The food is decent. The Korean bbq does not taste like Korean food at all, just tastes like a really good short rib (it's delicious though). When I went they gave my table another tables order; which I was fully aware of since only 1 person received their plate. So the plate sat there maybe 1-2 mins without anyone touching it and they took it off our table and immediately handed it to the correct table. Which I find to be nasty because what if we actually started to eat off of it or touched it. The crowd upstairs on a Friday night is....quite interesting. But the view is spectacular. I've been here on a Saturday for a day party - the seats are gross upstairs and they really need to be cleaned as well. I do not think that I would return for dinner. If you don't want to read full review here's the condensed version. STAY AWAY! I went with friends yesterday our party was a total of 7. When my husband and I initially arrived we sat at bar (just the two of us while we waited for rest of party to arrive) and the unhappy, unfriendly and rude bartender asked us what we wanted. I ordered a paloma (tequila with grapefruit juice) and my husband ordered a bud light. When he got the bill it was $21.46 - she included 18% tip for herself. Since when do I have to tip for poor service? She had even thrown the card back at my husband. I had no intention of tipping 18%, hell wasn't even planning on 15% because she was so rude. But our party arrived and table was ready so we paid and moved on. At the table we sat at, the ceiling was leaking. My husband and I kept getting hit by water. It wasn't a consistent drip and therefore towards the end of dinner we told waiter and he said "oh I'll mention it to manager". Nothing more. Now the food. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip and it was decent. I had to order more dipping bread because they only given you a little. By the time the bread was gone with still had a lot of dip left over but nothing to dip in it. My main plate was cedar plank salmon, it was decent not outstanding but not bad. I cannot say the same thing for the mash potatoes (I got regular mash potatoes not the chipotle ones that come with the plate). The mash potatoes had a sour taste they were also tangy and salty as if they had mixed them with lemons. I ate a few bites of it but could not eat the majority. So basically I ate salmon no side. My husband ordered the chicken fried rib eye which he said was not rib eye. It was dry and tough for a "rib eye". One other person also ordered the chicken fried rib eye and he also did not like it. Neither one of them liked their mash potatoes (4 people at table had mash potatoes and no one liked them). So the food is not worth the price. A place like Chili's beats this one by far in taste and price. As for the bill, we had a party of 7. We noticed again the bill had 18% gratuity. Once again why? To top it off I learned (the day after) that gratuity is automatically added at 18% if your party is 8 or more. What the heck! The food is awful and the staff just assumes they deserve 18% for bad service (at the bar) and just okay service at the table. I didn't plan on writing the review but I don't like feeling ripped off. This is how I feel. Mind you I always tip (even when it's bad service) but it should be how much I want tonot an automatic 18%. I call that bs. Almost forgot to mention the women's restroom was dirty (toilet paper on floor). To go to rooftop bar we had to go back outside to wait. Once we were allowed up they split our party, 4 were allowed up and then 3, 5 minutes later. Once we were all up there we only stayed a few minutes. The food was pretty good but the service is what really brought it down. We had our field team in town and made a reservation for our group here. When we arrived, we were seated right away (it was a Wednesday at 6pm) overall the restaurant only had a few other patrons. Our group was ordering appetizers and lots of drinks, but it was so hard to get the servers attention to even order anything. And when he did come by he was not engaging the group and didn't seem like he was listening half the time. Even getting refills on water was difficult. It was crazy how bad the service was. I have been to Stirr before for my husbands Baylor Residency dinner in the back room and the service was awesome! Sad day when I had my own coworkers come and the service sucked. In planning, Seth Matthews was AMAZING: Easy to plan with, responsive, friendly, genuine... I can't say enough good things about him. Then, the night of, the service was impeccable. Seth and his staff didn't miss a beat! My guests and I felt welcomed, the food was SO good, and even with 4 courses, the timeliness was spot on to keep the whole night flowing well. I came here on a Tuesday night for a friend's birthday dinner. Here are my takeaways: Food/Drink: I like their diverse food choices. I sampled the mussels which were a little small but good taste. I went with the Cow and Pig Burger for my entree. Needless to say, that was one of my favorite burgers. Good taste and everything complimented well. The fries were not my favorite though. As far as drinks, there is a nice wine selection. They let you sample so won't hurt to ask. 4/5 Atmosphere: 1st floor is restaurant with bar on the side. Our area was comfortable for our group of 12-15. The lights were dimmed at first but they accommodated brightness when we asked. The 2nd floor is the bar/outdoor patio scene which is worth the view. Arguably, best view at Deep Elum of downtown. 4/5 Service: I have some plus and minuses on this. With our large group, there will be long wait for food/drinks. However, our table had an instance where they missed a beer refill. Also, not sure if this is company policy but we had a tab per table so we had to tell server how much to charge per person. This made things a little confusing, splitting tabs would just be easier (considering there's already a 20% gratuity charge). Water refills and cleanup were quick though. 3/5 Overall, I am torn between 3 and 4. I lean towards 4 because of the food and atmosphere but I am still iffy on that tab split. The calamari was good, the buffalo egg rolls weren't anything spectacular however. All in all, just a so-so experience. One thing I was surprised about was $2.09 "commodity fee," which I have no idea what that is. Additionally, the waiter added a 20% gratuity although there were only 3 of us. I visited Stirr for my friend's birthday. We were greeted and seated, everyone super friendly and the restaurant is gorgeous. The decor is very chic and they have indoor and rooftop seating. We sat inside. We ordered a few appetizers and all of them were amazing. The artichoke dip is ridiculous. I usually don't even like those, but it was off the chain. I also had the poblano mac&cheese and it was super delicious. We all ordered drinks, very good cocktails. My table had 6 people and we all ordered different things, from salads to pasta and burgers. The burger is the size of your face! The salad was nice and fresh and the pasta took a while, but it was amazing. The waitress was very apologetic and she comped out the pasta dishes because it took longer than usual. I really liked the place, the crowd is slightly basic (that may just be because Deep Ellum is becoming the new uptown). The food is fantastic and I will be back to try the rooftop. read more

STIRR is my kind of place! It's cute, chic, trendy, laid back, has a cool vibe, good service, and a really nice upstairs rooftop patio with a bar. Seriously, what's not to love about this place? I had Sunday brunch here with a couple of cousins this past weekend. We split a mimosa pitcher between the three of us for $15 total (such a good deal!), and we each had an order of the chicken and waffles. The food was really good. Our waiter was also very friendly and was very attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant has cool gray stucco walls, plush, large, beautiful upholsterred seating, wooden tables, and pastel accents throughout. It's gorgeous! Mix that low-key, posh feel with random bright, neon light fixtures in the dining room, and you have STIRR. While we were chatting and catching up before I headed to the airport to return home to STL, one of the bussers kept coming to our table to take our plates away. We weren't finished and found it odd and slightly annoying that he kept trying to rush us. The manager also approached our table and asked how was everything. Once we were completely finished eating and paid our checks, the same manager returned to our table and sat in the open seat at the table. He told us, in a nice way, that a large party was coming and that he'd offer us a free mimosa pitcher if we went upstairs to the rooftop patio. Uh, yes please!!!!! So we then made the long hike upstairs to the patio. I LOVED THE PATIO! It is so cute, chic and comfortable. The furniture reminds you of a cute beach house, with lots of wood and comfy pillows. There's a long bar up there, as well as restrooms so you don't have to journey downstairs if you need to relieve yourself. This place sits on a corner in Deep Ellum and is EXTREMELY easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled for the corner building with the large windows with the couches inside that look like they're straight out of an Anthropologie lookbook. This review is strictly for the drinks/rooftop bar area. We came to STIRR for drinks after dinner and the rooftop bar area was vibrant and a ton of fun. There was a decent amount of people and a dj playing. We had a group of 8 and the server was very attentive and making sure we were well taken care of. Stirr is definitely the perfect weekend spot! My friends and I go here about once a month or so for so many reasons! First of all it's always a good time! The rooftop has a DJ and party every Sunday which is so fun(but it does get a bit crowded!). They also have one of the greatest brunch and dinner menus in Dallas! Our glasses were dirty, she took 36 min to order our food/drinks. She catered to a group of gentleman sat down for more than 5 min. While we had food missing, didn't check on us, no water etc. Called the manager/Rachel made her aware. She immediately stated that's not like her. No apology at all as if the waitress is her close friend. We asked for her supervisor/Darren. He immediately stated he'll investigate what's going on. By this time the table confronted him about not acknowledging the poor customer service⁉ We weren't asking for anything off our bill we wanted good customer service. Unfortunately, no apology. Since when did people start partying so early?! Clearly, they did not have a kids' menu, but that was ok with us. Our 10 year old has decided that kids' meals are way too small for him and we never know when our 6 year old is going to eat. We ordered the Calamari. The 6 year old loved it so much he asked our server for more! My little one and I shared a burger and jalapeno mac and cheese. Both were very good. The mac and cheese wasn't too spicy which was good since my son ate most of the burger on me! So... what's the problem then? Being seated at a table and abandoned without a server for one. Somehow I managed to figure out what I wanted to drink and eat before our server arrived. That never happens. I also had time to observe the couple at the bar groping each other and making out (lovely). It was a little more action than I had hoped for my children to see on a Sunday afternoon. After getting the manager's attention, it still was quite a while before we were served and service was not great - surprise, surprise. It was my first time here, but was recommended by some friends. So I came here for HH at their upstairs patio. When we walked in the Hostess was making out with someone that might possibly work. It was FULL on making out. They of course stopped when we walked in, but no acknowledgement. I just asked if we can go to the patio and she said yeah that's all. Then when we went upstairs there was only one bartender running around doing everything. While we looked over the menu to see what to order, I went to the ladies room and everything was out of stock. They don't have everything listed on their Happy Hour menu so if you want to enjoy the nice weather probably pick somewhere else to enjoy. This is my second time at STIRR and my second bad experience. The last time we went it was really busy, so there's a layer of levity for that time. The food is quite good (highly recommend the avocado hummus!) so we wanted to give it another shot. From the second we walked in the door, we felt uncomfortable. We almost felt like an imposition, which is definitely not a feeling you like when you go to eat. We decided to forgo our reservation for seating upstairs. The view in itself gets a star because it's honestly a pretty cool spot. However, the service is hands down the worst service we ever had. Our waitress was never around. We got there at 5:30, put in for apps at 5:40, then didn't see our waitress again for 30 minutes. By 6:10, we went up to the bar to get drinks, but they refused to give us Happy Hour prices because it was after 6pm. The only problem is we would have gotten the drinks in before if the waitress had come back! It was so bad at one point the table next to us had to go find someone. I will say, she was the only waitress up there, but it was NOT busy enough for her to simply disappear for extended period of times without a word. When she finally showed up (after a massive manhunt) the attitude she gave us was bordering on aggressive. Yikes. The margaritas we got weren't the best, but their take on cheese fries is amazing. Our one friend ordered actual food (just a sandwich) and it took so long we actually forgot about it. The waitress said it was because of a wedding, which might explain the timing. But nothing can explain why it seems like everyone who works here is ready to throw hands at any moment. We ended up moving back downstairs to the bar to finish up our food and drinks because we didn't want the crazy bad energy from the waitress anymore. The bartenders were fine, as were the green tea shots they made. I always try to give a place a second chance when it comes to service (hey! Everyone has a bad night, and service workers deal with more BS on a given day than other non-service industry people do, so I get it). Heart of downtown Dallas/ Deep Ellum. Dropped by for lunch today. There's parking on the streets and there's pay by hour parking right across the street as well. I got lucky and parked right in front of the restaurant! It's a three story place, the top floor has an excellent bar that gives you a splendid view of Dallas! Has couches and patio vibes, it was cold today so it was covered transparently. We walked in and requested to sit upstairs, the girl told us it was okay to sit up and we could order from there too but when we went up the bartender said we could only get drinks and bites upstairs, and for lunch we had to go downstairs. So it was kinda misleading and lack of information/communication there. We had Zack as our server. He's great at what he does. Based on his recommendation, we tried their flatbread pizzas. We had chimicurri meat lovers pizza and sweet n spicy flatbread pizza for lunch along with great mimosas. The pizzas were AHHHHMAZING. I hate to be this person being as I have worked in the service industry myself but my experience was so terrible and for the second time that I had to make a Yelp just to leave this review. Hopefully this gets to their corporate team and something is done about it. I saw on Instagram that they now have chicken and waffles on the menu so decided to give this place another try. I understand it is Sunday and that Deep Ellum is busy, but me and my friends didn't get any type of service for about 20 min after getting sat. I asked who the manager was and no surprise that when I was told the woman was standing around on her phone. We decided to give up the table and just head to the bar upstairs to get a couple of drinks before we headed somewhere else. Later on we see that same manager upstairs drinking with a group I assume were her friends. Come to find out she's this place's new general manager. What a joke. You'd think they'd bring in better people but clearly not. This place is gonna end up like most other places in Deep Ellum with horrible service... shut down. For the pricing they have you'd think their lead management would be more professional and their service would be better. Do not waste your time or money here.
