    Bacon cheeseburger with fries

I really want to like this place since it's local. I did give it 2 tries and wil probably try it one more time after they get done hiring. The burger had a great flame broiled taste, however over cooked and dry. The grilled chicken salad was a great size and had the right flavor, but again the chicken was overcooked. The boneless wings with the Spartan sauce was really good and I definitely recommend them. The staff was nice and we had no wait, food cane out quick as well. For everything we got it was only $36.00

Undercooked burgers when asked for well done

This is the second time we've had very undercooked burgers when asked for well done. Curbside is still available but be sure to call, I don't think they're watching for when you pull up based on my wait time prior to calling. Desserts were ok, strawberry sauce for the cheesecake didn't have strawberries in it, more like pink water. PB pie was good.

    Breakfast Burger and fries

We took our 3 grand daughters there for lunch. I was very surprised at the breakfast burger and fries I had. It was one of the very best burgers I've had in a very long time. Bun, burger, egg, bacon, tomato , onion and pickles were all incredible delicious. Fries were decent as well all for around $13.00. We had 3 adults meals, 2 kids meals and total cost was only $60 plus tip. Sitting outside in November also made it a pretty great lunch

Best Pretzel Bites! Broasted Great staff & Deck Patio is perfect even on rainy summer days!

    Nice menu too!

Yes. You should go. The food is so good and tasty. The atmosphere is super chill. The patio is nice and spacious. What's not to like? The service was top notch, hands down worth checking out!

Love the draft selection! Lost coast for the win!

We had a great meal at the tavern... My favorite part was probably the (fried) pretzel bites with bier cheese. I saved the leftover cheese for my fries, yum ! I got some naked wings with a sauce side and with a side of sweet potato fries (without sugar). We had a big party, six adults and three kids , and we were able to sit on the cover patio and have it almost to ourselves, no wait . It was a little chilly even tho they turned the heat on for us. We warmed up with some craft beer, and really enjoyed the wheat Lost Coast tangerine beer. Free popcorn was also a huge win for the fam who was a bit starving after getting the run around at the barrel room. Pro tip, popcorn is also good with the bier cheese :) really nice service there. I hear the summer concerts are great from here ... I can't wait to come back and try a burger. We enjoyed our meal so much and we're so hungry about the time we got here I barely took any pics!

Food was less than mediocre. Service was worse. Please improve! We need a good tavern in Waynesville!

What the village lacks is actual sit down food spots. (I previously worked at the Hammel House with Mrs. Bowman- we miss them!) The Butter Churn is filling a void and doing a good job at it. The menu is nice, soups- sandwiches & salad options. Our niece really enjoys their potato chips (I think they make them in house, I could be wrong.) The decor is eclectic, it feels like they have small collections and perhaps bought things locally from the antique shops. The back room had a Christmas Santa collection and it was expansive. Coca-Cola, clowns, vintage troll dolls- it all just feels like visiting someone's quirky aunts home. It feels homey and nice. The last time we went we had about twenty mins before closing and were popping in for ice cream. We were told...and reminded multiple times that they wanted to be out of the building at exactly closing time. We said we understood (I mean yes- I also love being off work on time) but the constant reminders felt like they were shoving us out the door when we were just placing ice cream orders and trying to pay. It might have just been a stressful night. We did pop in the next day and I asked about their coffee selection. The response we got was a bit dismissive and they told us "we have black coffee, we don't do any of that fancy stuff. Go down the street to Taylor's." I was going to order the regular coffee but it was off-putting so we did as they recommended and left. I know I don't *look* like a local- for obvious reasons. I don't want to believe this is why we received weird service compared to other patrons. Regardless, we have enjoyed the actual food and ice cream here. Our family likes it and visits weekly- I will just trust them that they get good consistent service every time.
