I was really disappointed with my experience at STK. Given the reputation and pricing, I expected much better. Our party ordered the burrata, fried rice, steak frites, oysters, steak tartare, tacos, tequila cocktails, and an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the only items we actually enjoyed were the tacos, the fried rice, and the drinks. The tequila cocktails and espresso martini were excellent and were easily the highlight of the evening. The food, however, was a major letdown. The burrata seemed old, was firm instead of creamy, and was served without any bread or crackers, which made the dish feel incomplete. The steak frites arrived cold and lacked flavor. The oysters were not enjoyable, and we waited an unusually long time for cocktail sauce, only to initially receive two containers of vinegar. The steak tartare was also disappointing and not something we could finish. While the bartenders did a good job keeping drinks flowing and were pleasant throughout the evening, the food service was extremely slow. We wanted to speak with a manager about our experience, but never had the opportunity. Even getting the check and paying the bill took far longer than it should have. For a restaurant at this price point, the quality of the food and overall dining experience simply did not meet expectations. We left feeling disappointed and with no desire to return

My friend and I visited the restaurant for a quick happy hour on a Thursday evening. The bar was full so we were seated at a table. The hostess was hardly enthused to assist, but the server was excellent. He and the kitchen staff were very patient as my friend navigated a newly found gluten allergy. We had to order a few drinks, as the bar wasn't prepared to serve all the beverages on the happy hour menu due to lack of ingredients. Once I was able to settle on the Cucumber Gimlet, it was great! I also ordered Oyster on the Half Shell, Jalapeño Pickled Shrimp Cocktail and friend Mac & Cheese balls (from the World Cup event menu). Everything was as expected and quick to serve. The best part was the happy hour is beyond affordable. We were shocked at the great deals during happy hour.

I appreciate the kitchen here is open late night. I tried the potatoes gratin (huge portion) , cheesesteak eggs, crabcake, and sirloin. Everything was really good and steak was good perfectly. The atmosphere is nice and clean and the music is loud but not obnoxious.

Came to STK to try out their happy hour. It's located inside the hotel. The service was really good and the drink that I had was good as well. Happy hour food is smaller versions of what is on the larger menu and for the most part it was good. Nice atmosphere inside and there is also outdoor seating if you prefer that.

This restaurant is inside the Marriott Marquis right by the Mt Vernon convention center so evening time brings in a lot of post work traffic. I went there for the happy hour since small bites were between $3 and $9. The food was delicious and I loved every thing we ordered. We got the tater tots ($3), short rib quesadilla ($6) which was extremely delicious, popcorn chicken ($9), and several cheeseburgers with fries ($12). The cheeseburgers come with chips but we wanted fries which were a $3 upgrade. I would've gotten chips if our server had informed us of the surcharge for fries since we didn't eat much of it at all (they were delicious though). The cheeseburgers were very good and I'd be down to come back for just the burgers. The cocktails were also $9 and we got the mojito and the strawberry guava gin drink, both were great. The space was packed for happy hour and the vibe was upbeat. I'd come back for the happy hour anytime. Highly recommend!

Jamil was EXCELLENT!!! Definitely will ask for him when we return. HH $9 cocktails and $3 crab and corn fritters was the best. Surprised at the size of the salad and getting 4 cocktail shrimp. Order way more food than we needed but it was all good. Highly recommend to get the $49 dinner while it lasts.

Happy hour here is such a vibe. First of all, it's hard to even find a happy hour in DC these days that's halfway decent and much less one that starts at 2:30 and is literally every day! I've been to this STK several times before but I came recently and was reminded of how great it is here. Yesterday I met up with some friends and everyone was really impressed with the happy hour deals and the service provided by the entire staff, but in particularly Dione and Brandon. Kudos to them! My favorite drink was "Dragon's flare" and my favorite apps were the wagyu meatballs and short rib quesadilla. I'll be back sooner than later!

Service is great, but overall experience is definitely overhyped when you can eat somewhere with similar foods/price with much better tasting for all things vs just one. We were promptly seated for our reservation, though there is a lot of emphasis on mandatory steps in order to dine there. No ordering entrees until everybody in the party is seated and no complimentary bread until entrees are ordered. Bread was okay, nothing addictive about it like most places with complimentary bread. My lamb chops were all well done instead of medium well and the mashed were good, but not for $21. Paying for a half scoop of butter that barely enhances the meal is questionable. I did enjoy the unchained passion drink -- very sweet! Our waiter, Dylan, was attentive and was good at giving descriptions and recommendations. I enjoyed the DJ + music not being too loud for conversation.

After dining here with a friend, we both decided that it exceeded expectations for a restaurant inside a hotel. Walk inside the grand Marriott Marquis and go left. A neon sign directs you deep into a dimly-lit, but glowing restaurant with all the gimmicks from red bull statues to more neon lights. To feed two of us, we got the lobster mac and cheese, spring rolls, steak, asparagus, bread, shrimp scampi, butter cake, and more. What stood out are the steak with the wagyu butter, lobster mac and cheese, and the fun cloud butter cake. It comes out engulfed in cotton candy that the server lights on fire revealing the cake. The cocktail list is large with standard cocktails and more creative. They have something for all people from savory to sweet. Our server Dylan was excellent! All of his recommendations were spot on!

My good girlfriend decided to have her birthday dinner here. I've been to the DC location for the first time recently and had a great experience, so I was excited to go again. My first time ever visiting STK was the LA location back in 2021... I say all of this to say, I've been on their mailing list for quite a while; whether it was from 2021 or my recent visit in February 2026. My friend's dinner was set for April 3, and ironically, I received an email from STK the morning of offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree. I showed the server the email (which it instructs me to) to verify that the appetizer would be honored- he said yes. I also verified that their seasonal menu that included a crab fondue appetizer would be honored- he said yes. So I ordered the crab fondue. I also ordered a filet, cooked medium. The fondue was a 6/10, but I wasn't bothered since it would later be comped. My steak came out well done, which was saddening. I did not want to cause a scene at my friend's celebration so I kept quiet. When it came time to check out, I notice the fondue was on the bill. I alerted the server who admitted to forgetting to remove it, and he mentioned he had to go show his boss. He returned saying they could not honor the email I received due to the offer expiring (mind you, I received this email the morning of dinner). It's not the cost that disappointed me, but the principle. I would not have ordered the crab fondue appetizer that I really only ordered because it was a new item. Otherwise, the restaurant was nice, classy, not too loud. The drinks were excellent and the bread was LOVELY! There didn't seem to be a dress code. The server was. Sweetheart, although the incident with not honoring their promise and the overcooked steak left a major smear on my experience. It was not about me last night though, and my friend really enjoyed her birthday dinner :)

The food was pretty good. The service was speedy. The steak and frites were pretty good. The steak comes medium but it was a little tough for me. The fries were cold but tasted good... no one really likes cold fries. The crab and corn fritter was amazing!! Crispy and seasoned perfectly. The meatballs were a little too mushy, they were not firm. The sauce was great. Not pictured*** The Short rib quesadilla it was good just a little greasy. I had a glass of cabernet from the happy hour menu but it ended up not being a happy hour price.

I was craving butter cake and found that they now have butter cake on the menu!!! We came here and I was ecstatic. It tasted so good and we ate every last bit. The fruit was a healthy twist and the cotton candy was a fun addition. Just came for dessert. Served worked out the seating to satisfy me as best he could. And, the white decor was very chic. My husband took me on a special date night to try out the STK restaurant. This beautiful resturant is in the Marriott hotel! Once walking into the restaurant, you're immediately greeted by the hostess stand where you will check-in for your reservation. Someone will escort you into the heart of the place where the ambiance is ready for a wonderful date night or outing with friends. Table is set with small candle the waiter will light once you arrive. The bread provided was soft and absolutely amazing! Our starter appetizer was the ceviche! It was made to perfection and we ate every bite. I ordered the lamb chops which were flavored very well and my husband had the shrimp scampi! The shrimp were jumbo and we both took home left overs since they were large plates. Definitely recommend STK for a wonderful date night experience!

STK Steak is an overrated Apple Bees!!!! The ribeye tasted like it came from a chain restaurant like Apple Bees. I am inclined to say that Apple Bees may taste better It was cold and bland!!! The "crab and steak fried rice " was cold and tasteless with a big as cold fried egg laying on top of the rice!! The mushrooms were cold! The cute bread they bring out was cold!!!! The people dining with us shared the same sentiments!!! The calamari was okay! The bread pudding was mediocre! The drinks were made with cheap mixes!! The oysters were fantastic ‍!!! I heard mixed reviews about the place but carried my hard head behind right on in there!!! I will NEVER go back and I am sure they don't care!!! Also, the manager has a smart azz mouth. It was majority young black people in there so I am sure he is use to talking to people flippantly!! It's over priced for the lack of taste in my opinion!!! I wish I could say the quality of the food matched the level of enthusiasm by our server for her menu offerings. Tuna Tartare app was tasty but the Calamari and lil brgrs average. Salmon entree flavor and presentation good but overcooked as were all 4 steak dinners. Rack of lamb perfect temp but lacking flavor. Lobsters had consistency of mashed potatoes. Bag O Donuts dessert is a don't. Dunkin' holes are far superior. The dance club vibe, decor and bouncer elevated the steakhouse experience but the food is a hard no. Look elsewhere in DC to spend $$$$ on a great steak.....it's not at STK. read more

Made a reservation to experience fine dining with my group of friends to celebrate birthdays. We are certainly accustomed to dining in the finest of restaurants and experiencing superior customer service with phenomenal food that we can highly recommend to others. Well this was the polar opposite!!!! After arriving fifteen minutes prior to our reservation and being seated five minutes after that, there were very few patrons in the establishment upon our arrival. However, one would've thought that we arrived with a wait time of three hours as it took one hour and fifteen minutes from our reservation time for us to even receive our drinks. We were a party of seven and only four of us ordered drinks. We placed our food order at the same time as the drink order, remember we were seated at 11:50, received drinks at 1:15, only part of the party received some of what they ordered as appetizers or entrees at 1:55, all of which was cold. In the midst of all of this we were being told your food is being plated, your food will be on the table in two minutes, everything is on the way. All lies to appease us. Extremely poor planning on the part of management as there were not enough servers to accommodate the amount of patrons due to events taking place in DC over the weekend! While STK claims to never have that many customers on a Saturday that early in the day, provisions should have been made considering the events and the sheer number of people in the city! It is appalling that such a supposedly high end restaurant would be so ill prepared with bottom level service delivery and food that isn't fit to serve anyone at all. We ended up leaving frustrated, still hungry and refusing the cold food that we were finally served after sitting there for two hours! Trust that we will never again patronize nor recommend this establishment to anyone under any circumstances! Pathetic and unacceptable! read more

I tried this location a week or so ago for their weekend happy hour. It starts at 3 and w. We got there at around 3:30-4 and the restaurant was packed. We were able to snag seats at the bar and waited at least 15 minutes with no acknowledgment from the bar tenders. One woman behind the bar acted busy and was literally doing nothing. The other guy there was quite attentive to the 2 young ladies seated next to us but still not acknowledgment to me and my friend. A guy then comes and sits by me and is immediately asked what he'd like to drink and places a food order. We then had to yell excuse me and tell the guy behind the bar we are ready to then he says what would we like. We order everything and then have to point out that our area needs to be cleaned from the previous guest who were sitting there. Our drink comes and it's okay not bad but not the best. We order 2 of the Happy hour sliders with truffle fries. One set of the fries comes out hot and truffled the other set is cold and plain. We also order the popcorn chicken that was burnt to a crisp. Mind you a runner from the back bought our food out. At that point we were never checked on again even though we were sitting at the Bar! It's like we were invisible. We had to call out again just to try and pay. Then our initial bar tender comes over and asks how was it. We said it wasn't the best and that we tried to say something but none of you checked on us. To then all he replied is "Oh" and printed the bill. At this point we were over being in this establishment and just laid our cards down to pay and had to wait another 10 minutes for them to be collected. He then picks them up and disappears for another 5-10 minutes. Comes back with nothing removed from the bill so what was the hold up? We just sign and leave. And have been monitoring our cards for fraudulent activity ever since being that it was quite odd for him to take off with our cards when the POS is right behind the bar with them. I've been to STK in NY and Vegas and had a nice time. This location however was not a good experience for me and my friend. Will not be returning. There are far better steakhouses in the area offering better service and quality food anyway. read more

returned for the bar/ HH and it was great. the HH food is probably the cheapest I have seen in DC and it was decent quality. the 1/2 off drinks was also nice. our bartender was a cool guy who made our drinks to what we wanted. I asked for something less sweet and he was quick to offer up something that not only hit the taste notes but was solid. Order beef tartare and wagyu meatballs -- each made well and delivered in a timely manner. Happy hour is solid, but i wouldnt go for a sit down meal read more

A group of us had a birthday dinner celebration at the D.C. venue. The service was outstanding, but the steak was terrible. I expected a superior cut of steak from a renowned steak house and that was not to be. I have has better steaks at Outback for 1/4 of the price of this steak. The ribeye filet was very tough. At some point the manager came by our table and asked how things were. I told him of my disappointment in the toughness of my steak. He said he would look into it and I never saw him again. Apparently, one is paying for the atmosphere of this place and not the quality of the beef. read more

Not worth the price at all! I've had a better steak at places that cost a fraction. Service and ambiance is nice, but the food isn't worth it 249 plus tip for a crab cake, a steak and 2 sides. The steak barely seasoned and the mashed potatoes were very bland. read more

The food quality for my takeout meal was terrible! Food presentation was bad. The container leaked. The food did not match the advertisement and this was the Thanksgiving special that they advertised! I was told the situation would be handled and I would have someone reach out to me from management but apparently they are to busy to issue a refund in over a month! I do not recommend. We visited STK for dinner on our second night in town from Florida. I was nervous about going since I was also bringing my pre-teen daughter and 3 month old infant, but the staff and service was very accommodating, plus we came on a Thursday night so it wasn't too busy. My pre-teen loved the ambiance--she commented on the "pink fire" lol and we loved the music. Our server Obed was very friendly and attentive. I had the Unchained Passion cocktail, which was so good! I tasted the Cucumber Stiletto and wished I had also got that drink. It was sweet, which one of the people in my party did not care for, but I'm a fan of sweet cocktails. The Braised Beef Short Rib was not as tender as I was hoping it would be, but it was still good. Other dishes our party had was steak (of course), truffle fries, mashed potatoes, and Brussel Sprouts. We did not like the mashed potatoes at all, but everything else was very tasty. I can't forget about the bread that was served. It was melt-in-your-mouth good! Based on other reviews here on Yelp and other social media platforms, I came with low expectations of food and service, but left very satisfied! Everyone from the hostess to the servers were friendly and nice and we even had a manager come by to check on us to make sure we were good and taken care of. Very pricey, as our party of 5 came out to a total of over $700, but that wasn't surprising at all. I would certainly come back with family, but would also like to check it out for date night or girls night out during Happy Hour because the menu and prices look amazing. read more

STK has a young atmosphere, with music and a video booth when you walk in. Our meal started out with drinks. I had the not your daddy's old fashioned. It was delicious. First time visitor here. Two positive points: our waiter Brian was very nice and my dish was fairly tasty - although it was served cold. Other than that this place leaves a lot to be desired, especially given the prices. First, I was among a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 kids. It was very apparent that the space was a cocktail table so we asked to be moved. The head hostess was extremely unwilling to accommodate but eventually acquiesced. Second there was an extremely loud party that proceeded to party across the entire restaurant, encroaching on diner's space. All of the staff watched but none were willing to say anything. The manager finally appeared and assured that they are leaving soon (heavy sigh). Third, our table was infested with gnats. Nothing more to say about that...just bizarre. I will not return here much less recommend. For this price point there are much better restaurants in DC. Update: Awesome AI generated response...a quick scroll thru other reviews revealed the exact same response. I never mentioned their bathroom. Please do better. read more

The food was terrible we were served a Ribeye, Crab Cakes and Salmon. The ribeye wasn't even what we ordered they put in a well done and that's not what we asked for. We also ordered Fries and they brung out truffle Fries. We know how the crab cakes looked and they kept trying to say that's how they're supposed to. My wife and I walked out after a few minutes, so I can't comment on the food. The ratchet hostess wouldn't sit my wife because I was delayed a few minutes parking the car. When we did get into the dining room, the table was right in the path of other guests and staff. Very noisy with house music, so having any kind of conversation was out of the question. For the prices being charged on the menu; I expected the experience not to come off so cheap. STK DC is a $15 experience for a $200+ bill with extremely condescending service, overpriced food on an underdeveloped menu, and a staff that thinks it can serve a mostly black clientele without actually respecting black people. Not only did we have to make our requests for plates, forks, and table bread multiple times before receiving it, but when we did receive the food it was inexplicably plain, unseasoned, and was frankly an unsophisticated menu posing as a five-star dining experience. To top it off, there were gnats throughout the restaurant and there isn't a bathroom for customers within the establishment - you have to walk quite a distance through a hotel for a simple accommodation. While I was willing to overlook these flaws initially, it was only followed by deplorable service after getting my steak temperature wrong. I ordered a medium rare steak, as I always do, and received a medium well cook. I asked to send it back and the waiter told me to check again to which I said I took a bite and it's overcooked. He then doubled down and said I didn't cut it in the middle and the purple lighting makes the steak look a different color. I asked him to watch me saw into the overcooked steak himself. He went to his manager and then came back a second time to ask me what I meant by medium rare. As if I'm an uninformed customer who doesn't know what she was asking for. I said again, medium rare. I complained to the manager, a white woman, who then said a lot of the clientele (most of all the patrons were black) don't know what they mean by medium rare when they order so they ask the waiters to double check. I was beyond offended at this point. The level of condescension for a mistake their kitchen clearly made was beyond me. The chef comes out, gives me another steak, asks me to cut into it and then repeats the same sorry excuse about the lighting after the waiter had clearly already confirmed the steak was multiple temperatures overdone. I would never set foot in that establishment again. I advise anyone, especially people of color, thinking of going to this restaurant to take their money elsewhere. Even if the service was stellar - the food was cheesecake factory-esque costuming under Michelin star pricing. Never again. read more

Just went here May 20 2024 for my birthday dinner. The ambience of the restaurant was ok and it was aesthetically pleasing. However, they did have a dj and the music was so loud we had to keep relaying what the server said to each other around the table. The night started off good but unfortunately didn't stay there. We were a party of 4 and ordered appetizers and drinks. Those items came quickly and everything went downhill after that. It took forever for our dinners to start to come out. My husband and I got our food but our guests didn't. I requested my lamb medium but it was well done. The server came before i cut into them and we asked about the rest of the food. She said it's on the tray and should be right out. Right out meant another 15 mins and a meal was still missing. When she finally came back to the table we asked for a manager and informed that the 2 lamb orders were both overcooked. She took the 2 plates and never apologized. While waiting for the recooks, the last meal finally came. Our 2 lamb entrees come back out and they're RAW. At this point, I don't have it in me to wait or try again. We ask for the manager again and inform her that they're way undercooked this time. She says but do you still want them and we both said no. Again, she doesn't apologize. She just takes the plates and walks off. The server was very apologetic and even came back with great energy to sing happy birthday. But the manager, she needs to be retrained. Customer service was terrible on her end. We saw her earlier in the night and assumed she was another customer from the way she was dressed. We spent over $600 to be tortured for my birthday. read more

Me and my friends visited STK on 9/28 for a birthday brunch celebration reserved for 10 people. Upon arriving, they did not allow us to asking that more of are party needed to arrive first although 7/10 of us were there. After waiting for several minutes we were finally told we could be seated. Once seated we were greeted by the bartender of whom I found out was also my server. She was extremely nice but seeing as though she was doing both jobs, there were delays in our service which she is not to blame for. Once we received our food, things were missing, prepared incorrectly, and delayed. A conversation regarding our experience and a percentage was taken off but there was an item that should have been removed completely in which it was still on the bill. The assistant manager unfortunately had an attitude and very rudely described how she is not able to remove things from the bill but will make an exception. Her attitude was horrible and could have ruined our brunch. To Ana (I believe that was her name), our bartender- I'd like to say thank you and great job. I would advise some leadership training and coaching for the assistant manager and training to the cook staff although the chef was extremely nice and apologized for the mix up. 2 stars are for aesthetics and the bartender :) read more

The meal started strong with the **bread and butter**--soft, fluffy, warm, and undeniably delicious. For appetizers, we had the **Lil' Burgers and the Burrito**, both of which were outstanding. The Lil' Burgers, in particular, were my favorite part of the entire meal--perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. For sides, we chose the **Mac & Cheese and Sweet Corn Pudding**, both of which were delightful and complemented the meal well. The **Apple Pie** for dessert was just okay--nothing special, but it got the job done. The biggest letdown was the **Ribeye**--underwhelming and not nearly as impressive as expected. Given STK's reputation as a steakhouse, I anticipated much more. On the other hand, the **Filet** was well-received by others at the table, so perhaps that's the better choice. Overall, I'd rate STK DC a **6/10**. While some dishes were excellent, the steak--the supposed star of the show--fell short. I've been told the **STK in NYC is superior**, so I may give that location a try and see how it compares. read more

I recently dined at STK Washington DC inside the Marriott Marquis and left extremely disappointed, especially considering the price point. I ordered the 10 oz. Ribeye with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and two margaritas. When my steak arrived, it was barely warm and had no sear. After speaking with a manager, I sent it back. While waiting for the replacement, my sides sat at the bar and became cold, forcing me to ask for them to be reheated as well. What made the experience worse was the lack of any genuine apology or concern from management regarding the issues with my meal. To add to the frustration, an obviously intoxicated woman sitting nearby reached onto my plate and took one of my asparagus spears. Not only was this inappropriate, but it also created an uncomfortable and unsanitary dining experience that should have been addressed by staff. For a bill totaling approximately $225, I expected much better. The only highlights of the evening were the margaritas and the exceptional service provided by the bartender, who was professional and attentive throughout my visit. Unfortunately, the food quality, management response, and overall experience did not justify the cost. I expect much more from a restaurant with STK's reputation. I will not be returning. read more

My date and I came during Happy Hour and I did not like my table seating. Food 5/5 Honestly this was the single best steak I've ever had, was that because I shilled out for the Australian Wagyu... Maybe. But at the end of the day, I can't find any faults in any of the food I got during my stay here. Service 5/5 Don't listen to the morons who have service a low score, the staff were very attentive and considerate of us, I suppose if you're turned off by human interaction... Go get some friends. Our server was amazing and her name was Riche Ambiance 5/5 Surprisingly good hearted and casual given the price tag. A simple button down shirt and some darker clothing is all you need. The color scheme and lighting was great with a mix of white, black, violet and pink colors (although said pink may be for the upcoming cherry blossom festival). Food isn't close to worth the freaking price no matter what city you're in. I really can't understand why you would charge $41 for a 6-8 ounce canned and underseasoned crab cake. I understand even less why they used .5 ounces of saffron with mustard cream that tastes nothing of mustard other than to jack the price up because honestly other than looking pretty, you added $15 to my plate for no reason. Adding $7 to a steak to dry rub or add pepper??? Who in hittlers blessed ballsack do they think they are? For the quality of the food, I'd rather hit a freaking cracker barrel. At least they don't charge for pepper. If your paying $200+ for dinner it would be nice to see and hear the person across the table from you. Not here! I was invited to STK to dine on opening night and I have to say it was a great experience, I've only been to a few steakhouses in DC and I have got to say the ambiance here is unmatched, great vibes, lighting, and decor (Which my gf loved). We ended up getting the chefs tasting menu which came with too many things to list. We enjoyed everything! Especially the proteins which had some unique flavors to them, and out of all the dipping sauces I enjoyed STK's signature sauces best and the horseradish (lmao). When it came to service we came in just before dinner time so we were extremely well taken care of, since we had so many dishes they had to come take our empty plates often and did it very timely. I recommend the steak frites. 10/10 will revisit soon. read more

Unfortunately, our experience at STK was very disappointing. We were initially seated and then asked to move after getting settled, which felt disorganized. Our party of 8 was then placed at a table clearly meant for 4-5 people, leaving little to no space for our food and making the dinner uncomfortable. The food did not meet expectations, especially considering the pricing. To make matters worse, our server wrote on the receipt what he believed his tip should be, which felt unprofessional and inappropriate.
