Always get my skis waxed here after hitting bogus. Sometimes they can do it at that moment. Great price and service. I've had a few items that didn't live up to expectations and they warrantied them and got me into a better product. I feel they work with me and always try to make me a happy customer. I love this ski shop, MCU is one of the only ski hops in the valley that carry decent toddler stuff! We come here once a year for new helmets and goggles for our skiing toddler and the selection seems to get better and better every year. They also have good skis too - Rossi/Dyna. read more

I brought in some skis to have the bindings adjusted and waxed and Oakley was amazing. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. When I asked for the skis to be ready earlier than she estimated she made it happen. When I came in to pick them up, she greeted me by name and made small talk with me. We have been leasing our kids skis from McU's and have had amazing experiences with that process. Definitely recommend supporting a local business with friendly employees. read more

After being helped at the location on Jefferson, I made my way to this location to pick up items that were not in stock at the first store. I found the items that I needed, including a $200 pair of Oakley Flight Deck goggles and a $200 Pret helmet. I paid for the items and the cashier was telling me about the importance of keeping the items in protective cases so that they do not get scratched/damaged. As the cashier was placing my goggles in the included soft pouch, she dropped them on the ground. I was concerned about the condition of the item but she convinced me that they were undamaged. I am a trusting person so I did not notice the permanent scratches in the middle of the brand new goggles until I got home. read more

I've bought expensive gear here for myself and up front help is great, but trying to get support for annual rental equipment for another family member is not. Felt total different level of (no) respect when needed support with a problem. Gave up and left, probably will give it all back and rent elsewhere, even if not refunded. Then when we buy new equipment before next season, it won't be from here since it was obvious we weren't valued. read more

Got the job done on my skis but I don't appreciate being treated as if I was a child by the older man at the register who also talks to his coworkers or employees like they are dumb too. It would also be a good idea if this older man would talk to one customer at a time instead of looking to the next person in line and asking them what they need while still working on my requests. There is some toxicity in this establishment that I think needs to be worked out between the workers and also the worker to customer interaction because I didn't feel like a priority or that my business mattered to this man. read more

What a great spot. Chuck and the staff do a phenomenal job. Quick turn around on ski work, all the boot fitters are super dialed in, and they have a solid selection of really good ski gear. These guys put me in the perfect pair of ski boots for my feet, and have stuck with me to keep them dialed from season to season. If you're in the market for new skis, ski boots, gear, or any kayak/river related things in the summer this shop is definitely worth a visit. read more

I went pretty late in the season searching for a pair of Keens (or any brand of sporty water shoe). McU's gets props for actually carrying the shoes when the other downtown sports stores had phased them out. And they get additional props for randomly offering a $15 discount on said shoes. I didn't do a thorough inspection of the store, but they seemed to cover all the outdoorsy bases...although I think the place could be better organized. It almost felt like being in someone's garage...but not atypical of a sporting goods store :P read more

The bike store is my favorite in Boise. The staff is knowledgeable, but retains a chill attitude. This place has not gone the "corporate" way of many of the other Boise repair shops. This is your neighborhood bike shop, the one that you recommend to your best friends, but not everybody because you still want to keep it a secret (I realize I am sharing this on Yelp, but the guys asked me to give them a shout out). This place is a Boise's Best that may never win the popularity contest that the actual contest has turned into - and good for them. read more

Last spring we took up Frisbee golf to see what all the rage was about. The customer service was fantastic and we had a nice gentleman explain all the finer points of the Frisbee Golf game to us. Love this place! I was preparing for a move to Nashville but realized I didn't have a paddle board rack the day before I was supposed to leave. They were the only sporting goods place left in Boise that had one. They also had a promotion going on where you got ten "mcu bucks" for every $100 you spend. Since I wasn't going to be in town when they were redeemable, they took the money off my paddle board rack. I even got free installation! ($50 at REI.) I went here looking for knee pads and didn't find much. I do agree with another review that it felt like being in someones garage. Anyway as soon as I walked in the door I was asked if I needed help I said no i'm just looking. I guess that means follow me around and tell me all the sales. The employee was almost pushy with the sales. I even walked passed an item and the employee couldn't believe they still had it and asked if I needed one have, I ever seen it, do I own one. WTF so I walked around and left. They do have a lot of stuff "thats apparently on sale" I just didn't like the atmosphere. read more

I dig these guys. Very friendly help. Leased skis for the fam last 2 years And did a heat mold of my ski boot liners there (they have a heat blower machine, my liners don't like the oven). I think the guy who did my heat mold could have done a bit more detailed job but I'll go back the next time I need a mold. Excellent service! Davis set us up with perfect bike rentals for an afternoon ride along the Boise River. His passion for his job was great to see. His knowledge of lunch spots and sites along the way made our ride wonderful. Then...a flat tire due to goat head thorns! No problem for these guys! Jimmy, the manager, headed out to us on his own bike and fixed the flat in no time. On the way back to the shop he gave us a guided tour! read more

OK! This just happened on Monday 3/11/13, and it was insanely disappointed. First off I dropped my bike on Sunday and they said the would get to it on Monday. I finally had to call on Monday evening to see what the update of my bike was, and well they put me on hold for 15 minutes. WTF! They finally call me that night, I'm of course busy and leave a brief message just to call them to talk about my bike. So now this is Wednesday and they tell me that I need a new wheel, and this took how many days. Worst bike service in Boise! They use to have a really cool guy working there, and since he left it's been horrible service. read more
