We were excited for our weekend getaway at the Inn at Serenbe, just outside Atlanta. The drive was filled with laughter and stories. When we arrived, the beautiful scenery welcomed us. The Inn featured charming buildings surrounded by green hills, and the friendly staff made us feel at home. After dropping off our bags in our cozy room, we explored the trails. The fresh air and sounds of birds created a peaceful atmosphere. We hiked a nearby trail, enjoying the colorful autumn leaves while spotting different plants and animals. For lunch, we enjoyed delicious farm-to-table dishes at the Inn's restaurant. In the afternoon, the adults had massages at the spa, while the kids joined an arts and crafts workshop, making fun art pieces. That evening, we gathered around a fire pit, watched the sunset, and roasted marshmallows for s'mores. We shared stories and laughed together. Later that night, we enjoyed star gazing on our balcony, wrapped in blankets. The next day, we visited the local farmer's market and picked up fresh produce and treats. The kids sampled snacks while we gathered picnic supplies. Afterward, we hiked in a nature preserve and found a beautiful pond where the kids spotted frogs. We had our picnic by the water, savoring our food together. As our getaway ended, we felt closer as a family. The Inn at Serenbe provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and bonding. My husband stayed here during an interview in Atlanta. The staff was so nice and attentive. They had chocolate cookies waiting in the room. The property is huge with multiple different options for rooms. I would guess they have multiple weddings and other celebrations here. Have been coming to the Spa at Serenbe for a few years and sometimes stop at the Farmhouse restaurant for lunch and dinner. Both are wonderful. Hubby got me a Treat Yourself package from the Inn which includes two nights at the Inn, spa treatments, breakfast both days, dinner credit, an outstanding take home bathrobe, a book, and lots of other wonderful amenities, including a butler! I had Pablo and he was outstanding. He set out treats me for every day, including my favorite pink bubbles, ran me a bath both days, and went above and beyond! Pablo is the best there is! I enjoyed many of the amenities, including both pools and hot tubs, the labyrinth (a meditative exercise in patience that was great!), and walking the beautiful grounds. My dinner on the last night at the Farmhouse was a delight! The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious and the butter. THE BUTTER. So good! It was a wonderfully peaceful trip. Highly recommend. I really enjoyed my stay at the Inn, we stayed in the main house the room was super clean, it smelled great, they had spa music playing throughout the property and in the room when we got there. The cookies were amazing, the front attendant helped us with our luggage and even got us an extra luggage rack. She said the cookies were amazing and we had FRESH made cinnamon apple cookies with real apples inside of it, they were so good!! The property itself is very quiet and relaxing, if you need a day away from the city that's slower and quiet then this is the place to be. The only problem we had with the room was a sort of knocking noise that seemed to be a pipe, it didn't bother me very much but it could disturb you if you can't sleep through noises, we did inform the front desk and they said they'd have someone look at it. On the property itself are horses, animals you can feed for free, walking trails, 2 pools (one adult, one family), hot tubs, a restaurant and many other places to relax it was amazing. read more

The Inn at Serenbe is a historic family farm that has been transformed into a luxurious getaway that's the perfect destination from Atlanta! We stayed in the main farmhouse that boasts a king-sized bed, bay window, and all the bells and whistles! The Inn at Serenbe has a country feel starting with the gardens, wrap around porch with rocking chairs, and even an adult pool! Exploring the grounds around the Inn, you're greeted by a lake with canoeing, horses, an animal farm, and even a stone labyrinth. It's amazing! The Inn Rooms are spread out through the grounds of the property and throughout Serenbe, you can stay in the farmhouse like we did or in cabins, by the lake, or even in town! Our room was a very large, long bedroom with a comfy, large bed. Opposite the bed was a large bay window where we could sit and watch people roam the gardens right from our window. They had a large desk with two cookies and glass water bottles, as well as a very large walk-in closet with soft and fluffy robes. The bathroom was spacious and glistening white with two vanities, a walking shower/bathtub combo. Plus, the keys were so cute! A cow bell! The Inn also offers a big, beautiful country breakfast with AMAZING biscuits, French toast, eggs, bacon, oatmeal spread, and more. This out of the Farmhouse at Serenbe that offers a delicious lunch and dinner. Around the Inn at Serenbe is a beautiful, sweeping landscape of lush rolling hills and farmland. One of our favorite spots to start with is the garden! Literally outside our window in our Inn room, the garden is where they grow the vegetables and other things for the restaurant, Farmhouse at Serenbe. Out back of the main farmhouse building at the Inn, is a large, HUGE, wrap around porch with rocking chairs, and several firepits for cool nights. Next to the firepit area is the adult-only pool, while the kids pool is right beside guest check in, but both are luxurious and large. They have a play area with a tree house, bocce, and giant chess for the kids. Outside the immediate grounds is their petting zoo and animal farm! When you stay at the Inn, you can get free feed for the goats. You can take a walk around the farm pins and see pigs, donkeys, goats, cows, sheep, and more. Then, down the pathway are two destinations to explore, the pristine lake, stroll over it or go canoeing! Just beyond the lake is the bonfire area, artwork dotted throughout the woods and grounds, horses, and you should go see the stone labyrinth. OMG! I am speechless! This place is absolutely amazing! I don't even know where to begin. I decided to do something special for myself as I have had a really tough year. I purchased the treat yourself package which I will highly recommend. It is 100% worth it! It comes with spa service, robe, yeti water bottle, 2 night stay, welcome bottle of wine & charcuterie board, dinner credit, bonfire & s'mores, and a couple other things. The service was immaculate!!! The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms are beautiful and unbelievably comfortable. They had so many cute special touches that I truly appreciated. I am definitely making this an annual thing and encouraging my family and friends to come here as well. It was everything I was looking for and needed. I had to leave a review about the absolutely amazing time my husband and I had at Serenbe! There was not one person from arrival that didn't provide exceptional service! I've stayed at many places and by far this is now my favorite (which use to be the Ritz-Carlton lake lake Oconee). Bethany (bartender), William (server), Edgar (concierge), Casie (sales manager), Heather (yoga Instructor), Bralien (guest services) and Bradley ( Somalia) were all a joy to experience. I Serenbe and all of its Utopian fell. I have had the opportunity to eat in town at the Hill, the Blue Eyed Daisy and visit the general store. We stayed in the Guest House and had all three rooms so had the entire converted barn to ourselves. The house has a living room, small dining area and small kitchen. It's a 4 bath 3 bedroom home but one of the rooms as three beds and could fit 3+ on it's own. The garden for the restaurant at the Inn is right outside of the Guest House, as is the pool. You feel like you have your own garden and pool! They have golf carts that you can rent to drive into town to visit the shops and restaurants. The Inn services a nice complimentary full breakfast every morning with several options to choose from in addition to an upscale continental offering. I would love to go back and stay s few more days. Love this place!!! read more

Tried the lunch at the Inn a few weeks ago. Drinks; sparkling water, and a bottle of champagne. Food ordered for two; cobb salad, both entrees fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Champagne was not chilled, brought out two glasses of champagne while the bottle chilled. 30 minutes later, the salads and food arrived at the same time. Asked them to take the food back so we could eat the salad. Once finished the salad, the food arrived. The chicken was hot and very tasty. The mashed potatoes were ice cold. The green beans were almost brown and limp (over cooked). The service was very good but the kitchen/cooks, not very good. Three stars instead of two in hopes they correct the kitchen. read more

Came to stay Nov 3rd thru 6th for a retreat and it was like a dream. Some of our party stayed at the Inn, some stayed at the Treehouse. We had a bonfire, went horseback riding, did the Labrynth at sunrise, sat by a pond, and had dinner under the stars. The staff was great, easily accommodating our groups various early arrival times. The property & community overall is gorgeous. There are 2 pools (that we saw), lots of horses & another area with various animals. We stocked our fridge with drinks from Bamboo. Dinner under the Stars was INCREDIBLE, and gorgeous. Coming back in the Spring for sure! read more

We had a very nice stay here this weekend. we absolute loved spending a ton of time outside enjoying nature and the farm animals. It's such a great environment - horses, goats, sheep- just so much fun. There are many spots to sit and enjoy the birds and such. The room was quite comfortable and very clean. The Inn at Serenbe is amazing! Went here for a friends' wedding, and is a model of southern hospitality. We had a rehearsal dinner here, and it was amazing. There were plenty of veg friendly southern dishes to accommodate myself and the other few vegetarian friends that were there. The animals are also a wonder, trails for walking, and the the whole space was very friendly for both families and adults. The sheep and goats are A+! Shout out to Kimberley for being a great staff member, but every staff member here was dope af. Highly recommended! Plus, grab their killer breakfast. This joint knows how to make a mean biscuit, and by mean, I mean it's like the food of Gods. For real. read more

I have been wanting to go to Serenbe since I read an article in the NYT a little over 5 years ago. Finally made it happen and wow! If you want a taste of utopia, come here!! I can't say enough about this experience. Prior to arriving, the staff was in constant communication - helping set spa appointments, real estate tours and dinners. We arrived to incredibly sweet staff members and a little surprise of fresh chocolate chip cookies in our room. We fed the animals, took the golf cart around town, had an amazing dinner and even cozied up to an outdoor bonfire to roast marshmallows. Prior to leaving we were fortunate to meet the visionary behind Serenbe, Mr. Nygren. He was so kind....which really made the experience that much better. Serenbe is a place I have never heard of before this weekend trip away. This is even more surprising given I grew up in McDonough Ga which is only about 20 minutes away. The development is quite the operation and one that has a long history that started with a single idea to create a community that functions as a self sustaining island within the outskirts of Atlanta. It is the brainchild of developer Steven Nygren. Many in the area may also recognize his name and resume as a restauranteur. I even ran into him on one of our golf cart outings and can now excitedly check off having a conversation with a billionaire off my list. Preservation and a carbon neutral environment are evident everywhere. Serenbe is a concept that I respect but do not think I could live in forever. The arictecture alone is worth the trip as house viewing by golf cart can serve as a pastime. And there are a lot of golf carts. This is the primary mode of transport within the community. I had mixed emotions the entire trip as isolation and escapement was our goal but after a few days I was ready for civilization again. The Inn is just what I needed. The rustic and comfortable atmosphere fit the surrounding wildlife. It feels like being back at grandmas house only the Inn comes with a restaurant and bar. Our room was large and the bay window with accompanying sitting area was my favorite spot. This created a perfect nook for morning coffee with views of the courtyard. All the staff were pleasant and were eager to help with any request. The outside space has many opportunities for relaxation. The labyrinth (first time getting to use that word in a review, ha!) can teach you a lesson on patience and solitude if you follow the rules. The pool is a great retreat and served as a nice backdrop in juxtaposition with views of free range sheep and a rusted sheet metal barn beyond its reflection. There is also a legitimate bocce court which provided a little relaxing competition in our stress free weekend. These are just a few examples of some of activities you can have on the grounds but a weekend at the Inn can be many things depending on how you want to take advantage of what it has to offer. Overall it was a great stay in a truly unique environment and one I think anyone can benefit from. read more

'It was the worst of times and the best of times' I flew home from a business trip to discover our air conditioning wasn't working and my wife was on the front end of a 36 hour summer head cold. So I called the Inn at Serenbe and told them of our predicament and they made a reservation in Room #4 in the main house. #JuliannWest and the Inn staff made checking in and settling in quick and easy so that we could 'cool down' from the 90+degree beginning to Memorial Day weekend. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to care for us. Then my wife and I both realize that we had not eaten that day, with me traveling and my wife too drained by her cold to think about eating. Problem solved. #NicolausBour, Serenbe's Executive Chef and his outstanding team at #TheFarmhouse led by Chef #DavidGarcia prepared a delicious meal eloquently served by #ClayWebb. We struggled with a sore throats and both of us coughing throughout the night. However at The Inn the personal attention to our needs exceeded all expectations when Chef Bour prepared a homemade tea from fresh ginger root and local honey to soothe the scratchy throats. As we sipped our tea we observed General Manager Juliann West anticipate the needs of other guests. What a great finish to what started out to be the 'worst of times'. Just came back from a 1 night stay at the inn for their spa special. It included 3 services at the spa + 1 night at inn + breakfast + tea time. Cost was close to $800 for 2 people + lunch/dinner expense. It was probably a 3.5-4 star experience. Spa: Was my favorite part. Services and staff were great and everyone was friendly. I got the massage, body scrub and reflexology. Although I found the spa a bit cramped. On Saturday the waiting area was crowded. Who wants to sit should shoulder to shoulder in a robe. They really need a larger reception area and waiting area to make it more serene. In the waiting area the receptionist sits at a tiny checkin table. She should be at a reception booth in my opinion. Inn: Think bed and breakfast. Nothing fancy but clean and nice. Not a 5 star hotel. Breakfast: Was great. You can select from eggs, omlet, French toast and they also had fruit and fresh juices Tea time: Tea time is 4-5p at the farmhouse restaurant. It leaves much to be desired. As another reviewer mentioned it is basically frozen appetizers and potato chips. You know how Costco sells that frozen mini quiches? Yup that's it. It would be sooooo easy to improve upon this! Overall serenbe is a cool place. It's definitely like no place I have been before. Lots of walking and hiking and nature. But they can easily improve upon the experience. It's a high price point and some improvements would certainly help. Add some street lights! The parking lots are so dark you can't see your own two feet. It's dangerous. A fridge in each room would be cool too. More signage. It's hard to your way if you are new to the area. read more

I can't speak to some of the issues other people have had because we stayed here as a group through my company. Overall, great experience with beautiful rooms. The Inn is an absolutely gorgeous old set of buildings. The Inn feels like it was built 100 years ago, and the Inn is clearly well kept. At the same time, the rooms are updated to give the rooms current amenities. The rooms have super high ceilings, beautiful art on the walls, flat screen TVs, and comfortable beds/lounge chairs. At the same time, they preserved the old architecture. Love the ambiance. The set of buildings also includes a restaurant and other amenities. The food at the restaurant wasn't very good, but it's convenient (and this review is only for the Inn). Furthermore, Serenbe as a whole seems like a great place, but Serenbe Farms has its own yelp page, so I will leave a review there. But, specific to the Inn, great experience and I would love to stay here again. read more

Customer service is sorely lacking. Whatever you want the answer is a sweet "no". The tone in their voice does not excuse the nasty staff member. But struggling to carry heavy luggage up a hill because there "wasn't any staff who could help" me while seeing all the empty golf carts parked by "guest services" really took the cake. All I needed was a code to get my car down there or a 2 minute ride with my things. But that was too much apparently. And in all requests, they are certainly not going to go out of their way, no problem solve to try to accommodate. read more

I just had my 3rd stay at the Inn at Serenbe and I can't quite believe I haven't left a review yet! Every time I've stayed at Serenbe, it's felt like I've stayed much longer than the 1-2 nights spent on the property! First things first: join their mailing list! They run specials all the time and honor their specials even if you book earlier than the announced special (I.e. we booked a room for January in October and were able to get the January room deal for 2 nights!). They usually run discounts for Thursday and Sunday stays so ask!!! I've stayed in 3 spots: rooms 8/9 in the main house (more on that in a sec), room 21 in the guest house, and room 24 in Dogwood Cottage. For rooms 8/9 and 24, I stayed with my hubby to celebrate special occasions. We LOVED room 24. It's a spacious, cozy room with an amazing tub and his and hers sides of the bathroom. Sleep quality was amazing in this room! The best part is the screened in porch with outdoor fireplace. We built a fire and enjoyed being outside in the absolute quiet. Even though there were other guests in room 23, we never saw them or heard them. This would be a great cabin to rent for 2 couples because the back porch is shared. It's an easy walking distance to the nightly bonfire and the animals, as well as to the farmhouse/main inn. We took our bicycles with us on this trip and had a great time riding around Serenbe. Rooms 8/9 were a bit less cozy and a bit less Serenbe and I'm not sure I will stay there again. Rooms 8/9 are in the recent addition and are super swank with high ceilings, very neutral interiors, and a marble bathroom. Room 8 smelled a bit funky when we got there but it wore off as the day went on. We had to switch rooms because the hot water was broken and they switched us next door to 9, which was exactly the same except with a MASSIVE balcony, complete with a table for 4 and a swinging twin bed. I also liked that room 9 had louvered blinds - the room was PITCH BLACK at night. If you're someone who needs absolute darkness to sleep, this is room!!! One thing weird in both rooms? The tub is IN the shower. It's modern and sleek and clever but not the most relaxing environment to take a bath. Plus the shower head is small... I really think the thing missing from rooms 8/9 were the cozy feeling of it being Serenbe. Don't get me wrong - these rooms are NICE. I just wanted more farmhouse chic, that's all. Next time I might try for one of the original rooms in the main house, rooms 1-6. One bonus of staying in the Inn is you don't have to drive anywhere if you don't want to. We hit happy hour and then dinner in the farmhouse and walked back to our room. Easy peasy. I stayed in room 21 with my 2 best friends and we had a blast! The room is plenty big for 3 to spread out while extremely cozy. Although there's only 1 bath, there's another full bath right down a half flight of stairs from the room. We had an amazing girls weekend: restorative yoga, fried chicken lunch at the farmhouse, shopping, feeding the animals, high tea and happy hour on the front porch, a swanky dinner at the hil, and crashing a wedding party hosted by the other guests in the Guest House with us. We got amazing sleep too, which, for 3 moms of toddlers was a coup!!! We stayed in January which meant we didn't use the pool, but maybe next time. Guests at the inn enjoy complimentary high tea (thing savory snacks and lemonade) and a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, grits, juice, pancakes) as well as free feed for the animals and the bonfire (pack your own marshmallows - they sell their kits). Happy hour is 4-6 and buy one get one, which is an awesome deal!!! They have amazing cocktails and a wide range of beer and wine. Serenbe is a great get away, if even for a night! read more

We used to stay every summer. The kids would join Camp Serenbe (the most wonderful place around). We started coming more often and, eventually, moved into the community. We had to vacate our home so we booked Mimosa. The memories came flooding back. My son, who was 6yo, on our first visit stretched out all 6'5" of his adult frame across the floor. I might have cried. I'm sitting at breakfast in the Inn Farmhouse. Obviously we eat here often. It's superb. But I haven't had their Bed and Breakfast Breakfast in many years. Farm fresh eggs, perfect bacon, classic biscuits and amazing lox. It doesn't sound fancy but sitting on this old southern porch it is like caviar. Who knew you could stay walking distance from your home and still feel like it's a perfect vacation? Nice job Serenbe Inn! read more

Arriving at night to a place situated in nature, albeit groomed nature, was a bit dark. However, you appreciate that when you see how much you can see the night sky. It is peaceful, quiet and tucked away just outside of a major city.. do not expect to have a brightly lit place. It is a farmhouse in and lovely. Chris, at the front desk welcomed us. He was kind, informative, and friendly. He went out of his way to get everything we needed for a first night. I had very high hopes for the visit. The room was nice with a beautiful balcony and a cool porch swing that really you could sleep on. Great feature. There is not a refrigerator in the room it did have a in-room coffee set up. There is a refrigerator down the hall in the kitchenette that is shared by all the guests. I was disappointed to find that a wellness community like Serenbe, had coffee mate for creamer that was not my expectation. . I also would've expected all the outlets to be working and something for music in the room, I would connect to my phone.The branded water bottles for use while you stay was a nice touch. The room was very clean, the hardware nice. EO Products in the bathroom were appreciated and in line with what I thought that they would have. So somehow the coffee mate creamer was a detail that surprised me, and not in a pleasant way. I also enjoyed that the front desk provided food to feed the animals, that was fun. Serenbe has a rustic, natural feel at the Inn and the Area around it. But, they are missing details that would really pull this place together and make it wonderful. read more

So expensive for poor gross and shabby accommodations but the worst part is none of the five star restaurants could accommodate our small kids and couldn't provide dinner till 8:30 which is after they go to bed. An no room service!!! They told me to call dominos which we ended up doing. They weren't even sorry they are snooty at the front desk and have no customer service skills whatsoever ever. We've been three times and this is the worst yet. You lost a customer for life!! This "hotel" is trash don't waste your money. It's so shabby and not luxurious at all read more

Had the opportunity to stay at the Inn at Serenbe this week for a CREW Atlanta retreat. It's definitely a hike from the city and off the beaten path, but that is a huge part of the charm and allure. The grounds were well kept and there are plenty of surprises to be found when walking around - an in ground trampoline, a life size chess set, a flock of sheep being herded off in the distance. The food is mostly locally grown and was delicious. Our group was seated on the restaurant's veranda - with a wicker seat at my back, slow fan rotating overhead and the subtle smell of honeysuckle in the air, I was drawn in to the natural beauty of Serenbe. All the servers and staff I interacted with were warm and friendly and willing to help or accommodate our group in any way. We spent a lot of our time in the Oak Room which was furnished beautifully and very comfortable for a two day conference. The guest rooms we spent the night in were cute and cleaned impeccably well, only downside was a twin bed which had me feeling like a camper circa 1996! Whether it's for a personal getaway or a professional trip for your employees, I recommend checking out Serenbe. read more

I had the pleasure of attending our company meeting at Serenbe February 6-8th and from start to finish, it was FIRST CLASS! Our meeting room was great, food DELCIOUS and well presented, and guest rooms are wonderful. Walking around the grounds and visiting with the goats, horses, pigs and other creatures was such fun! OK stay, clean room, pleasant staff, nice grounds... but I did have some issues/concerns. 1- Rooms use metal keys which is a huge security concern. Also, they use these "charming" mini-cowbells on the keys. These are absolutely a pain to carry around. 2- While it is fine to have the animals on site, they do leave some animals out of their enclosures, especially sheep. This resulted in a very disappointing situation where their very nice bocce court was absolutely covered in feces and wholly unusable. 3- The only eating establishments in the immediate area are overpriced and generic. The breakfast at the Inn was quite good, but they (understandably) have a small dinner menu. The other restaurant I visited was in the Serebe Community and it was obnoxiously crowded and had a menu which went the other way. Never a good sign when you can get a steak or a pizza at the same restaurant. Seldom do they do either well and this was no exception. Not "bad" mind you... just mediocre and not reflective of the price charged. Further, no options off-property really. Palmetto is the closest town and its only got Dairy Queen, McD's and Dominoes. 4- Serebe "townsfolk" were somewhat off-putting. While not a fault of the Inn, it did affect my experience. Most notably, I came across an older lady in the "wildflower meadow" (completely devoid of wildflowers BTW) that did not take kindly to me giving her a wide berth on the trail. She had a dog and I have been bitten many times, so I avoid getting close to the animals. She yelled at me and told me she would call the police, yet I never even said a word to her, just walked off the trail beyond reach of her leash! 5- Water takes a VERY long time to get warm in the mornings. 6- Aircraft traffic overhead was intense and noisy. This place is right under the take-off/landing pattern for Hartsfield Airport (busiest passenger airport in the world!) Planes are quite low and loud when overhead. Surprisingly, you cannot hear enough in the Inn to have bothered me, but it was a constant background noise when outside. 7- You can experience everything in one day. I see no reason to ever stay here more than one night. The main attraction is whatever event you are attending as they appear to do a robust wedding and company training/retreat business. I'm really conflicted about my feelings about Serenbe. I have been a regular guest for at least four years, generally going in the Fall, Winter, and Summer every year. I've stayed in every cottage on the grounds. I loved Serenbe in the beginning. Super nice staff, clean cottages, and excellent food. It's beginning to lose it's charm and I think it's overpriced for the quality of the rooms. Most have no mini fridge or access to get ice for drinks. There is no bellman to help with your luggage, you have to drag it across gravel parking lots and driveways. It's a giant hassle if you have to make several trips back and forth bringing in your luggage, snacks, work stuff, etc.. The rooms are often not terribly clean, the air conditioning is spotty at best-a real problem when it's summertime in Georgia! For the price, it really should be super clean, have more room amenities, and definitely a person to help with your luggage. I've personally helped at least 10 different elderly people get luggage to their rooms during my several yearly visits. They really need to address this. At least offer guests a golf cart ride with their luggage to check in. The food: Breakfast is two choices: An egg dish with sausage or bacon, and grits or potatoes, Second option is either a waffle or pancake with sausage or bacon. That's it! No breakfast menu to peruse, you get two choices. They're small portions too. Tea time at 4:00 is lovely. They generally have sweet and unsweetened tea, and lemonade. Goat cheese, cheese straws, crackers, and something sweet is usually provided. It's a nice free snack to hold you over until dinner. I would skip the Farmhouse for dinner and drive over to The Hill. They have a huge menu, everything is wonderful, the service is top notch, and it's not crazy overpriced. Also, men & women can wear nice shorts and short sleeve shirts, no jacket required. It's an upscale restaurant but they get that you're on vacation and maybe don't want to get dressed up for dinner. Dress business casual/ nice shorts or sundress. For lunch definitely go to the Blue Eyed Daisy. Everything is heavenly, be sure to get cookies to eat later, they are divine. Bring bug spray and DEFINITELY flip flops to wear around your room, the floors are filthy and you won't want your dirty feet in your bed. Wifi is spotty, air conditioning isn't great. If you're looking for a true luxury getaway, Serenbe isn't for you. Go to the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, St. Regis or the Ritz on Lake Oconee. read more

What started as the promise of a quiet anniversary weekend ended up being pretty much anything but, and that made me sad. I really wanted Serenbe to be the oasis near Atlanta that it proclaims itself to be. When my wife booked the room we were expressly told that the minimum age in the main building was 16. We love kids and have three between us, but this was a weekend for us and the promise of being an adult weekend was appealing. We got to the hotel in the early afternoon and, predictably, our room wasn't ready, so we ventured through the community to one of their restaurants for a nice lunch. After lunch and a leisurely drive, we returned to the property to check in only to be told that they didn't think the room was ready. A quick check of their computer suggested otherwise (why even comment to the contrary as this was now an hour past check-in?). We asked for champagne glasses and they said they'd call housekeeping to deliver them. So we ventured to our room. It is admittedly nicely appointed, though we did realize after going to bed that two wins formed the king size bed and they were not properly installed causing an uncomfortable difference I. Height in the middle. The TV was not easy to figure out and after calling for assistance we were told that there was a similar error in that room before, so they'd put in notes that a discount should be applied. We ran into the housekeeping crew. They were great. They hadn't heard from the front desk but expedited our champagne glasses. Our special anniversary dinner? There were kids dining with parents and they were loud, for an 8:00pm seating. Some of the food was excellent, but substitutions on the menu negated some choices while others weren't communicated prior to being served. We did appreciate the complimentary dessert. My wife slept in but I headed to breakfast. There were families at a number of tables. Even as we checked out there were kids running uncontrollably throughout the guest services area. I love kids. I have kids. I was looking forward to an oasis and it was just that, one unrealized. The front desk said it was because of the family event they had the day before. When my wife made the reservation, she told them upon hearing about the kid policy that she was looking forward to a quiet anniversary weekend. That would have been an opportune time when making the reservation that such an event was occurring. The telling point was when I asked my wife if she'd go back. She hesitated and turned the question back to me. I really wanted to love Serenbe, but I can't say with complete certainty that I would go back. Hopefully the management will read this review as being constructive so that they can make some changes to enable Serenbe to live up to the hype. read more

Great escape from the busy life. I encourage you to take your time strolling the streets and enjoying this quaint community. We started at the outdoor market on Saturday morning snacking on delicious baked breads and coffee. The hubby and I enjoy looking at architecture so studying the design of the homes was interesting as it seems like there are no two alike! We checked in early at the Inn and were thrilled to get to stay in The Grange area of the community. We had a entire cottage home to ourselves and it was great to have time to just be by ourselves without any distractions. The full breakfast at the inn was amazing. You have to have their grits! The Inn has beautiful grounds with flowers everywhere. The petting zoo was a blast for adults and kids. It was wonderful to enjoy having time to ourselves to just enjoy the beauty that Serenbe offers. Can't wait to come back next year in a different season to see how it looks. read more

I have been going to Serenbe since the Inn opened in the 90's when I was a teenager living in Atlanta. I now travel there as much as possible from Los Angeles with my husband and kids for the last several years. My one-liner about Serenbe is "It's as if Martha Stewart created a town. Everything is considered." It's difficult to explain all that Serenbe has to offer. I can only explain from my viewpoint, and I am someone in my 40's who consistently craves an escape from the big city to a beautiful place where my kids can roam freely in nature. After reading the other reviews, I sincerely understand someone's compulsion to try to compare Serenbe to certain luxury resorts, but, in my opinion, you just cannot. It is its own unique place and has many wonderful qualities to appreciate. Also, if you're aligned with the philosophy, than it's hard to resist. I love that my elementary-school-aged children can walk out the door and be gone for hours without me worrying. I love that the only sounds i really hear there are of cicadas and bullfrogs. I love never having to get into a car for my entire stay (sometimes weeks at a time). I love the farmers market, farm to table restaurants, forest trails, hidden play structures in the woods, wild berry picking in the summer, cozy fires at a cottage or by the lake, happy hour at the bar, the book store, the gourmet market, the pool, the cabana, Luis, Juliann, Gloria, Melanie, Pam, and some of the other lovely staff members I've gotten to know. This place is a dream for families. Grab an iced tea at tea time or a cocktail at happy hour and mosey. You'll eventually find your kids nearby on the trampoline or in the treehouse or with the farm animals. They will definitely be in their element and loving it! You will truly unwind while also having everything you need in proximity by foot or golf cart. I have never experienced anything else like Serenbe. Don't expect The Four Seasons, do some homework on the restaurants (and their unusual hours), appreciate the rustic-ness, and you'll have an amazing time! read more

I really wanted to give this place a better review but management's non-response to our issues have forced me to rate them with 2 stars. My wife and I stayed here to attend a performance at the playhouse. We had placed and order for a vegetable plate to pick up after the show. We got two bowls of lentil soup for $50. Then we had no heat in our room. The front desk came and brought us blankets and a space heater which helped. We were told that our account would be noted and reviewed by management. When we called back two days later they claimed there were no notes. They assured us they would look into the matter and call us back two hours later. It had now been 24 hours later and no call. Aside from the management issues, the location was really relaxing and peaceful. You can sit on the screened porch and listen to the roosters, geese and other animals on property with an occasion plane overhead. The rooms were okay but way overpriced. The staff was nice but I'm wondering about the management issues in responding to issues we had. read more

In the late winter of 2015 we attended a charity event with an auction and bid & won the Family Trip to Serenbe, after wanting to do so for many years! Last spring I made our reservations for last summer. After spending the week at Serenbe we went to check out & return our keys and you can imagine my surprise when they told us we owed them $800! The auction item was sold as a "Family Trip to Serenbe" and included (verbatim) five nights at the Inn at Serenbe and two five-day passes at Camp Serenbe for children ages 3 1/2 to 10. Also includes a massage and facial, dinner for four on Thursday and Fried Chicken Lunch for four on Sunday. (I still have the original certificate.) This package is for a FAMILY and we bid on it for our FAMILY. The certificate - based on the verbiage - was intended for a family of 4 (but we have 3 children) so I paid the full tuition for my 3rd child to go to camp. Having never been to Serenbe before I called to make the reservations, reading the woman (and scanning & emailing a copy so that they could see it as I spoke to them) and took the accommodations suggested to me by the representative on the phone. The woman told me that the cottage she was putting us in had 2 king size beds and I told her that would be fine as my children are small (at the time 8, 8, & 6) and they could easily all fit in one king size bed and my husband & I would share the other king size bed. At no point did anyone ever say that the 2 king size beds, which were in 2 separate bedrooms, were going to be more than what my auction item covered. At no time did the Serenbe representative say to me that this was going to cost me additional fees - more than what the certificate was for (five nights for a FAMILY). As I said - at the time of check out I was told I owed over $800 for the second room. I did not understand!!! I bought an auction item for a FAMILY - did they expect one whole family of 4 (or in our case 5) to sleep in one king size bed?! That is ridiculous! It says the package is for five nights with no limitations or exclusions on the number of rooms but it also says it is for a FAMILY! I think it is safe to say that any reasonable person would expect 2 double/queen/king size beds regardless of in how many actual rooms these beds are situated. I had no preference where they put us up - but regardless I expected sleeping accommodations for a FAMILY of four (and if our kids had to sleep together in a bed it would be fine - which they did); but why would I think that if the package was for a FAMILY including two five day passes at camp AND dinner for four AND lunch for FOUR that they would charge me for the second bed/room?!! If there was a cottage with one sleeping room that had beds for 4 then they should have given us that room? I did not request the cottage (with 2 rooms each with a king size bed) that we were put in! I read the copy on the certificate to the woman (as well as providing a copy) and she put us in a cottage! This does not make sense! I tried repeatedly to speak with Garnie Nygren, whose name is on the certificate; She has never once accepted my phone calls, returned my phone messages, replied to messages left with her staff or come to meet me when I was standing there on the property. On top of it all, as you know, this was an auction fundraiser for scholarships - we paid $2500 for the auction item and then on top of that for our 3rd child to go to camp. We paid more than the package was worth as it was for charity!!! It is not about the money; it is about the moral principal of it all and doing the right thing. The written documentation that Serenbe provided to American Express states the "Gift Certificate was good for 1 room"- that is not accurate. The Gift Certificate was for a "Family Trip to Serenbe - This package includes five nights at the Inn at Serenbe and......." I would expect sleeping for 4 regardless of the number of rooms. If you did not want us to be in a cottage with 2 rooms - each with a bed, then put us in a room or cottage that has 2 beds in one room!! I did not request this space - I had never been to Serenbe!! I did dispute it for over a year with no satisfying resolution so I have taken my dissatisfaction to social media to let others in our community know to be aware of Serenbe's practice of unclear documentation, not satisfying the customer and a far as I am concerned double charging us. read more

First- difficult location to find. The "community" seems confused about what is it. The Inn is expensive for a basic room. Our room had only warm not hot water. I see other reviews for Serenbe Bed and Breakfast and this may be the same place. Wonderful getaway about an hour south of the North Atlanta suburbs. We stayed at the main inn, which is restricted to adults. It was very quiet even with at least one wedding party on sight. We ate at the Farmhouse adjacent to the main inn (separate review) and the breakfast was also excellent. Breakfast is included, but much more an inn than a B & B. We did the casual walking trails and doubled back through the village of Serenbe. Great getaway for anyone in metro Atlanta. Many other amenities (zip line, horseback riding, etc) available. Cabins are available within the grounds of the Inn. Very casual environment. read more

We had a great stay and the kids enjoyed the trampoline, animals, golf carts, pool and smores. I was surprised there was not more to offer on the breakfast option at the Farmhouse. I was hoping for a little grocery store inside Serenbe. The market was way over priced and not many options. The two places we stayed were good. Loft 13 was a bit too light for us in the morning and could have been a little cleaner. Il Nido was amazing. We loved it. We did however get a hold on our credit card for an extra $425 and having trouble getting a manager to call me back which is frustrating after two attempts.
