I absolutely love visiting stonewall either to look at firearms or for some range time. All of the employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. The process are reasonable on fire arms and the have a huge selection. Not to mention a nice clean range and gun rentals. I came here once and will never go back. As others have already mentioned the staff are some of the rudest I've ever experienced. After I finally got an employee to actually help me with what I wanted to look at they sat around, ignored my questions, and then talked to me like I was an idiot. I had a terrible experience! I came in to buy my first firearm with my buddy and my girlfriend. When I came in I was not acknowledged or welcomed. I spent about 15 minutes looking at all the hand guns and made it very clear that I was interested. I went over to ask the thin tall older gentleman. He was nice and helped us but started pushing all these classes I did not want. I told him I needed to look around more and I would come back. I found one I liked and wanted to hold and he said he would be over in a minute as he was finishing a background check which was fine. He then helped three other customers. When everyone was helped I reminded him and told him I wanted to buy a gun and he said not tonight and pointed to his watch. Had he helped me first I could have walked out with my hand gun. I have now been to Stonewall several times over the last couple of months, and I thought the staff was friendly and helpful- (remember they are gun guys and gals not hostesses at Applebee's). They answered all of my potentially silly questions and even helped diagnose an issue with a gun that I didn't even buy there. The range and supplies are reasonable - my only complaint is that it is sometimes kind of cold (tough to load magazines with cold fingers). On the whole- good service great selection and good pricing. read more

What is worse than the overpriced guns and ammo? The customer service!! It is absolutely terrible here. Anytime you talk to an employee they treat you like an idiot!! My grandfather was looking to purchase a gun here and was treated so poorly by the employees that he took his business elsewhere! And to make matters worse there is nobody overseeing the range and you have idiots pointing loaded weapons at each other all the time!! Will NOT be returning here!! read more

I've had both positive and negative experiences. The range itself is very nice, and reasonably priced. The staff, however, is very hit or miss. Most of the employees are not big on customer service at all. Some of them are just plain rude and unprofessional. But, if you can brush off the occasional rude comment it is usually a good experience. Range ammo is available as well as several new and used guns, accessories, and clothing. Really awful service. Went in today to rent a gun and shoot at the range and was asked how many rounds I shot in the past two years so I guessed and was told that I could not rent a gun even though I've been shooting since I was a kid. It was almost like the guy didn't want me there and I was tricked into saying whatever number under 1000 rounds so he wouldn't have to deal with me. Never had a problem with any of the staff although I've seen them get testy with customers at times. I shoot there once a month or more, my main concern is the condition of the range area. It needs better lighting, it's kind of dark. The dividers between the stalls are plywood and are full of bullet holes, as is the ceiling looking down range. There's even a bullet hole in the wall above the observation window going into the store area, I'm surprised no one hasn't been killed or seriously wounded yet, this just confirms the fact that there should be a range officer in the shooting area. Horrible service. As soon as i asked to test a gun in the gun range i was asked 20 questions and asked to prove that ive used a gun before. He told me id have to take the gun apart and put it together or he wouldn't let me in. He asked me to name a make and model of a gun and it was absolutely ridiculous. The arrogant, pompous groove that hums along like a Harley on Sunday, is mesmerizing. You see what you have at Stonewall is a staff that believes all customers are idiots and ownership should be ashamed. From the reviews it seems there may be a problem at Stonewall. After a dozen or more trips I can validate. This place is just an uncomfortable environment to be in. Is stonewall a nice facility? Today I visited this range for the first time with my best friend, we had a good time shooting, I don't understand the negative reviews, we saw none of that. We had no problems at all; the sales staff was very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back to shoot again and work on our skills. read more

Have gone there a couple of times in the past few months. Once with a group from work and once with my 22 year old daughter. Never had a problem. Some staff could be ball-******* but who cares. Big selection could be a little cleaner, but they do get lot of traffic. Taking the range portion of my CCL at another range so let's see how they compare. I have no complaints. Follow up: went again tonight with my daughter 2 months later. Same guy took care of us, think his name is Greg, and remembered us. Couldn't have been nicer. Stonewall Range is one of the better indoor shooting ranges in the area. When it comes to indoor ranges, Stonewall is pretty standard in the way that it is set up. The range is clean, functional, and well-designed. Prices for stall rental, gun rental, ammunition, and targets are pretty reasonable. The gun shop itself is pretty good as well, and they have a very large selection of firearms, less-lethal, and various firearm accessories. The employees are pretty knowledgeble, although some of them are not particularly friendly. Lines to get a stall on the range can be somewhat long on certain days, but this is because the place is very popular. Overall, not the best place, but not the worst either. read more

The "staff" are exceedingly rude and borderline psychotic. They're everything bad about gun enthusiasts, and unfortunately, do the community serious harm. I've truly never met anyone more insecure and determined to let everyone know - and I'm from Mississippi. I've been shooting, reloading, and hunting for 20 years. I know what I'm doing. They have a *real* problem with women and minorities - the larger bearded man (I hesitate to call him a "Range Master", because he's clearly unqualified as hell) will literally follow you around, harass you, invade your space, and yell insults at you until you leave, citing bullshit rules he just made up on the spot and aren't actual regulation. The three times I went I was so uncomfortable and convinced I was around an actual lunatic. It's really hard to make me uncomfortable, but this guy managed to do it all three times. Then there's the other guy. When I came in to grab a new paddle holster, the older man asked me if I "wanted a pink one" to "go with my rollers" which is about the level of cognitive activity and social awareness you'd expect from some idiot who's been in cryosleep since 1911. Stonewall is an incredibly uncomfortable place to be, because you feel like you're surrounded by deranged idiots who are clearly using their humble position to boost their fragile ego. That's not our problem to deal with, and seriously, guns aren't for losers who jump at their own shadow and want to feel better about themselves. I've read the reviews from here, and let me assure you: these guys are NOT hard. I've lived in the Dakotas, Deep South, and West, where militas, supremacists, and real psychos live. They're more stable than Stonewall, which should terrify everyone. Don't be intimidated by these phony assholes or let them bully you out of becoming a gun owner, enthusiast, or simply wanting to learn. That's what real Range Masters are there for - to guide and teach. Don't let Stonewall dissuade you from the greater gun community or hobby. I'm amazed either one of these people has access to firearms, quite frankly, as it's apparent neither one is stable or mature enough to operate one, making them the last people who should ever have them. Cuyahoga Falls is a solid alternative, albeit a bit of a hike. read more

Went to this establishment to practice shooting with my brother and because we were Hispanic and didn't seem like we had money the store supervisor said we could not rent a gun because of the lack of experience. I will NEVER step foot in this place again. The customer service here is AWFUL! You'd think after reading all of these negative reviews on yelp it would click in their heads that they should become more customer friendly. Well, I guess they're just not that smart. My 18 year old brother and his girlfriend came out to visit me the week before Christmas and we decided to spend an hour at the range. I've been in the military for 8 years, but my brother and his girlfriend don't have much experience. From the moment we walked in to the place, I could tell they were judging us. Before allowing me to rent a handgun he (Alan was his name) questioned my experience in front of other customers like I was taking some type of damn test. Then he refused to rent me a handgun and was practically laughing at me in front of other customers because he didn't think I knew what I was doing. What he doesn't know is I have a sharpshooter ribbon with the Sig .40 cal and have been on law enforcement boardings out at sea. I bet he feels like a really big man standing behind a cashier's desk with a gun on his hip. We ended up going to B&T range in Lorain and they were MUCH more professional and it was a great experience. Please don't give this place your business. Very friendly staff and a great range. They are always willing to answer all of my questions and have even told me to reconsider a purchase by explaining some things on a gun that might not work for me and sold me on a different pistol which I love. Their prices may be a few dollars more than a box box store, but I like to support a local business and they definitely earn it in service. The range can be busy at times but I don't know if a range that isn't. As long as you are safe (and they do watch you) they don't bother you. I love that and wish more ranges did that. First time there, first time shooting a gun. I had no problem with the staff but had very little interaction with them. First guy who checked us in was fine, professional. Guy who checked us out was the same. Only complaint was there were a ton of shells all over the floor-threw me off a few times, especially since this was my first time shooting. Don`t know if that`s to be expected though ??? Otherwise, I would recommend this place as an indoor shooting range. read more

I started going here with my partner about a year ago. The first few times we went, we were helped by a tall thin older gentleman, I think his name was Tom. He was so kind, so helpful and so informative it quickly became my favorite place to shoot. However, the last time I went in however, he was not there. I came in with my mother who was visiting from out of town and my partner. I was helped by 2 guys, one with a beard. I use the term "help" loosely. As soon as we walked in I realized I forgot my ear protection at home and told my partner. The man at the counter said "Its probably with your hairdryer and curlers." I brushed it off. We then got our range time and started shooting. I have guns, but I have been in the market for a 38 and have been testing some out. I went up to the desk and asked to rent one. He said "honey why don't you have your boyfriend over there rent it for you do you even know how to shoot?" I should have left right then, but my mother was enjoying herself so I didn't. When she was done, because she had such a great time she wanted a shirt to buy. She asked if they had any shirts in smaller sizes (they only had XXL) and they said "honey this isn't a dance studio." and that was it. never going back. loved tom and wanted to buy my 38 there, but they lost my business for good. There is no need to treat customers like that. I say go to Pro Armament in Cuyahoga falls where they know what they are talking about, are helpful and will get my business for sure. read more

The staff are caustic and rude. Any question directed to the staff is met with a 6 second delay followed by a face cringe. There was a lot of passive aggressive mumbling and grumbling going on behind the counter. You get the sense they don't take kindly to gun noobs at all and the place really plays into the hick/hillbilly stereotype. This is obviously a generalization, there was one informative and respectful guy but I think he was the CZ rep and didn't actually work there. These guys act professional. Both serious and friendly. A gun range isn't a place where you want to have goofballs running it. Been there 3 times. No complaints. Fellow shooters are pretty cool also. For you folks that can't spell when doing a review, you shouldn't be handling a weapon till you pass first grade. (That would be school). I've bought several guns there over the years. On the busiest and worst of days the staff was rude and not particularly helpful. On the slow days they seemed indifferent and not particularly helpful. In my experience there are only a couple people there that know anything about what they're selling and only one that was even nice to me after having spent several thousand dollars that day. They do have a very nice selection which is the only reason I occasionally go there when I can't find a particular item at any of the other stores I frequent. I've never shot there because it's too chaotic and the people waiting are even more rude than the staff. From now on I'm going to pass and go to Atlantic or B&T which are pretty close and while the selection isn't as extensive at either they treat the customers much better read more

My first visit to stonewall range I drove down there with my sister to shoot off a few rounds with my ruger 10/22. We approached the counter and waiting for a while. Service was a bit slow but the place was busy at the time and the wait was not too bad. When we finally got service it was an older gentlemen who was helpful enough and answered any questions we asked. I read the reviews of this place before we came so I was looking around for anything said in the review and found nothing. The man assisting us came off slightly snappy but after another customer made an un-needed comment about the wait time I can see why. The man behind the counter responded in a slightly professional way and there was no over the top rude attitude from any of the staff my entire visit. No biker looking guys or any staff for that matter walking around with pistols strapped to their hips though I did see some of those guys. The staff was not overly helpful but did their job. They have a great selection of handguns but only 3 or 4 shotguns and no center fire rifles (probably because of the 'assault weapons' ban scare) Prices are slightly high on firearms but not out of the question. read more

Won't return to this range. Was told by a friend they had rental guns so I figured let's try a few before investing in a gun that I don't enjoy shooting. AFTER filling out their rental questionnaire/application, the clerk informed me I didn't have enough experience to rent a gun. That seems fair. we all want to be safe and know they qualify customers before allowing them to discharge firearms near other humans. BUT I could buy a gun and walk out to the range and start shooting.... Um? Hello?? Anybody in there? After informing the clerk I have completed an NRA basic pistol safety course, he politely inquired who the instructor was. I gave him the name and he didn't recognize it so I was fresh out of luck. In the clerks defense, he wasn't rude, he just couldn't give me the answer I wanted. In hindsight I should've brought my proof of competency and maybe he could've offered to look up my instructor on the NRA database. read more

Firearm prices are very high, and the range seems very dirty and unsafe. Would not suggest going there.

We visited Stonewall on Dec 28, was very busy. 6 shooters in our group. Staff was not attentive to customers coming in the door. They were understaffed during the busy week after Christmas - only 2 staff visible when we got there. Had to find out from other customers that there was a 2 hour wait. After 10 minutes of not being acknowledged, we left and went to Sherwin's in Willowick where a very friendly, customer oriented young lady welcomed us and kept us apprised of waiting time, etc. Couldn't agree more with posts relating rude, condescending staff at Stonewall. Customer service is everything - I will not return to Stonewall & will not refer others. Thanks Sherwin's for "making our day" - the 30 minute drive from Stonewall was well worth it!!! read more

All I have to say is good luck getting any customer service from these people. It's beyond me why they even have a selection of firearms to purchase when you can't even get an employee to take one out of the case for you to buy it. Aside from this, when you ask a question or want to be rung out for buying something that's not locked up, they treat you as if you're annoying them and have done something wrong.
