Let me start out this review by saying that we are generally not B&B people, but the idea of…read morestaying on a farm (and I won't lie, visiting with their dogs) won out over the anonymity of a hotel and we went ahead of booked a weekend stay with Ed and Irene at Cold Moon Farm. It turned out to be a perfect life choice for a weekend of great conversation, goats, delicious food, and golden retrievers. Ed and Irene are wonderful hosts and it felt more like visiting long lost friends or family than turning up at a stranger's door. Their home is beautiful; we stayed in the Vermonter room downstairs, enjoying the pool table in the games area. It also wouldn't be a proper review without acknowledging Muriel and Charlie, their two gorgeous, friendly golden retrievers. Ed, Irene, and their staff were all gracious, friendly people. Matt was kind enough to let us tag along on the 6:30am chores (I know, most reviews talk about how much children loved meeting the animals - but these 30-somethings loved it too!) and we had the pleasure of meeting Sarah the next morning. The breakfasts were divine - fresh ricotta with honey and pepper, scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, fresh baked bread with butter and jam, yogurt with granola - and all farm to table. Portions were more than generous and while I don't usually eat bread (and always say I don't miss it), I wound up having two pieces of Irene's bread with my breakfast. I'd miss bread more if all bread could taste like that! Irene was also kind enough to show us how she makes ricotta and yogurt, which we loved (almost as much as eating it!). The hosts and staff give very generously of their time and we absolutely loved our stay. We are already scheming excuses to go back to pet Muriel and Charlie, visit with Pippi (my favorite goat of all goats), and maybe convince Irene to let us take a cooking class with her (or try her pletzels). Thank you to everyone at Cold Moon Farm for a great weekend; I really can't say enough positive things about the experience. If all B&Bs were like this one, I could very easily see myself becoming a B&B person.

Irene and Ed are not just the caretakers but family. Personal care is extended completely from their conversation to the complete farm to table including homemade soaps, honey, homemade ricotta and long line of foods to table. The breakfast bacon was the best I've ever had! It began as their expansive family home that they've now opened up to those who are lucky to choose this place. My wife and I along with another couple, friend and family dog were welcomed completely. As there private home in the past it has a number of different floors. With a weight room, family entertainment area including TVs ping-pong pool table, games etc.. We are foodies and picky with our travels and meals. Warm and inviting with plenty of parking. Quite simply we have been completely satisfied and a special surprise of having made new friends.

It was once said, "You either love Vermont in Fall, or you're wrong". We were not wrong. :-)…read more The Farm at Williams House is a pastoral jewel that makes you feel like you're in the bosom of nature's bounty and beauty. It is no wonder that so many of America's great writers have made Vermont home from time to time, as this wonderfully adorned property provides everyone with inspiration to feel like you are not in the mountains, rather the mountains are in you. John & Kathy are the ever so accommodating hosts, providing every aspect of hospitality expected from such a romantic and bucolic setting. This property has the detail and authenticity to seemingly tell its own stories dating back to colonial America, but whilst providing all modern comforts (AC, Fast Wi-Fi, etc.) to make for an easy, enjoyable stay. If you want to immerse yourself in tranquility and nature, take time here to relish in the gifts of country living, as only John, Kathy, and Vermont can provide. We cannot wait to make it back, in the meantime, we have precious memories as sweet as the syrup.

Perfect for weddings, events, retreats, or even just an escape from NYC. The hosts John and Kathy are so welcoming and kind. They made us feel right at home and even left us with fresh chicken eggs from the farm and maple cream which we had told them we loved so much. Also great location - the better half went skiing at Okemo while I stayed in and enjoyed everything about the cozy farmhouse. Highly recommend.
