I've been going to Stonewall off and on since 2010. While I have witnessed some of the negative behaviors mentioned in the bad reviews, I can say without a doubt that it's night and day since the ownership change. Since then, both retail and range have gotten brighter & cleaner. The bad apples on staff were fairly quickly weeded out, and everyone there now has been nothing but professional, positive, and helpful with me, and with anyone I've seen them interact with. Of course, you can always catch someone having a bad day, or in an unpleasant moment, but that doesn't reflect the new normal, and it's something you'll get anywhere you go. read more

I had a great experience here. Went there last Thursday, for the first time, and I'm looking forward to going back. Every range I've ever been to charges WAY more for ammo than I get at stores. I usually bring my own ammo because I buy a lot when I find a good sale. But this place was on par with what I'm used to paying. And the range fee was the most reasonable I've ever seen. The service and expertise at this facility are incredible. The team is very knowledgeable on firearms and due to the owner being an impressive gunsmith there is a large amount of quality parts in the store and available for the store to order and install for you. He's known for talking about the customers behind their back soon as they leave the store and had the audacity to shoot the gun I had rented from them after clearing the jam and wasted the bullets I paid for. There's bad. Then there's these a-holes. Get your sh*t squared away and start treating the customer with fairness, dignity and respect. One of the few businesses that actually robs you with a gun. They're turds. If you're in there for the range or in there for purchases their attitudes are largely anti-customer. I've never had what I would classify as a good experience here. For starters the staff are elitists and will absolutely look down their nose at you regardless of who you are or what experience you have.... Don't dare ask questions as it will only bother them and take up their oh so valuable time. The prices for handguns there are WAY marked up to the point where it is almost laughable. You're truly so much better off going to Fin Feather and Fur and will save a TON of money! I went there to test fire a handgun I was thinking about buying; it had some malfunctions (misfeeding and stovepipe). The handgun I was attempting to fire belonged to Stonewall. It was one of their rentals. I called the "range officer" over which he was clearly disgusted over. He got the weapon to fire and handed it back. I fired one round, same issues. Called him back and it was asking for a first born. Just seemed aggrieved. They snicked and joked about the weapon I was interested in purchasing. Granted, it was a "budget" gun but by no means a HI Point. A nice gun still.... I was NOT charged for the rental but was charged for a full box of 9mm ammo of which I fired 3 rounds out of. Rude staff!! Over priced... Small range... Other places are not as snobby it rude. Take your money and time elsewhere. read more

Continues to lack any type of customer service. Went on a Saturday morning for range time, first time in a couple of years. First, the door was opened at 9:05, leaving us outside in the cold longer than needed. The range was actually already in use, and after 4 people checked in for range time, they said they were full, the class there wouldn't be over until 11, and we'd have to wait as 4 people at a time rotated through the open stalls. This class is a regular event. No mention of this on their website. So I wasted time and gas to drive there and back home. Parma Armory gets all my local business going forward. read more

The staff at Stonewall is very polite, very familiar with weapons, ammunition, scopes, and how to quickly fix malfunctions. They are rude to know-it-alls, wanna-be vigilantes, and unsafe novices who rent a polymer-frame pistol and complain when it stovepipes, typically due to a less than firm grip when firing. I have been going there for about nine years and have been a member for four years, shooting two or more times per week. I have encountered only friendly, helpful employees who are typical gun people. They are polite and will not tolerate unsafe acts. The staff does not know that I was Special Ops for 11 years, qualified Expert with every weapon I was issued, and qualified Distinguished Expert (pistol) with the NRA. They treat me like everyone else, that is, respectfully, and have gone above and beyond to help me, once when I had a malfunction with one of my lever guns, trying out ammo I bought at an auction, and once bandaging me when I cut my hand on a knife that slipped open in my pocket. If you have good manners and you don't try to impress with your movie-learned gun knowledge, this is a good range. If you are a bit dim and express bravado when you waive around your rented Glock, this is not the range for you. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A FIREARM FROM STONEWALL!!! I purchased a firearm from stonewall about two and a half months back, before everything shut down because of coronavirus. I recently had the chance to get familiar with it and IT DOESNT WORK! It will not load into the chamber, it jams every time. I tried multiple clips and ammo, and it will not load. So I called stonewall and spoke to Gregg who very nicely told me it would be no issue to come in and get my money back to put towards a different gun that I had originally wanted. So I go in after work that same day and Gregg had told Jimmy my situation and told me I could come and talk to Jimmy because Gregg was leaving for the day. So I did. He gave me a hard time, told me I should not have purchased a firearm that I didn't know how to load!!! he proceeds to clean and oil the gun(which has never ever been shot bc of the fact that it will not load) and then he puts range ammo in it and said it loads just fine and will not give me my money back. They said all they could do is buy my gun back from me for HALF PRICE because it is a "used gun" even though it has never been fired. So now I have a firearm (for protection) that will not even be able to protect me if needed. Such bullshit and awful customer service. I will never go back and I do not recommend going here, especially if you are a female because they just assume I'm a silly girl who doesn't know what I'm talking about even though my dad tried more than once to load the same gun lol. THIS PLACE IS A COMPLETE JOKE. read more

I was hoping to be sold to but you really gotta know what you're looking for as these guys won't help you. Also their range required experience in order to be allowed to rent their guns. This place brings back a lot of memories. I bought my first firearm here when I was 19 (Ruger 10/22 Carbine) and I still have it. I used to come here with my friend, Russ, quite a bit back in the day. He got me into the shooting hobby. At the time, this was the only indoor range that allowed you to shoot high powered rifles since the backstop here can take the abuse. A lot of places would only allow .22 rifles. I think most of the ranges nowadays allow high caliber rifles though. The store has a good variety of firearms at great prices compared to big box stores. They carry all makes. The remodeled shooting range is so much better than what it used to be. My recent visit was the first time coming here since the remodel. In addition to the range, the entire store layout was changed and I think it looks great! They even have a little "waiting room" area with couches for when the wait time for the range gets long. The bathrooms are handy for washing the lead residue off your hands when you're done shooting. I'm kinda OCD about having clean hands...haha The employees who work there are very knowledgeable, but as other Yelpers have mentioned, they can be a bit weird with their tough guy personas sometimes. It doesn't bother me though. Since I live pretty far away from Stonewall, I probably won't be making it up here very often unless my brother or my Romanian buddy want to shoot their ARs. Over the years I've been to Stonewall six or seven times, although not recently. I bought a new handgun a couple of days ago and I basically just wanted to try it out, so I decided to check out Stonewall's current range fees. I Googled Stonewall Range and Yelp was one of the first results that popped up, so here I am. And after reading all the negative reviews I realized "hey, I guess I wasn't the only one who got that impression about this place". I remembered that every time I went in there I felt patronized by some condescending SOB who barely made it through high school treating me like I was ignorant and he was some sort of ex-special ops ninja. I was considering going there to shoot this morning, but I'm not gonna waste my time or money at this place. I think I'll just bag up some old beer cans and take them out in the country. read more

This is a great place. You can see a wide selection of guns, all types. They have some of the most knowledgeable people on staff that anyone could ask for and the range is top-notch. If you are looking to find a rifle, shotgun, pistol or revolver this is the place to do it. There is also a great selection of guns to try out on the range if you are just looking and have not made your mind up as to a specific weapon. Despite what others have said here, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly to both experienced shooters and novices. I spent about two hours on the range the other day and had a great time. Horrible customer service. Ya, ammo's short due to our lovely government "buying" it all up, but dont be a dick about it. You're making money off the sale wither way This staff has the early 90's mentality of LA Police officers. Carrying an oversized gun on an expensive leather hip holster doesn't give you the bullet grouping abilities of Steven Segal. Now, I can't lie I've had plenty good memorable shooting experiences here, plenty. I learned to shoot here, my first shot ever fired was here and if the staff wasn't such pricks, most of them, I'd still be a supporter of this establishment. Not bad for pistols. Very bad for long guns. They don't allow FMJ rounds there and they inspect your ammo. Had to buy ammo there, prices weren't horrible but we wouldn't have bothered to lug our ammo there or would have brought different ammo. The big problem is that they wouldn't allow you use your magazine w the rifles. Their rule is only one round per clip, So you're constantly switching clips. We won't be back. read more

I've shot at Stonewall a half dozen times, and the staff always finds a way to treat me, as James P. put it, like an idiot. I do appreciate their setup, the glass windows are nice if you want to have multiple people on a lane, as you can have people "tag in" and out. The glass windows are not so great, however, when the angry yahoo behind the counter decides to try to find a new reason to yell at you every 10 minutes: "That target was 6" too low -- they need to be arm level" "If you shoot the carrier you are paying for it" I spent the entire 25 minutes of my last visit running 3 inch groups and ragged holes at 10-20yds -- I don't think I'm going to pop their crappy wire fed carrier. I'll stick to Pro-Gun in Cuyahoga Falls. read more

Honestly all of these bad reviews are odd to me...maybe someone who works at another shop or range had a bad sales day and wanted to crap on these guys? Absolutely one of the best range and shop experiences I have ever had. Everyone there was friendly. Salesperson was super helpful and searched for a OWB holster with full slide coverage for MP Shield in .45 for what seemed like forever, going out of his way to look on EVERY rack in the area and found the only one left that met my specs. Very very happy with this place and the staff and ended up spending about 45 mins on the range too. Ammo about as cheap as you can get it and they had SD rounds too. One of the few in the area that do in .45. Screw the haters. I'll be back for sure. read more
