No issue waiting, but after our previous experience and no one even coming to tell us what number in line we are, we decided to go elsewhere. Let me start by saying that this review is for patio dining only - we didn't even set foot or look inside. We didn't have to - there are convenient restrooms located on the patio. The great: dog friendly. We brought our two dogs on our way out of town so they had to come with us. Not only are dogs allowed on the patio, each table has a dog bowl and there is a garden hose there to refill as often as you need to. The food: a little better than average. We ordered appetizers and a kids pizza. Brussels sprouts were delicious. The spicy bacon chicken bites were also great but you only get 6 little bites for $11 (and one of the six had lost its chicken and jalapeño along the way before it got to us and was just empty skewered bacon. The wings were interesting. Very large and the drumstick was still attached to the wing. The buffalo sauce wasn't spicy at all and lacked a little flavor. They were ok. Cheese curds were solid. Our 11yo liked the kids cheese pizza but only ate half. Definitely get the chocolate chip cookie skillet. The drinks: we had a couple of top shelf margaritas which were better than average but a little tart. The service: it was quite slow although we were out on the patio. We had to ask for napkins and silverware several times. It was friendly but slower than average and the staff were a little forgetful. He said he would be right with us. We waited for about 10 minutes and contemplated leaving, but I'm glad we didn't. Another server came over and took our drink order. He brought our beers very quickly. We then ordered chips and salsa and the pork BBQ flatbread. The flatbread was delicious! It was the perfect amount of food to split for a snack. I'm really bummed about this place. Why? Well it's about 3 hours away from my house on an island in the Gulf of Mexico and I can't eat here everyday, that's why! Stingray's was such a fun place to eat with some killer food. Here's the highlights: -Stingray's is a stereotypical sports bar. Lots of TVs showing lots of games all over. I am absolutely not into sports, but loved the place anyway. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming to all. It's great for all ages as well. My 5 year old loved it. It's a nice place to get some food and just hang out and relax. -Oh my goodness, the food is marvelous! Seriously, the food is top notch. I had the Maker's Mark Burger and I have had dreams about it ever since. It is probably one of the best, if not the best burger I have ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly, seasoned just right, and was just bursting with flavor. If you get it, you willl be very happy. The hubs got the local fish of the day entree. On this visit, it ended up being black drum filets that were blackened and so tasty. Neither of us had had black drum but this entree made us black drum lovers for life. The kiddo had a grilled cheese and it was really quite yummy with a ton of cheese. All 3 of us were happy and stuffed at the end of the meal. -They have a built in pizza oven! In fact, it's part of the bar's decor. -The desserts! They make some awesome cookie and s'more skillet bakes. Get one, you deserve it! -Reasonable prices. Most everything was $15 or less for full entrees. Tons of drink specials too. Several big name beers were $2 a bottle. Not too shabby. -It's not touristy at all. It's off the beaten path and in a very residential area. It's nice to get some tasty local food without the tourist vibe suffocating you whole time. Stingray's will be on my must go to list for every time I'm in Port Aransas. I love this joint and will be there for sure as soon as I get to the island again. We waited a total time of 1 hr and 15 min. It had been so long that the waiter forgot who got what. He did say he was understaffed. The food was surprisingly good. We got a vacation pizza and burgers for the kids. The parking lot is yet to be desired but that's the attitude on the island. The inside is usual bar decor and had a smokey haze to it.
