There's something about the Springs when it snows that makes an LA native feel like someone's shaken up a snow globe and I've jumped right inside of it. I love how stunning this city is when it's covered in powder (never mind sweeping the car off, it's worth the views). Each time I come to town, I pray for a magical dusting. Black Bear Coffee isn't necessarily my most fav coffee shop in town but I've visited on several occasions. Things I love about Black Bear, the constant flow of camouflage that enters. I thought yellow was my fav color but every time I'm in town I realize it's not yellow, it's camo! Why is real estate not up in towns where hot men in uniform are literally everywhere?!?! It's obviously a bit more prominent due to the base being a stones throw away from their front door. I always order the same drink, a caramel bear with oat milk and I've had the chorizo breakfast burrito a couple of times. Black Bear provides a good start to the day with their many tasty offerings. Service is always sweet, and quick - two things I greatly appreciate. Very nice spot for a meet up, warm, cozy, yummy, totally hits the spot. A slightly more rustic vibe than some of the other spots I visit in town. read more

This was actually an accidental visit as we thought we were all headed to Black Bear Diner, but they had food, so we decided to give it a shot. I have the bagel and what I though was to be lox sandwich. They do not use lox, it appeared to be canned salmon like you get from a can, so it wasn't as strong, but there was plenty of it. I chose the plain bagel and over all it was tasty. There was plenty of everything on it, so I had no complaints there. The mocha I had was solid, so it was good. I think the only real complaint I have is I'm guessing the person that does the menu does not understand that "lox" refers to a specific type of salmon, not just salmon in general. As a barista myself-I am picky about drinks. I asked a bunch of questions and was even shown the good quality of matcha they use. We ended up small-talking about all sorts of drinks, I could tell there is passion about what they serve! The sitting area itself has a cozy, woodsy atmosphere. The lights were a good level too, not too bright or too dim, so I plan to come back to study sometime! read more

We went here for breakfast on a trip, just my wife and I. The coffee was great! 5/5 stars. The quiche was awful. We both got one, I got the bacon one and my wife got the other option. Both smelled awful and we each took one bite and ended up throwing them away. The smell was so bad the car stunk for a while from it. Review Visit: June 12th, 2019 Here is a bear PSA. If it's black, fight back. If it's brown, lie down. Bear safety facts aside, I had all morning to kill as my cousin went to Denver Airport to pick up another cousin. Using my Google-fu, I found Black Bear Coffee was right up the road from me. I pulled up the Uber app and requested a ride. 15 minutes later has me arriving at Black Bear Coffee. I offered my driver a coffee as a tip but he declined. So, I gave him cash instead. Casually strolling in, I noticed there was a delicious coffee smell lingering in the air, the chatter of casual conversations from the other customers there and wood everywhere. The decor of the place was wood. There were some small wooden bears near the register. Wooden beams in the rafters. Wood floors. Wood chunks of tree for a table. Wood you believe it? I browsed over the menu and was drawn to the Caramel Bear. The cashier told me it was a caramel/vanilla latte blend. Before she could even finish, I told her that I will take the largest size they have. As I was the only one in line, my drink was served up after 2-3 minutes. I picked up my drink and took a seat on a stool that looked outside. My drink was a good as it sounded. A nice blend of caramel and vanilla. Maybe the elevation had some play in it, but the caffeine did it's work. After a long night of hanging out with my cousin, it kicked in and woke me up. As I was sipping my drink, I was entertained by a dog that was sitting with it's owner. He was such a good doggo. Halfway through my drink, I swapped over to this big leather chair near the front door. I rested my drink on the tree trunk coffee table and sank in the chair. It was beyond comfy. I usually leave after finishing my drinks, but that chair wouldn't let me go. Sadly, this was the only coffeehouse I got to visit while in Colorado. But, this means I have to return to try all the others. read more

We stopped in after a hike while on our vacation and we really liked this coffee shop! They had food and bakery items. They also had some gluten free items. The baristas were very nice and helpful and the cafe was clean and decorated in a woodsy cabin vibe that was neat. My husband's lemonade was flavorful and my iced latte was also good. This coffee shop has the best vibes to do homework or work from of any of the coffee shops or cafes I have tried in the Springs. It is cozy and clean, has the right about of light, play good music at a reasonable volume, and is not too busy or too quiet. The coffee is great, and I highly recommend the Dizzy Bee (shakerato). Despite there being a "no pets allowed" sign they allowed in a dog. I could get past that until they gave the dogs owner a cup with whipped foam or something that the dude put on the floor and let the dog lick it up. I informed the staff and got blank stares. I got a dirty chai latte with oat milk and whipped cream and it was very good. More sweet than spicy, but not too much vanilla. I drank it so quickly! Will definitely be back for that. My 18 month old son loves croissants so I stopped in at 3:52 to grab him one. The sign on the front door said open and the hours on the chalkboard said open until 4. The staff of young females were cleaning and closing for the day when I walked in. One of the staff loudly cried out "god damnit" assuming I was there to upset there end of day routine. there were no croissants so I was unable to grab one for my son, but the unprofessionalism from the staff ensured I'll never return again.
