I will start out by saying that our waitress, Ms. P was EXCELLENT!!! When I come here, I want her every time! She was attentive, had excellent recommendations, and her vibe was great! The main entrance and the hostess stand is at the entrance that is inside the Marriott Marqui hotel, not the entrance connected to the outdoor patio seating (we made this mistake and so did several other patrons). The restaurant is well-decorated, spacious, and has lots of natural light. On our walk to the hostess stand, I noticed they had a cute private dining area (the hostess said it is available to book on their website). I came for restaurant week so I tried some items on that lunch menu ($35) and my guest tried items from their pre-fixe Lunch menu ($45). My favorite appetizer was the tuna tartare tacos and I would get that again! I didn't love the burrata (which comes with (pickled?) beets). The steaks were cooked to our preferred temperature and they have several add-ons (sauces, butters, seasonings) that you can choose for an additional charge. I also had the apple pie, which was okay. Last year, when we went to Benihana for my husband's birthday, he brought a copy of the email that gives a birthday discount. While we were there, the server gave us a flyer about the "Friends with Benefits" app. When we got home, he put the app on his phone. So...what does all this have to do with STK? They are owned by the same company as Benihana. Recently, I got an email saying I would get a discount on my birthday dinner. Sounds good, right? However, the app is in my husband's name. So...no discount for him or me. Most likely, when his birthday rolls around, I suspect he would get a discount. Despite all that, we decided that we wanted to give STK a try. We were there on a Saturday for an early dinner. The staff at the host stand asked if we wanted to sit in the happy hour area (aka "the bar") or the main dining room. We chose the latter and were put in the main dining area. We also noticed as customers trickled in, they, too, got seated in the same area. As for ambiance -- I guess it's a modern steakhouse. For example, a neon sign on the wall says "Dare to Be." The place gets loud, which can make conversation difficult As for our meal, our server got to our table in a timely fashion. She asked if we wanted something to drink. I got a mojito while my husband got a Heineken 0.0. It took quite a while for our drinks to arrive, which was somewhat annoying. As for the mojito, it was bitter. I think the bartender put too many limes in it. I have had much better ones. We decided to start with "Tuna Tartare," which consists of: "Hass avocados, taro chips, soy honey emulsion." This, surprisingly, had some kick to it. They gave only two taro chips, which was stingy. We did like the tuna and avocado. We ended up using our forks to eat most of it as the two chips weren't enough For my main course, my husband convinced me to splurge. I got the surf and turf, which consists of a 6 oz. filet and a lobster tail. It came with a generous amount of butter and a steak sauce similar to BBQ sauce. I didn't eat much of it. The filet was perfectly cooked medium rare. The lobster tail was one of the best I've had. It was tender and moist. For a side dish, we shared Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with a Parmesan crust. My husband ordered the "Ribeye Spinalis." The steak was cooked medium rare. After looking up what that cut was (a combination of the top part of a ribeye and part of a filet mignon), it turned out to be rather disappointing: it wasn't juicy or very flavorful, and I've had more tender filets. It was served with the same barbecue-like sauce, but it didn't add much to the steak. We decided to share a dessert and got the "Bag o' donuts" - 4 donut holes plus three different dipping sauces. We found the donuts hard to eat because the fork wouldn't penetrate them well. I finally got one, dipped it in caramel sauce, and it fell on the table. Hey. This place was inside of the Marriott Marquis. I made reservations for two because I didn't know if they would be packed right after work. Every STK I've been to for happy hour in other cities has been packed. I made the reservation for 5:45 because I wanted to have enough time to order twice if I wanted to. #greedy. We were seated right away and given happy hour menus. I love that they automatically give you the Happy Hour menu and not force you to ask for it. I feel like some restaurants don't want you to know it's HH. Not STK!! Okay! I will start with the good. The prices for everything except the Waguy Taco are amazing. I mean, $3 for the Crab balls that had a TON of crab is mind blowing. The tater tots are so good and crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. The Lil burger is good and they gave me more than 1 pickle on it, which is a plus! The warm garlic bread was also delicious. Now to the: could be improved. I ordered an unsweetened tea. They had no Sweet N low, which i asked for before I ordered the tea! Good thing I carry them in my purse but, coming. I don't want to use my stash. The guy bringing the food was trying to combine my stuff on the table and used his gloved hand to move my fries over. Now, I know the hand is gloved but he's touching the food tray, and all kinds of other stuff with the gloves on. Needless to say, I threw those fries away. Then, my first order of steak frites were medium well, which is cool except they for sure were prepared in advance and just sitting in the back. I didn't eat those. I ordered some fresh ones with none of the sauce and will done. Those were much better and juicer than the others. Lastly, that dog gone Wagyu Taco is embarrassing. One, one-bite Taco for $9. I do believe these used to come as a set of three before. I would have never ordered this if I knew it was ONE with one bite of meat on it. I mean, just make a regular steak taco and give the folks 3 or 4 of those for $10. Other than that, this was a good experience. 4 stars are because of the prices. I love a good steak, and STK did not disappoint! If you visit Sunday through Thursday, you can take advantage of their three-course meal for just $49 per person, which is an incredible deal. We started with the Wagyu sliders and shrimp cocktail, and both appetizers were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we each ordered the New York strip steak. I added the truffle butter to mine, and let me tell you--it was so damn good! We both chose the mac and cheese as our side, and it was creamy, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the steak. To end the meal we had donuts with dipping sauces that sent me to heaven lol. The portions were generous, and I left full with leftovers to take home. The ambiance is upscale, sexy, and inviting, with great music playing throughout the restaurant. The service was excellent, and both the dining area and bathrooms were spotless. Convenient location with the Marriott hotel. This aided with ability to get a relatively quick lunch I the hotel where I stayed and that was adjacent to the Washington Convention Center. I opted for a later lunch to stagger the schedules of our team during the conference attended. The later lunch allowed for opportunity to dine from the happy hour menu which was honored from 2:30 to 6:30; an adequate time frame for late lunch or early dinner. Had previously dined at the STK in Atlanta, and found this location to have a larger footprint. It had a larger bar with many seats, and tables near the entrance and rear. Most convention participants opted for seating at the bar for quicker service. The bar staff was attentive and received service after a brief wait. Took advantage of the large happy hour offerings and ordered the burger with truffle fries, crispy calamari and tuna tartare tacos, Combined three happy hour dishes resulted in a full meal. Two would have sufficed. I listed meal selections in order of my preferences - the burger was well made and flavorful. The calamari was good and a nice portion. I was not as impressed with the tacos or truffle fries. The tuna in the tacos was tasty, but the guacamole topping did not taste authentic. I am a connoisseur of fries and love truffle oil. These were a bit off. It may have been the preparation or need for more truffle oil. Also love guacamole, preferably hand made and fresh. The guacamole on top of the tacos resembled a spread from a packet and gave the same texture and taste. A bit off putting due to having a decent tuna base. For the discounted price, I was able to sample different items and remain within my company's lunch budget amount. We waited over 2 hours just to get our food and honestly for the price it wasn't worth it. The food isn't life changing and I personally believe you can find better at a more affordable price. You're mostly paying for the ambiance and the name brand in my opinion. I would say that our server was very nice and the music the DJ played was good. Even after the extremely long wait the manager didn't even want to give us a discount on our bill and we had to ask to be compensated and after spending $200+ the 10% compensation wasn't even worth it because everything is so expensive. Every single drink is made with those fruit puree mixes in the white bottle. I was surprised to see that. STK DC came through for Friday happy hour! A good friend and I stopped by after work, and it definitely did not disappoint. While I'm personally not a huge fan of STK for dinner, their happy hour and brunch menus are where they really shine. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the bartender was fantastic from start to finish. She was attentive, friendly, and took the time to ask what flavors and dishes we typically enjoy before making recommendations. Service like that always makes a difference. We started with the Castaway (a refreshing tequila cocktail) and an Old Fashioned before diving into the food. For bites, we ordered the short rib quesadilla , truffle fries , wagyu taco, tuna tartare taco , and wagyu meatballs. Everything was delicious, especially the truffle fries, which never disappoint. The short rib quesadilla was packed with flavor, and both tacos were excellent. My only critique would be the wagyu meatballs, which were good but could have used a little more seasoning. Also, $9 for a single taco feels a bit steep, even by DC standards. One of the unexpected highlights of the evening was the atmosphere. We ended up chatting with current and former employees who were hanging out at the bar. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, joking with us throughout the evening and even buying us a round of shots . Between the friendly crowd and the stellar bartending team, the experience felt much more personal than your typical chain steakhouse visit. The restaurant itself is much larger than I expected, with a spacious layout and a great-sized patio perfect for warmer weather. It's located inside a hotel where I've attended events before, but this was my first time visiting this STK location. If you're looking for a lively happy hour spot with solid cocktails, shareable bites, and great service, STK DC is worth a visit. I was really disappointed with my experience at STK. Given the reputation and pricing, I expected much better. Our party ordered the burrata, fried rice, steak frites, oysters, steak tartare, tacos, tequila cocktails, and an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the only items we actually enjoyed were the tacos, the fried rice, and the drinks. The tequila cocktails and espresso martini were excellent and were easily the highlight of the evening. The food, however, was a major letdown. The burrata seemed old, was firm instead of creamy, and was served without any bread or crackers, which made the dish feel incomplete. The steak frites arrived cold and lacked flavor. The oysters were not enjoyable, and we waited an unusually long time for cocktail sauce, only to initially receive two containers of vinegar. The steak tartare was also disappointing and not something we could finish. While the bartenders did a good job keeping drinks flowing and were pleasant throughout the evening, the food service was extremely slow. We wanted to speak with a manager about our experience, but never had the opportunity. Even getting the check and paying the bill took far longer than it should have. I went there for the happy hour since small bites were between $3 and $9. The food was delicious and I loved every thing we ordered. We got the tater tots ($3), short rib quesadilla ($6) which was extremely delicious, popcorn chicken ($9), and several cheeseburgers with fries ($12). The cheeseburgers come with chips but we wanted fries which were a $3 upgrade. I would've gotten chips if our server had informed us of the surcharge for fries since we didn't eat much of it at all (they were delicious though). The cheeseburgers were very good and I'd be down to come back for just the burgers. The cocktails were also $9 and we got the mojito and the strawberry guava gin drink, both were great. My friend and I visited the restaurant for a quick happy hour on a Thursday evening. The bar was full so we were seated at a table. The hostess was hardly enthused to assist, but the server was excellent. He and the kitchen staff were very patient as my friend navigated a newly found gluten allergy. We had to order a few drinks, as the bar wasn't prepared to serve all the beverages on the happy hour menu due to lack of ingredients. Once I was able to settle on the Cucumber Gimlet, it was great! No ordering entrees until everybody in the party is seated and no complimentary bread until entrees are ordered. Bread was okay, nothing addictive about it like most places with complimentary bread. My lamb chops were all well done instead of medium well and the mashed were good, but not for $21. Paying for a half scoop of butter that barely enhances the meal is questionable. It's been over 2 and 1/2 months since you committed a crime and stolen my money. I have requested and called once a month to your corporate office about $100 mistake by one of your servers. They charged me for a drink that I did not order and couldn't refund me for the transaction. Instead, they decided to delete the extra drink from the water and recharge my car the $80.. so now I have an $80 charge for correct bill and $100 charge for an incorrect bill. After dining here with a friend, we both decided that it exceeded expectations for a restaurant inside a hotel. Walk inside the grand Marriott Marquis and go left. A neon sign directs you deep into a dimly-lit, but glowing restaurant with all the gimmicks from red bull statues to more neon lights. To feed two of us, we got the lobster mac and cheese, spring rolls, steak, asparagus, bread, shrimp scampi, butter cake, and more. What stood out are the steak with the wagyu butter, lobster mac and cheese, and the fun cloud butter cake. It comes out engulfed in cotton candy that the server lights on fire revealing the cake. The cocktail list is large with standard cocktails and more creative. They have something for all people from savory to sweet. Our server Dylan was excellent! Whenever I'm in town, I usually stay at the Marriott Marquis next door, which makes STK DC the perfect (and dangerously convenient) happy hour spot. The layout is sleek and open, with just the right mix of energy and comfort, perfect whether you're catching up with friends, winding down after meetings, or flying solo at the bar. The drinks are always on point, especially that watermelon margarita. Seriously, it goes hard. The happy hour menu has a great variety of affordable bites, and everything I've tried has been solid. So this was my second time going to this location. We were seated shortly after we arrived. Our waitress a was great and attentive. I appreciated the fact that you can order from the happy hour menu even at a table. We ordered a few drinks and appetizers from the happy hour menu. The meatballs was just okay. Definitely could have used some more seasoning. Someone got the jalapeños shrimp cocktail and she said you barely taste the jalapenos. I did the oysters so they were fine. For our main course me and my Fiance shared the 28oz porterhouse with Brussels and mashed potatoes. The steak was good. Could have came out warmer and a little bit more seasoning. We both had to use the sauce and for those that eat steaks know that a great steak don't need sauce. My friend got the lamb chops that she had to send back twice. So she ended up bringing it home. She also had the corn pudding that she had to send back because it was cold. We are not the ones who send food back but when you are expecting your food to be at the right temperature you have to. My good girlfriend decided to have her birthday dinner here. I've been to the DC location for the first time recently and had a great experience, so I was excited to go again. My first time ever visiting STK was the LA location back in 2021... I say all of this to say, I've been on their mailing list for quite a while; whether it was from 2021 or my recent visit in February 2026. My friend's dinner was set for April 3, and ironically, I received an email from STK the morning of offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree. I showed the server the email (which it instructs me to) to verify that the appetizer would be honored- he said yes. I also verified that their seasonal menu that included a crab fondue appetizer would be honored- he said yes. So I ordered the crab fondue. I also ordered a filet, cooked medium. The fondue was a 6/10, but I wasn't bothered since it would later be comped. My steak came out well done, which was saddening. I did not want to cause a scene at my friend's celebration so I kept quiet. When it came time to check out, I notice the fondue was on the bill. I alerted the server who admitted to forgetting to remove it, and he mentioned he had to go show his boss. He returned saying they could not honor the email I received due to the offer expiring (mind you, I received this email the morning of dinner). It's not the cost that disappointed me, but the principle. I would not have ordered the crab fondue appetizer that I really only ordered because it was a new item. Otherwise, the restaurant was nice, classy, not too loud. The drinks were excellent and the bread was LOVELY! There didn't seem to be a dress code. The server was. This location is inside the Marriott Marquis and convention center. I came on my own after a meeting but for some odd reason I was sat at a huge table rather than a 2 top, talk about awkward. I asked to be moved which oddly seemed like a massive ask as the host has to be found which no one could. My food came out before I was moved which was frustrating because now it's getting cold. I order the side bread service which four small slices of rock hard toast came out that I can best described as large croutons. I order these items from the happy hour menu: The Wagyu tacos were delicious, but are about 2 inches big and the small slider is also good. Truffle fries are also very delicious but you get like 15 fries. Great flavor all but VERY light on portion. I forgot I ordered an old-fashioned drink and got through most my food until it finally came. Finally I had the baby Cesar salad which is on the starter side of the menu along with the croutons.....I mean bread. Cesar came with too much parmesan cheese, was very soggy and had frozen lettuce in the middle confirming this very well could have been made the day before. The food was pretty good. The service was speedy. The steak and frites were pretty good. The steak comes medium but it was a little tough for me. The fries were cold but tasted good... no one really likes cold fries. The crab and corn fritter was amazing!! Crispy and seasoned perfectly. Decor is nice, kinda like an upscale sports bar when looking at the bar area then there's general dining and rooms to host larger parties. Service was super slow even sitting at the bar. My husband took me on a special date night to try out the STK restaurant. This beautiful resturant is in the Marriott hotel! Once walking into the restaurant, you're immediately greeted by the hostess stand where you will check-in for your reservation. Someone will escort you into the heart of the place where the ambiance is ready for a wonderful date night or outing with friends. Table is set with small candle the waiter will light once you arrive. The bread provided was soft and absolutely amazing! Our starter appetizer was the ceviche! It was made to perfection and we ate every bite. I ordered the lamb chops which were flavored very well and my husband had the shrimp scampi! I've visited STK on a couple of occasions. Once for dinner and more recently for happy hour. I'll start with my review for dinner. STK has delicious steaks and great sides that really exceeded my expectations. I enjoy the wide variety of sauces and butters on the menu. They really add a little extra flavor that makes the already great steaks even more enjoyable. I give the dinner here a solid 5. I enjoyed the happy hour here as well. It was a great vibe; the music was great and the atmosphere was fun. I went on a Friday night, and the place was very busy. We were placed on a wait for about 20 minutes before we were able to be seated. I would recommend a reservation if planning to visit especially on a Friday evening. The happy hour menu has a large selection. However, the portion sizes are very small. It's designed for you to order a little of everything. We ordered around 10 items. I felt the happy hour food was fine, especially considering the low price point. The tastiest item on the HH menu was the STK* & Frites. Overall, I would rate the happy hour a 4. The value is good, but the quality of the HH food was really just okay. I would characterize STK as the fun steak house. Definitely worth a visit. read more

We have an STK at home and it's great so decided to go to the STK at the Marriott in Washington DC since it was conveniently located in the conference hotel. Service: Big mistake, first it was not busy but was still difficult to get waited on. We finally flagged someone down when two other tables who came AFTER us had already ordered. He was nice and offered to take our order. Food: Ordered the ribeye and sides which is what we order at our home STK. Big mistake, it turned out to be a tough pan fried sirloin steak. Rubbery, dry and terribly tasteless unlike the large, thick juicy portion we have at home. Not worth the $90 they charged. We went to Joe's for another dinner night and their ribeye was totally what we expected. It was worth the walk to that restaurant. So on another night, we decided to give STK another chance. Ordered the Mushroom & Truffle Tagliatelle pasta which was $63. Did not think you could screw up pasta but what we were served was a dish of Alfredo pasta. The type of pasta was not what was described (minor point), no mushrooms, no truffles or truffle taste at all you could get for much cheaper at Olive Garden. Ambiance: Since both nights were slow, the ambiance was nice except for lots of noise in the bar area which is expected. Agree with other negative reviews' descriptions which I normally leave wiggle room because it could have been bad nights for them but both times were bad so not a coincidence. I suspect good reviews are from the Bar customers. I really feel ripped off but it's done and we totally enjoyed Washington DC. Other food places were great. Happy hour menu is fantastic. We enjoyed the fried calamari and the beef tartare. The wine on happy hour is very good as well. We enjoyed the Bonanza Cab. We loved our server, but missed her name. She was wonderful and truly made our experience. The minus one star is due to our interaction with the hostesses. I irritated that we were there for a happy hour. Made it like it was a inconvenient for us to be sat. Mahalo to our server again for making our experience overall and excellent time. read more

You absolutely could not fault the food which was excellent and indeed the quality of service at this place. Simply amazing. Expect however, to pay top dollar, 21 bucks for a bowl of side is not for the faint hearted . Of course, the very fabric of the place warrants that it is extremely noisy and not for the faint hearted. Should you want a quiet dinner for two.
