It is a little hard to find, with some road construction on Piedmont, but the provided instructions were accurate- second house north of 8th, drive slightly obscured by a phone pole. This home is exquisite! I particularly liked entering from the back porch side and being greeted as it immediately gave the mind-set of, "Welcome." And soon after, "Welcome Home." The grounds gardens are an English garden oasis in this Midtown section. The property sits far enough off of Piedmont so that the city noise and traffic is hardly noticeable, yet you are only a couple of blocks from the park and some great restaurants. Everything is wonderful, from the gardens to the architecture and modern upgrades (our shower with ceiling and side wall heads), pasties, snacks, soft drinks at the ready, down to the smaller details like triple sheet bedding and French coffee pressed morning brew. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our host, Judy, was very personable and we connected with her immediately, especially in discussing our shared faith. The porches are spacious, quiet, and if desired, heated. Breakfast is served at a community style table, which also turned out to be pleasant, simply because the type of patron to this particular sort of inn (Select Registry) must have something in common! In fact, a young couple also staying here unexpectedly showed up at a folk concert we also attended in Kennesaw (25-30 miles North) at a community Church. I believe there are eight rooms in the main house, each with a private and spacious bathroom. Personal entry codes are provided and activated during your stay. We stayed here for one night traveling through Atlanta. What a spectacular experience. The home is beautifully decorated with lots of attention to detail in everyway. In our room was a filled ice bucket, water and delicious brownies under a glass dome. The home's surrounding gardens are gorgeous which was perfect to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. My biggest recommendation is to stay in a room in the main house, versus the newly built cottages on the property. The main house has the authentic feel that matches the property, and was the vibe we were looking for. It's also beautiful. The cottages didn't really blend with the feel of the rest of the property. I went here on a book tour 4 years ago. We stayed 2 glorious nights. It's on a big hill but we were able to drive up the driveway and park in the lot in back. Our suite was on the first floor with a full shower with a seat and a jacuzzi. Very special sheets on a high bed. I was able to check out the empty rooms upstairs. So the breakfast was amazing and they offered desserts on the buffet at night. This spot is near great restaurants. An Irish pub the first night and Italian the second. A great breakfast spot that is the place to see and be seen. All these within walking distance for everybody but us. Just perfection. read more

The only problem is that one wants to spend limited vacation time hanging out at the house--huge library, wonderful 'front porch,' from which one can enjoy a spring thunderstorm or a takeout supper; a music room with a piano, a second, cozier porch in back. I'm a Georgia girl and always will be. Even though I live in Vegas. After being away for about eight years, my mom and I decided to make a trip back and visit some old haunts and friends that still lived in Atlanta. I'm a major fan of cool discount travel... Jetsetter, Groupon, Living Social; that kind. I found an AMAZING deal for a suite here and after checking reviews, decided to go for it. Not only was it a great price for a really perfect location; it was also the biggest room in the house! And by house, I mean house. It used to be a house. We got here WAY early since we took the redeye but the owners were awake and cooking so they let us in, took our bags, and told us as soon as our room was open, they would bring our bags to our room. The house is GORGEOUS. We did some sightseeing (my version, which included a one hour drive to the sticks) and came back after check-in. There is never a lack of food and refreshment in this B&B. And the term B&B is kind of loose. It's like an upscale boutique/B&B. It has all the quaintness of a B&B and all the conveniences of a boutique hotel (and the cool factor). The innkeeper (Caroline, such a sweetheart) bakes some awesomeness every single day and puts it in the dining room for guests. There is a fully stocked cupboard in the parlor with drinks and cookies. Upstairs there are fixings for coffee and tea. There are books and movies scattered around. And unlike a regular B&B, the bathrooms are severely upgraded (and not the shared kind). Breakfast was an explosion of flavor (my attempt to sound really really pretentious but it was true) and we didn't feel forced to mingle with the other guests (even though we did). The location was perfect for us (right down the way from the Margaret Mitchell House and a Marta station); however, the house is a bit difficult to find. It is in a fairly residential area and everything with the word Piedmont gets confusing. Even for a former local. The house is also by Piedmont Park and a long-ish but beautiful walk from Virginia Highland. I absolutely adore this B&B and would love to stay here again next time! read more

I love love love Stonehurst Place! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Piedmont room last night while staying in Atlanta on our way to North Carolina. The managers, Grace and John were extremely kind, sweet, fun, and welcoming and they shared with us the interesting history of Stonehurst. As someone who loves art, I was especially excited when John showed us the original Andy Warhol pieces hanging in the rooms as well. The bed, shower, robes, and heated towels were so nice and comfy, and the personal fireplace in our room made our stay extra special and warming. This morning, Grace made us a delicious two-course meal, and was kind enough to make mine completely vegetarian. I highly recommend staying at Stonehurst-- we will again! read more

Such a great stay and it went way beyond my expectations. The price point was comparable to the hotels nearby but I chose this instead of a hotel based on the great reviews and because breakfast was included. We stayed in FARNSWORTH and it was very comfortable. They think of everything. Towel warmer, makeup (black) face towel, phone charger station on nightstand, chocolate on pillows, robes, the most comfortable mattress, water carafe, soft sheets (which I ended up purchasing) & plush pillows. I love that they provide BEE KIND products! There are quirky interesting books everywhere and I wish we had more time so I could check them all out. There's a wine cabinet with snacks and drinks. Breakfast was divine and made to order so you tell them what time you'd like to have breakfast and if you have dietary restrictions and they'll have it ready for you in the morning. There's coffee/tea and mimosa as well. The couple that runs the place is so friendly, they gave us a hug upon leaving. The home has a lot of history, and it's been remodeled really well so the floor isn't creaky and they use nice hardware. The shower was great. It was nice and quiet so we slept really well. There's a Tesla car charger in the front parking area. Location is excellent & walking distance to Corepower yoga and a ton of restaurants. Would definitely stay here again! read more

I love love LOVE this place!! I usually never like to repeat places but I can't wait to go back here. Where do I even start! We got the master bedroom, and the room is beautifully decorated, comfortable, the shower is like, HEAVEN. I have never seen a shower like that and I have been to a lot of places!! When they give you a walkthrough make sure you ask about the shower features so you can enjoy it all! The breakfast is SO NICE! They serve it to you one course at a time - and they were completely accommodating with my lactose intolerance. Each course was amazing. And the coffee was amazing too (French press!). We ate our breakfast in our room, with full service, mimosa, and next to our own little fireplace. It can't be more romantic. The location is great too - lots of awesome restaurants nearby. Your stay also comes with free parking, and there's even a place for charging Tesla. The yard is beautiful too, with a fountain, rocking chair front porch, a screen porch on the side, and lots of flowers. The only thing is that the driveway is tricky to find. When you see a telephone pole where your GPS tells you you are near, that's the driveway you need - literally next to the telephone pole and it's not clearly marked - just trust me. :-) read more

This is, without question, the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Wow, where to start... This is a six bedroom hotel, steeped in history. I cannot do the story justice, but a classic historic building renovated to the highest standard. Its beautiful and it's real, the furniture is all original, there are several works of art. The architecture is masterful with beautiful lounges scattered front and back, upstairs and downstairs. i love the way that beautiful restored beauty segways perfectly into modern convenience. 100Mb free WiFi, showers that measure 64 square feet (seriously) with overhead rain nozzles, 2 dimensional wall showers. It's like being in a personal carwash. Amazing, huge air-bubble tub as well!, multichannel satellite TV, DVD players, free DVD libraries. Food - wonderful home cooked breakfasts that are hand crafted and varied everyday Treats - Pastries and snacks and wine bottles scattered around the lounges, all inclusive, Bed - I spend $8,000 at home on a TempurPedic bed at home, I don't know what these are, but they are as every bit as good (maybe better-gulp) Staff - Impeccably elegant service. I'm not kidding it's like being welcomed into a home. Is this really a hotel? I feel conflicted about this 3 star rating. Although the customer service was superb, the room that I reserved left something to be desired for the $400 that it cost. My wife and I were visiting for our 2 year anniversary and I reserved the most expensive room because of the added bonus of the fireplace. When we got there however, the fireplaces were down for the season which was not listed on the website. There were also some pretty obvious stains and a few flying insects in our room and curtains that were so difficult to close that our hostess even mentioned it. We did meet some interesting people and although I don't play, the piano downstairs was a beautiful touch. read more

Without doubt, Stonehurst Place was my go-to place for a nice break from all the chaos of the Atlanta traffic. I would even recommend it to friends. The rooms are spacious and well appointed; the snacks available throughout the day are delicious (as is the breakfast, and parking is ample (which is important especially in Midtown). I was getting ready to chose a hotel in Atlanta for an upcoming trip, and almost booked this place. Then I remembered, the lady host's behavior on my last trip there. Unfortunately, I hate being that guy, but on this trip her true colors came out. I mistakenly left my key at a restaurant in Buckhead. When I got back to the hotel after slugging through 30 minutes of dense Atlanta traffic, I lugged my files out of the car (dripping in sweat) when I realized that I couldn't get into the place. My key wasn't in my pocket. I thought, darn, no big deal, it's a B&B, they have plenty. Well, it was. She went from hostess-with-the-mostess, to a solid nine on the visibly annoyed scale after I just said "hey, I forgot my key, can I get a new one?" I'm a very relaxed guy, so was taken back by this curtness. She said, um, "no" you'll need to get that other key or we'll charge you (some exorbitant price I'm the hundreds of dollars to make a new one (and even change all the locks in the building, really?) and acted as if she was doing me a favor letting me back in a room that I paid over $300 for. She said the total fee I'd have to pay would be hundreds of dollars. Strange. I laughed, assuming that she was joking (surely), and said "oh, this must happen all the time, I'm so sorry." She said tersely: "no, it does not". Wow! Of course, I had a meeting to go to that evening, so I had to drive all the way back up to the Buckhead restaurant, find parking in nightmarish Atlanta rush hour and get back. And of course, I was late to the meeting. My colleagues were shocked too. The man is nice; the woman, well, watch out for her, she has sharp fangs at worst, and at best, just lacks finesse when it comes to treating customers, and there are much better ways to handle this, i.e., have multiple keys made (because I surely can't be the first to forget a key?). Plus, a host should notice that I was dripping in sweat, and paid more attention when I said I didn't have time to drive up to get the key due to my meeting. In any event, if you want true class, steer clear. Note to the innkeepers, keep up with your manners. I won't be staying here again, third time is not a charm. read more

Everything was excellent - beautiful inside and out. From the moment you drive up the manicured driveway you are treated to high quality at every turn. Landscaping was inspiring, as was the fact that this home is a historical landmark. The bathroom in my room, the Farnsworth, was just remodelled and pristine. The bed was probably the ...most comfortable I've been in - those SHEETS! I loved the fact that they took care to be as green as possible, but without sacrificing the feeling of luxury. The descriptions of the decor (tidbits about photos on the wall, chandeliers, etc) made you aware of the attention to detail. I loved the gourmet breakfast (crab egg benedict) and the treats available in almost every room. Location was perfect for me. I highly recommend this BnB and hope to stay there again. read more

Beautiful, excellent place. Far exceeded our expectations. First, the bed is not your typical hard as a brick hotel bed. It was top notch and so comfortable. The bathroom was amazing...heated tile and heated towel rack. Amazing jacuzzi tub with a faucet head attached. And a HUGE shower with about 5 different shower heads...so much nicer than a hotel. The personal touches and ammenities make all the difference. I think the best part was the breakfast. Everything was from scratch and unique...the service is so personable too. We decided to treat ourselves to a night at the Stonehurst Place when we were in town for a concert. I knew of the place from visiting friends from TX staying their a couple of years ago. We stayed in the Master Suite which was spacious, well appointed, and beautifully decorated and furnished. Our suite had an amazing bath with a huge freestanding jetted soaking tub and a shower big enough to hold a crowd with several individual shower heads, including a relaxing rain head shower. Grace and John were responsive in our booking process, gracious in welcoming us, sharing history of the home and the amazing art collection, and made sure we had what we needed. Breakfast we delicious and we met another couple from Atlanta celebrating their anniversary staying there for the 3rd time, and other guests from Ohio, Chicago and Europe. Funny thought, the home seemed like to was all ours, it's so quiet. Definitely recommend this as a must do for those that love small, unique Inns and B&B's as opposed to larger hotels. I have stayed at Stonehurst Place 4 times for business. The first 2 times were with the previous innkeepers, and the last two times were while Randy and Steve have been running Stonehurst. To say Randy and Steve make the experience of staying at Stonehurst would be an understatement. You instantaneously feel like like a family member and a long time friend when you stay there. They were incredibly attentive, especially in accommodating my food allergies. The short 10 minute walk to Piedmont Park was a nice surprise and great restaurants were only a 2 minute walk away. The rooms were very private and had I not seen the other guests, would never have known they were there. Parking was onsite at no cost.
