Ribeye and Potato Salad (not a regular side)
    Chris A.

Stockman's is tucked away in a strip mall on Dunbow Rd just west of Heritage Pointe G and C. Most of Calgary probably does not know this place exists, but it is a quick 15 min drive from South Calgary. This restaurant and lounge set up is good if you are after a pub-type setting or would like a slightly more formal restaurant setting where you can bring the kids. The menu ranges with standard fare ranging from wings to steak and other entres and pizza. Decided to give this spot a try on Sunday afternoon and, while quiet, had some traffic in and out. The lounge has a nice bar set up with tv's for watching the games. My Yorshire Babe and I decided to have beef - she of the tenderloin, I of the ribeye. Steamed veg and mash for her - so Brit. For me, steamed veg and potato salad - so Canuck? Potato salad is not a regular side, but was very well done! Our server looked after us very well - nice direction on choosing wine and recommending meal choices. Try this place out! It is a nice spot and clearly a locals spot that they may not want the secret out!

The steak was cooked perfectly, but the dessert was the real highlight, it was phenomenal. The only disadvantage is the location. I've heard mixed reviews about this restaurant, particularly when it comes to brunch. However, if you're considering coming here for dinner, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

As a…read moreresult I did not want to be "that guy" and raise an issue at the restaurant and even if we were on our own, I likely still don't raise the issue but just simply not return to the restaurant. We dine out a lot so this was not a case of not having comparables. Service was very pleasant and attentive. 3 out of 4 meals were fine. All salmon based dishes that were enjoyed. The fourth was the Alberta Lamb Top Sirloin. I wish I would have taken a picture of the meal. The price was $62 for the entree which I find is in line with mid to higher end restaurants in Calgary and expected. What was surprising was that the entree consisted of two pieces of lamb that each would be slightly above the size of a golf ball. I actually cut it into small pieces just so that it would last longer. There were a couple of slices of potatoes and a small amount of seasonal vegetables. In my head I was saying, "seriously" or "that's it". I would say that since Covid occurred, prices at restaurants have risen about 40% higher and given that we still dine out quite a bit, I have been accustomed to this new pricing but I simply would not return to Flores and Pine given the complete lack of value. It is a shame because the room and ambience was nice and this restaurant had been on our list to try since it has opened. I don't believe I have ever written a review of a restaurant and I have certainly have had worse meals at a restaurant but these were likely at a pub or chain restaurant where I have few expectations. Anyway, as mentioned the other 3 in our party enjoyed their meals and it was only I that had an issue.

My boyfriend and I attended when they were having their burlesque show and it was so much fun! I wasn't sure what to expect but the dancers and the music definitely kept us entertained. For the owner, I can't say the same He has asked me "so, how can we can we improve at Betty Lou's". No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter. The owner seems to weaponize feedback, which is completely toxic. Sure, you're the owner, absolute respect to you for making this fair in this industry, it's accomplishment. However、please do not ask serving or bartending staff if you don't want genuine feedback. The owner will act against you. We requested one time that Blaine (the owner) does not come on floor if he's had more than two drinks and if he's not dressed in proper uniform. As an owner, sure, to some extent that's fine. But when you threaten a server, who is still new, you will fire them based off how long you're doing menu tours is not acceptable. If you didn't know, menu tours are just running through the drinks and food, which can take a considerable amount of time when you are busy. Now imagine the owner is so disconnected from the reality of the service, is also five drinks deep in the office. The owner will award you back off a few good days, but if you have one review where a customer believes you didn't believe you delivered "a personable experience" you're done. Now, that seems rough, but imagine an owner who values complete bullshit over actual truth. But I mean hey, would I work an environment where the owner can flip a switch, absolutely. It doesn't matter So hey, if you get hired at Betty Lou's, got bless you You can have a good few days, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. There is no HR, no general manger, you know why? They've left, to better and more complete opportunities that Betty Lou's cannot offer. If you're looking for any place to work, please, reconsider Betty Lou's. If you're looking for a place to drink, please reconsider Betty Lou's
