one of Bob's amazing breakfasts! Not pictured: fresh, oven-warm blueberry muffins!

We had an incredible stay at the Coveside Bed and Breakfast and highly recommend it! It was in a beautiful location with a vast lawn that oversaw the ocean and had scattered Adirondack chairs, hammocks, outdoor seating, and a wonderful view of the sunrise/sunset from the rooms themselves. The host Bob was amazing -- he was warm and welcoming when we arrived, has a vast knowledge of the area which he outlines in detailed binders, and most importantly is an absolutely fantastic chef! The breakfasts were better than any restaurant and made of locally sourced products. The rooms were beautiful and well maintained with AC, and he had bikes and kayaks available to use for free. He also offered to set up games like cribbage and cornhole when he saw we were playing cards, and was constantly trying to improve our luxurious experience. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return!

This B&B was a miracle of a find. My husband and I went here for my birthday week and to go somewhere to isolate during the pandemic. Maine's numbers were down and doing well and luckily they were accepting guests from NY. Bob, the owner of this spectacular B&B was very sweet and accommodating. He didn't meet us when we checked in or say goodbye when we checked out and during this pandemic, this is not a complaint, it's welcomed. He cooked a surprise breakfast every morning. At first I didn't like that we didn't know what we were eating, most B&B's give you a menu or at least write on a chalkboard what the breakfast will be the next day. But, Bob was so nice and breakfast was so delicious that I stopped worrying about it. He did say that if there's something you don't like or eat to let him know. He made lemon pancakes for my bday which were fabulous! I love lemon anything so it was a treat. He would also have some dessert type food or muffins which was delicious as well. We asked to sit outdoors. The rooms were beautiful and the view was breathtaking. We stayed in the pink room in the cottage upstairs and we loved it. Every room in the cottage house had a terrace facing the cove. Downstairs was a lounge with kitchen and an enclosed patio with rocking chairs that were spent a lot of time in. We would bring back our steamed lobsters and eat them in the lounge area that had a dining table. Bob was literally at our beck and call. He would quickly answer all my questions whether I emailed him, called or by text. He also let us use the main house if we needed anything from the kitchen. A little pricy but not really for all you're getting. You won't regret it. Definitely returning.

Great place to stay. Free state park pass, which you should use. Probably the best pancakes I've ever had.

It's a gorgeous location and a perfect place for an ocean-front wedding, which appears to be one of its draws. The driveway leading to the house is lined with white hydrangea trees and the gardens are filled with flowers and lily ponds. Our 2nd-floor room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated (every guest room has a theme AND an ocean view) and we fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky shore below. Penny is the perfect hostess -- she had a bottle of wine and two glasses waiting for us when we arrived and a list of local restaurant menus for us to peruse. She's friendly, professional and doesn't hover. Breakfast was MUCH better than I've come to expect at most B&Bs -- piping hot, delicious French toast with bacon, blueberry muffins and fresh fruit salad. Penny's 9-year old grandson gave us a tour of the grounds and provided a bit of history as well (he's the great, great, great grandson of Walter Reid, the donor of spectacularly pretty Reid State Park, just down the road from the inn.) Unfortunately, The Mooring's website doesn't begin to do justice to the lovely house, gardens and ocean views. It's a shame, because The Mooring is a great getaway, not too expensive and close to both Bath and Portland if you're in the area.

Rooms are beautiful, beds are very comfortable, and there's a ton of indoor and outdoor common space. John and his staff were so nice (Jackie was out of town, but sounds like she's great too) and we and our friends instantly felt at home. It's well worth the price, which is very much on par with other places in the area that aren't nearly as beautiful, comprehensive, or welcoming. I added a photo from first thing in the morning. I got up, grabbed some coffee and homemade granola with yogurt and fresh fruit and went and sat on the deck overlooking the river. Such a great way to start the day. A little hint - when you call to book, don't be put off by how laid-back they are about the reservations. I don't think they asked for any money up-front to confirm or anything. Being 'city-folk', we found this a little scary, but they are on the ball. Don't worry! There's a lot to do in the area, too, if you like the outdoors - go down to Popham Beach and take a walk, visit Fort Popham, grab lunch or dinner at Spinney's, hike one of the many trails, bring a bike and tackle the windy, hilly Parker Hill Road, or pop into Bath if you want a little more (but not too much) action. We'll go back for sure. Would love to visit in another season.

They bend over backwards to try and make your stay memorable. The inn is a wonderful old Phippsburg home and has many different rooms you can stay in. The beds and linens were divine, the bathrooms more humble of the rooms I crept into to have a discrete look. Our room the Woodshed was an.....old woodshed! It overlooked the water, and the early morning brought....SILENCE! Wonderful....no noise, little light...thus we snoozed for ages.....and did other things in complete privacy.....but none of that is your business!!!!! The breakfast time is flexible, the food served satisfying and fresh. We had fresh scrambled eggs with ham mixed in, started with greek yoghurt and fresh berries...but you could choose from many items. Now onto the tea.....being a fellow innkeeper (who's standards are demanding!!!!) and BRITISH....I am VERY demanding on my morning cuppa....and they delivered! The home is impressive and Phippsburg and Bath in general are not like Camden....over developed and touristy. You can cycle from their inn to Popham beach and fort...where there is a great restaurant, not fussy, serving fresh lobster (out of the tank in front of you!) and a plethora of other dishes. John & Jackie the innkeepers try to please in a quiet and relaxed way, are not over burdening, and take pride in their home....but do welcome one to use many parts of it. The setting overlooks the water and is next to a church....I could go on....but won't....just get yourselves booked in when you are 'doing' the Maine coast.

Oh & sunsets? Outstanding! Our first moments at Grey Havens were so warm & welcoming. Actually even before arriving, calls with innkeepers, Ali & Carlos, had us beyond excited for our initial stay. I say initial because of course we definitely will return & soon I hope! I could list endlessly all the delightful elements that the Grey Havens team have combined to create a place in which one can truly & gloriously unwind. From the lovely & cozy guest rooms to the gorgeous bay-windowed common room (with its stunning actual bay-view) the vibe is marvelous. Grey Havens feels quintessentially seaside Maine with just the barest but perfect touch of some lovingly placed & demure whimsy to intrigue a curious eye. Our initial stay dates did not overlap with Blue's calendar, sadly. However the many tales we heard of Chef Esau's creations have us drooling in anticipation. We will ensure we enjoy a dinner at Blue upon our return to Grey Havens.
