I needed up with a pair of skis and boots for around 250 which was great. The lady that helped me out explained the difference between alpine, XC and touring skiing and the advantages/disadvantages. I ended up going with XC skis cause of the low price to entry point. I'm glad I didn't read the negative yelp reviews before going here, as I found the shopkeeper to be very honest . I did buy one pair of ski pants that were a little speedy for me, but I'd rather support a brick and mortar from folks with good values that eBay or Amazon . I do need to point out how great they are at assisting folks even when super busy. When I came in there may have been 30-40 shoppers in the store, they assisted everyone with the same enthusiasm and professionalism. I'm also new to skiing and asked at least 50 or more questions before my purchase, they never became testy, short tempered or irritated with me. And the shopkeeper knew so much about skiing. Maybe I was amazed cause I'm a novice but I feel like I'm ready for the snow now, thanks again I'd give this stores solid 9.7 out of 10, thanks to the people here.

First, the peanuts have gone from bad to worse. I get the old peanuts were in a mesh sack that would continually rip, but the new brand has more black or rotten peanuts in it then ever. There's a Big 5 minutes from my house too, so I go there more. Whether someone agrees or disagrees with the message, it's not REI's job to tell customers how they should think or act. I came here for outdoor gear, not political messaging. Companies should focus on their strengths--serving customers and selling quality products--instead of jumping into virtue signaling and social posturing. This kind of messaging feels more alienating than inclusive, and it made me decide this will be my last visit. Sell gear, not ideology.
