Our friends are Stone House wine club members and we always try to tag along as we love their wines. Stone House sits high above Lake Travis and provides beautiful views as you sip their Texas wines. Here you can enjoy their Australian or Napa inspired wines either in their AC cooled lounges or residing in one of their Adirondack chairs and enjoying the view. One of our Favs is the 2019 Angela's Wish Barossa Valley. This a Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz red blend. This is a very complex wine with a strong tannin finish. I love a good Malbec and their 2022 Malbec Napa Valley is good err great. It pours dark ruby red with an oak finish. Stone house offers wine tastings, a chef's five course pairing, and a deep dive wine master class. They do have weekend grilling, themed dinners, and a very interesting menu to accompany your wine. Went to this vineyard with family since they have a membership. They all had some white wine while I stick with the rosé. I'm a rosé all day kinda girl. The rosé was delicious, had a few glasses while we ate the cheese plate for an appetizer. We ordered dinner, which was good. I had the burger and tots. Beautiful landscape...maybe make front entrance to actual building more than just a door, haha. We love Carole and Carolyn. They make recommendations and know what we like. The Australian wine is superb and the food is interesting with nice tastes. We joined our first day there. Love that you get a nice pour each time you attend with your membership. Love it and very convenient from Austin or Marble Falls. They have a lakefront that is very nice to relax at. Bring your dogs but you don't see kids running all around. The wines are fabulous - most grapes being from Australia or CA with 1 estate wine with grapes from the vineyard. There is both inside and outdoor seating with multiple options for seating. I never post bad reviews. Don't join the wine club. I made a reservation here in May and brought my terminally ill cousin so he could enjoy the good weather. We wanted to sit by the lake but we're told you must be a member to sit in that area. Great! Sign us up! I purchased $200 wine that day and even inquired about renting the space to celebrate my cousin's remission. He's since passes away, but I hoped to revisit this place and have fond memories. It's not going to happen because of the wine club manager. I requested my first order in September, but never went back to pick up. So, in December I emailed the manager to skip a month until I could visit. He said I hadn't been a member long enough, so my response was, "Ok, I'll take four bottles instead of three, but ship them to me." I also asked that my previous order be shipped because I was having a party and needed to stock up. Instead, they charged me for two shipments that month! I emailed to make them aware, and he said it was my fault because I didn't let him know that my order was for my membership order that month. Untrue, but also just take responsibility! Again, I'm very pleasant because everyone makes mistakes. More mistakes! When I receive my shipment, it's short three bottles! I emailed the manager Bo Sutherland and the person who sent the confirmation to make them aware of the mistake. Bo Sutherland emailed me back to state he'd ship the order that was missing free (it's not free because I already paid for the wine and a shipment) and to inform me "THAT PERSON YOU EMAILED FORWARDED IT TO ME but THEY AREN'T OVER ME." Then he canceled my membership and said he would no longer communicate with me. What a diva! It's really unfortunate the wine manager was so temperamental and unwilling to own up to TWO mistakes. My card still hasn't been credited the extra purchase. I wonder why he didn't feel the need to offer me quality customer service. Hmmm. I kept all the emails, including the very rude final email and considered sending it to the owner, but they will see over time that you just don't treat paying customers that way. Anyway, it's a lovely place and I'm sad I can't have the party I was planning there to celebrate my cousin's life. It would have been beautiful. read more

Ok, it's a little off the beaten path from all other wineries in the area, but well worth the visit. They do require reservations, so don't forget to do that! Be aware that these people do not do anything without a reservation. They were nice enough to seat us but it was obvious there would be minimal service. The staff present were quite nice, just busy. We were allowed to buy wine to self serve on the back porch and were welcomed to be inside the tasting room or outside which was near the vineyard - very nice out there. Their vineyard was planted in 1999. That may be a little unusual for the immediate Austin area. The vines and the grounds are very well maintained. As far as the place, it is beautiful. It has the feeling of Napa but with Austin-area live oak trees. The property borders Lake Travis though it is barely visible from the tasting room area. There's an exclusive members only area that is on the lake. We purchased the Claros Reserve which is a Norton grape (hybrid) and is the grape grown on the estate. The wine was surprisingly excellent and cost $35. I think that, with a reservation, this would've been a superior experience. read more

This vineyard has a nice view of the water. You get five wines for $20. Only one wine was from Texas. A few of the wines were very poor in taste. It is table seating inside or they have tables outside. I prefer Spicewood winery. read more

Came here for wine tasting and was very impressed with the vineyard. We were staying at Horseshoe Bay Resort and were deciding between several vineyards to try in the area. I'm really glad we ended up trying Stone House. We decided to sit on the patio for our tasting. I tried the classic tasting and my dad tried the reserve tasting. The wines were mostly from Australia. They had one of their house wines on my menu. I thought the quality of wines was very average. We also got a cheese board which was really good. The area was picturesque and we were allowed to go down to an area for wine club members. They had an enclosed outdoor area for members only with a view of the lake. Overall, if you want to go to a vineyard with great views, this is the place to go. read more

Our visit to Stone House Vineyard was a true highlight of our anniversary vacation & and a delightful way to cap off our trip. The property is absolutely gorgeous - I mean you can truly just sit and relax for hours while you take in the stunning view. I had made reservations but we arrived a tad bit early and Liz was happy to accommodate us sooner. I'd like to take a moment to offer my sincerest appreciation for Liz as she made this experience so memorable for us. It was our first proper wine tasting and she truly took the time to explain every single wine to us - notes/scents to look for, best food pairings, explaining the difference in textures, where the grapes are from - I mean the whole nine yards. She even showed us the safer, beginner way to swirl the wine to really delight your senses before tasting. I had added a cheese board to our reservation which we thoroughly enjoyed! Liz was patient with all of our questions on the wine (and cheese), had a wonderful sense of humor, and just a lovely personality to deliver a phenomenal package of customer service. Every single wine we tried was delicious! We took home a bottle of Claros but we seriously wanted to take home one of each. If we weren't relocating soon, we would 100% have signed up for their membership. If we get to visit the area again, we will definitely stop in. I highly recommend visiting! read more

If you saw the pics online and thought you'd be sipping wine in an Adirondack chair by the lake, you will be disappointed. You have to be a member of their club to be enjoy that. However, despite this, you won't be disappointed you made the trip. The suburbs are approaching but there is enough open area on the drive there to make it relaxing. They greeted us as new visitors with a tasting of their Cuddles Cuvée, light and refreshing. We decided to get a couple of glasses of wine and sit outside. They have cheese plates available too. A beautiful hidden treasure. The atmosphere is fantastic- views of Lake Travis and grape vines sitting under a covered patio with a blanket and fireplace. DON'T COME HERE WITH KIDS. Can't speak of the wine, because we didn't have any. No tastings, just by the bottle. No glasses and no kids aloud anywhere on the grounds. There is something just a little bit wrong about sitting in the texas hill country wasting valuable wine tasting time drinking aussie wines... now dont get me wrong, the wines here are delicious but they're all sourced from south australia apart from one red (and a port) which is grown locally - It just doesn't feel like an authentic experience!! One star for the friendly and knowledgeable staff and a second for the fact that the wine is pretty delicious.. however i prefer to drink the local wine when out and about in wine country. I've been to the Barossa, the Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley wine regions in Australia (the regions in which this wine is sourced) and they are amazing wine regions BUT what I would really like to do now is explore the texas wine industry, unfortunately this winery didn't deliver :( read more

I couldn't believe that the best winery in the Austin area is sitting at such a low review score. Looking at the negative reviews I notice that none of them actually note the actual quality of the wines? Is there an "unhelpful" button on Yelp? Not all of their wines are local. But to me, the fact that they have truly excellent wines that were made at their sister Australian winery in the Barrosa Valley is a plus, not a minus - who can complain about having more varietals of wine? The fact that most of our favorite wines are partly or totally from the Barrosa vineyard helps a bit. My wife and I have been slowly exploring the vineyards of the Austin area since we moved here in 2005, and Stonehouse is our favorite hands-down. We're members of their wine club (but choose not to have the wine delivered, so we have an excuse to go visit the beautiful grounds several times a year); and we still have one of their 2007 Reserve Cabernets (possibly the finest wine we've ever had) on our shelves for a special occasion. Their grounds are beautiful, their staff (including beagles) are friendly and knowledgable, and their wines (particularly their reds) are the best you'll find visiting any winery in Central Texas. How could one NOT give them 5 stars? read more

We had the most knowledgeable sommeliere, she was cute, southern and knew her stuff! She made talking about wine so approachable but we pulled heaps of informative tid-bits straight off the vine.
