So I have been here several times over the years. And I have never had an issue, and always considered it one of the best in the area. However tonight changed that outlook. The waitress was rude, had an attitude, and when I asked for the sushi menu, never brought it. The chef, while nice to us, was yelling at the waitress to bring things. Each time he yelled, it made everyone jump at the table. The food was subpar. The veggies were not cooked long enough, the meat was not cooked to order, and tasted a bit off. The only good thing about it was that there was more than plenty to go around (but that's a normal thing there anyways). I sure hope management takes notice of the fact that this location is going downhill and needs some serious improvement. read more

I would say Stix is the Applebee's of Asian food, but that would be unfair to Applebee's, because at least there you can watch ESPN. What I mean is, Stix is lively, busy, and has a long menu with all the choices you'd expect. On the other hand, it serves food that "looks" Asian, but, ha! Fooled ya! I asked for green tea. They didn't have it. But the waitress then said they had jasmine tea. Fair enough. But then it was served with honey and lemon. :/ Then I went to order sushi. Can I have a sushi platter? Only sashimi. Not nigiri. :/ Nine pieces of nigiri would be almost $30, so I passed on that. I ordered some rolls. The spicy tuna was that pink tuna mush, not pieces of tuna, but it was OK. The eel roll was smothered in sugary syrup sauce and I couldn't taste the eel at all. This time, I sat at the hibachi grills rather than the tables, I ordered a chicken dinner with double rice and vegetables without carrots. My order was perfect and the food was amazing. All COVID-19 protocols were followed with masks and table separations. This restaurant is very sustainable since they have reusable cups, plates, and cloth napkins to be re-used. This Stix is by far our favorite location and I live in Hoover. This is not a review for the Hibachi side! We always sit on the Chinese/Thai side near the bar. Or at the bar, which has two TVs flanking both sides. We almost always get an order of bang bang chicken for an app. It's comparable to the bang bang shrimp flavor at other nice restaurants. The hot and sour soup is another favorite with big pieces of chicken and shrimp and packed with flavor! For entrees, the spicy basil is delic with lots of veggies. The mongolian beef is also a fav, sauce is just right! We are also a fan of the red dragon roll which has a drop of sriracha on the top. Stix is always a solid choice for an entertaining meal. My finance and I have dined here a few times, this review is based in our latest experience. Firstly I prefer this stix because the wait isn't as long as their sister in Hoover. We were promptly seated and orders taken. I'll start with the drinks. Stix is only one a few places that I can get Sapporo on tap, big tick there. My finance got a red wine. What I have never understood however is why it always takes so kin for the drinks to come out. Usually it is a 15 minute wait. Also they didn't have a great brand of cucumber sake which their sister location had. Time to get some consistency stix. Our chef was a legend and had some hibachi tricks I haven't seen before. He was quite entertaining spiking eggs and showing he was the matter of the flame. I got steaks and shrimp and my fiancé got shrimp and scallops both of us were impressed with the size and flavour of the shrimp. Each of us like our meals, rice and veggies cooked well. When eating at stix be prepared to have lunch for the next day. With your meal soup and salad are standard or in my case double salad. Our sever was friendly and reasonably attentive. My husband and I both ordered the filet and our friend who had joined us Oder a 3 part appetizer. When our food arrived 45 Min after we placed the order it was very disappointing. The filet was over cooked and had the look and taste of meat that had been microwave. My friends appetizer had two items on it that was eatable. Our waitress was also the bar tender she had Forgotten to get our food and therefor the microwave heat up that over cooked our food. She wasn't very pleasant from the get go and it quickly went down hill. She knew people who are paying 27 for a steak isn't going to be happy with microwave stew meat. Stopped in last night because I was in desperate need for some hibachi (yum) unfortunately for me this was the closest location. Came here right during the peak hours of dinner & there was a serious wait. You know what that means....bar time! Sat at the bar & the bartenders seemed a bit overwhelmed & rushed. In their defense they were trying their hardest to give me a "dining experience" but sadly fell short. I think management here should make sure they have the support they need. Now onto the food. The standard onion soup was waaaay too salty. Seemed like something out of a can with high sodium content. Yuck. Not the light onion broth I expected. Then the fried rice. What fried rice?? Epic Fail. It's not fried rice AT ALL! No veggies, no eggs, & no flavor. They just heated up some white rice on a flat top until it turned brown. Major disappointment smh. My chicken, shrimp, veggies, & salad were all just right though... It's just so disappointing to crave & look forward to at least a decent hibachi place & get let down. I placed an online order from Stix in Fultondale, AL on 3/14/21. This was my first experience at a Stix location. I placed an order online for pick up that included an order of spring rolls. The online order form asked for both my phone number and email address for contact when I paid online. I was not contacted by either that phone number or email to be informed that one of the items I ordered was out. While waiting at Stix to pick up my order I noticed that the restaurant was not very clean. I picked up my oder from Stix, but once I got back I discovered that the spring rolls from my order were missing. I called Stix and the staff member I spoke to apologized and asked if I wanted to come back to pick up my missing spring rolls. I said that I did since they were part of the dinner we had planned and ordered to feed our party of 3. The male staff member I spoke to told me that the spring rolls would be ready by the time I arrived back. Once I arrive back in the Stix location in Fultondale, the spring rolls were not there and after I explained that the spring rolls were missing from the order I had picked up - the female staff member I spoke to told me that they were out of spring rolls and had been sold out since before I placed my online order. This shocked me, not because I was surprised that they had sold out, this happens in the restaurant industry. I was shocked by how it was handled. Not only had I not been contacted by either the phone number or email I had been asked to provide when ordering, to let me know that the spring rolls were sold out and to ask if I wanted to cancel them or replace with another food item (which would have been ideal to remedy the situation before I picked up my food). Unfortunately this did not happen. When I picked up my order in store, still I was not informed that they were out of spring rolls and that they were not in my bag. Even more unfortunately, even when I discovered this and called about the missing spring rolls, I was still not informed that they were out. It wasn't until I returned to the store, while the other 2 members of my party waited and our food grew cold, that I was finally told that the spring rolls had been sold out that whole time. This is an extremely disappointing first experience with Stix. I appreciate that many different people are involved in the order fulfillment process and that restaurants are busy places, however this situation could have been remedied, very easily, very easy on, If I had been contacted after ordering, or when picking up my order, about the sold out item and what my options were. But the fact that it was ignored and not addressed, is unacceptable customer service in my opinion. The manager on duty did refund the spring rolls from my order and replaced them with dumplings, which I appreciated. But quite honestly, we didn't get what we wanted, we ended up eating over an hour after we had initially picked up our food, so most of it was cold, and by that point in time no one was particularly impressed, nor enjoying our first experience from Stix. I am thoroughly disappointed by this experience and after reaching out to Stix directly about this experience I was not even contact back, not even an apology. I strongly recommend eating somewhere else in Fultondale, knowing that they clearly do not care about providing any positive or proactive customer service, nor rectifying any negative customer service experiences. read more

This is only our third time eating at Stix. We are not connoisseurs of Asian cuisine nor are we big fans of teriyaki or sushi. My husband only eats sesame chicken from Chinese take out, isn't adventurous enough to try a Thai noodle plate, and thought paying $20 for a hibachi plate that he knew he wouldn't like was too high. Thankfully he spotted the Spicy Thai Beef Salad which has sliced steak, red onion, cucumbers, and tomatoes on a bed of greens with a spicy lime sauce. The sauce was spicy but not overwhelming with flavor and the waitress offered some extra lime wedges to boost the flavor. he said it was something he'd definitely get again. I got the Thai Chicken Noodle Bowl and requested it spicy. Grilled chicken with a curry sauce, rice noodles, cilantro and green onions. I thought it was very good. Hi , I am going to tell you about my favorite place to eat . One cool thing is that they cook right in front of you !!!!! The place I'm talking about is called STIX . It's on 280 by Walmart and Logans SteakHouse . When it's the holiday season they decorate very well . They put up Christmas decorations on both outside and inside. For Halloween, they make a special desert but only if it is your birthday . They make you feel very welcome when you walk through the door . The food was amazing . It was freshly cooked in front of me . When they finished cooking it the aroma of many smell was nice . When I smelled it my mouth started to water . I had chicken , steak , rice and vegetables . The taste was very savory and delicious . My mom said it was scrumptious . My food was irresistible so I gulped it all down . The service was amazing . The lady that was serving us was so nice . She helped the other tables around us . The cook was very funny and had a lot of humor . Great entertainment and food tastes really good (probably from the globs of butter they use ) house salad is AMAZING!!! that dressing is the best thing ever. I went a second time to get their wonton soup and curry to go. Soup was very dissapointing, barely got two wontons (thats the beat part of the soup!) and curry was alright. If i go back ill probably just do the hibachi. I will say service overall is really good. The waitress that took care of me during the takeout process was AMAZING! So they wait because they have already waited this long and 15 minutes later they are told they are short staffed and a while line of stuff and there is still going to be more of a wait. At this point I have tried to call the store twice with no answer to see if I can find out what's going on since my 17 year old didn't want to speak up.... sadly they had to leave because they have curfews and still at 8 pm needed to eat. I was not overly impressed at this place. The waitstaff was extremely young and did not know their alcohol. I ordered a gin and tonic and the young lady taking our order did not know what that was.
