We honestly were disappointed in the quality of the work. The grout is not consistently spread (we will live with that), but the Schluter trim was crooked and the silicone used where the tile meets the countertop had to be re-done. We also asked them to do some additional cleanup work on removing excess grout from tile.

There were a wide variety of options to choose from as far as what color/pattern of granite we could have installed. We spoke with Atila who came to our home to measure. The installation team came several days later. They did an absolutely fantastic job. It was done in a clean way, they are a pleasure to work with and they asked all of the important questions to make sure that they installed it just as we would want. The price quoted was extremely reasonable. We paid 1/2 up front and the balance after installation. I am completely satisfied. We now may change the backsplash. They don't supply the tile which we will have to purchase after living with the new granite. If we decide to change the backsplash also, they will certainly be the ones to remove what we have and install the new. I have no reservations working with them and found the communication to be excellent.

Without going into details mirroring the 1 star reviews, we waited weeks past our template date before reaching out only to get the runaround from our point of contact (Jean). Like others, I was led to believe that 2-3 weeks following templating, they'd be installing.... After calls/emails from both my wife and I were blown off, I decided to cancel my order citing that the materials had not been ordered so there was no need to keep a deposit that hadn't yet been spent. Following an exasperated call with a person who turned out to be the owner's sister, the owner ended up calling me back and apologizing for my experience and assured me the materials were located less than 10 minutes away (my POC said they were coming from another state and were "delayed"). Owner made good on his word and my countertops were installed the following week as promised. I can't help but wonder where we'd be if I simply left a message for Jean instead of insisting my deposit be returned and my project cancelled. I was referred to this shop by a friend who remodels for a living (I'm the idiot who decided to remodel my own kitchen). From my friend's comment as well as others who have posted, it's clear they're struggling to deliver on promises made. If I were to do this again, I'd go with another shop (several here and around Frederick City). Again, countertops look amazing but I'd guess most places would deliver the same quality product and install sans the empty assurances offered by Designer Surfaces. If you've already paid your deposit and are stuck in limbo land, I recommend calling to cancel your order based on the assumption they haven't yet purchased your materials. If they confirm your material has been purchased (and you can't get a refund), I recommend requesting a copy of the material purchase order as proof.

No 1 has called me back and when I call Amber number it goes straight to voicemail as I am blocked!! I will be making a trip into the office and contacting the BBB!! Twice the panels were replaced then more spots showed up. One door was sent to a lab to be analyzed and that was two months ago. I can't get any feedback from the lab, our sales person or the owner of Carefree. At this point I just want my door back. I would stay away from this business. The owner, Ms. Emily Liu, is a knowledgeable and warm person. Her team working with her, including designing and measurement, cutting, and installation, are fabulous and skillful. We had some difficulties in choosing materials of quartz, sink and faucet for a consistency in their color and quality, Emily had helped us through a long process. Emily and her office personals always provided us with a lot of help and patience. Their fabricating work is excellent. We have two very large pieces of quartz, especially the curved center island top, which were told by other fabricators that they can only do it with 2 pieces connected. But fabricator in Emily's shop finished it in ONE complete piece. They transported and installed it perfectly. I want to specially mention their installation person, Mr. Jin. He is a very skillful, knowledgeable, and kind cabins and countertop installer. He did all countertop installation plus plumbing work and additional alteration, which are all beyond my concerns. In addition, Emily provides competitive and reasonable prices for their products and service as I compared with a few other local fabricators.
