Sebasco Harbor Resort - Breakfast buffet

I stayed here with all of my in-laws for a 70th birthday party weekend in August. It was all of our…read morefirst times at a resort like this, and it really does remind you of adult summer camp (kind of like the resort in Dirty Dancing), but in a beautiful Maine backdrop. We rented two cottages--the Water's Edge and the Rockycrest. The Water's Edge was the perfect little retreat for 2 couples with a gorgeous view of the water in the backyard and a prime location. The cottage could have been cleaned with more care (we found some dust and hair on some of the surfaces), but overall was quite lovely. The Rockycrest looked like it had seen better days, was located all the way at the back of the property across the street from the main resort, and the advertised kitchen was quite tiny. So your experience really does depend on the accommodation you reserve. The amenities really make this place quite a treat. The pool is heated and has wonderful views of the ocean. There are pickleball/tennis courts. There are lawn games and a volleyball net. There are bikes to ride for free. At night, there is an arcade and candlepin bowling. There are golf courses to play on (for a hefty extra fee) and motor boat rides to reserve (also for an extra fee). There are also daily scheduled events like tie-dye and make-your-own ice cream. We kept ourselves pretty entertained over one weekend here, and it's a fantastic place to bring kids (most of the people we encountered were here with little kids). The restaurant was surprisingly great. We only ate there for one lunch and all enjoyed our meals, particularly the excellent fish and chips. Breakfast is very expensive, so we didn't partake. Service was a little hit or miss. Check-in was very disorganized, but when we called the front desk to bring up extra items, they were accommodating, and all the staff we worked with were very pleasant. Overall, this was a memorable and fun vacation, and we would come back.

*Long Review Ahead* Please read if you're considering Sebasco…read more I stayed at Sebasco Harbor Resort July 14-16, 2025 during a 9-day road trip with my preteen son. I had high expectations: their website and Instagram portrayed a true resort with amenities like a bowling alley, arcade, pool, and polished dining. I booked a Lighthouse Room thinking it would be the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, what we experienced was not a resort, but a run-down campground with misleading marketing. Check-in & First Impressions From the moment we arrived, the property felt neglected. The reception area had a dead plant shedding all over the carpet, and the staff member checking me in looked unkempt and could not locate my reservation or key at first. There was no warm welcome, no orientation... just a finger pointing down a road. The parking lot greeted us with an overflowing dumpster and swarms of flies. Room Conditions & Safety Concerns Our Lighthouse room (#2) was unsafe and unclean. The card reader on the building was broken, the doorknob to our room was loose, and there was no interior lock. As a single mom traveling with my child, I felt extremely vulnerable. The room itself was dirty: dust and hair on windowsills, bugs on the ceiling, no trash cans, no pillowcases, a sink that barely drained, and bouncy, cheap "campground" beds. Sound traveled so badly through gaps under doors that I could hear neighbors coughing. Service & Dining I had pre-ordered chocolate covered strawberries... instead of the promised "nice handwritten note," they were dropped off with a crumpled Post-it scribble. At dinner, service was poor and the food was low quality... the truffle fries were made with rancid oil. Amenities - Closed & Misrepresented My son was most excited about the bowling alley and arcade. After wandering in the dark trying to find them, my key didn't work and the facilities were locked. Only after repeated calls (with no answer at first) did I learn these amenities are closed Mon-Wed due to staffing. None of this was disclosed on the website nor check in. In reality, many of the "resort" amenities are either unavailable or poorly maintained. Management Response At checkout, I spoke directly with the manager. Instead of empathy or resolution, he brushed off my concerns as "rustic charm" and sorry lack of employees. Rustic charm does not excuse unsafe, dirty rooms and misleading advertising. Despite requesting a partial refund, nothing was offered. Bottom Line & Recommendations Sebasco is not a resort - it is a tired campground charging $300-500/night resort prices. Unless there is a complete overhaul in branding, cleanliness, safety, and employee culture, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Maine has many beautiful, authentic resorts; this is not one of them.

We made the reservation over the phone. I was very excited, because there were so many excellent reviews from others who had enjoyed themselves. We arrived in the late afternoon, and were shown to our room. The grounds of the farm are quite lovely, lots of flowers and veggies. Entering the home, the owner showed us the area where breakfast is served, then showed us upstairs to our quaint little room Now, I understand that B&Bs all have a personality of their very own. The decor and personality of this home was provided by someone who went to every garage sale and estate sale in a tri-county area, and bought up all of the used bedding, towels, and table linens in the 1990s, and has been using them since then. The bed was very soft, like the sort of mattress that one might find in a cheap motel. The towels in the bathroom were of mismatched colors, and rough, oh, so rough. There were signs in the bedroom, the bathroom, and by the front door that instruct you to take short showers and not waste water. I just could not get over how uncomfortable the entire home felt. The walls in the house were quite thin, as I could hear the guests in the room across the hall speaking in hissed whispers as I walked by. If I can hear whispering through the door, imagine what a regular conversation would sound like. But, we made these arrangements in advance, and, what are you going to do. So, we went back into town for dinner, and decided to go back to the farm and relax. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to relax. The bed is uncomfortable, and there isn't anywhere to hang out on a couch. The only place to go is to the main dining area, which also happens to be the only place in the house where the wifi works. The owner's wife had returned, and greeted us. In the meantime, we tried to figure out how to turn on the heat in our room. It turns out that our room is the only room in the house that did not have its own heat controls. I was freezing. We discussed this with the wife. She suggested that we turn the heat up to 60. Really? I am in a fleece, with a hat on and a puffy coat. No, I would like to turn it up higher. Now, she is irritated with me, and tells me that she likes to sleep in a room that is cool, around 55 degrees. We go back and forth on this for awhile. She agrees to let us turn the heat up, but the insists that we absolutely CANNOT open the window. Why, my husband asks. Because it is wasteful. By this time, I have had it. Between the mattress, the rough exfoliation towels, and general uncomfortable nature of the B&B, I just didn't think I could take it anymore. When I travel, I want to be comfortable. If you have a B&B where strangers book rooms and you agree to provide accommodations, I hope that you understand that these people will pay you money, and they will use the heat, use water, and want to be comfortable. The wife was just rude. And, the expectation that we would stay there, not use the heat or the water was just ridiculous. I understand that resources are precious - we are from Seattle, which is the Mothership for recycling and carbon footprint reduction. But this was just unfriendly and ungracious. So, we decided to leave. Upon our departure, the owner informed me that she would be able to evaluate any Tripadvisor review that I might leave, as if she might be able to edit it or change it. Thankfully, they do not require payment up front. I am sure that there is a market for this type of accommodation, but I am not that person. I would NEVER come back here, nor would I recommend. I wish the owners the best, and hope to never see that unpleasant lady again.

I have been to EdgeWater Farm Bed and Breakfast three times in the past three years and I plan to…read morereturn there again next summer. Popham Beach is nearby and between swimming at this beautiful beach and experiencing welcoming and attractive accomodations at the bed and breakfast, this place on the map has become my favorite vacation spot. I love the lush perennial gardens, apple trees, and sweet grassy paths that surround this home. Inside, there is a lively and interesting collection of art and books so if you forgot to bring reading material there is a good chance you'll find something here. The common space where breakfast is served is large, open, and full of light coming in from sliding glass doors. The bedrooms are all painted with an artful flair and with an eye for color and I found my room very comfortable. Bill and Carol are kind hosts ready with suggestions (if asked for) of places to explore whether it is beach or town. And the breakfasts? Really wonderful and fresh as in fresh from the garden. This is a place to come back to, summer after summer--an experience to be woven in with the best of summer memories.
