My shower door guy urged me to do that before he installs the new shower door. So, I needed an electrician who could install my lights lickety-split. My contractor's electrician, who did the wiring for the heated floor, was too busy to install my lights. Therefore, late Sunday afternoon, I came to Yelp to find a good local electrician, who had the ability to do the job this week. Lucky me: I found Jason Klein. I was immediately impressed with his many great reviews. I used the Yelp platform to create a project SPECIFICALLY addressed to Jason. I explained my urgency to complete the lighting installation this week so that my shower door can be installed next week. Jason responded via Yelp's platform almost immediately. Wow! He said that he could do the project on my timeframe. Long story short, Jason's crew showed-up a little before 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, and they finished before noon. The guys installed 6 new recessed lights (3 in my bathroom and 3 in my closets). They were polite and they did a great job. The icing on the cake is that they were very neat: they wore booties inside (YES!), they laid-down tarps on the floor (Thank you!!) they covered the clothes in my closets with plastic (WooHoo!!!) and they vacuumed (Doing my Happy Dance!!!!). Throughout the process, Jason stayed in contact with me by phone/text, so I knew what was going on and exactly when his guys would arrive. I'm very pleased with Jason Klein Electric and I will definitely use them again. (I'm renovating my kitchen next.) (As an aside, I'm a bit dissatisfied with Yelp's tool for creating "Projects." I thought that I had selected a specific electrician from whom to request a quote. I included my phone number in the details. I was disappointed to find that my Project had been shared with others, who also responded. Some of them did not appear to be licensed electricians. I sent an email to Yelp's Privacy Officer inquiring as to whether that was appropriate. No response yet. No matter. I won't use that Project tool again.)

When they put down the tarp, I noticed it was VERY dirty, with tiny pieces of drywall debris on it. I asked them to remove it and then shake it outside. When they lifted it from the floor, I saw that the floor was coated with white drywall dust. So *both* sides of the tarp were dirty. Lack of attention to detail and lack of respect for the client's home. Not ok. At some point I suggested we cover the granite countertop where one of the employees was working to protect it from damage in case a tool should accidentally drop on it. Instead of accommodating my (reasonable) request, he resisted, saying "Nothing will drop". Not ok.

He's also considerate. When a contractor says he'll be there at, for example, 9 am what usually happens? You wait and wait and wait. Not with Lou. He comes on time and if he is running late, he calls to apologize and tell you how late he'll be. The truth is that contractors budget time for a job and sometimes when they get there discover it needs more time. So they can get delayed. Lou doesn't leave you hanging in the wind - he calls to say he's sorry and this is now when he'll be to you. He appreciates your business and doesn't abuse your time. Isn't this great? I've hired plenty of electricians in my day - let alone general contractors and folks to do all…read morekinds of work on all sorts of properties. I can do a lot of work construction myself - so when it comes times to hire somebody I'm basically impossible to please because I always feel like I'm paying someone else too much to do a worse job than I could do if only I had the tools and time. Moreover, normally with the trades people it is really difficult to communicate, get a clear picture of the work, understand what sort of materials they will use and at what price point, and what the breakdown of their labor will be. Not so, with Alpha Electrical services. Konstantinos was wonderfully communicative, and friendly to boot. This guy even called me back while he was on vacation halfway around the world to make sure we had our work scheduled at the right time and day. On top of that, he sent me links to the materials he was going to install (several outdoor GFI outlets - some attached to my house, and some out in my yard and on my patio). He explained all of the electrical code protocols, exactly how he would run the lines, where he would put the boxes, and offered friendly advice about the best equipment and installation procedures. When the day came to do the work, Konstantinos arrived on time and although he worked solo - he installed two yard outlets, three outdoor gfi boxes, and had to run new lines from a new breaker that had to punch out of my concrete basement walls. Amazingly, he hid the wires wonderfully behind my sheetrock basement ceiling with almost no perceptible cut and the punches to the outside were clean, minimal, and sealed up beautifully. This guy communicated wonderfully, worked efficiently, treated my property as if it were his own, and did a job better than I was expecting while all along the way suggesting little tweaks and improvements without being a pushy salesperson. (He also treated my little dog who is very fearful with a lot of respect so naturally that earned him mega bonus points). In short, I basically never pay contractors to do a job and feel good about it at the end but this guy really delivered with a price that beat the competition! BTW Whoever this Dan R. guy is clearly is out out of his mind - my experience working with Alpha Electrical couldn't have been more stress free, seamless, professional, and beyond satisfactory both in regards to price point and end-product. I just wish I could find other contractors this reliable.
