Service taking my auto payment out late and charging me extra money keeps getting locked out of my account saying invalid

I no longer had my vehicle & had paid 6 months in advance. Request a refund for the 5 months owed after canceling. They lied & said they mailed check to my old address, which wasn't true cuz I still get my mail from there. They said they mail it to my current address which I never received it either. Don't do your insurance with this company, they will just jerk you around & there is nothing you can do about it. read more

I wish I could give this company a 0. I was in a car accident with someone who was insured by Stonegate. The driver took responsibility the day of the accident and the police report stated that as well. The claim was assigned to an adjuster named Christina Finnegan. I had both called and emailed her several times to get information about getting a rental car. After several days had passed, I called the company main line to complain and they transferred me to her, she picked up right away. She stated she was waiting for the police report, which I had a copy of so I sent it to her. She said she would review and get back to me. Several more days passed, I had called and emailed her and again no response. I finally called the company to get connected to her supervisor, Carlos Cordero. I emailed and called him, no response. Then suddenly she calls me back after I call and email her supervisor. She told me that I was approved for a rental car and they accept 100% liability. It had been over 1 week at that point without a car. Also she told me that I had to pay for the car and then would get reimbursed later. When I called car rental places, they all said usually the insurance company calls and makes the reservation. Additionally, none of them had heard of Stonegate. Hertz wouldn't give me a car without insurance booking it but Enterprise did! When Christina called me, I had told her the repair shop I wanted my car taken to and that they would get their tow to come get it. She told me the insurance company would tow it there because they give their tow person cash to pay for storage fees. I had asked her how much the storage fee was and she told me that she had left a message for the tow yard and hadn't heard back from them but it can be 30, 50, 75 per day depending on the company. I happened to go there that day and found out it was $50/day which I emailed Christina, again silence. Fast forward another week, I had called and emailed again for an update. I call her on a Friday, 2 weeks after the accident, to get an update on my car getting towed. To my surprise she picks up. She tells me it's getting towed that day but it doesn't get towed. On Monday, I get a call from her supervisor Carlos saying they can't tow it to my body shop and that they will only cover $35/day, as if it's been my fault that it's been sitting in the lot for over 2 weeks. He also said that the company had additional charges that they will not be paying for, again, as if I chose to tow it there and keep it there that long. I waited 2 weeks just to find out that everything Christina told me was false and that I would have to pay for things. The best part was that they said I had to make a decision that day and they would not pay for my car to sit in the lot after today. Where was this energy the last 2 weeks? I was out of the country on vacation and had to spend half of the day figuring all this out because it "had to be today." After they took their sweet time for 2 weeks not doing anything. TERRIBLE service and they need to get their shit together and be on the same page so they aren't give false information. I kind of want to tell the other driver to switch insurance companies for his sake. I will definitely be making sure that I tell all my family and friends about this experience. I have a vast network/community growing up at an Indian church with over 1,000+ members and work for a huge company with 40,000+ employees. I will make sure everyone is aware not to use this company. I am sure I will have to edit/add more as I continue to work with them, considering my car hasn't even been towed to a repair shop yet! read more

I have been waiting 4 months for my check to be sent for an accident that their customer already claimed was their fault. He has used the same excuse to not call me back twice. He said he didn't have the right number even though I have left it on every message and it is in the claim. I have emailed with no response. I have left a message with his manager that never called me back. I will be calling my insurance to deal with them now. They are a sorry excuse for an insurance company. read more

You will be quoted 1 monthly rate and once you commit the rate is changed. We were originally quoted $175 monthly payments. Our first payment was $225. When I called customer service no one seemed to know what was going on. I have to call them monthly because there is always some sort of issue with my policy every single month. Robert S (claim agent) is very RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and Horrible customer service. You have to call him numerous of times before he returns your calls and he's very nonchalant. I would never refer anybody to this company. The only reason I have to deal with them is because their insurer hit my car. I should have let my insurance deal with them. This insurance company is full of crap. They'll change your monthly payments without an explanation. When u call the corporate office, they don't have a clue to what's going on they'll refer u back to the office that u were making your payments to. Don't get your car insured here. read more

I filed a claim against them 4 1/2 years ago. They are still trying to get out of paying the claim by saying that per their policy if their insured doesn't cooperate then they have the right to deny coverage. But his policy was paid and up to date on the day of the accident. So even if you take it to court they still won't pay. This is the excuse they use to get out of paying claims, from the complaints I read on BBB website. read more

Terrible customer service. No attention to detail. They missed a letter from a collection service because of which now we, the client, are stuck in the middle calling them and the collection company back and forth. The collection service emailed me the letter, showing proof, and now, when I am trying call back to resolve the situation, it seems as if though they left the office early. This situation is creating at least two hours of work for us, trying to do a task that is supposed to be handled by our Stonegate customer representatives. read more

I was in an accident on Jan 29, 2019 and was insured with Stonegate insurance. They took two weeks to do the initial inspection of my car and then had to re-look at again because their third party estimator did not record the mileage on my car. Being as Stonegate only pays $28 per hour labor rate to body shops when the going rate here is $52, I opted to use my own body shop as you don't know how bad the work will be with a $28/hour shop. The third party estimator left many things off the estimate, so I challenged the offer and they then sent one of their estimators out and he found even more damage and declared my car totaled. It took them two months to finally reach this conclusion, meanwhile I had a rental car to get around while waiting for this extremely slow progress. My policy included 30 days of rental car and they refused to cover the other 30 days that it took them to reach a proper settlement. I had to make sure that their offer was fair and included all damages as I was using my choice of body shops and they told me that I had only one shot at getting the settlement, so I had to be diligent and make sure that it was done right or I would have been out even more money. My brother is an insurance adjuster and was looking over my shoulder to make sure things were done right. His company can settle a claim in 4 days at worst and he can transfer the money into the customer's account with his lap top within minutes of reaching a settlement. Two months to settle a claim is outrageous! Stonegate wanted to charge me over $400 to retain my vehicle when going salvage rate is $250. They will try to rip you at every chance that they can. It ended up costing me more money going with Stonegate than it would have cost with a top tier insurance company, so I renewed with a top teir company and will NEVER use Stongate again. I recommend that you don't use Stonegate as they are not a good company to use when you have a claim. Nothing but stalls and delays and it cost me a month of rental car because they couldn't give me a reasonable settlement offer within a reasonable time period. read more

I have had a claim open since February. Stonegate will not cooperate and continues to ask for other items to prolong the process. I am very disappointment and will look elsewhere for insurance. In addition, the rep JERI JAKOB is very rude. Customer service is still alive and well, perhaps they should be better trained. I know it is a difficult industry, I understand, however you still have to speak with your customers as CUSTOMERS with many options for insurance. Their client totaled my automobile. I spoke to a lawyer at length who has experience with this insurance company (which is apparently also known as Unique Insurance). I'm pretty sure I can't use the exact words he chose to describe them on Yelp but he said they only pay on claims of accident damage caused by their clients if you take them to court and that they always insist on a jury trial to make the process as expensive as possible. I did file a claim but their claim adjuster isn't responding to my calls or e-mails, they haven't responded to calls from my insurance company and they have made no attempt to inspect my totaled vehicle which has been sitting in storage for over a month. These guys are known by lawyers and other insurance companies to be very bad news and it's unfortunate that they are even permitted to do business. Their client did over $5000 in damage to my vehicle and sent me to the emergency room and according to the lawyer I consulted, I will likely never see a dime. read more

This company is easily the worst company I've ever dealt with. I was rear ended at a traffic light nearly two years ago by one of their insureds and am now just getting back my deductible ($1000) that I paid out. Despite the accident being entirely the fault of their insured, Stonegate was uncooperative with my insurance company and fought to pay out for the damages. After two years involving arbitration and a settlement hearing which did not resolve the issue, my insurance sued and finally Stonegate relented and paid for the damages. If you have the unfortunate luck of being hit by one of Stonegate's customers, I recommend filing through your own insurance and having your insurance company recover for the damages. I was fortunate to have done this. If you don't, you'll have to deal with them on your own and won't have the resources of your insurance company to help you. I suggest taking pictures of the damages at the accident site. I did not because the other driver admitted fault and it was pretty clear who was at fault. At the time, I didn't imagine Stonegate would be as uncooperative as they were. Even though it was eventually decided in my favor, I've wondered if having pictures would have sped up the process. You should also watch the video link by Samantha J. I know it's about Unique insurance, but you can see that both Unique and Stonegate share the same address and building. I think it'll give you some insight on what type of company you are dealing with. Good luck to you if you are ever involved in accident with someone with Stonegate insurance. We are not insured by STONEGATE INSURANCE out of Chicago, but have had to deal with this company from their insured hitting us. This company is rude, will not call you back, treat you like dirt and attempt to be sneaky. I will never get insurance from them and will tell every single person I can about what a useless, horrible insurance experience we have had twice. From the secretary, Colleen to the adjusters Diane (one of them) themselves. They were ignorantly rude, cut you off where you can not talk, will NOT call back, after numerous messages left. Their insured hit my PARKED car, and they stated they were investigating why they should pay out! This company has a bad reputation and I see why, the employees are jerks and act like God. Stonegate's agents are rude, dismissive, and unethical. One of their insured drivers totaled my car in June, and the police report reflected the accident accurately. Stonegate never called me for my statement--I had to call them to explain what had happened. Despite having a police report, my statement, and an independent witness's statement, Stonegate is still "investigating" liability six months later. My insurance company is pursuing a lawsuit to recover fees, damages, and my deductible. read more

On 5.26.16 a driver for Crescent Movers who is insured by Stonegate Insurance crashed into me. I have attempted to contact Stonegate NUMEROUS times and speak with the adjuster, Jeri Jakob, direct line 773.458.1097 and this individual has not returned ANY of my MANY voicemails and never picks up her line. I hit zero for an operator and am put on hold for long times and never does anyone answer. As recent as today, 6.14.16 I was on hold for over 2 hours, 19 mins before I hung up. This company should not be allowed a license based on how they run their company. As a consumer, I would expect some professionalism. I have no idea how this company has an A+ rating with the BBB...well actually I do...it's because they are accredited, meaning they PAY the BBB money. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, unless you want headaches. read more

I had the misfortune of contacting this company when their insured hit my vehicle. Their customer service is appalling to say the least. The representatives are rude and frequently cut you off when you are speaking. When you file a claim, they cannot give you a claim number immediately (which you need for the adjustor), they ask you to call back later to retrieve it and go through the gauntlet of terrible customer service again, but hopefully you are lucky and you can catch the one individual in the company capable of looking up a claim number before they go to lunch. It appears that if their strategy is to be so impossible to work with that you give up on the claim and just pay for repairs out of your own pocket. I has been a long time since I have encountered a company with such a broken customer handling process. read more

Stonegate Insurance is the most sub-standard insurance company that I have ever worked with. Their insured driver hit our vehicle and gave us their insurance information. It is now been five months and we haven't received a dime. They snub their nose at our requests and claim that it never happened even though we have all of their driver's insurance and registration information and they have none of ours. read more

A family member recently hit a streetlight. No injury to the driver, or anyone else - just the car. Stonegate was quick to have the car towed to the body shop of their choice. The body shop has been extremely communicative with my family, and have an estimate ready to go. They are now waiting on Stongate. After calling and leaving SEVERAL messages the adjuster finally called back. First, he told them that THEY were the ones holding things up because he did not receive their accident report form on time. I'm sure this is an important piece of paperwork, however, had he returned one of their previous calls they would have known this information - or maybe he could have called them to let them know. After all, this is his line of work, and they do not have auto accidents on a regular basis. He now has the paperwork completed, and told them he cannot get out to the body shop for another week to look at the car. This will be week number four! I find this to be completely unacceptable. They have NEVER had an auto claim before, so maybe I don't know what to expect but by the time it will take him to actually get to the body shop, it most likely could have been repaired by now! I'm writing this as they are afraid this small insurance company will take this into account when reviewing their claim. They don't have much of a savings and need their car repaired. Having to leave messages and constantly hound someone that is supposed to be working for you is unacceptable. I have advised them to pay a few dollars more and switch agencies when this policy expires. Anyone else have similar experiences with Stongate Insurance out of Chicago? read more
