Then he noticed that inside our sink some of the group was coming up as well. He didn't even charge us extra and replaced that in like 2 minutes. Not measured correctly, had to add extra trim to cover their mistake on our large backsplash slab. Then the measurement person said it was because we were doing a replacement and measurements can be off. The seams are huge and visible and couldn't be adjusted after being placed, I noticed 1 corner wasn't finished and they had to adjust it on site . 9 months later and we have discoloration on multiple edges despite sealing it. I've asked for help and they said this isn't covered under the warranty. I'm looking at costly repairs or replacement on something I waited 15 years to change out. They did do a good job on my quartz remnant for my bathroom vanity but I had to really convince of them if the placement of the sinks as it's off set from what is usual. I would not use them again and it's a shame. Deb was great to work with and is a huge asset to them.

Some were overpriced. Another was using pressure tactics while Beyond Basements looked over the situation. David of Beyond Basements cuts to the chase. Provided measurements and an estimate based on our input and requests. We didn't need the more upscale basement system, but framing and drywall along with the floor installation and a half wall by the stairs. Ceiling framed and drywalled (including access points). Probably the most custom work were two barn doors, one to reach the crawlspace and another to utility area. David made us aware of what we needed to pick out and gave us a timeline to help him and his crew have those materials to fit both of our schedules. He was present for a majority of the work if not doing it hands on himself. The best thing about working with David is his energy and pride about his work. He'll make it right. Beyond that you always knew where he stood. He keeps the lines of communication open. He always let us know when he was on his way and responded to any of our inquiries. He is always approachable, and his pricing was fair and rational. He definitely has a knack for quickly thinking and conveying the scope of all tasks related to the project. Fast-forward to this past autumn, we had a plumbing issue that didn't damage any of the finished work however a drainage pipe was beneath the new basement floor. We reached back out to David and built a plan for how to pull up the flooring to enable us to work with plumber and concrete cutting in order to replace the faulty pipe. A problem of this nature, communication is key given he had frontend work taking up floor, along with backend floor install, reinstalling doors and touching up areas that were damaged in the concrete dig and plumbing process. On top of that, he came up with a cosmetically creative way for an access to plumbing. He's skilled, detailed, and understands a lot of trades, covering many aspects of the basement install. He was understanding of our situation and needs. This is a story of a leaky shower. After literally years of hiring various well regarded plumbers…read moreand handymen to try to remedy it, it always leaked again - usually in less than a year. When mold showed through the ceiling of the room below the shower and the mold remediation contractor cut through the ceiling it was clear we needed to consider replacing the shower and much of the subfloor. Serious perusing of reviews on yelp led me to JRW. Just one phone call made me hopeful. First they re- grouted the shower pan/wall connection so it could be used until they had an opening in their schedule a few weeks away to replace the shower. Finally the big day came. Joel (the owner) sent me photos (it was a tenant occupied home) everyday and explained every step of the way what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He respected my decisions. He also picked out materials subject to my approval - and I always said yes because his choices were excellent as well as in budget. I had been concerned of the impact of a big project with workers in and out every day for a week or so on the tenants. I needn't have worried, the day after it was complete the tenant emailed me unsolicited and said that the workers did a great job: excellent workmanship, seemed trustworthy, respectful of the tenants and house, cleaned up everything and though they hope no more issues arise, they said if workers are ever needed there again they would hope it's the crew from JRW. Two small issues arose unrelated to this project (sticky door and gutter issue) and Joel took care of them for a minor charge. Most mom and pop landlords will tell you- the dreaded call from a tenant that something is broken causes you a few minutes of angst trying to figure out who to call to get it fixed.
