UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW OF THIS COMPANY (READ MY INITIAL REVIEW):…read more Katham Industries is correct that nothing is wrong with the boiler, the issue fueling our concerns is the incorrect installation of the piping of this boiler, thus resulting in heavy corrosion of the copper piping that was used. If the owner George Katrandjian reviewed the manufacturers installation manual of this boiler he would have noticed that on page 15 of the Installation, Operation & Maintenance Manual (see attached,) it clearly states that the installer must "Use threaded fittings for manifold piping" which George Katrandjian intentionally disregarded. The reason for the manual to specifically mention threaded pipe is because as George Katrandjian may know, this is to allow for the expansion and contraction of the pipes as the system was designed, copper sweat joints do not allow for expansion and contraction. George Katrandjian, makes mention of other work that we've hired his company to perform like the Nest installation and the transformer, we are not disputing those jobs or the charges. George Katrandjian is trying to manipulate the facts by placing blame on the gutting of the basement after the boiler was installed, however the reality is that the basement was gutted with mold remediation completed and French drains installed in the summer/fall of 2019, well in advance of the boiler installation. (email from the company that did the remediation was attached to our Better Business Bureau complaint as proof) The piping work that was completed by Katham to our boiler was not done to manufacturers specifications and instead of accepting responsibility and correcting the issue George is deflecting and placing blame on work that was done before the boiler was installed. Pipes were installed incorrectly not banged by other workers and we should not be financially responsible to repair due to their substandard work. BOTTOM LINE, DO NOT LET KATHAM INDUSTRIES INC., INTO YOUR HOME, AS THEY CLEARLY DO NOT HONOR NOR STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK! PICTURES SPEAK A THOUSAND WORDS!

If there was a no-star review, I would choose that. This week was the third time in three months…read morethat my friend had to call Katham to fix the heating system Katham installed about five years ago. The first time she paid over $425.00 to replace a dual capacitor, the second time she paid over $475,00 to repair the ignition control, and now she was charged over $850.00 for a switching relay. In all three cases, the price of the parts was grossly inflated. The relay switch Katham charged $697.00 for is available at Home Depot for $252.00. When she pointed this out to them, they replied arrogantly, "Well, you can always go buy the part and call us to put it in," knowing full well that she wouldn't know what part to buy in advance! The rational they give for overcharging for parts is this: If you buy a box of spaghetti in a store, it's $2.00. If you eat it in a restaurant, it's $20.00. Give me a break, Katham. You're ripping people off.

I've hired plenty of electricians in my day - let alone general contractors and folks to do all…read morekinds of work on all sorts of properties. I can do a lot of work construction myself - so when it comes times to hire somebody I'm basically impossible to please because I always feel like I'm paying someone else too much to do a worse job than I could do if only I had the tools and time. Moreover, normally with the trades people it is really difficult to communicate, get a clear picture of the work, understand what sort of materials they will use and at what price point, and what the breakdown of their labor will be. Not so, with Alpha Electrical services. Konstantinos was wonderfully communicative, and friendly to boot. This guy even called me back while he was on vacation halfway around the world to make sure we had our work scheduled at the right time and day. On top of that, he sent me links to the materials he was going to install (several outdoor GFI outlets - some attached to my house, and some out in my yard and on my patio). He explained all of the electrical code protocols, exactly how he would run the lines, where he would put the boxes, and offered friendly advice about the best equipment and installation procedures. When the day came to do the work, Konstantinos arrived on time and although he worked solo - he installed two yard outlets, three outdoor gfi boxes, and had to run new lines from a new breaker that had to punch out of my concrete basement walls. Amazingly, he hid the wires wonderfully behind my sheetrock basement ceiling with almost no perceptible cut and the punches to the outside were clean, minimal, and sealed up beautifully. This guy communicated wonderfully, worked efficiently, treated my property as if it were his own, and did a job better than I was expecting while all along the way suggesting little tweaks and improvements without being a pushy salesperson. (He also treated my little dog who is very fearful with a lot of respect so naturally that earned him mega bonus points). In short, I basically never pay contractors to do a job and feel good about it at the end but this guy really delivered with a price that beat the competition! BTW Whoever this Dan R. guy is clearly is out out of his mind - my experience working with Alpha Electrical couldn't have been more stress free, seamless, professional, and beyond satisfactory both in regards to price point and end-product. I just wish I could find other contractors this reliable.
