A good concha should be soft, slightly fluffy and have that fresh-baked aroma. This was oversized, dry and it felt like I got more bread than flavor. For someone who grew up with Mexican pan dulce, there's that hard-to-describe "authentic" quality--it's not just sweetness, it's the texture, the crumb and the balance between the bread and the topping.
