    Tuna Tartare
    Susan H.

Last year, when we went to Benihana for my husband's birthday, he brought a copy of the email that gives a birthday discount. While we were there, the server gave us a flyer about the "Friends with Benefits" app. When we got home, he put the app on his phone. So...what does all this have to do with STK? They are owned by the same company as Benihana. Recently, I got an email saying I would get a discount on my birthday dinner. Sounds good, right? However, the app is in my husband's name. So...no discount for him or me. Most likely, when his birthday rolls around, I suspect he would get a discount. Despite all that, we decided that we wanted to give STK a try. We were there on a Saturday for an early dinner. The staff at the host stand asked if we wanted to sit in the happy hour area (aka "the bar") or the main dining room. We chose the latter and were put in the main dining area. We also noticed as customers trickled in, they, too, got seated in the same area. As for ambiance -- I guess it's a modern steakhouse. For example, a neon sign on the wall says "Dare to Be." The place gets loud, which can make conversation difficult As for our meal, our server got to our table in a timely fashion. She asked if we wanted something to drink. I got a mojito while my husband got a Heineken 0.0. It took quite a while for our drinks to arrive, which was somewhat annoying. As for the mojito, it was bitter. I think the bartender put too many limes in it. I have had much better ones. We decided to start with "Tuna Tartare," which consists of: "Hass avocados, taro chips, soy honey emulsion." This, surprisingly, had some kick to it. They gave only two taro chips, which was stingy. We did like the tuna and avocado. We ended up using our forks to eat most of it as the two chips weren't enough For my main course, my husband convinced me to splurge. I got the surf and turf, which consists of a 6 oz. filet and a lobster tail. It came with a generous amount of butter and a steak sauce similar to BBQ sauce. I didn't eat much of it. The filet was perfectly cooked medium rare. The lobster tail was one of the best I've had. It was tender and moist. For a side dish, we shared Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with a Parmesan crust. My husband ordered the "Ribeye Spinalis." The steak was cooked medium rare. After looking up what that cut was (a combination of the top part of a ribeye and part of a filet mignon), it turned out to be rather disappointing: it wasn't juicy or very flavorful, and I've had more tender filets. It was served with the same barbecue-like sauce, but it didn't add much to the steak. We decided to share a dessert and got the "Bag o' donuts" - 4 donut holes plus three different dipping sauces. We found the donuts hard to eat because the fork wouldn't penetrate them well. I finally got one, dipped it in caramel sauce, and it fell on the table. The restaurant does not have restrooms; they are outside the restaurant and a bit of a hike down the main corridor of the hotel. Look up for the signs.

Hey. This place was inside of the Marriott Marquis. I made reservations for two because I didn't know if they would be packed right after work. Every STK I've been to for happy hour in other cities has been packed. I made the reservation for 5:45 because I wanted to have enough time to order twice if I wanted to. #greedy. We were seated right away and given happy hour menus. I love that they automatically give you the Happy Hour menu and not force you to ask for it. I feel like some restaurants don't want you to know it's HH. Not STK!! Okay! I will start with the good. The prices for everything except the Waguy Taco are amazing. I mean, $3 for the Crab balls that had a TON of crab is mind blowing. The tater tots are so good and crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. The Lil burger is good and they gave me more than 1 pickle on it, which is a plus! The warm garlic bread was also delicious. Now to the: could be improved. I ordered an unsweetened tea. They had no Sweet N low, which i asked for before I ordered the tea! Good thing I carry them in my purse but, coming. I don't want to use my stash. The guy bringing the food was trying to combine my stuff on the table and used his gloved hand to move my fries over. Now, I know the hand is gloved but he's touching the food tray, and all kinds of other stuff with the gloves on. Needless to say, I threw those fries away. Then, my first order of steak frites were medium well, which is cool except they for sure were prepared in advance and just sitting in the back. I didn't eat those. I ordered some fresh ones with none of the sauce and will done. Those were much better and juicer than the others. Lastly, that dog gone Wagyu Taco is embarrassing. One, one-bite Taco for $9. I do believe these used to come as a set of three before. I would have never ordered this if I knew it was ONE with one bite of meat on it. I mean, just make a regular steak taco and give the folks 3 or 4 of those for $10. Other than that, this was a good experience. 4 stars are because of the prices. I'd definitely return to happy hour at STK.

I love a good steak, and STK did not disappoint! If you visit Sunday through Thursday, you can take advantage of their three-course meal for just $49 per person, which is an incredible deal. We started with the Wagyu sliders and shrimp cocktail, and both appetizers were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we each ordered the New York strip steak. I added the truffle butter to mine, and let me tell you--it was so damn good! We both chose the mac and cheese as our side, and it was creamy, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the steak. To end the meal we had donuts with dipping sauces that sent me to heaven lol. The portions were generous, and I left full with leftovers to take home. The ambiance is upscale, sexy, and inviting, with great music playing throughout the restaurant. The service was excellent, and both the dining area and bathrooms were spotless. STK is located inside the hotel, so parking isn't the best, but once you're inside, it's absolutely worth it.

Summer just got a whole lot more flavorful at STK. From the fresh and vibrant King Crab Ceviche to perfectly prepared Wagyu and Grilled Swordfish, the new summer menu is packed with mouthwatering bites. Pair it all with the refreshing Mint Condition cocktail for the perfect summer dining experience. Whether you're planning date night, happy hour, or dinner with friends, STK's new seasonal menu is one you don't want to miss.

Convenient location with the Marriott hotel. This aided with ability to get a relatively quick lunch I the hotel where I stayed and that was adjacent to the Washington Convention Center. I opted for a later lunch to stagger the schedules of our team during the conference attended. The later lunch allowed for opportunity to dine from the happy hour menu which was honored from 2:30 to 6:30; an adequate time frame for late lunch or early dinner. Had previously dined at the STK in Atlanta, and found this location to have a larger footprint. It had a larger bar with many seats, and tables near the entrance and rear. Most convention participants opted for seating at the bar for quicker service. The bar staff was attentive and received service after a brief wait. Took advantage of the large happy hour offerings and ordered the burger with truffle fries, crispy calamari and tuna tartare tacos, Combined three happy hour dishes resulted in a full meal. Two would have sufficed. I listed meal selections in order of my preferences - the burger was well made and flavorful. The calamari was good and a nice portion. I was not as impressed with the tacos or truffle fries. The tuna in the tacos was tasty, but the guacamole topping did not taste authentic. I am a connoisseur of fries and love truffle oil. These were a bit off. It may have been the preparation or need for more truffle oil. Also love guacamole, preferably hand made and fresh. The guacamole on top of the tacos resembled a spread from a packet and gave the same texture and taste. A bit off putting due to having a decent tuna base. For the discounted price, I was able to sample different items and remain within my company's lunch budget amount. Still believe that convenience of location makes STK a solid choice when not able or desirable to venture outside of the hotel.

Food was good. Service was mediocre. Filet was tender. Love how they torch butter to drip on top of the steak. If you're looking for a romantic place it looks like it would be that way until you get inside and they're blasting dance club music. I would probably not come back.

We waited over 2 hours just to get our food and honestly for the price it wasn't worth it. The food isn't life changing and I personally believe you can find better at a more affordable price. You're mostly paying for the ambiance and the name brand in my opinion. I would say that our server was very nice and the music the DJ played was good. Even after the extremely long wait the manager didn't even want to give us a discount on our bill and we had to ask to be compensated and after spending $200+ the 10% compensation wasn't even worth it because everything is so expensive. People who sat down 30+ minutes after us got their food, finished, and left before we even got our entrees.

STK DC came through for Friday happy hour! A good friend and I stopped by after work, and it definitely did not disappoint. While I'm personally not a huge fan of STK for dinner, their happy hour and brunch menus are where they really shine. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the bartender was fantastic from start to finish. She was attentive, friendly, and took the time to ask what flavors and dishes we typically enjoy before making recommendations. Service like that always makes a difference. We started with the Castaway (a refreshing tequila cocktail) and an Old Fashioned before diving into the food. For bites, we ordered the short rib quesadilla , truffle fries , wagyu taco, tuna tartare taco , and wagyu meatballs. Everything was delicious, especially the truffle fries, which never disappoint. The short rib quesadilla was packed with flavor, and both tacos were excellent. My only critique would be the wagyu meatballs, which were good but could have used a little more seasoning. Also, $9 for a single taco feels a bit steep, even by DC standards. One of the unexpected highlights of the evening was the atmosphere. We ended up chatting with current and former employees who were hanging out at the bar. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, joking with us throughout the evening and even buying us a round of shots . Between the friendly crowd and the stellar bartending team, the experience felt much more personal than your typical chain steakhouse visit. The restaurant itself is much larger than I expected, with a spacious layout and a great-sized patio perfect for warmer weather. It's located inside a hotel where I've attended events before, but this was my first time visiting this STK location. If you're looking for a lively happy hour spot with solid cocktails, shareable bites, and great service, STK DC is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a few menu items that might make your wallet do a double take.

I was really disappointed with my experience at STK. Given the reputation and pricing, I expected much better. Our party ordered the burrata, fried rice, steak frites, oysters, steak tartare, tacos, tequila cocktails, and an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the only items we actually enjoyed were the tacos, the fried rice, and the drinks. The tequila cocktails and espresso martini were excellent and were easily the highlight of the evening. The food, however, was a major letdown. The burrata seemed old, was firm instead of creamy, and was served without any bread or crackers, which made the dish feel incomplete. The steak frites arrived cold and lacked flavor. The oysters were not enjoyable, and we waited an unusually long time for cocktail sauce, only to initially receive two containers of vinegar. The steak tartare was also disappointing and not something we could finish. While the bartenders did a good job keeping drinks flowing and were pleasant throughout the evening, the food service was extremely slow. We wanted to speak with a manager about our experience, but never had the opportunity. Even getting the check and paying the bill took far longer than it should have. For a restaurant at this price point, the quality of the food and overall dining experience simply did not meet expectations. We left feeling disappointed and with no desire to return

Came to STK to try out their happy hour. It's located inside the hotel. The service was really good and the drink that I had was good as well. Happy hour food is smaller versions of what is on the larger menu and for the most part it was good. Nice atmosphere inside and there is also outdoor seating if you prefer that.

This restaurant is inside the Marriott Marquis right by the Mt Vernon convention center so evening time brings in a lot of post work traffic. I went there for the happy hour since small bites were between $3 and $9. The food was delicious and I loved every thing we ordered. We got the tater tots ($3), short rib quesadilla ($6) which was extremely delicious, popcorn chicken ($9), and several cheeseburgers with fries ($12). The cheeseburgers come with chips but we wanted fries which were a $3 upgrade. I would've gotten chips if our server had informed us of the surcharge for fries since we didn't eat much of it at all (they were delicious though). The cheeseburgers were very good and I'd be down to come back for just the burgers. The cocktails were also $9 and we got the mojito and the strawberry guava gin drink, both were great. The space was packed for happy hour and the vibe was upbeat. I'd come back for the happy hour anytime. Highly recommend!

My friend and I visited the restaurant for a quick happy hour on a Thursday evening. The bar was full so we were seated at a table. The hostess was hardly enthused to assist, but the server was excellent. He and the kitchen staff were very patient as my friend navigated a newly found gluten allergy. We had to order a few drinks, as the bar wasn't prepared to serve all the beverages on the happy hour menu due to lack of ingredients. Once I was able to settle on the Cucumber Gimlet, it was great! I also ordered Oyster on the Half Shell, Jalapeño Pickled Shrimp Cocktail and friend Mac & Cheese balls (from the World Cup event menu). Everything was as expected and quick to serve. The best part was the happy hour is beyond affordable. We were shocked at the great deals during happy hour.

I appreciate the kitchen here is open late night. I tried the potatoes gratin (huge portion) , cheesesteak eggs, crabcake, and sirloin. Everything was really good and steak was good perfectly. The atmosphere is nice and clean and the music is loud but not obnoxious.

What made this visit especially satisfying was seeing my wife finally experience the level of hospitality I had been telling her about all these years. She walked away impressed, and so did I. I originally booked Omakase room by Tadayoshi for August 15th dinner at 5:30. To my shock it turned out Omakase room is closed that day but my reservation was still active and I confirmed it as well the day before. My husband wanted to try this Omakase place for a while and I thought the day was perfect for it. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and I was taken by surprise as I didn't have any alternative plans or reservations. We first spoke with General manager at Boucherie and she kindly offered us to take a look at the menu and see if we wanted to dine there instead. I was very upset that the planned and anticipated reservation didn't work out. I said yes at first because I didn't know what else to do but we got an amazing server Revo who lightened the mood and Manager Michael was very kind to us and understanding. While dinner started not on a great note, it ended up the best outcome we could have had. Everyone we interacted with was kind and great. I would love to come back again but now specifically for Boucherie and in a much better mood. I totally understand that reservation issue is not Boucherie's responsibility and I still don't know how this all happened. But we hey made our anniversary dinner a fanatic experience. Many thanks to them and also to the sommelier. Wine list was great and we received great recommendations. Thank you, Boucherie team for everything, I was ready to start crying at the omakase room after seeing it was closed but now I will be back specifically for you and the great food. We arrived at 7:45 on a Saturday night to see if there was room for two or at least room at the bar. I wish the hostess had told us that we could wait at the bar for a table to open up, as we saw that's what many other patrons did, but she told us there was bar seating and high tops and so my husband and I went on up. We easily had our choice of two seats at the bar or a high top, and we selected a high top. After 5 minutes of no one acknowledging us, my husband and I told each other we would wait two more minutes before we would bail. Right as we were about to jump ship, a server came by and asked if we wanted menus. We said sure but it was just strange that no one greeted us, it was just "you want menus?" Lol. Another server brought us menus and asked if we would like water and a breadbasket. We said yes and after about 15 minutes, bread arrived. We chatted with the server about what drinks we should order; I ordered a French 75 and my husband ordered a special Sazerac. We also ordered the tuna carpoacio. After about 10 minutes, the server came back and to confirm if I wanted the soft side cocktail and if my husband wanted an old fashioned. We said we did not and corrected him. Then, a server tried to give our drinks to the table next to us and our server corrected him and brought steak tartare. And then he goes "oh wait, did you order this?" We said no and he asked if we wanted it because if not he had to throw it away lol. And then 5 seconds later, the tuna came. Both the tuna carpaccio and the steak tartare were delicious. But this was the entire evening: we ordered something, something else came. I ordered a glass of sparkling rose, and an espresso martini appeared on the house. We had to ask for our bill twice and when we got our bill, it was definitely someone else's. Finally, as we were preparing to go, the original server comes back and goes "here's your espresso martini." Like bro we asked you originally for the check and we are clearly leaving. Luckily, my husband and I had plenty of time before our show, it was a great atmosphere, and the food was super delicious. It was just such a comically bizarre experience and I feel like they are definitely losing money. I think we paid for half of what we ate and drank and probably ate and drank other people's food! Maybe we will go back? Maybe not lol

There's street parking and I believe valet but we found street parking fairly easily on a weekday. The ambiance is dim lit. Service was very attentive and seemed to pay attention to detail, announcing confirmations of no allergens within each dish brought to the table. Our water was filled regularly, suggestions were readily available to the many questions we had. I also thought it was a nice touch that your bagged items are taken off table and you are given a ticket without awkwardly taking up space while you maybe were still chatting or enjoying an after dinner drink or dessert. Quality of food was nice, can't recall the type of steak my brother tried I went with a ribeye and tried the octopus appetizer which was very tender. We also enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and whipped mash. Was definitely a meal that could easily be shared between 2-3 people.

Steakhouses are…read morethe favorite for networking and educational dinners in my world - and even though there's a location in NYC, I had never heard of the chain before. That being said, I was curious to see how it stacked against other steakhouse chains - so off we went. Mastro's gives off similar vibes to other steakhouses I've been to - the interior is dark, with over the top finishes and an overall masculine aesthetic. We were seated in the main dining room - it wasn't too large, though I'm not sure if there were other rooms. There were no real surprises on the menu, though I noticed they had a good selection of wagyu cuts from the US, Australia, and Japan. We decided to start with drinks and then some apps - namely, the wagyu roll, house salad, crab cake, and seafood tower. There was no question the seafood tower was the biggest showstopper. We were able to choose which seafood to put on it, and it came adorned with dry ice for that dramatic effect. To top it off, they even flashed strobe lights against it when presenting to make it extra Instagram ready. The seafood itself was delicious, and the other apps were good as well. My only critique of the apps was the house salad - they were too heavy handed with the dressing, it would have been better if it was dressed sparingly. While the wagyu was tempting, I went with the filet for my main. The beef was cooked well (not well done), and topped with an herb compound butter which really added to the meat. We also ordered sides of broccolini, lobster mashed potatoes, and lobster mac and cheese. These were all good, though I don't find the existence of lobster mash necessary; lobster mac and cheese is enough. We finished with dessert - chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate layer cake, their signature butter cake, and cheesecake. Dare I say the chocolate covered strawberries were the best? The chocolate coating was more of a spread so it didn't fall off at first bite, and it came with whipped cream mmm. It might have been because the fruit was a repreive from the relatively heavy meal, but it was a standout for me. Though the butter and chocolate cakes were also delicious I'll call a spade a spade. Service was great - they were very attentive and consistenly made sure we were taken care of. Overall, I wouldn't say Mastro's was the best steakhouse I've been to, but they hold their own. I don't know if they're on the same level as other chains, but I wouldn't be mad if circumstances found me here again in the future.

At one point, he came to our table and explained that there were other people celebrating their birthdays and that he was busy attending to them. I understand that restaurants get busy, but telling a customer that other birthday celebrations are taking priority is not appropriate. He knew it was my birthday as well and even apologized for "ruining" it by mentioning this. It was an incredibly strange way to address his lack of attentiveness. When our food arrived, the server did not promptly come to plate our food. We eventually plated it ourselves, and only afterward did he come over and say that he had been planning to come plate it for us. At that point, the service had already been missed. There were also multiple staff members assisting with service, which made the lack of coordination even more noticeable. The kitchen was quite slow as well, and the garlic mashed potatoes were cold by the time we were eating our steaks. There were also clumps of mashed potatoes left on the table, which our server picked up with his bare hands. These may sound like small details individually, but together they made the service feel surprisingly ordinary for the setting. The food itself was the highlight. The filet was very well seasoned, the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent despite the temperature issue, and the signature warm butter cake with ice cream was phenomenal. My dining companion said his filet was the best filet he had ever had. I also found the dress-code enforcement somewhat inconsistent. I had made an effort to dress appropriately for the occasion, and my dining companion did as well, but I noticed another guest being admitted in denim shorts. My dining companion independently commented on how people were dressed, so this wasn't something I was looking for--it was simply noticeable. Ultimately, I would return for the food, but I hope the service is substantially better next time. This was my birthday dinner, and unfortunately the service did not make the occasion feel particularly special.

I did wish they gave a little more time between the bread/salad course and the main course, since I didn't have enough time to finish my salad. The steak is definitely very low quality -- there were so many pieces that were too tough for me to even cut, let alone eat. Since they give you an extra serving, I had enough steak to eat, but it just felt like such a waste to have this giant pile of inedible steak on my plate. I had an opportunity to introduce some and reacquaint others with why OCEAN PRIME is one of the best restaurants for service, food, and cocktails. When we arrived, not only did we have an amazing greeting from staff who gave us every impression that we were the most important people in the restaurant. Our server was beyond top-notch. Tiana set the standard for how a server should engage thoughtfully and helpfully. We had the iconic berries and bubbles, black, orchid cocktails, glasses of wine, and, of course, the goat cheese ravioli. For main entrées, we had an amazing special of lobster and scallop risotto, and Ribeye steaks, both Oscar-style and plain. Our side items were the jalapeño, gratin, potatoes, lobster, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The pace of service was perfect. We had plenty of time to enjoy the cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The food came out extremely well seasoned, hot, and to everyone's liking. The general manager, Tim, took time to come by the table to make sure everything was going well and really put the icing on the cake by ensuring our entire experience lived up to the Cameron Mitchell brand. Truly, a night to remember
