I was really disappointed with my experience at STK. Given the reputation and pricing, I expected much better. Our party ordered the burrata, fried rice, steak frites, oysters, steak tartare, tacos, tequila cocktails, and an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the only items we actually enjoyed were the tacos, the fried rice, and the drinks. The tequila cocktails and espresso martini were excellent and were easily the highlight of the evening. The food, however, was a major letdown. The burrata seemed old, was firm instead of creamy, and was served without any bread or crackers, which made the dish feel incomplete. The steak frites arrived cold and lacked flavor. The oysters were not enjoyable, and we waited an unusually long time for cocktail sauce, only to initially receive two containers of vinegar. The steak tartare was also disappointing and not something we could finish. While the bartenders did a good job keeping drinks flowing and were pleasant throughout the evening, the food service was extremely slow. We wanted to speak with a manager about our experience, but never had the opportunity. Even getting the check and paying the bill took far longer than it should have. For a restaurant at this price point, the quality of the food and overall dining experience simply did not meet expectations. We left feeling disappointed and with no desire to return

My friend and I visited the restaurant for a quick happy hour on a Thursday evening. The bar was full so we were seated at a table. The hostess was hardly enthused to assist, but the server was excellent. He and the kitchen staff were very patient as my friend navigated a newly found gluten allergy. We had to order a few drinks, as the bar wasn't prepared to serve all the beverages on the happy hour menu due to lack of ingredients. Once I was able to settle on the Cucumber Gimlet, it was great! I also ordered Oyster on the Half Shell, Jalapeño Pickled Shrimp Cocktail and friend Mac & Cheese balls (from the World Cup event menu). Everything was as expected and quick to serve. The best part was the happy hour is beyond affordable. We were shocked at the great deals during happy hour.

I appreciate the kitchen here is open late night. I tried the potatoes gratin (huge portion) , cheesesteak eggs, crabcake, and sirloin. Everything was really good and steak was good perfectly. The atmosphere is nice and clean and the music is loud but not obnoxious.

Came to STK to try out their happy hour. It's located inside the hotel. The service was really good and the drink that I had was good as well. Happy hour food is smaller versions of what is on the larger menu and for the most part it was good. Nice atmosphere inside and there is also outdoor seating if you prefer that.

This restaurant is inside the Marriott Marquis right by the Mt Vernon convention center so evening time brings in a lot of post work traffic. I went there for the happy hour since small bites were between $3 and $9. The food was delicious and I loved every thing we ordered. We got the tater tots ($3), short rib quesadilla ($6) which was extremely delicious, popcorn chicken ($9), and several cheeseburgers with fries ($12). The cheeseburgers come with chips but we wanted fries which were a $3 upgrade. I would've gotten chips if our server had informed us of the surcharge for fries since we didn't eat much of it at all (they were delicious though). The cheeseburgers were very good and I'd be down to come back for just the burgers. The cocktails were also $9 and we got the mojito and the strawberry guava gin drink, both were great. The space was packed for happy hour and the vibe was upbeat. I'd come back for the happy hour anytime. Highly recommend!

Jamil was EXCELLENT!!! Definitely will ask for him when we return. HH $9 cocktails and $3 crab and corn fritters was the best. Surprised at the size of the salad and getting 4 cocktail shrimp. Order way more food than we needed but it was all good. Highly recommend to get the $49 dinner while it lasts.

Happy hour here is such a vibe. First of all, it's hard to even find a happy hour in DC these days that's halfway decent and much less one that starts at 2:30 and is literally every day! I've been to this STK several times before but I came recently and was reminded of how great it is here. Yesterday I met up with some friends and everyone was really impressed with the happy hour deals and the service provided by the entire staff, but in particularly Dione and Brandon. Kudos to them! My favorite drink was "Dragon's flare" and my favorite apps were the wagyu meatballs and short rib quesadilla. I'll be back sooner than later!

Service is great, but overall experience is definitely overhyped when you can eat somewhere with similar foods/price with much better tasting for all things vs just one. We were promptly seated for our reservation, though there is a lot of emphasis on mandatory steps in order to dine there. No ordering entrees until everybody in the party is seated and no complimentary bread until entrees are ordered. Bread was okay, nothing addictive about it like most places with complimentary bread. My lamb chops were all well done instead of medium well and the mashed were good, but not for $21. Paying for a half scoop of butter that barely enhances the meal is questionable. I did enjoy the unchained passion drink -- very sweet! Our waiter, Dylan, was attentive and was good at giving descriptions and recommendations. I enjoyed the DJ + music not being too loud for conversation.

After dining here with a friend, we both decided that it exceeded expectations for a restaurant inside a hotel. Walk inside the grand Marriott Marquis and go left. A neon sign directs you deep into a dimly-lit, but glowing restaurant with all the gimmicks from red bull statues to more neon lights. To feed two of us, we got the lobster mac and cheese, spring rolls, steak, asparagus, bread, shrimp scampi, butter cake, and more. What stood out are the steak with the wagyu butter, lobster mac and cheese, and the fun cloud butter cake. It comes out engulfed in cotton candy that the server lights on fire revealing the cake. The cocktail list is large with standard cocktails and more creative. They have something for all people from savory to sweet. Our server Dylan was excellent! All of his recommendations were spot on!

My good girlfriend decided to have her birthday dinner here. I've been to the DC location for the first time recently and had a great experience, so I was excited to go again. My first time ever visiting STK was the LA location back in 2021... I say all of this to say, I've been on their mailing list for quite a while; whether it was from 2021 or my recent visit in February 2026. My friend's dinner was set for April 3, and ironically, I received an email from STK the morning of offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree. I showed the server the email (which it instructs me to) to verify that the appetizer would be honored- he said yes. I also verified that their seasonal menu that included a crab fondue appetizer would be honored- he said yes. So I ordered the crab fondue. I also ordered a filet, cooked medium. The fondue was a 6/10, but I wasn't bothered since it would later be comped. My steak came out well done, which was saddening. I did not want to cause a scene at my friend's celebration so I kept quiet. When it came time to check out, I notice the fondue was on the bill. I alerted the server who admitted to forgetting to remove it, and he mentioned he had to go show his boss. He returned saying they could not honor the email I received due to the offer expiring (mind you, I received this email the morning of dinner). It's not the cost that disappointed me, but the principle. I would not have ordered the crab fondue appetizer that I really only ordered because it was a new item. Otherwise, the restaurant was nice, classy, not too loud. The drinks were excellent and the bread was LOVELY! There didn't seem to be a dress code. The server was. Sweetheart, although the incident with not honoring their promise and the overcooked steak left a major smear on my experience. It was not about me last night though, and my friend really enjoyed her birthday dinner :)

The food was pretty good. The service was speedy. The steak and frites were pretty good. The steak comes medium but it was a little tough for me. The fries were cold but tasted good... no one really likes cold fries. The crab and corn fritter was amazing!! Crispy and seasoned perfectly. The meatballs were a little too mushy, they were not firm. The sauce was great. Not pictured*** The Short rib quesadilla it was good just a little greasy. I had a glass of cabernet from the happy hour menu but it ended up not being a happy hour price.

I was craving butter cake and found that they now have butter cake on the menu!!! We came here and I was ecstatic. It tasted so good and we ate every last bit. The fruit was a healthy twist and the cotton candy was a fun addition. Just came for dessert. Served worked out the seating to satisfy me as best he could. And, the white decor was very chic. My husband took me on a special date night to try out the STK restaurant. This beautiful resturant is in the Marriott hotel! Once walking into the restaurant, you're immediately greeted by the hostess stand where you will check-in for your reservation. Someone will escort you into the heart of the place where the ambiance is ready for a wonderful date night or outing with friends. Table is set with small candle the waiter will light once you arrive. The bread provided was soft and absolutely amazing! Our starter appetizer was the ceviche! It was made to perfection and we ate every bite. I ordered the lamb chops which were flavored very well and my husband had the shrimp scampi! The shrimp were jumbo and we both took home left overs since they were large plates. Definitely recommend STK for a wonderful date night experience!

In town for a conference and looked forward to trying out this DC location. Service was inattentive and rushed and included a botched bill in the end ... we were given the bill for the next door neighbor table. Food was average at best. Steak was over cooked. Waiter was dismissive when we asked to customize one of the entrees ... STK's version of "have it our way." You're a steak house, ok, not a Michelin Five Star. Also annoying that they have no restrooms, but "share" with the Marriott lobby, Starbucks, a pub and another restaurant. That means a pretty good walk out of the restaurant and an across to the other side and back. I see a lot great reviews here and wonder if I went to the same restaurant as so many others did and clearly enjoyed. We DO NOT recommend. read more

Came here for a group dinner and have to say, I had a pleasant experience from start to finish mostly thanks to our server Andre! The food was amazing, I had the Chilean sea bass and it was the most delicious sea bass I've had. One of the members of my party had the steak and I did sample it and it was pretty good. It's a trendy restaurant inside of the Marriott Marquis and they have a fun video booth that you can take a video with before dinner! read more

we dined here on 12/12/24. It was one of the best meals we have had in years. our server, Alexis, was very attentive. She double checked items to make certain no allergens were present. Her recommendations were very good. The GM Mr. G Forman was very helpful. We had the tartare to start; an excellent preparation. Then we had a filet, and a portion of the Japanese Waygu. First of all, the Washington Post review of this restaurant is the biggest piece of crap ever written! We live in Florida and this is the best steak I have ever had. I am giving some stars only because the food was great. The host staff was terrible! We waited 1 hour 15 minutes with a reservation. This was because 2 tops weren't turning quick enough so they had to seat 3 and 4 tops that came after us first. What?! That is ridiculous! Our wait staff also left a lot to be desired. We waited about 15-20 before we were acknowledged after being seated. When we received our food the waiter ordered me a lobster that I didn't ask for and waiter serving to me was upset. When we received our check the lobster was still on there. After removing it, the waiter proceeded to tell my friend that she should pay the tip in cash and picked that option for her. When she said no, he hovered and watched her close out. That is so rude to watch a patron paying and try to intimidate the amount of the tip. Although the food was excellent, our steaks were cooked perfectly, I will probably never go back. Was my friends birthday and was not a pleasant experience for her. read more

Nope nope and nope. When I heard STK was coming back to DC, I was thoroughly excited. I thought of my girl nights at their old Connecticut Ave location. I am soooo disappointed about everything about this location. First there was no valet. The street parking around there is nonexistent and horrible. Next after having to park and walk blocks, I had to use the restroom but I was told there wasn't a bathroom in STK at all. The near least bathroom was about a 5-7 minute walk. Really!! Whew! I definitely needed a drink after that and it was the most weakest 22 espresso martini I ever had. I paid for my drink and left. I didn't even bother to be disappointed by the food. I won't be back again. It was just too much of a disappointment. With the prices and many competing locations of food choices in the area, this is unacceptable on any level. read more

Worst 200 dollars I've ever been forced to pay .....I would never come back here again ...even if I was homeless and starving. Service was extremely poor with 4 bartenders serving a 25 ft bar . No one knows the menu .....never told bread comes smothered in butter and blue cheese ...I was told that the 20 dollar vegetables had string beans and peas ...nope a few peas and gross broccoli. 60 steak came out raw not medium ..had to wait to get a new one after I ate my lobster . I was actually full by the time it finally came out . The female that brought me the bread without blue cheese slammed the bowl down in front of me. So for 190 bucks I filled up on bread and a lobster tail that was actually the highlight of my meal. I never ate the 16 dollar vegetables .....manager came over and was just as curt ....I got no offer to take the veggies off bill or a free dessert or something for having to wait 10 minutes for an improperly cooked steak at this " steak house". Food poisoning. 6oz. Steak, lobster tail and bourbon bacon salad. Horrible symptoms began two hours later, lasted overnight and all say so far. Alerted the manager to be safe. He said he ate the same things, same day and he was fine. Good luck folks. Please be careful. read more

Ambience of the restaurant is more reminiscent of a nightclub opposed to your normal steakhouse. We visited Saturday night (reservation) & waited 20 mins. Once seated we realized the music was extremely loud - if you are looking for an intimate experience this is not it. I couldn't hear my husband & we were sitting at a small 2 table top. Both our steaks were overcooked which was disappointing & both Oscar styles consisted of 1 piece of king crab. My steak (Spinalli) was stringy on the inside & the potato gratin was burnt & cold when brought to the table. This experience was not pleasant & nothing compared to our experience at the STK in NYC. read more

The service was great, I believe our server name was Allen. Very efficient and very patient. The ambiance was nice and the food was good but be prepared for skimpy portions. He got the lamb chops and they were a little gummy with no sear on the outside. I had the lobster pasta and it was delicious just very small. I also had the seafood tower but the Dungeness crab came as a mini ramekin of crab salad. It is indeed a stingy seafood tower but still very fresh fish. The shrimp were amazing. We did the $69 steak night. The little burgers were decent. The Caesar salad was surprisingly good. The croutons were delicious. For the entrees, the steak came out cold and was very chewy. Not that good. They charged us $10 for the peppercorn & truffle butter. LMAO. I was perplexed. He didn't tell us it was $10 and we saw it on the check. The Mac & cheese, DRY. DRYYYYY. You pick it up and it falls apart. The creamed spinach was good. We ordered tots but they were out so they let us pick our dessert of the inconvenience which is good because the 2 dessert options for steak night, apple pie and donuts... thumbs down down. The cookie was also dry. The to go bag was cute though & the service was nice. Overall, it's not worth it. Don't waste your time. Find somewhere else. I removed a star because it took us FOREVER to get our check. I e weren't the only ones waiting in our section action either. Just don't bother. read more

Go to St. Anslem or Ruth Chris's instead. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD STEAK!!!! The steak is not flavored or seasoned and we had to pay for butter on the steak as well as the seasoning. Even after paying for the butter and seasoning it still was not good. Butter itself is $13 and is not cooked into the steak but burned on top. The service was bad and the waiter was rude. You can only tip 18, 20 or 22% and you cannot tip more or less than that. The service was not even worth 15% but we wanted to do 15% to be polite and he said no that's not an option. It took him over 30 minutes to even take our orders and when we asked for a drink menu he told us they didn't have one even though we had been before and had received a drink menu. We had to ask again for the drink menu and he then reluctantly brought it out and was rude about it. He also added $15 to our bill for a wine that was out of stock and we did not receive. Lastly, the music was very loud and profane. The music progressive got louder. They play club music at a restaurant with no dance floor. Horrible experience never going back. St. Anselm and Ruth Chris instead. Do not waste your time here. read more

in town for a celebration. booked STK as we have been in STK Chicago and STK NewYork and had good experience. We show up with my wife and 80yo parents. ( son and gf on the way in cab). The front desk gal refuses to seat us. Stating we have to wait for everyone to show up. I ask nicely to be seated. She refuses To seat us. I ask firmly to be seated. she threatens to call the manager :-). he shows up and seats us. I thank him and her and she completely ignores me. horrible experience. Luckily the rest of the experience was good. Our server Angel was awesome. Food was good. The manager does not show up or even acknowledge the mishap. If you run a fairly expensive restaurant at least please get front desk staff that are polite. read more

The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

The bill is in some what of an a la cart format so try to get ALL the fees up front. Be sure to stick to the allotted timeframe so you don't have extra rental hour fees. Go with the bulb lighting! Me and my friends visited STK on 9/28 for a birthday brunch celebration reserved for 10 people. Upon arriving, they did not allow us to asking that more of are party needed to arrive first although 7/10 of us were there. After waiting for several minutes we were finally told we could be seated. Once seated we were greeted by the bartender of whom I found out was also my server. She was extremely nice but seeing as though she was doing both jobs, there were delays in our service which she is not to blame for. Once we received our food, things were missing, prepared incorrectly, and delayed. A conversation regarding our experience and a percentage was taken off but there was an item that should have been removed completely in which it was still on the bill. The assistant manager unfortunately had an attitude and very rudely described how she is not able to remove things from the bill but will make an exception. STK DC offers a trendy, lively atmosphere that leans more hip than romantic, catering to a younger crowd. The energy is high, and the vibe is modern, making it a great spot for a night out rather than an intimate dinner. Now, onto the food. The meal started strong with the **bread and butter**--soft, fluffy, warm, and undeniably delicious. For appetizers, we had the **Lil' Burgers and the Burrito**, both of which were outstanding. The Lil' Burgers, in particular, were my favorite part of the entire meal--perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. For sides, we chose the **Mac & Cheese and Sweet Corn Pudding**, both of which were delightful and complemented the meal well. The **Apple Pie** for dessert was just okay--nothing special, but it got the job done. The biggest letdown was the **Ribeye**--underwhelming and not nearly as impressive as expected. Given STK's reputation as a steakhouse, I anticipated much more. On the other hand, the **Filet** was well-received by others at the table, so perhaps that's the better choice. Overall, I'd rate STK DC a **6/10**. While some dishes were excellent, the steak--the supposed star of the show--fell short. I've been told the **STK in NYC is superior**, so I may give that location a try and see how it compares. read more

I recently dined at STK Washington DC inside the Marriott Marquis and left extremely disappointed, especially considering the price point. I ordered the 10 oz. Ribeye with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and two margaritas. When my steak arrived, it was barely warm and had no sear. After speaking with a manager, I sent it back. While waiting for the replacement, my sides sat at the bar and became cold, forcing me to ask for them to be reheated as well. What made the experience worse was the lack of any genuine apology or concern from management regarding the issues with my meal. To add to the frustration, an obviously intoxicated woman sitting nearby reached onto my plate and took one of my asparagus spears. Not only was this inappropriate, but it also created an uncomfortable and unsanitary dining experience that should have been addressed by staff. For a bill totaling approximately $225, I expected much better. The only highlights of the evening were the margaritas and the exceptional service provided by the bartender, who was professional and attentive throughout my visit. Unfortunately, the food quality, management response, and overall experience did not justify the cost. I expect much more from a restaurant with STK's reputation. I will not be returning. read more

so we ended up at this restaurant bc we met Danielle who is an employee and he highly recommended this restaurant. he told us to be sure and have Patrice make our drinks and eat supper there. he did not steer us wrong! Patrice was AMAZING, charming, beautiful and did I mention she made the best drinks?! We just told her the drinks we were considering and had her choose the drink she recommended and she hooked us up perfectly! She was adorable and we appreciated her. Now Izzy. he was our waiter. he was fantastic. he recommended suggestions to order for dinner and took care of us better than my own mother would have. he was also charming, warm and provided exceptional service. he treated me and my sister exactly how I would treat people in my home. It took 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. While someone initially offered us water, they never returned with it, which added to the growing frustration. What made things worse was watching a couple who arrived after us get served before we were even acknowledged. For a place that markets itself as upscale, the service felt disorganized and inattentive. As for the food, it didn't live up to the positive reviews. For the price, we expected more in both flavor and portion size. There were some positives. My waiter Izzy and Corina made my date nite even more of an exquisite dining experience than expected. From the minute we walked in Izzy and Corina took care of me and my date! My date and I came during Happy Hour and I did not like my table seating. I immediately asked if we could be seated else where (thinking I would probably not have my waiter eager to address my request), Izzy and COrin's coordinated and were able to seat me and my date at the perfect spot within Minutes. The dining experience continued to be top shelf by the level of attention and professionalism that was displayed... and the Food was great. Food 5/5 Honestly this was the single best steak I've ever had, was that because I shilled out for the Australian Wagyu... Maybe. But at the end of the day, I can't find any faults in any of the food I got during my stay here. Service 5/5 Don't listen to the morons who have service a low score, the staff were very attentive and considerate of us, I suppose if you're turned off by human interaction... Go get some friends. Our server was amazing and her name was Riche Ambiance 5/5 Surprisingly good hearted and casual given the price tag. A simple button down shirt and some darker clothing is all you need. The color scheme and lighting was great with a mix of white, black, violet and pink colors (although said pink may be for the upcoming cherry blossom festival). Over all, the place felt comfy and welcoming unlike some other fancy restaurants which tend to be more cold and formal. read more

Food isn't close to worth the freaking price no matter what city you're in. I really can't understand why you would charge $41 for a 6-8 ounce canned and underseasoned crab cake. I understand even less why they used .5 ounces of saffron with mustard cream that tastes nothing of mustard other than to jack the price up because honestly other than looking pretty, you added $15 to my plate for no reason. Adding $7 to a steak to dry rub or add pepper??? Who in hittlers blessed ballsack do they think they are? For the quality of the food, I'd rather hit a freaking cracker barrel. At least they don't charge for pepper. If your paying $200+ for dinner it would be nice to see and hear the person across the table from you. Not here! I was invited to STK to dine on opening night and I have to say it was a great experience, I've only been to a few steakhouses in DC and I have got to say the ambiance here is unmatched, great vibes, lighting, and decor (Which my gf loved). We ended up getting the chefs tasting menu which came with too many things to list. We enjoyed everything! Especially the proteins which had some unique flavors to them, and out of all the dipping sauces I enjoyed STK's signature sauces best and the horseradish (lmao). When it came to service we came in just before dinner time so we were extremely well taken care of, since we had so many dishes they had to come take our empty plates often and did it very timely. I recommend the steak frites. 10/10 will revisit soon. read more

Unfortunately, our experience at STK was very disappointing. We were initially seated and then asked to move after getting settled, which felt disorganized. Our party of 8 was then placed at a table clearly meant for 4-5 people, leaving little to no space for our food and making the dinner uncomfortable. The food did not meet expectations, especially considering the pricing. To make matters worse, our server wrote on the receipt what he believed his tip should be, which felt unprofessional and inappropriate. Overall, the service and dining experience did not justify the cost. I would not return or recommend this location. read more
