This place is a dream come true for houseplant lovers and addicts. The greenhouse is worth a trip even if you aren't shopping. It will take your breath away. Pamela is so talented, patient, knowledgeable and creative. I went in with my own pots and she helped me find just the right look for each based on my lighting situation at home. In one of my vessels she created a succulent garden like nothing I've seen before. I can't take my eyes off my coffee table now. My houseplants give me so much pleasure since I no longer have outdoor space in which to grow plants. Pamela gets to know you and will even make a plant fit into a particular pot buy dissecting it. Once in a while a business exceeds all your expectations. Frankly it has only happed 6 times in my life and this place is one of the 6. Gorgeous place with amazing selection. But there is a very rude young man working there. We went to pick out a Japanese maple tree and was assisted by a very rude and impatient young man. Granted everyone else was very nice, I would rather not go back to the place with this rude person around. Not to mention it took them half a day to figure out which one it was and lost my order slip later on. Thank god I kept my receipt. I honestly have wanted to purchase more hydrangea and other items but with this person around I think I will shop around. read more

My children went to Pre-school a couple of miles away, so I would lose myself in this magical place on a regular basis. Lynn, the owner, was always welcoming and interested in know how my kids were doing. Other staff members were knowledgeable and personable. I purchased dozens of unusual Japanese maples, dogwoods, paperbark maples, and other ornamentals. A few years ago, we moved to the south shore making Stonegate a longer trek, but worth it especially at Christmas. They have beautiful ornaments and holiday decorations. Most of the decorations on this tree came from Stonegate. It's a wonderful place to find gifts for loved ones and yourself. read more

The person helped with choosing a Christmas tree was friendly but cashiers were horrible. Speaking loudly and not politely at all.

I spent over $1300 on plants, I was told, and it also shows on my receipt that all plants are guaranteed for 60 days... All but three survived and they're refusing to replace them. Not cool. So much for working with a local smaller family business. Should have went to Home Depot. read more

I have been to Stonegate a number of times. They have a great selection of beautiful pots and unusual indoor plants. I have only purchased large pots to hold existing plant and they aren't cheap, but they are unique and well worth the $$. I've been to a number of greenhouses, and no one has a selection even close. I don't have room for any more plants, but if I did, I would definitely go here first. Their indoor plants are exotic and look healthy. Prices seem in line with those of other greenhouses. The selection of outdoor plants seems somewhat limited but they did have a nice selection of trees and bushes for reasonable prices. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Will be going back this week to find some unusual Xmas presents. read more

This is by far the best plant nursery I have visited. Stonegate gardens spans several acres which are filled with a very well curated selection of flora and fauna I do not see at other nurseries. The customer service is excellent, and the shopping experience is incredibly therapeutic. read more

I bought 3 plants from them. After I got back, I found there are white flies on the coneflower. I rinsed them off and planted in my garden. But then I found the flower petals are missing significantly. I searched the reason, it looks like the plant has been infested with eriophyid mites. Another plant Begonia also shows illness shortly with yellow spots on leaves and leaves are dying. I am very disappointed because I thought Stonegate was a reputable nursery. I am not going to buy anything from them anymore. read more

We bought multiple trees and plants for a significant amount at this place which came highly recommended. 2 of the trees showed signs of illness shortly after we bought them. Very disappointing experience with their customer service. They dont give any warranty on their plants or after sales support. Funny enough they pointed to us to their selection of remedies we could buy to help the trees. This was the first and last time for us at Stonegate. read more

This is a beautiful and comprehensive nursery. Laura is very knowledgeable, friendly, and more than willing to work within your budget. I like the alphabetical organization of perennials and the grounds, which allow you to see how plants might work together. It's a little on the pricey side but the quality is good. So, as the old adage goes, "You get what you pay for..." The local delivery fees could be a little less expensive. Subscribe to the newsletter if you're going to be buying a lot because they often have sales. Great collection of pottery and small house plants, too. Would definitely recommend a trip, if for no other reason than to see beautiful landscaping, buildings, and to get ideas. read more

A+++ for customer service and going above and beyond!! Background: There's a particular kind of sunhat that I love (Wallaroo - Victoria) and they discontinued it in light purple "silver lilac." :-( I started calling around to every store in the state that carried Wallaroo hats to see if anyone had "silver lilac" from before it was discontinued. Some other places said yes, but then through conversation I realized they were talking about "Hydrangea," which is blue, and I already have. Then I called Stonegate Gardens and spoke to Susan, who said they did indeed have "Silver Lilac." I live about 45 minutes from Lincoln so didn't want to make the trip if she was confusing it with "Hydrangea" so I asked her if she was positive it wasn't blue. She offered to take a picture of it and text it to me!! So sweet and generous. Then she called me back because the text wasn't going through, and could I give her my email address so she could email me the picture? I did, and it was indeed "silver lilac" and I just drove there and picked it up and it is perfect. This level of caring is incredible so I had to write them a review - thank you again for your help!! :-) read more

We used Stonegate Gardens for our wedding arrangements. They did such an amazing job with our bouquets, centerpieces, church arrangements, etc. All night people were complimenting on how beautiful they looked! Stonegate was so easy to work with and they made sure everything was perfect/just the way we wanted. I have used Stonegate Gardens for years. They come to my house and fill my pots indoor and outdoor, year-round. Laura consults with me about my garden and they come to my house to offer advice at no charge. They do an incredible job and always stand behind every plant. The two times that plants have died after being planted they jumped to replace them and never give me a hard time. The variety they offer is vast and the service and expert knowledge of new england plants can't be beat. They are not the most inexpensive nursery, but they stand behind every plant sold. Their florist Mark is very talented too. He used to work for Winston but works for Stonegate now and you get Winston-style at half the price. I have their floral service for large and small gathering at my home. I highly recommend them. read more

Stonegate Gardens has been a great asset to me. They did my original foundation plantings when I moved into my home in the late 1990's. At that time they were a new business. They recently redid the foundation plantings in the front of the house to refresh the appearance and manage shrub damage from snow and deer. The results are lovely. The process was so relaxing. Contrary to the above report, prices are in line with competitors, but you get the benefit of supporting a local business who hire in the local community. Stopped by on my way to visit friends and was pleasantly surprised. This place is filled with interesting pots and plants and lots of great gift ideas. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff; they can tell you whether that gorgeous bush will live where you want it to or tell you what are good choices for the spot you have in mind. They have unusual plants and trees not found in most garden centers, and offer smaller sizes of rare trees as an affordable way to have something spectacular at a good price. You have great choices here of lovely annuals and perennials to full range of woody plants- trees and conifers. Even if you don't live nearby, its a great outing, the grounds are lovely. read more
