I signed up for the 8 hour concealed carry class and was able to get in very quickly. I have near zero experience with guns however was very comfortable during class and on the range. The information was engaging and we were able to learn hands on about safely handling, loading, and unloading the guns in the classroom before the range. I had to step out of class a couple of times to take client calls (I tried not to be too rude) but was still able to pass the test with 100% because they make sure you're understanding the content. I felt comfortable asking questions and had guidance on the range. I really liked how we had the opportunity to try both a revolver and a semi-automatic on the range. Brent does an awesome job teaching and explaining all the laws and safety required with the CCW. Very knowledgeable and has a great background in service for our country. Also brings in an insurance company that can get you registered there that day. If you take the class in Deleware, the range is somewhat far away if you're from Columbus or south of Deleware. Brent makes this long class fun and prepares you to carry! Got my license in Franklin County shortly after this class. He offers you other self defense products for sale as well. I took the CCW class this past weekend in Delaware/Columbus area and it was great. Both Brent and Mina were very informative, straight to the point, covering most critical subjects/gun safety points, and humorous. Gun safety, handling, and when to shoot scenarios were some of the focal points of discussion throughout the training which was also very interactive with the whole class participating. Yes they had other sales pitches but you don't have to listen or buy any of these products or services. I get why that would upset some. You are already paying a discounted price for class. Lets be real. Overall, Had great education, nice time on range shooting different guns, semi and revolvers (I shot my own too), so many laughs, and left the range with a signed certificate of CCW class completion. Brent was a fantastic instructor! He did a great job going over a lot of information needed for the test. This is a great class not only to get your CCW but if you are interested in gun safety, thinking about owning a gun, and what to do in different scenarios. We were able to purchase the book & other self defense products. It's the best price around & highly recommend! The guy who gave a horrible review must be a competitor because there is no truth of what was said. read more

Not sure how this class has 5 stars out of 5. I would give it ZERO if I could. This was a horrible, misleading class. This is supposed to be a class about Ohio gun safety and laws. There is supposed to be 6 hours of class LEARNING time and INSTRUCTION. We were in the classroom for 5.5 hours, but there might have been 3 hours of actual learning and instruction. We used a 150 or so page book on Ohio handgun safety, and we MIGHT have looked at 10 pages of it. What about the rest of it?? Here is where it gets out of hand, and where the rest of the class time went: The instructor started a SALES PITCH for these books AND a bunch of personal protection products---for his OWN profit!! I did not pay to sit through someone trying to make MORE money by using the class time. This was totally unacceptable. We learned basically nothing about Ohio Laws and Gun safety. So, we broke for lunch, and had to order from Donato's where the class is (which is also very odd). Was supposed to be a "working" lunch, but we spent almost an hour with no class going on. More lost class time. Then, after lunch, we had a guest speaker. NO---NOT a guest speaker--it was a guy trying to sell us Self-defense pre-paid lawyer memberships--and it was VERY high pressure. They guy actually complained about not enough people signing up for it!! Again, what does this have to do with earning your CCW?? Waste of our time. So, now we'll move on to the 2 hour range time. When we bought the Groupon for this class, it clearly stated that the Range time would be at the Delaware State Park gun range, which is about 15 minutes from the classroom site. Well, when we got to class, we were told that the range there is CLOSED, and that we will have to drive all the way to MANSFIELD for our range time---an HOUR away. This should have been communicated to the class BEFORE we showed up. An email should have been sent. We probably would have cancelled our Groupon if we knew this in advance---of course this is why he didn't let anyone know until they showed up to class--then he would have lost money from people. The couple we sat with felt the exact same way as us. This wasted another 2 hours of our time during the day (hour to get there, and an hour to get home afterwards). Then, the "range" was some backwoods, hillbilly's house in a barn! Could not believe the nasty, filthy place this was--out in the middle of nowhere (our phones wouldn't even work. Apparently, our instructor only had 4 range stalls reserved---for 25 people. Totally overcrowded, unorganized and a disaster. So the 2 hour range time was actually about 15 minutes each---we only shot 30 rounds (10 at a time), and had to rotate in and out, with no organization. Everyone just stood around and really didn't know what was going on. Total mess. So, I guess you get what you pay for. Spend a little more and go to one of the classes at and actual REAL gun range (Blackwing or AimHi in Delaware and New Albany). The $69 each we spent on this class was a joke--don't waste your time with this one. The State of Ohio obviously has zero control or oversight over what is taught in these classes. To have to sit through two "SELLING" sessions was totally inappropriate and this instructor should be ashamed of this class. read more
