Very close to the road (Rt 30), with tight parking area but the inn is small so not really too much of a problem. There's a beautiful little brook along the back of the inn- in the morning during the early sunlight was absolutely beautiful. Friendly check-in with Chris, took great care to ask where we were from, told us a bit about the area, briefed us on breakfast and common room hours. Very nice and hospitable- Chris made sure to show us how the heater worked, made sure we had everything we needed (i.e. a hairdryer! Fresh muffins earlier than their usual breakfast time b/c we planned to get an early start!). We reserved the Stratton Mountain Room, the room furthest from the road. I could still hear traffic going by on Rt 30 but at night, it's pretty quiet. The room and bathroom are kind of dated, but clean, quaint and cozy- 1 double and 1 twin bed- and decorated in blue and white patterns w/ a slight Asian influence. I could smell the slight scent of dog at times...this could be one of the animal-friendly rooms. Bathroom is small, w/ a stand-up shower- make sure to keep the door open so it can remain heated when unoccupied or it can get pretty cold! Thick comforters and extra blankets kept me warm. Modern conveniences of this B&B were great- WiFi available in the room and the common room, and there's a small TV w/ DVD player and VCR. Common room is right next to the Stratton Room- very convenient- small and self-serve- dishes, small fridge, microwave, games, and yummy lemon poppyseed muffins and coffee in the morning. Exactly what we needed! (There was also a variety of cereal, teas and juices offered.) My area recommendations- Stratton for skiing and snowboarding, Manchester outlet shopping (Coach, Polo Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, J Crew, Banana Republic, BCBG are my faves). Chris gave some great restaurant recommendations- this trip, we tried Mulligans at Stratton and New American Grille on Rt 100- both were great and affordable. Overall, great value, friendly owners, clean and cozy rooms, convenient location- I'll definitely be back!

Getting there proved a bit challenging when Google Maps routed us on State Route 121 which has some unpaved sections; luckily going back was easier using Route 35 to Route 11. Arriving at Grafton the first impression was of a classic New England Inn with a welcoming glow on a cold winter night. Entering through the B&B lobby had a great warm and comfortable feeling. The feeling of history is reflected in sign over the front desk showing the many prominent guests who have stayed over the years. The restaurant is classy, burgundy-colored walls with white trim and classic fixtures; a wonderful upscale dining room without being stuffy. They even had live music with a guitarist playing soft rock. Our server was very nice, professional and attentive. The menu combines classics and some interesting touches, I ordered the Bouillabaisse and my friend ordered the Caesar Salad and Chicken Wings. Our food came out quickly. The Caesar salad was huge, the wings were tasty and a generous portion. My Bouillabaisse was excellent a nice tomato and fennel broth loaded expertly prepared scallops, shrimp, mussels and a large fish fillet. The highlight were the large sweet perfectly seared scallops, but all of the seafood were delicious. For me this was a Pescetarian dream dish. We were persuaded to order dessert my friend got the Apple Pie and I got the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were sweet and satisfying, a great way to end a wonderful meal. I would strongly recommend having dinner at the Grafton Inn, the food, service and atmosphere are great, prices are reasonable for what you get. It dates back to 1801- and has old world charm with some nice updates as well. We attended a wedding here- but were able to check out the food from the Phelps Barn Pub- excellent!- and had a delightful breakfast at the Inn. The breakfast was a buffet with eggs, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon, sausage, fruit and more. Yummy! The rooms and the rest of the Inn have a historic feel. But they provide good WiFi throughout to keep you connected. The bed was a king- I slept like a baby! We will have to come back to check out more of the facility. It is close to the ski areas of Magic Mountain and Bromley. Great service by all the front desk and servers too. Highly recommended!

As a regular traveler and even more frequent reader of travel reviews, I am very familiar with (and…read morehave experienced) many stereotypes. The one this time is highly unpleasant initial contact that precludes staying there. The promise of a few relaxing days reduced the sting of resigning myself to paying $300/night for the "privilege" of a private bath; although all accommodations go for more than $200/night, only two of the six options have private baths. (The slightly less expensive option than mine was booked for my desired dates). Two are small one-room spaces that they advertise as cottages but seem more to be sheds. Neither have any plumbing and require using common facilities for guests in the main house. Reaching an innkeeper was rough to begin with. He then kept misstating my desired dates and told me that they could later adjust it. I let that go and hoped for the best. The breaking point was discussing my arrival time. I understood and respected that check in time was 3:00 pm. I truly did not think that ask to arrivie at 10 am on a Saturday morning in mid-September and happily either leaving my luggage in the car or leaving it behind the desk at the B n B until my room was ready and quietly enjoying the property was unreasonable. I was not counting on my room even being empty then but figured that it likely would be. The innkeeper got upset and told me that they still would have been serving breakfast (to no more then 12 guests, some of whom likeky already would have started their day) and could not even think about "assimilating" a guest at that time, He fully knew that I was not expecting any attention beyond a "hey" and maybe a handshake at that time. I told him to forget it and hung up; despite having my telephone number and e-mail, he made no effort at damage control even to the point of a quick apology that they did not want me there that early. My subsequent call to at least leave things on a friendlier note went unanswered. Subsequent conversations with a couple of travel agents, two friends who regularly travel, and a friend who is an award-winning travel agent confirmed my sense that my request was very reasonable, This is aside from the owners arguably charging at least 2x what they should. As an aside, I NEVER have had a hotel or inn keeper deny a request to show up early and amuse myself until my room was ready.

When I heard about Frog Meadow, what appealed to me was the fact that it is a rustic, mountain / wooded retreat. And that's what I wanted .... rustic relaxation. They offer some rooms w/ private baths - and some rooms that have a shared bath ( perfect if you are traveling with friends). I chose what they call The Brook Cottage. Set away from the main house, next to a babbling brook, this magical little cabin features a queen bed, electricity with ceiling fan and air conditioning ( I didn't need it at the end of June - the property sits on top of a mountain and the entire cottage has screened windows that provide an amazing cross breeze). Relaxing in this cottage surrounded by nature, is just transforming. I have not slept this good in months. Imagine the most comfy bed .... with great linen and blankets .... in an enchanted forest. I'm not kidding - it felt like that. True, it does not have a bathroom. But I knew this and realized that I would be "Glamping" and that's what this is!! The bathroom is located in the main house (which they show you during the tour when you arrive). It is spotlessly clean, and they offer big robes and lots of towels. This is a MENS retreat, so they jokingly suggest that in the night when you have to - just water the trees lol - otherwise the bathroom is there to use at all times. It worked out fine. They have a wood fired hot tub ... a swimming pond ..... patio to relax on and enjoy the evening. Also available is a beautiful great room / living room with cable tv if you want. Then there is breakfast. Served in a large chefs kitchen / dining room combo and butlers pantry. Fresh fruits and granola and yogurts, fresh juice tea and coffee to start. They prepare a different hot breakfast every day featuring local ingredients. The food was awesome. The hosts are a couple that built this property from scratch, and they love what they do. Attentive ( but not bothersome). This is their home and they enjoy sharing it, and are so accommodating. ** I mentioned that I had spotty internet in the cottage ... and they moved the routers right away to improve the signal etc ( it worked great after that). They could have easily shrugged and said it's the woods - sorry.... but they cared. Frog Meadow is amazing and I can't recommend it enough if you are looking for a quality, gay b&b. If you are looking for a fussy froo froo boring hotel then go there. If you want rustic and comfortable glamping in a true VT paradise - then go to Frog Meadow!!

Anne & David were warm and welcoming innkeepers and their residence was clean, homey, even kitchy with old ski relics and pictures from yesteryear adorning the walls as decoration as well as a unique assortment of mugs available for coffee or tea left on a shelf for your choosing, a very simple but pleasing touch). It was pretty much exactly what I would have imagined a BnB to be in a northeast ski town. The hospitality was second to none - warm smiles and helpful local hints, great big breakfast with toast, fruit, with eggs, bacon, and sausage all from local farms. The cat was even friendly, who curled up with me as I worked to catch up on some business in one of the many open gathering spaces late at night. If you ask nicey, David might show you his ski collection or even take you out for a personal tour of the mountain (although he did say he rarely gives lessons anymore, but something tells me he's still game). I couldn't be more pleased, and I would go again without hesitation. My highest recommendation!

The owners, Brigitte and Jason are so friendly and welcoming. And, Jess is always smiling and eager to make your visit fun. The bar area is on the smaller size with about 10 bar stools and a few tables, but that creates a very intimate setting and you are sure to make some new friends when you're there. There is a small menu with some very delicious things to pick from. The burger and fried pickles are delicious! There are usually four draught beers to choose from, as well as a full bar. The inn itself is charming-I recently was able to see some of the rooms during the INNdulgence tour. I look forward to stopping by when visiting.

The bar itself was colorful with an assortment of collectible items and cool hanging lamps. The space has personality and it draws that kind of energy.
