My husband and I went away for our anniversary. We arrived and were greeted by Bob, the host. We stayed in the Georgetown Suite. The room had a wall of windows that overlooked the cove. It was absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the summer when all of the flowers are in bloom. Bob is a wonderful host and chef! I wish I'd gotten pictures of Saturday's breakfast! It was absolutely delicious. We had buttermilk panna cotta with strawberries and French Toast with bacon. Absolutely delicious! f you are looking for a beautiful, serene, cozy get away close to tourist attractions but far enough away to relax and unwind (or skip the former and stick to the latter!), Coveside is perfect. The property is gorgeous and the inn is comfortable and beautifully maintained. Innkeeper Bob Doucette starts your day off right with a variety of delicious homemade breakfasts, and coffee and tea are always available to take onto the porch or down towards the water to relax. Local restaurants keep you well fed and watered in between other adventures. Bob provides excellent recommendations for both local and not-so-local places. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longe (and that I'm not a very good photographer, my photos don't begin to do it justice)! read more

We stayed at Coveside for five days and had a wonderful time! Bob, the owner, is a warm, friendly, responsive, conscientious, and knowledgeable host. He made an effort to get to know all the guests, and along with maintaining clean and comfortable guest spaces, the breakfasts that he made were wonderfully flavorful and filling. Coveside B&B is made up of two beautiful houses, both with enclosed and open porches, plenty of seating -- Adirondack chairs, rocking chairs, couches and lounge chairs -- and pretty garden spaces. On clear mornings, there can be a beautiful sunrise as you look toward the mouth of the cove. {I kind of kick myself for not taking pictures on what turned out to be our clearest morning during a rainy visit. Sigh...} There's plentiful parking, and there are also kayaks and bicycles that are free for guests to borrow. There's also a game room in a separate building, but we didn't make enough time during our visit to check it out, unfortunately. We stayed in the "Malden" room, which was small but big enough, and which had very pretty views of the cove from windows that stretched across the room and bathroom. The room had a queen bed, a chair, a dresser, a closet, and the bathroom, with a little room to move around -- this was all that we needed, especially with the many shared spaces elsewhere inside and outside of the building. The room also held a robust folder of information about the area. We would (and hopefully will!) definitely stay here again! read more

We had an incredible stay at the Coveside Bed and Breakfast and highly recommend it! It was in a beautiful location with a vast lawn that oversaw the ocean and had scattered Adirondack chairs, hammocks, outdoor seating, and a wonderful view of the sunrise/sunset from the rooms themselves. The host Bob was amazing -- he was warm and welcoming when we arrived, has a vast knowledge of the area which he outlines in detailed binders, and most importantly is an absolutely fantastic chef! The breakfasts were better than any restaurant and made of locally sourced products. The rooms were beautiful and well maintained with AC, and he had bikes and kayaks available to use for free. He also offered to set up games like cribbage and cornhole when he saw we were playing cards, and was constantly trying to improve our luxurious experience. Bob is a very friendly and welcoming innkeeper who has put a lot of thought and effort into providing very comfortable accommodations. Our room, the Kennebec, was wonderful, comfortable bed, beautiful view of the cove and cozy stove for heat and atmosphere! Downstairs there was a lovely living room area with a tv as well as a Keurig coffee maker and an electric tea pot. Breakfast was incredible! The Coveside is located on a peaceful little cove. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and sitting by the fireplace in the common room. Bob, the innkeeper, is a wonderful host and his breakfasts are a foodie's delight! Breakfast was served to us at the table by Bob himself. The shared downstairs living room with gas firestove is excellent for cocktails and snacks and socializing. This B&B was a miracle of a find. My husband and I went here for my birthday week and to go somewhere to isolate during the pandemic. Maine's numbers were down and doing well and luckily they were accepting guests from NY. Bob, the owner of this spectacular B&B was very sweet and accommodating. He didn't meet us when we checked in or say goodbye when we checked out and during this pandemic, this is not a complaint, it's welcomed. He cooked a surprise breakfast every morning. At first I didn't like that we didn't know what we were eating, most B&B's give you a menu or at least write on a chalkboard what the breakfast will be the next day. But, Bob was so nice and breakfast was so delicious that I stopped worrying about it. He did say that if there's something you don't like or eat to let him know. He made lemon pancakes for my bday which were fabulous! I love lemon anything so it was a treat. He would also have some dessert type food or muffins which was delicious as well. We asked to sit outdoors. The rooms were beautiful and the view was breathtaking. We stayed in the pink room in the cottage upstairs and we loved it. Every room in the cottage house had a terrace facing the cove. Downstairs was a lounge with kitchen and an enclosed patio with rocking chairs that were spent a lot of time in. We would bring back our steamed lobsters and eat them in the lounge area that had a dining table. Bob was literally at our beck and call. He would quickly answer all my questions whether I emailed him, called or by text. He also let us use the main house if we needed anything from the kitchen. A little pricy but not really for all you're getting. You won't regret it. Definitely returning. read more

THE VIEW is the draw here. The cove leads to the bay....and the beautiful trees and lawn frame everything else. It's the kind of picture-perfect view that makes you dust off your watercolor paints and channel your inner John Singer Sargent. CAROLYN AND TOM are the other draw. They are fantastic hosts, they are warm and friendly but also know to leave you alone when you want your peace and quiet. They let the wonderful house, the breakfast and service speak for themselves. They're the kind of hosts that 10 of 10 people will say "They were perfect." There are a lot of B&Bs out there that people will say "This place was great BUT..." The reason no one has any caveats when mentioning Coveside Inn is because of Carolyn and Tom. Some other reasons to go... The breakfast makes it a destination itself. Carolyn whips up wonderful fluffy pancakes and bakes amazing muffins along with other treats. Ingredients are always the best of what's around locally and you can taste the love and care that goes into each meal. It has none of the cheesiness of typical bed and breakfasts... the decor is tasteful but still keeping at its country theme. The building is new-ish (10+ years?) and not a historical building but it has all the charms of an old house. Every thing is CLEAN. Nothing looks worn out, rusted or fading. The walking distance Five Islands Lobster Company is the lobster shack of your dreams. It's what you expect it to be in movies or magazines. And the lobsters are good. Really good. No doubt tricked in your brain to think it's better because of this "I'm in a romantic movie shot in Maine" feel. We've stayed many times and we'll keep going back. read more

Bob, the innkeeper was very accommodating and even prepared a fantastic maple themed breakfast after hearing our desire to try all things maple on our Maine trip. The good: the location, house, and grounds were very nice. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The other guests were also pleasant and friendly. The bad: the owners were so cold towards my girlfriend, my 3 month old son, and me, that it left a bad taste. This stems from a miscommunication between the wedding planners and the B&B owners - apparently they do not accept children under 12. They were 'gracious' (note the sarcasm) enough to let us stay after a painfully awkward exchange, but the consequence for us was two nights spent trying to keep my son from making a single sound. Babies should coo whenever they feel like it for God's sake! It was the most tense B&B stay I can imagine. read more

This Bed & Breakfast was recently sold. The new owner, not so good. First when we checked in he was not there to show us to our room. He left a note at the front door and told us where the room was. Did not see him until the next morning. Also there was suppose to be a TV in a room where anyone could watch ( no TV's in rooms), well there was no TV period. Said there would be baked goods all day long, first day no baked goods. The breakfasts were just OK. I do not think crab cakes are a breakfast item, also eggs wrapped in very salty Italian ham is disgusting. read more

The Coveside Inn is an amazing bed and breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay here you are in for a real treat! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we had so much room. My husband and I simply enjoyed sitting on our balcony and watching and listening to the sounds of nature. It is truly spectacular and so relaxing. Tom and Carolyn were fabulous hosts. The breakfasts that they came up with each morning were so delicious. We didn't want to leave! A nice, quiet place on the water, great for relaxing after a family wedding weekend. Breakfast served at our outdoor table was delicious and hearty. Our large room had a comfortable bed, its own balcony and was lovely. Homey touches included a sitting area outside our room with a fridge and coffee making supplies. The main inn also has free cookies all day! Only small flaw was that we could hear all noises from the room above us. There were boats for use on the bay although we weren't there long enough to use them. Very pleasant inn owners, who were on their last day before the new owners took over. read more

Tom and Carolyn were gracious enough to offer us a room when we were 30 minutes away from their place. What a wonderful B & B! Packed with books, TV far, far away in the exercise room, LL Bean bikes and helmets to borrow, super clean, fabulous food, anytime snacks and beverages. We went ahead and booked a large suite, so we had a lovely balcony, wood stove, king sized bed, couch, etc. Highly suggest and hope to return with our kids someday. This was our first B&B experience and what a great choice! Carolyn and Tom are wonderful and interesting people and innkeepers with a wealth of information on recommendations for everything from hiking and site seeing to best ice cream in main and great restaurants for dinners. More than enough to do in the nearby areas of Bath without going into the much more commercial Boothbay area. The room was wonderful, the breakfasts were superb and I'm not even a huge breakfast person, but everything was really excellent. The other guests were all interesting to talk with and we left after 3 nights feeling that we'd come back anytime! I'd highly recommend this to anyone wanting a great B&B experience in Maine! (Oh, and Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick is some of the best I've tasted anywhere - thanks for that recommendation Carolyn!) Hope to return in the future! read more

The building is amazing! It is on the bay, has a great view, landscaping is set in a very peaceful way, rooms are nicely and comfortably decorated. The breakfasts from Carolyn are ' to die for' with a new menu each day. I love the home and the location!! We felt like outcasts during our stay. We were positioned, for breakfast, at separate tables, we asked for water 1/2 the time during our stay and never received it. It was clear to us that if you are not a New Englander and of the retirement age, you were not part of the 'crowd'. It made me feel quite uncomfortable so we didn't spend much time there. Other things to note: There are no TVs in the rooms, but one is available, WIFI and phone service is sketchy. Breakfast is 8-9, so late sleepers may miss it. The guest fridge is nicely stocked with Coke products and beer. Carolyn makes fresh cookies each day and makes them available. New owners are taking over at the end of the month. I cannot speak to how they will do things. Even though the place is amazingly beautiful, we would not stay there again and do not feel we got the value for our money. read more

My wife and I stayed at Coveside B&B for two nights and we had a great experience. The location is phenomenal, as the name suggests it's right on a quiet cove with a great view. We brought kayaks and it's an easy place to launch from into Sheepscot Bay. The owners of the B&B, Carolyn and Tom, were really great too. Very friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts we had each morning were very good and very well prepared. A jar of fresh baked cookies to snack on during the day was a treat as well. I would definitely recommend Coveside if you're looking for a great and charming place to stay in Maine. read more
