I will start out by saying that our waitress, Ms. P was EXCELLENT!!! When I come here, I want her every time! She was attentive, had excellent recommendations, and her vibe was great! The main entrance and the hostess stand is at the entrance that is inside the Marriott Marqui hotel, not the entrance connected to the outdoor patio seating (we made this mistake and so did several other patrons). The restaurant is well-decorated, spacious, and has lots of natural light. On our walk to the hostess stand, I noticed they had a cute private dining area (the hostess said it is available to book on their website). I came for restaurant week so I tried some items on that lunch menu ($35) and my guest tried items from their pre-fixe Lunch menu ($45). My favorite appetizer was the tuna tartare tacos and I would get that again! I didn't love the burrata (which comes with (pickled?) beets). The steaks were cooked to our preferred temperature and they have several add-ons (sauces, butters, seasonings) that you can choose for an additional charge. I also had the apple pie, which was okay. The bathroom is in the lobby of the hotel, which was odd. But, everything else was good. I'll be back!

Last year, when we went to Benihana for my husband's birthday, he brought a copy of the email that gives a birthday discount. While we were there, the server gave us a flyer about the "Friends with Benefits" app. When we got home, he put the app on his phone. So...what does all this have to do with STK? They are owned by the same company as Benihana. Recently, I got an email saying I would get a discount on my birthday dinner. Sounds good, right? However, the app is in my husband's name. So...no discount for him or me. Most likely, when his birthday rolls around, I suspect he would get a discount. Despite all that, we decided that we wanted to give STK a try. We were there on a Saturday for an early dinner. The staff at the host stand asked if we wanted to sit in the happy hour area (aka "the bar") or the main dining room. We chose the latter and were put in the main dining area. We also noticed as customers trickled in, they, too, got seated in the same area. As for ambiance -- I guess it's a modern steakhouse. For example, a neon sign on the wall says "Dare to Be." The place gets loud, which can make conversation difficult As for our meal, our server got to our table in a timely fashion. She asked if we wanted something to drink. I got a mojito while my husband got a Heineken 0.0. It took quite a while for our drinks to arrive, which was somewhat annoying. As for the mojito, it was bitter. I think the bartender put too many limes in it. I have had much better ones. We decided to start with "Tuna Tartare," which consists of: "Hass avocados, taro chips, soy honey emulsion." This, surprisingly, had some kick to it. They gave only two taro chips, which was stingy. We did like the tuna and avocado. We ended up using our forks to eat most of it as the two chips weren't enough For my main course, my husband convinced me to splurge. I got the surf and turf, which consists of a 6 oz. filet and a lobster tail. It came with a generous amount of butter and a steak sauce similar to BBQ sauce. I didn't eat much of it. The filet was perfectly cooked medium rare. The lobster tail was one of the best I've had. It was tender and moist. For a side dish, we shared Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with a Parmesan crust. My husband ordered the "Ribeye Spinalis." The steak was cooked medium rare. After looking up what that cut was (a combination of the top part of a ribeye and part of a filet mignon), it turned out to be rather disappointing: it wasn't juicy or very flavorful, and I've had more tender filets. It was served with the same barbecue-like sauce, but it didn't add much to the steak. We decided to share a dessert and got the "Bag o' donuts" - 4 donut holes plus three different dipping sauces. We found the donuts hard to eat because the fork wouldn't penetrate them well. I finally got one, dipped it in caramel sauce, and it fell on the table. The restaurant does not have restrooms; they are outside the restaurant and a bit of a hike down the main corridor of the hotel. Look up for the signs.

Hey. This place was inside of the Marriott Marquis. I made reservations for two because I didn't know if they would be packed right after work. Every STK I've been to for happy hour in other cities has been packed. I made the reservation for 5:45 because I wanted to have enough time to order twice if I wanted to. #greedy. We were seated right away and given happy hour menus. I love that they automatically give you the Happy Hour menu and not force you to ask for it. I feel like some restaurants don't want you to know it's HH. Not STK!! Okay! I will start with the good. The prices for everything except the Waguy Taco are amazing. I mean, $3 for the Crab balls that had a TON of crab is mind blowing. The tater tots are so good and crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. The Lil burger is good and they gave me more than 1 pickle on it, which is a plus! The warm garlic bread was also delicious. Now to the: could be improved. I ordered an unsweetened tea. They had no Sweet N low, which i asked for before I ordered the tea! Good thing I carry them in my purse but, coming. I don't want to use my stash. The guy bringing the food was trying to combine my stuff on the table and used his gloved hand to move my fries over. Now, I know the hand is gloved but he's touching the food tray, and all kinds of other stuff with the gloves on. Needless to say, I threw those fries away. Then, my first order of steak frites were medium well, which is cool except they for sure were prepared in advance and just sitting in the back. I didn't eat those. I ordered some fresh ones with none of the sauce and will done. Those were much better and juicer than the others. Lastly, that dog gone Wagyu Taco is embarrassing. One, one-bite Taco for $9. I do believe these used to come as a set of three before. I would have never ordered this if I knew it was ONE with one bite of meat on it. I mean, just make a regular steak taco and give the folks 3 or 4 of those for $10. Other than that, this was a good experience. 4 stars are because of the prices. I'd definitely return to happy hour at STK.

I love a good steak, and STK did not disappoint! If you visit Sunday through Thursday, you can take advantage of their three-course meal for just $49 per person, which is an incredible deal. We started with the Wagyu sliders and shrimp cocktail, and both appetizers were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we each ordered the New York strip steak. I added the truffle butter to mine, and let me tell you--it was so damn good! We both chose the mac and cheese as our side, and it was creamy, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the steak. To end the meal we had donuts with dipping sauces that sent me to heaven lol. The portions were generous, and I left full with leftovers to take home. The ambiance is upscale, sexy, and inviting, with great music playing throughout the restaurant. The service was excellent, and both the dining area and bathrooms were spotless. STK is located inside the hotel, so parking isn't the best, but once you're inside, it's absolutely worth it.

Came here for restaurant week and was completely bamboozled by the pricing. The dinner was supposed to be $65 but after all the ridiculous add ons, my check was $150!! The food itself was really good but they lost a star solely for the false advertising. Additionally, the server was so incredibly annoying and pushed the lobster butter on me without telling me that the butter was an additional $12. The whole trip there i was annoyed but again, the food was good. Vibes were fine but they did have a dj coming on a Tuesday night at 8pm, which was weird to me. So just know youre gonna be spending more than expected if you go.

Convenient location with the Marriott hotel. This aided with ability to get a relatively quick lunch I the hotel where I stayed and that was adjacent to the Washington Convention Center. I opted for a later lunch to stagger the schedules of our team during the conference attended. The later lunch allowed for opportunity to dine from the happy hour menu which was honored from 2:30 to 6:30; an adequate time frame for late lunch or early dinner. Had previously dined at the STK in Atlanta, and found this location to have a larger footprint. It had a larger bar with many seats, and tables near the entrance and rear. Most convention participants opted for seating at the bar for quicker service. The bar staff was attentive and received service after a brief wait. Took advantage of the large happy hour offerings and ordered the burger with truffle fries, crispy calamari and tuna tartare tacos, Combined three happy hour dishes resulted in a full meal. Two would have sufficed. I listed meal selections in order of my preferences - the burger was well made and flavorful. The calamari was good and a nice portion. I was not as impressed with the tacos or truffle fries. The tuna in the tacos was tasty, but the guacamole topping did not taste authentic. I am a connoisseur of fries and love truffle oil. These were a bit off. It may have been the preparation or need for more truffle oil. Also love guacamole, preferably hand made and fresh. The guacamole on top of the tacos resembled a spread from a packet and gave the same texture and taste. A bit off putting due to having a decent tuna base. For the discounted price, I was able to sample different items and remain within my company's lunch budget amount. Still believe that convenience of location makes STK a solid choice when not able or desirable to venture outside of the hotel.

Food was good. Service was mediocre. Filet was tender. Love how they torch butter to drip on top of the steak. If you're looking for a romantic place it looks like it would be that way until you get inside and they're blasting dance club music. I would probably not come back.

STK DC came through for Friday happy hour! A good friend and I stopped by after work, and it definitely did not disappoint. While I'm personally not a huge fan of STK for dinner, their happy hour and brunch menus are where they really shine. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the bartender was fantastic from start to finish. She was attentive, friendly, and took the time to ask what flavors and dishes we typically enjoy before making recommendations. Service like that always makes a difference. We started with the Castaway (a refreshing tequila cocktail) and an Old Fashioned before diving into the food. For bites, we ordered the short rib quesadilla , truffle fries , wagyu taco, tuna tartare taco , and wagyu meatballs. Everything was delicious, especially the truffle fries, which never disappoint. The short rib quesadilla was packed with flavor, and both tacos were excellent. My only critique would be the wagyu meatballs, which were good but could have used a little more seasoning. Also, $9 for a single taco feels a bit steep, even by DC standards. One of the unexpected highlights of the evening was the atmosphere. We ended up chatting with current and former employees who were hanging out at the bar. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, joking with us throughout the evening and even buying us a round of shots . Between the friendly crowd and the stellar bartending team, the experience felt much more personal than your typical chain steakhouse visit. The restaurant itself is much larger than I expected, with a spacious layout and a great-sized patio perfect for warmer weather. It's located inside a hotel where I've attended events before, but this was my first time visiting this STK location. If you're looking for a lively happy hour spot with solid cocktails, shareable bites, and great service, STK DC is worth a visit. Just be prepared for a few menu items that might make your wallet do a double take.

I was really disappointed with my experience at STK. Given the reputation and pricing, I expected much better. Our party ordered the burrata, fried rice, steak frites, oysters, steak tartare, tacos, tequila cocktails, and an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the only items we actually enjoyed were the tacos, the fried rice, and the drinks. The tequila cocktails and espresso martini were excellent and were easily the highlight of the evening. The food, however, was a major letdown. The burrata seemed old, was firm instead of creamy, and was served without any bread or crackers, which made the dish feel incomplete. The steak frites arrived cold and lacked flavor. The oysters were not enjoyable, and we waited an unusually long time for cocktail sauce, only to initially receive two containers of vinegar. The steak tartare was also disappointing and not something we could finish. While the bartenders did a good job keeping drinks flowing and were pleasant throughout the evening, the food service was extremely slow. We wanted to speak with a manager about our experience, but never had the opportunity. Even getting the check and paying the bill took far longer than it should have. For a restaurant at this price point, the quality of the food and overall dining experience simply did not meet expectations. We left feeling disappointed and with no desire to return

We waited over 2 hours just to get our food and honestly for the price it wasn't worth it. The food isn't life changing and I personally believe you can find better at a more affordable price. You're mostly paying for the ambiance and the name brand in my opinion. I would say that our server was very nice and the music the DJ played was good. Even after the extremely long wait the manager didn't even want to give us a discount on our bill and we had to ask to be compensated and after spending $200+ the 10% compensation wasn't even worth it because everything is so expensive. People who sat down 30+ minutes after us got their food, finished, and left before we even got our entrees.

Came to STK to try out their happy hour. It's located inside the hotel. The service was really good and the drink that I had was good as well. Happy hour food is smaller versions of what is on the larger menu and for the most part it was good. Nice atmosphere inside and there is also outdoor seating if you prefer that.

This restaurant is inside the Marriott Marquis right by the Mt Vernon convention center so evening time brings in a lot of post work traffic. I went there for the happy hour since small bites were between $3 and $9. The food was delicious and I loved every thing we ordered. We got the tater tots ($3), short rib quesadilla ($6) which was extremely delicious, popcorn chicken ($9), and several cheeseburgers with fries ($12). The cheeseburgers come with chips but we wanted fries which were a $3 upgrade. I would've gotten chips if our server had informed us of the surcharge for fries since we didn't eat much of it at all (they were delicious though). The cheeseburgers were very good and I'd be down to come back for just the burgers. The cocktails were also $9 and we got the mojito and the strawberry guava gin drink, both were great. The space was packed for happy hour and the vibe was upbeat. I'd come back for the happy hour anytime. Highly recommend!

First time visitor here. Two positive points: our waiter Brian was very nice and my dish was fairly tasty - although it was served cold. Other than that this place leaves a lot to be desired, especially given the prices. First, I was among a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 kids. It was very apparent that the space was a cocktail table so we asked to be moved. The head hostess was extremely unwilling to accommodate but eventually acquiesced. Second there was an extremely loud party that proceeded to party across the entire restaurant, encroaching on diner's space. All of the staff watched but none were willing to say anything. The manager finally appeared and assured that they are leaving soon (heavy sigh). Third, our table was infested with gnats. Nothing more to say about that...just bizarre. I will not return here much less recommend. For this price point there are much better restaurants in DC. Update: Awesome AI generated response...a quick scroll thru other reviews revealed the exact same response. I never mentioned their bathroom. Please do better. read more

The food was terrible we were served a Ribeye, Crab Cakes and Salmon. The ribeye wasn't even what we ordered they put in a well done and that's not what we asked for. We also ordered Fries and they brung out truffle Fries. We know how the crab cakes looked and they kept trying to say that's how they're supposed to. The look and vibes of the restaurant are awesome especially the smoke coming from the machine. I also want to note that there is a new problem we keep seeing nets everywhere around us. read more

My wife and I walked out after a few minutes, so I can't comment on the food. The ratchet hostess wouldn't sit my wife because I was delayed a few minutes parking the car. When we did get into the dining room, the table was right in the path of other guests and staff. Very noisy with house music, so having any kind of conversation was out of the question. For the prices being charged on the menu; I expected the experience not to come off so cheap. We ended up at the Capital Grille, which never disappoints. 5/27 Update: Nice canned response you used previously with Alexis and Vanessa, and other crappy reviews. STK Steak is an overrated Apple Bees!!!! The ribeye tasted like it came from a chain restaurant like Apple Bees. I am inclined to say that Apple Bees may taste better It was cold and bland!!! The "crab and steak fried rice " was cold and tasteless with a big as cold fried egg laying on top of the rice!! The mushrooms were cold! The cute bread they bring out was cold!!!! The people dining with us shared the same sentiments!!! The calamari was okay! The bread pudding was mediocre! The drinks were made with cheap mixes!! The oysters were fantastic ‍!!! I heard mixed reviews about the place but carried my hard head behind right on in there!!! I will NEVER go back and I am sure they don't care!!! Also, the manager has a smart azz mouth. It was majority young black people in there so I am sure he is use to talking to people flippantly!! It's over priced for the lack of taste in my opinion!!! STK DC is a $15 experience for a $200+ bill with extremely condescending service, overpriced food on an underdeveloped menu, and a staff that thinks it can serve a mostly black clientele without actually respecting black people. Not only did we have to make our requests for plates, forks, and table bread multiple times before receiving it, but when we did receive the food it was inexplicably plain, unseasoned, and was frankly an unsophisticated menu posing as a five-star dining experience. To top it off, there were gnats throughout the restaurant and there isn't a bathroom for customers within the establishment - you have to walk quite a distance through a hotel for a simple accommodation. While I was willing to overlook these flaws initially, it was only followed by deplorable service after getting my steak temperature wrong. I ordered a medium rare steak, as I always do, and received a medium well cook. I asked to send it back and the waiter told me to check again to which I said I took a bite and it's overcooked. He then doubled down and said I didn't cut it in the middle and the purple lighting makes the steak look a different color. I asked him to watch me saw into the overcooked steak himself. He went to his manager and then came back a second time to ask me what I meant by medium rare. As if I'm an uninformed customer who doesn't know what she was asking for. I said again, medium rare. I complained to the manager, a white woman, who then said a lot of the clientele (most of all the patrons were black) don't know what they mean by medium rare when they order so they ask the waiters to double check. I was beyond offended at this point. The level of condescension for a mistake their kitchen clearly made was beyond me. The chef comes out, gives me another steak, asks me to cut into it and then repeats the same sorry excuse about the lighting after the waiter had clearly already confirmed the steak was multiple temperatures overdone. I would never set foot in that establishment again. I advise anyone, especially people of color, thinking of going to this restaurant to take their money elsewhere. Even if the service was stellar - the food was cheesecake factory-esque costuming under Michelin star pricing. Never again. read more

Just went here May 20 2024 for my birthday dinner. The ambience of the restaurant was ok and it was aesthetically pleasing. However, they did have a dj and the music was so loud we had to keep relaying what the server said to each other around the table. The night started off good but unfortunately didn't stay there. We were a party of 4 and ordered appetizers and drinks. Those items came quickly and everything went downhill after that. It took forever for our dinners to start to come out. My husband and I got our food but our guests didn't. I requested my lamb medium but it was well done. The server came before i cut into them and we asked about the rest of the food. She said it's on the tray and should be right out. Right out meant another 15 mins and a meal was still missing. When she finally came back to the table we asked for a manager and informed that the 2 lamb orders were both overcooked. She took the 2 plates and never apologized. While waiting for the recooks, the last meal finally came. Our 2 lamb entrees come back out and they're RAW. At this point, I don't have it in me to wait or try again. We ask for the manager again and inform her that they're way undercooked this time. She says but do you still want them and we both said no. Again, she doesn't apologize. She just takes the plates and walks off. The server was very apologetic and even came back with great energy to sing happy birthday. But the manager, she needs to be retrained. Customer service was terrible on her end. We saw her earlier in the night and assumed she was another customer from the way she was dressed. We spent over $600 to be tortured for my birthday. read more

Made a reservation to experience fine dining with my group of friends to celebrate birthdays. We are certainly accustomed to dining in the finest of restaurants and experiencing superior customer service with phenomenal food that we can highly recommend to others. Well this was the polar opposite!!!! After arriving fifteen minutes prior to our reservation and being seated five minutes after that, there were very few patrons in the establishment upon our arrival. However, one would've thought that we arrived with a wait time of three hours as it took one hour and fifteen minutes from our reservation time for us to even receive our drinks. We were a party of seven and only four of us ordered drinks. We placed our food order at the same time as the drink order, remember we were seated at 11:50, received drinks at 1:15, only part of the party received some of what they ordered as appetizers or entrees at 1:55, all of which was cold. In the midst of all of this we were being told your food is being plated, your food will be on the table in two minutes, everything is on the way. All lies to appease us. Extremely poor planning on the part of management as there were not enough servers to accommodate the amount of patrons due to events taking place in DC over the weekend! While STK claims to never have that many customers on a Saturday that early in the day, provisions should have been made considering the events and the sheer number of people in the city! It is appalling that such a supposedly high end restaurant would be so ill prepared with bottom level service delivery and food that isn't fit to serve anyone at all. We ended up leaving frustrated, still hungry and refusing the cold food that we were finally served after sitting there for two hours! Trust that we will never again patronize nor recommend this establishment to anyone under any circumstances! Pathetic and unacceptable! read more

I went to STK for dinner with friends. The service was ok and food was manageable. however the worst thing was the bill. my bill was only $160 and added a $15 tip for their server. however when I checked my account the next day I noticed that my server decided to give herself a $32 tip instead. in the mist of closing the tab with our very pushy server I did not realize that I never received a receipt. I contacted the restaurant 2 times and was told that the General manager Kevin would get back to me. it has been almost a week and nothing. I will be moving forward with next steps as this restaurant allowed their server to take money from a paying customer. I am disappointed with the lack of concern for the situation. The oysters were amazing and so were the short rib quesadillas. The steak was seasoned well but I think it's dry aged and I'm more of a wet steak fan. August was a great server. There just needs to be a greater bar presence cause it took forever for our drinks to come. read more

A group of us had a birthday dinner celebration at the D.C. venue. The service was outstanding, but the steak was terrible. I expected a superior cut of steak from a renowned steak house and that was not to be. I have has better steaks at Outback for 1/4 of the price of this steak. The ribeye filet was very tough. At some point the manager came by our table and asked how things were. I told him of my disappointment in the toughness of my steak. He said he would look into it and I never saw him again. Apparently, one is paying for the atmosphere of this place and not the quality of the beef. read more

Went there for HH. It took them about 20 mins to seat us during HH so we definitely lost a good amount of time to drink and eat but YUSEF took care of us. Calm, patient, accommodating - his service was great. I'm only giving a minus 1 star because of the time it took to get us seated and there was some miscommunication with maybe a manager or something about our order and time for ordering but thanks to Yusef, we left satisfied. My review keeps being removed instead of being addressed by management. Here's my 3rd attempt. My expectations from my previous experiences dining at STK in the meatpacking district back in the day, feels like a fever dream. I had high expectations for DC's first STK run, which was a flop and I was willing to give it another chance last week, boy was I wrong. The food was subpar especially for the price point. Some items were decent, others not so much. Several dishes were served to us cold. The steak temperature was incorrect, medium was requested, but instead was completely over cooked and so tough that it was inedible. Make sure to check your receipts for unauthorized upcharges because that happened to my party as well. The bartender was very welcoming, our server was kind, but just seemed misled by the management (not his fault). To put the icing on the cake, when these very fixable issues were brought up to management (specifically the AGM) my party was met with hostility, microagressions and overall bad customer service. If you're looking for fine dining, this is not it! If you're in the mood for neon signs, grass walls and social media opps you'll probably enjoy it, but be willing to sacrifice the quality of your meal, receive the bare minimum of customer service and support a management team that has no issue disrespecting customers they've deemed unimportant. The restaurant is new so you'd think they'd put their best foot forward. I was not expecting a perfect evening, I understand new venues have to work through the kinks. I could get past the food and other mishaps, wouldn't have even written a review bc I wouldn't have cared that much. But where I had to draw the line is when the toxic and racist management culture bleeds onto customers like myself and my party. No one should leave a dining experience feeling mistreated due to the color of your skin. For those that do decide to dine here, I hope your experience is better than mine bc the bar just seems to be low. Good luck! read more

Me and my homegirls WON'T be dining at the new stk in dc EVER again and I hope it closes like the old one! My experience last night with the racist, misogynistic management was dehumanizing. Black women deserve better! Arrived to STK Dc for my best friend's birthday dinner. It's very rare that my girls and I are able to get together these days, due to living in different states, work, family and life. So we were excited! Mind you, two of us are new moms and going out on a work night and leaving our babies at home is a big deal. We asked to start with some drinks and appetizers, bc we are starving. "He says no, that's not allowed all of our food must be ordered at the same time, so he can only put drinks in. Appetizers must come out with entrees" ...Ok, that's fine I guess, it's strange but whatever we follow the rules (it's always questionable when restaurants have this rule). The server is gone for a while, he comes back with drinks and we're ready to order. We ask for multiple appetizers, two salads, pasta, ala carte sides, a bottle of champs and a $165 medium temp tomahawk sliced to share. The servers eyes light up and he verbatim says "If you get the tomahawk, it comes with your choice of two sides, plus choice of 6 shrimp or 2 lobster tails and all of stk's custom sauces." This is where we should've went with our instincts bc we were all confused as to why the tomahawk priced at only $165 included all of these items at no additional cost. We questioned him and he confirmed it was "included". Ok, so we went with it plus all the other items we ordered. The apps came out, they were mid but we were hungry and we're enjoying each others company. Finally after an additional 45 mins the tomahawk and all of the sides, shrimp and sauces arrive. This is where things took a very dark turn. As the server delivered the main entree he was escorted by the manager, Alex. She abrubtly demanded that we cut into the steak and approve that it was cooked to our liking. From first look, we said this steak is not medium, it's well done. Her response was 'do you want it or not?" Umm things were getting awkward. We're not ones to cause an issue with food, so we agreed to "try it" bc we didn't want to upset the chef. Alex swiftly walked away, wasn't friendly or warm and left us to eat our food. We all took a slice and added the sides to our plates, Upon first bite, we all realized the steak was well done, was tough, and crusted in peppercorn to cover up the taste. The sides were cold and tasted as if they'd been sitting out. The server comes over and we're like "hey this is not working for us, the steak is not edible", he looks nervous and goes to get the manager. The first manager Alex arrives back to our table, along with the asst. gm - Bryan and a very tall large man who I assumed to be another manager. The managers then began to talk to us sternly without even allowing us to explain the issue, 'well you said the steak was fine, so we're not removing it from the bill, you ate the steak". Umm can we speak, who said anything about a refund, relax! But that's when we we're triggered. Instead of speaking to us in a caring, professional manner, we were accused of trying to not pay the bill. We were hungry, we just wanted the issues to be fixed! and the very tall man was not a manager, HE WAS SECURITY. Why is security hovering over our table bc we asked to speak to a manager. I felt like crying, I felt embarrassed, misunderstood, judged and invalidated. My appetite was gone at this point. I sincerely asked 'wait why is security here?" and the AGM Bryan says "well i don't know what you all are capable of, you could get violent" Umm what?! We are a group of professionals with clearances & a lot to lose, what would make you feel that we had the ability to be violent to a stranger? Obviously bc we're black! We've been well mannered, polite and calm throughout this entire evening. Why as black women are we labeled to be aggressive or thugs, why can't we express our grievances without being accused of trying to get free food? Like what? On top of the racist behavior from the management of stk dc, the microagressions, the rudeness, the server lied about the price! He then admitted that the items "included" with the tomahawk actually had a very hefty upcharge. Every single item he said was included was not! $70 for 6 shrimp?! Wow! Like why did you deceive us knowing we would see the final bill. The server then tells us "well during training we were told that people who come here have money and they won't notice the additional prices". Wow stk you're training your employees to do this? The AGM - Bryan - then proceeded to "do us a favor" and discount the bill that would have been $700++ to $400++, even though we didn't eat the entree or sides, were deceived about the pricing and we're treated like scum. The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

Parking in the area can be a bit challenging, but I've usually been lucky enough to find street parking, even on snowy days. One area I'd like to see improvement in is the cocktail selection; I'm a fan of well-mixed drinks and would appreciate more options beyond the basics.

My wife and I went to STK in Washington, DC, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We originally went because we saw the steak special advertised on their website, but we ended up taking advantage of the happy hour menu and tried several different items. Everything we ordered was enjoyable, and it turned into a really fun dining experience. The highlight of our visit, however, was our server, Jasmine G. It was only her third day on the job, but you honestly wouldn't have known it. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us quickly, was attentive, and made sure we were taken care of. Our food came out quickly, and she genuinely made us feel like our anniversary was important to her. We had actually gone to another restaurant the day before where we felt completely overlooked and weren't even properly acknowledged. That experience made us appreciate STK even more. The difference was night and day. Jasmine showed us what good customer service looks like by being attentive, welcoming, and simply caring about us as customers. For dessert, we ordered the warm cookie, and Jasmine went the extra mile by having "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. She also surprised us with two glasses of champagne to celebrate. Those small personal touches meant a lot and made our anniversary feel special. Me and my friends visited STK on 9/28 for a birthday brunch celebration reserved for 10 people. Upon arriving, they did not allow us to asking that more of are party needed to arrive first although 7/10 of us were there. After waiting for several minutes we were finally told we could be seated. Once seated we were greeted by the bartender of whom I found out was also my server. She was extremely nice but seeing as though she was doing both jobs, there were delays in our service which she is not to blame for. Once we received our food, things were missing, prepared incorrectly, and delayed. A conversation regarding our experience and a percentage was taken off but there was an item that should have been removed completely in which it was still on the bill. The assistant manager unfortunately had an attitude and very rudely described how she is not able to remove things from the bill but will make an exception. Her attitude was horrible and could have ruined our brunch. To Ana (I believe that was her name), our bartender- I'd like to say thank you and great job. I would advise some leadership training and coaching for the assistant manager and training to the cook staff although the chef was extremely nice and apologized for the mix up. 2 stars are for aesthetics and the bartender :) read more

The meal started strong with the **bread and butter**--soft, fluffy, warm, and undeniably delicious. For appetizers, we had the **Lil' Burgers and the Burrito**, both of which were outstanding. The Lil' Burgers, in particular, were my favorite part of the entire meal--perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. For sides, we chose the **Mac & Cheese and Sweet Corn Pudding**, both of which were delightful and complemented the meal well. The **Apple Pie** for dessert was just okay--nothing special, but it got the job done. The biggest letdown was the **Ribeye**--underwhelming and not nearly as impressive as expected. Given STK's reputation as a steakhouse, I anticipated much more. On the other hand, the **Filet** was well-received by others at the table, so perhaps that's the better choice. Overall, I'd rate STK DC a **6/10**. While some dishes were excellent, the steak--the supposed star of the show--fell short. I've been told the **STK in NYC is superior**, so I may give that location a try and see how it compares. read more

I recently dined at STK Washington DC inside the Marriott Marquis and left extremely disappointed, especially considering the price point. I ordered the 10 oz. Ribeye with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and two margaritas. When my steak arrived, it was barely warm and had no sear. After speaking with a manager, I sent it back. While waiting for the replacement, my sides sat at the bar and became cold, forcing me to ask for them to be reheated as well. What made the experience worse was the lack of any genuine apology or concern from management regarding the issues with my meal. To add to the frustration, an obviously intoxicated woman sitting nearby reached onto my plate and took one of my asparagus spears. Not only was this inappropriate, but it also created an uncomfortable and unsanitary dining experience that should have been addressed by staff. For a bill totaling approximately $225, I expected much better. The only highlights of the evening were the margaritas and the exceptional service provided by the bartender, who was professional and attentive throughout my visit. Unfortunately, the food quality, management response, and overall experience did not justify the cost. I expect much more from a restaurant with STK's reputation. I will not be returning. read more

It took 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. While someone initially offered us water, they never returned with it, which added to the growing frustration. What made things worse was watching a couple who arrived after us get served before we were even acknowledged. My date and I came during Happy Hour and I did not like my table seating. Food 5/5 Honestly this was the single best steak I've ever had, was that because I shilled out for the Australian Wagyu... Maybe. But at the end of the day, I can't find any faults in any of the food I got during my stay here. Service 5/5 Don't listen to the morons who have service a low score, the staff were very attentive and considerate of us, I suppose if you're turned off by human interaction... Go get some friends. Our server was amazing and her name was Riche Ambiance 5/5 Surprisingly good hearted and casual given the price tag. A simple button down shirt and some darker clothing is all you need. The color scheme and lighting was great with a mix of white, black, violet and pink colors (although said pink may be for the upcoming cherry blossom festival). Food isn't close to worth the freaking price no matter what city you're in. I really can't understand why you would charge $41 for a 6-8 ounce canned and underseasoned crab cake. I understand even less why they used .5 ounces of saffron with mustard cream that tastes nothing of mustard other than to jack the price up because honestly other than looking pretty, you added $15 to my plate for no reason. Adding $7 to a steak to dry rub or add pepper??? Who in hittlers blessed ballsack do they think they are? For the quality of the food, I'd rather hit a freaking cracker barrel. At least they don't charge for pepper. If your paying $200+ for dinner it would be nice to see and hear the person across the table from you. Not here! I was invited to STK to dine on opening night and I have to say it was a great experience, I've only been to a few steakhouses in DC and I have got to say the ambiance here is unmatched, great vibes, lighting, and decor (Which my gf loved). We ended up getting the chefs tasting menu which came with too many things to list. We enjoyed everything! Especially the proteins which had some unique flavors to them, and out of all the dipping sauces I enjoyed STK's signature sauces best and the horseradish (lmao). When it came to service we came in just before dinner time so we were extremely well taken care of, since we had so many dishes they had to come take our empty plates often and did it very timely. We placed our full order with him, but he offered no suggestions, guidance, or enthusiasm--something that is central to the Carmine's dining experience. My wife and son were first‑time guests, and this was a missed opportunity to showcase your restaurant's concept. After placing our order, we waited nearly ten minutes before he entered it into the system, and during this time we still had no bread for our daughter. When bread finally arrived, our drinks did not. When I politely asked about them, he responded, "Yes you did, and they are not ready," again in a rude and deliberate tone. Ms. Tynynka McIntosh came to the table, listened attentively, and reassigned us to another server named Marcos who was professional, kind, and attentive for the remainder of the meal. Unfortunately, the original server continued to behave inappropriately--dancing around our table, making snickering comments under his breath, and creating tension during what should have been a joyful celebration. Despite the manager's efforts, the damage was already done. Our daughter's first birthday dinner was overshadowed by poor service and unprofessional behavior. I want to emphasize that both my wife and I work in the hospitality industry--I am an Executive Chef for a major hotel, and she is a server. We understand the demands of this profession, and we also understand what good service looks like. This server's conduct did not reflect Carmine's standards and left us embarrassed for him and disappointed in the experience. While the manager did her best to salvage the evening, the overall experience was deeply affected.
